Flashing Custom Rom (Already searched) - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I'm a noob to the Titan. I've flashed a Blueangel, several of them actually; a Wizard, a Hermes, and an Apache. I've used BuildOs and built my own rom for the last one. I have read the Titan wiki and searched Google, but I can't get a custom rom to boot to save my neck.
It is an XV6800, Verizon.
I did flash Hard-SPL, currently Olipro 2.40. That worked, but everything after that...nada.
I upgraded the radio to 3.x...I forget the exact version. I didn't try to reboot because I had the old rom. Then I flashed a custom rom with Buildos, GPS enabled. The flash went nicely, but I couldn't boot past the splash pages.
So I went back to stock.
I left the radio at 1.3x and flashed a NON-GPS rom. I know that you can't do a GPS custom rom with a non-gps radio. Same thing...splash page and then frozen like the ice age.
So I went back to stock, the old one. I don't necessarily mind flashing stock, because I always did that between custom flashes with the other phones.
Figuring that I must be some kind of Titan idiot, I downloaded the MR1 update from Startech and flashed that. It went fine. The phone works. Life is good. It's just that I'm really in love with flashing...roms that is.
Is it the bootloader version? Do I need a particular version of bootloader depending on GPS, non-GPS? I've read the tutorial on ppckitchen.org and I thought I followed it to the letter.
Thank you. The forums here have taught me so much. All the creators and cooks out there are awe-inspiring.

Totally flummexed with replacement phone

got a new phone from verizon and have been trying to upgrade it.
I first loaded the new MR1 so I could make sure I had the latest radio.
Then I installed the new Unlocker (2.7).
Then I tried to run DCD 3.2.6. It wouldn't go past 0% then went to the Recovery Mode.
Then I tried PPCGeek kitchen, same result.
I read that I need to go back to a NON GPS ROM.
I just tried dcd 1.6.7: SAME RESULT.
So...now what do I do?
Have you checked the Wiki?
Yes, I looked at the wiki...I read through the whole FAQ and the troubleshooting guide.
am I missing something? can you give me a clue?
try flashing from sd.

MR1 to DCD: Noob edition request

So I've had my xv6800 for a couple of days now, Verizon sent it to me when my samsung i760 **** the bed. I immediately flashed the 6.1 update, mainly because I love threaded sms. After browsing the forums though, I would lke to take the plunge to a custom rom. I would like to make sure this goes smoothly, and this is the information that I have gathered so far:
I need to do 4 things:
*Flash neuSPL 2.47 - This seems simple enough. Throw it on the SD card, and run it.
*Flash the Rom - I'm doing DCD 3.2.6 Since it's an exe file, I'm guessing I will run it while connected to the PC.
*Install the found in the rom thread
*Flash the radio - This is a weird file extension. Do I run it from the phone or while connected to the PC?
I've been trying to search but it seems like I'm going in circles constantly being directed to threads I've already read, but not finding the information I'm looking for. Am I going in the right order? Is the a "Rom flashing for noobs" thread that I can't find?
read my signature...
Verizon LOCKS down the gps on MR1. If you want to be able to use it on custom ROMs, you have to flash a Verzion ROM from before the MR1 update and then flash to the dcd ROM. Other than that, the steps you listed were pretty much correct. Good luck and welcome to the dark side .

Help! Problems with flashing ROM.

I have a HTC Hermes and I have been having some problems with my phone. I read on some threads that people have been having similar problems and a possibly solution would be to change the ROM and/or the Radio.
SO NOW I have been trying to update the ROM yet it keeps coming up with errors.
Errors: [222]- Device not responding.
[260]- Update Error
I have tried MANY things. Vista, XP, putting PPC in boot loader mode before hand, not using boot loader, changing settings of Active Sync (disable connection through USB). Each of these things have been tried off and on multiple times, to ensure the problem was not just a one time thing.
Please let me know if there are any known solutions. I am hoping this will solve my random hard resets, frozen screens, and data loss.

