Total Commander Issue - Touch Pro CDMA

Hi, I have total commander, and when I download files, it automatically opens zips or cab files, and more annoyingly it automatically starts to installed the downloaded cab files. Is there a way to disable this feature in Total Commander?

I dont think that's TC, but rather it is a function of the browser. Any chance you are using IE to download. Its default is to open files when download is complete. You need to uncheck the checkbox at downlosd time if that is the case.

Im using Skyfire

Your right, I uninstalled TC and used IE to download a file, I noticed that the option to open file after download was enabled, so I unchecked it. However, I use Skyfire and I dont have an option for downloads. I downloaded a zip file and sure enough after downloading, it open the zip file. There has to be something that is auto opening zips...cabs...

How to delete files in your "Downloads" section?

This may be a super trivial question, but I cannot seem to find how to delete files in the "downloads" folder/app.
I had downloaded some PDF files, and it shows in the Internet & Downloads page. I've tried clearing the cache/cookies/history in my Internet settings, but the files still appear in my Downloads section. I thought there was a way to delete them in the Downloads menu, but it does not appear to be. When I press the "Menu" button, it just gives me the option to Sort By Size.
Any suggestions?
In stock browser, when you look at your downloads history, you should see tick boxes next to each download. When you tick the box the option to delete should appear.
also, as a general idea, you could open the file explorer, navigate to the folder Downloads/ and delete the files you want to delete. a good thing about android is that you actually don't have to take care of file locations but it can still help to use file explorer to move, copy or delete files.

How Install apk from sdcard using internet browser

What if you need to install an apk from sdcard but you don't have a file manager installed yet, and to make things worse you don't have internet access to download it from the market!
Well, there's a solution to that. Provided by every internet browser available.
(I suppose you have one installed
Here's what you need to do:
1. Put the apk file in the main directory of your sdcard. Rename it to something very short for easy typing. In this example, I will use "fm.apk".
2. Boot your device. Goto Security Settings and check "Unknown Sources".
3. Open your internet browser. In the address bar type "file:///sdcard/<filename>.apk".
In our example above it should look like this: file:///sdcard/fm.apk
4. Press "Go". That's it! Installation started!

[Q] annoying problems retrieving downloads

Using Cyanogen 7.2
1. "Downloads" application (v2.3.7) says there are no downloads. If I use file manager I can navigate to downloads folder and see the files there. I read something saying Downloads application will only display files that were downloaded with the default android browser - is this correct? I use Firefox and will occasionally be using the light version of Opera.
2. Workaround if question in 1 is correct would be to create a shortcut to the downloads folder on home page, using file manager. However, the file managers I've tried "File Manager" built into 7.2, and "Open Manager" apparently don't allow shortcuts to be created.
Is there another open source file manager that allows shortcuts to be added to home page?
Would really appreciate any help with this, thanks
I know es file explorer offers this,,, and is quite awesome,,, not sure about compatibility on cm7 but i would think it's fine

System update doesn´t see WiFi

Hi guys,
I try to update my Note 4 (rooted, but runs stock ROM, 4/64 global version, 1 month old) with regular system update, but it keeps on saying, that I need to turn on WiFi. It IS on. First I figured it´s, because I share my tablet´s internet and doesn´t like hotspots, but connected to my normal rooter with the same "success". It starts downloading however on GSM/LTE. The problem is, that I have a 1 GB net and the package is 1.3 GB. My other thought was, it doesn´t work, because it´s rooted and can´t install OEM update just like on Google devices, but doesn´t even start to download. All other apps work with wifi on, but the sys update.
Open the file manager app in your device and locate the folder where the update.zip file is downloaded, delete it. Since the file is much bigger than your daily limit. Try to download the file from miui website and use apps like adm, where you can easily pause and continue the download of file. Then move the downloaded file to the internal storage and through the updater app, you can select the zip to install.

Samsung File Browser... open .txt and .log files with a text file editor

If I click to open a .txt file or .log file in Samsung File Browser (or any file management app)... the Android OS says that there are no apps associated with these files extensions; and, opens Google Play store; which is not useful.
What do I need to do in order to automatically open an app of my choice, such as QuickEdit+ when I click on a .txt or .log file in File management apps such as Samsung File Browser?
On Windows OS, its very easy, I can tell what apps to automatically open when clicking on a file type. I just want to be able to do the same.
Thanks in advance!
i can usually just select the text file and then select open with then select the editor. most times that choice is kept for all text files but at times it might ask which app or if for one time or always.
