My new HTC S740, just hard resetted, can't run as many apps I used to use on my old Moto Q, like dotfred's task manager, or wm5torage (I know that the function is builtin, but for the record, that program doesn't run). These programs crash just when you run them.
Also, PIM Backup crashes the same way when trying to restore messages. Luckily, it estracts the contacts backup before crashing so I can restore contacts alone.
I suspect it has to do with app unlock. I can't edit the necessary registry keys with regedit stg or mobileregistryeditor because they error out ("access denied").
What can I try? SDA_ApplicationUnlock might work?
My phone is TIM-branded (italy) and has a 20282 build rom (1.15.901.0, R 0.29.30.22, P 12.29.30.09H)
EDIT: already tried this S740-specific unlocking howto but it doesn't work, cause Regedit still says access denied.

Cooked my own ROM and got an expired trial version with it. Remove Programs in Settings does not list it.
Is there a way I can unistall it, or at lease stop it from running? Like a registry setting?

do a hard reset
The only way to fully uninstall GPRS monitor file is to do a hard reset.
aao588 , I don't think hard-reset will help, seems like he has 'cooked' the GPRS monitor into the rom. After hard-reset the program will be still in the rom, unless he flash it with another rom.
e1design, I don't use this software, not sure about it, you can try look into the \Winodws\Start up folder, delete the .lnk or exe file that start this program.
First remove it from the Today items
Then go to \Windows\Startup and delete the file called GPRS Notify
Finally soft reset

Hi As soon as I insalled SPB Pocket plus, my remove program list is empty. Everything is working fine. But I can't remove any installed programs.
I have backups so it's not a problem. I just want to see if I can have SPB Plus installed and not have this issue.

I had it installed and did not have this issue. Although it did HOG a lot of RAM up so I don't use it anymore. Try doing a soft reset and see if the programs are displayed in the remove programs list. If not, you may just have to restore from a backup and try to reinstall pocket plus.
I had the same thing happen - I soft reset and the programs came back. However, I had other issues (inability to open and use Messaging for one) so I ditched the new 10/24/07 ROM and went back to the older one. No more problems.
This happened to me when I installed pointui.
To remove programs, I have to re-install software then uninstall software.

I have Hermes100 (i.e. imate jasjam) I have flashed the WM6.0 properly and it is working very good but something was noticed and I dislike so much:
in WM5.0, when you close the app it is really closed and if you check it from setting ------ system ------ Memory ----- running programs
u will not see it any more (this is in WM5.0 after press X for any programs)
here in WM6.0 "my version is TNT2.0" which is an upgraded version of crossbow windows mobile version; the matter is:
1- when u close the program or any other app just like contacts, calender ...etc it is not closed, and if u check:
setting ------ system ------ Memory ----- running programs
u will see all the applications that used to open !!! .....
2- I tried the feature of: TASK MANAGER
which enable u to a real close after press X for whatever program or application, when I did this I noticed the following:
- very slow to apply the closing (and some times it take a few seconds)
- and the most disliked thing is that when close "contacts" {I said contacts because it is the only one do the problem} the JasJam freez while closing it and nothing happen ... I waited for seconds, minutes .. nothing happen
so I forced to do a reset to quit this freezing !!!!
The Primary solution:
1- reset the jasjam
2- to close every application manually from
setting ------ system ------ Memory ----- running programs
one by one ..... but leave the contacts application running !!!

Hmm.. As default WM5 does NOT close apps properly when you click the [X] button - and ditto with WM6. App closing is managed by Windows itself.
Try installing the HTC task manager which allows you to "minimise" an application by pressing [X] or close it properly by pressing and holding [X] (depending of course on how you configure it!)
Do a search and you will find the cabs to install it.
So, a friend of mine recommended some applications. Among them was Sprite Backup. So, after a while, I've decided that I don't need this program as I haven't used it once. When I tried to remove it from Start-Settings-Remove Programs here's what I get: It asks me if I want to remove the application from the phone -> I chose YES -> after a couple of seconds it shows me this: Sprite Software was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs? -> Yes -> nothing happens, it just returns to the list of programs from the Remove Programs menu.
The program is installed on the memory card. Could this be the reason?
I'm thinking of just deleting all the files from the Program Files folder. Do you think it's a good decision? Are there any other ways of removing the program?
There are some applications that help you remove programs. SKTools is one of them. I don't think it's free though and I'm not sure if your job will be done.
I have tried to remove it from the REMOVE PROGRAMS option but it says:
Cookies home tab was not completely removed. do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?
Please can anyone help me in this issue so that i can restore it to the originals.

Yes i have reintalled it so many times but its still not working well and i also tried to disable HTC SENSE and then uninstall it but the problem is still there... pls help..
Go to your settings tab and select Menu>All Settings
Then tap "Today" and select the Items tab.
Uncheck HTC Sense and tap "OK"
Then go to the Start menu and tap "Settings", then "System", then "Remove Programs" and remove Co0kie's Home Tab and CHTEditor if that is installed as well. If you get an error trying to uninstall them, first try to reinstall the program and, if successful, then uninstall it.
After you have successfully uninstalled the programs go back to the Start menu and tap "Settings", then "Today" and select the Items tab. Reselect HTC Sense and tap "OK".
That should work.

you can make CHT look like standard sense..
for me, removing of CHT never worked perfectly..i had always to hard reset.

I installed CHT and the Editor and when I tried to run the editor I received an error informing me that CHT version doesn't match the editor's even though both of them are v 1.8.5. I tried uninstalling CHT without any luck. Uninstaller hangs. I managed to uninstall the editor and tried again to uninstall CHT but no luck. I disabled TouchFlo and tried again, same thing. I also installed MemMaid and checked all dependencies to remove any startup or running process/service but this also didn't work. I also tried to install over again and it hangs since it first tries to uninstall the older version. I checked the registry but most of them are directly related to Manila so I kinda gave up since I am trying to avoid a Hard Reset. Any other ideas about this?

Disable sense and reinstall CHT. (reinstall will remove previous version)
Done that but it hangs. I left the phone untouched more than an hour but nothing happens.
After Uninstall cht lock screen lockscreen.can seem to be vanish how can I fix it?

Please don't make false claims about others work. If CHT is really a virus then I think someone would have posted that 2yrs ago. It's been around way to long and I doubt the legit version is infected. Sorry you are having trouble.

I think you will have to do a hard reset to clean your device.