Did you flash HardSPL on your device? If not, you may be stuck, depending on what the issue is. Regardless, if you're getting connection-related errors when trying to flash, you should try using another cable as that may be a contributing cause to your issue.
yes I believe I did. Actually when i go into bootloader it actually says Olipro (aka Hard SPL). And yes I have tried various cables, not just one.
Use sd card method.
1. Format sd card fat32 and copy .nbh file to it. Rename to "hermimg.nbh".
2. insert sd card in phone and go to bootloader (hold power, ok key above flywheel and reset with stylus, hold in until the tri-colour screen appears).
3. As long as sd card is fat32 and herimg.nbh file is named properly, follow the prompts.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF HARD SPL V7 IS INSTALLED (I know you said you have it but this is a warning for others)...
Cheers...
I have heard about this step but to be honest I havn't heard of file formats nbh. I have a rom that I am using now (which I do NOT want to use anymore) that has a nbh file in the folder. BUT the ROM that I want to use (TNT and 1.19 Radio) do NOT have this file format, it does have .nbf though. Is there a difference and could you please give me some more help. Maybe some advice about where I could get nbh files for ROMs?
Thank you once again

An NBF file is not a Hermes ROM. The Hermes (and later devices) always use NBH files. (Well, not considering extracted .nb files)
EDIT: Under no circumstances should you try to flash non-Hermes ROMs! While the flashing would usually fail safely, do not take that risk. Always flash ROMs made for the Hermes.
Go to the wm06 forum on here, it has a heap of roms available to flash, most are now 6.1 but I have seen 6 now & then. Do a search for "Hermes 6.1 roms" and see what you come up with.
There are heaps of roms here so pick 1, don't ask whats best as each rom is a personal preference and what 1 person needs may not be for you so do some research.
You're lucky you haven't been flamed for NOT checking if the rom was for your device, though its early yet.....
Cheers...
It worked great thank you all. Now, I can test new ROMs and hopefully my phone will not continue to do the random hard resets and all. If it does I will continue to post on the thread.
Thanks again.
Just be aware that flashing the radio rom is the riskiest part of rom flashing. It has almost a 100% casualty rating of bricks if something goes wrong with the flash. For this reason most people recommend the sd card method as the safest (lets be honest, if you reset your Hermes in the middle of a flash or use a flat battery, you deserve a brick) as there are less chances of stuff-ups.
If the radio rom works well, LEAVE IT ALONE... Unless there is a MAJOR gain by upgrading its best to leave well enough alone.
Cheers...
So I did what you all told me to do. I used the SD to flash my ROM. I am now currently running TNT official Hermes. The phone WAS running fine but today it hard reset itself once again. I have decided that it is time to try to flash the Radio to see if this process will help it from the random hard resets that it has been going through. My question is: Are radio roms also built for specific phones or are they typically universal?
Also if anyone believes that the hard resets are not because of my radio and may be because of something else please say so.
Thanks again

Radio ROMs are most definitely NOT universal. They depend heavily on the hardware, which is different between different models. You should never, ever flash a non-Hermes radio ROM on your device. The one possible exception is the Trinity, which has similar radio hardware.
As for your hard resets, you should flash an official Hermes ROM first (find a version without a radio) and then flash a custom one. It's an issue with how Big-Storage is implemented in custom ROMs.
So I ended up trying out TNT (for HERMES) and didn't like it so I went back to Pays Lite (which does have the nbh file.) I also found custom radio roms and flashed a 1.56.70.11 radio for Hermes. And it seems like this might have worked but than again I have only used it for a little while. The phone did hard reset it self, but I believe that was because I was running to many things and it froze. I am going to continue using this and see how it ends up. IF by any chance I do run into the same problems what do you recommend I do. (remember I have tried multiple roms and now have tried a new radio also)
Thanks

As I said in my previous post, your hard reset issue should be solved if you first flash an official ROM (from HTC itself or a carrier) and then flash a custom one afterward.
As Trancecoder sai, I'd also check for bad blocks as this may be a symptom. Use MTTY to check and fix bad blocks but remember that there may be "branded" bad blocks done by the carrier.
Cheers...
Sorry for the late reply, I have been quite busy with other things. I would like to state that I went along with putting a stock ROM onto my Herm and left it on like that for about 1.5 weeks to make sure that it was working ok. I than uploaded Pays Lite once again (I love this ROM) and I have been using it for a few days now and it has been working fine. I recently added some mods like cabs and a new radio just yesterday and I will let you all know if anything else goes wrong. I thank you all for the great suggestions. I certainly learned a lot. Thanks
I'm going to try a different radio,current is 1.16.00.00.
I've unlocked with pofs V3a unlocker.
I've already flashed a few roms to find one I like.
Just worried about bricking it
When I go to flash a radio rom it states....
"Intended solely for 1.11 SPL.You MUST have 1.11 hard SPL installed to flash"
Pretty sure pofs unlocker installs 1.40 olipro?
Do I need to downgrade to SPL 1.11?
So many threads/posts to read my eyes are starting to bleed.
I've found the Hermes radio rom thread so loads to look at but which one
My first question is: Are you flashing by SD card or by USB?
Probably USB but do have sdcard.
I recently learned how to flash by SD. You must have hard spl to do this. It is much easier and sometimes even faster than doing it by usb, not to mention the most important part- it is safer. You may look in this thread to figure out how to do it.
SPL info Needed.
Thanks for your help Shortie but..........

I've not read anywhere that I MUST have 1.11 when flashing radio?
Pretty sure I have hard SPL 1.40.
I have downloaded SPL's V7 and V9 but not flashed them.
Is it ok to flash SPL V7 and then flash ANY radio

Reverting to 1.95 Stock ROM

Hey guys,
With this 1.95 AT&T ROM, just a question:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439346
- I had the HARD SPL and cooked ROM before this
- I then flashed to this ROM because I wanted to go back to stock for a return.
Is that it then? Am I good? Or do I have to continue to flash the Stock SPL as listed in the HardSPL instructions for reverting to stock?
I'd really appreciate any help guys. I need to know if this ROM 100% puts me back to the way I was before starting with flashing. Or is there something else I have to do?
NOTE: I posted this in the thread for the actual ROM, but because of a lack of activity in that thread, I was afraid of not getting a response. Sorry for any inconvenience.
When I returned my Fuze, I just flashed the stock ROM and left Hard-SPL and didn't get any static. They didn't check the bootloader or anything. YMMV, so you may want to revert back to Stock SPL if you think they would check the bootloader. Personally, I would feel confident with just the stock ROM.
Those clerks don't know chit unless it has to do with the iPhone.

i having the same pro flash and no luck with the radio wish i could get the stock radio back
The stock radio is in the Radio thread. Flash that and you'll be fine. As was said however, you shouldn't even need it as i doubt they'd even check that.
Hey thanks for the replies, guys! That's great.
That will probably work for my return. But, I also have my wife's phone which I'm going to flash back to stock and I just want to make absolutely sure that EVERYTHING is back the way it was when purchased. Also, just for future reference I want to know how to get all components back to normal. Where is that stock radio thread?
Any help on that? What else am I missing?
UPDATE:
It just occurred to me that I should have written down the ROM and radio version numbers before doing the HardSPL and ROM flashes to try out some cooked ROMs.
Anyway, I've got the stock AT&T ROM on there now, but how do I know what radio came with my phone? Is there anything else I should put back on there? I know they won't check but I just want to be thorough.
Thanks!
if in the US it had to be the 1.02.25.32 radio as i dont think it came with any others initially in the US. if u go to the wiki it lists all the stock roms and radios that came with the device.
huh??
So, if I now have that radio and the Original ROM am I all back to stock settings now?
I'm confused though. Because out of the box I did the following:
1. Hard SPL (File called: RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3)
2. NATF ROM 2.2
...then decided I wanted to go back and did nothing more than flash the stock ROM.
Without flashing back an SPL, how could I have still ended up with everything back to stock?

Stuck in bootloader, do i need stock alltel rom?

I attempted to update my ppc after attempting to fix mms, and everything went wrong. I started this thread yesterday on ppcgeeks: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=51416 & then http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=51461
I tried to update to vetvitos black pill rom, not realizing it was a gps rom, and now when I start my phone, it has a PPCGeeks and PPCKitchen splash screen. At the bottom it says "No Radio"
I have an Alltel 6800 flashed to cricket. I have been looking for the answer for almost 24 hours straight now, and have not found one.
From what I've been reading, this is what I think ive learned:
The only way to get these roms working is with the Olipro 2.4 SPL on my phone, but the only way to get the Hard SPL on my phone is through activesync, which can't be done if i can't get into my phone. I don't think my phone is bricked, but I don't know where to go from here.
I think I need to reflash the phone to the stock rom (i think its 1.4) but I can't find it anywhere.
Can someone please help me?
just reflash with any stock one ... go to htc's site and you can download them there... the new one stock ones for alltel have GPS enabled on the radio too ... just dont let the customizations run when flashing to stock then flash to the rom of ur choice
