I got a refurbished xv6800 with the newer verizon software on it (unfortunately I don't know the exact version). Ideally I would like to end up with one of dcd's roms and a gps radio. I want to use the gps standalone (not with agps) because that requires a data plan (correct?) and I have a data block. Everything I do I ends with Google Maps showing "Seeking GPS satellites (0)..." Here is what I did:
Unlocked with Hard-SPL 2.47-no2chem
Flashed dcd 3.2.6 with radio 3.42.40
(realized I needed to downgrade first)
Relocked with nueSPL-Relocker
Flashed 2.09.605.8 with radio 1.30.00
Unlocked with Hard-SPL 2.47-no2chem
Flashed dcd 3.2.6 with radio 3.42.40
Relocked with Titan_Relocker.exe
Flashed 2.09.605.8 with radio 1.30.00
Unlocked with Hard-SPL-MFG
Flashed dcd 2.1.0 with radio 3.27.00
With each flash I verified that QPST had all the gps settings checked, my location setting was on, the external gps settings were correct, and I waited outside with a clear view of the sky for about 5 minutes. Along with Google Maps "Seeking GPS" message, ##DEBUG shows N/A under GPS for everything.
What am I missing here? I'm getting to the point where I just want to shoot the thing...

Why did you flash back to 2.09 after 3.2.6? Did it not work at that point?
My process with a new phone is to go from MR1/2 when I get new titan, relocker, 2.09, nue2.47, radio 3.42.50, DCD 3.2.6, then aGPS fix (you can put mode=0 at this point). Thats it.
I would maybe try flashing MR1 then relocking. Are you flashing via sd card for each step? Try using *22899 instead of soft resetting, and dont use PHM regedit for the registry hacks, use total commander. Let me know how things go, could be the hardware though I guess...
Don't use google maps. Use HTC gps tool or gps viewer so you can see possible locks.
Also look in the following thread for my standalone settings. But first relock using titan relocker. Then unlock and flash 3.42.xx radio and then DCD 3.3.4 or 3.2.6 rom. Then follow the thread for my gps settings

Correct, it wasn't working so I figured maybe something went wrong when flashing to 2.09 so I did it again just to be sure.

I was kinda using a combination of sd and usb.

That's a good point, I downloaded the HTC GPS tool and will use that for testing.
Ok, here is what I will try today:
-Flash to MR1
-Relock and flash to 2.09
-Unlock with nue2.47
-Radio 3.42.50
-DCD 3.2.6
-aGPS fix and then mode=0 w/ total commander
-I will use *22899 instead of soft reseting...
Thanks a lot for the help. I really appreciate it.

Thanks once again serfboreds and drewcam. I really have no idea why this wasn't working before, but it is now. I ended up flashing MR1, downgrading to 2.09, then used dcd 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.50. I only enabled GPS in QPST and didn't use the aGPS settings or mess with the registry and it worked! I really have no idea why this didn't work the last time I did it. The only thing I did different was use sd instead of usb for the dcd image.
Verizon only..
if you dial #228 after you upgrade to an GPS enable ROM, you'll need to downgrade back to stock old .. 2.09 ROM ..then re-upgrade
only for Verizon users.. this started a few weeks ago .. Verizon close down
their GPS server to none paying customers and anyone that runs #228
will no longer get GPS service even if they change IP's .. for me standalone mode works best with setting #1

This the Alltel 3.35.671.9 ROM with GPS enabled (it is not enabled in the OEM ROM). Enabling GPS is the only difference this will make to your phone. This is OS-only so you will need to flash the OEM ROM first.
Download GPS-enabled Alltel ROM
1. Flash the original Alltel 3.35.671.9 ROM.
2. Connect to PC and copy TITAIMG.nbh from my ROM to a MicroSD and remove it from the phone. Or alternatively, use WinRAR to extract all the files from the original .exe file from step 1 and replace RUU_Signed.nbh with my TITAIMG.nbh file.
3. Install Hard-SPL 2.40 from Olipro Link
6. Reinsert MicroSD and hit RESET. TITAIMG.nbh will install. If it does not, hold POWER+CAMERA while pressing RESET, you will briefly see the tri-colored bootloader screen and it should load the ROM. Or if you extracted the RUU from the original .exe file, just run RomUpdateUtility.exe.

Someone on PPCGeeks requested an Alltel version of the GPS ROM with all the original apps (Office Mobile specifically) intact so here's my contribution. I figured I'd go ahead and post here since PPCGeeks is down right now.

The only change is I stripped Sprint stuff out, added Alltel stuff in. No other changes whatsoever. It will fix your splash screens and extended ROM back to Alltel if you flashed the official leaked Sprint firmware.
There is no IPL/SPL or radio in this ROM. You must first flash the 3.27 radio and Olipro Hard-SPL 2.40 first. Then copy TITAIMG.nbh to a FAT32 formatted MicroSD. Put the MicroSD in the phone and press POWER+CAMERA while pressing RESET to get into the bootloader. It will begin flashing automatically. No RUU is included because I couldn't get the RUU to work with Hard-SPL 2.40. However, maybe my old USB 1.1 laptop is the cause. If you'd prefer to try an RUU, just rename the file to RUU_signed.nbh.

the ruu works fine for me with spl 2.40, and you dont have to rename it at all, as long as there is only one .nbh file in your ruu folder.

I never could get the Alltel WM6 RUU to work with SPL 2.40, nor the one that came with the Sprint leaked FW, nor one I downloaded from your FTP. They always cause the phone to reset at 1% and I get "ILLEGAL COMMAND" on the RUU. They all worked just fine with the old Hard-SPL 1.20 and also the 1.06 in the relocker. Weird. My laptop won't ActiveSync with any of my devices unless I turn off "Advanced network connectivity" in the control panel either, so it must be my old Thinkpad laptop. It's a P-III antique.
At any rate, flashing this ROM will be even easier for those who can use an RUU.
I don't know if anyone is interested, but I've updated this ROM for 3.35.651.2.
Nevermind.
Updated for 3.35.671.9.
guys, i downloaded the new Alltel ROM yesterday. As stated, still wm6 but with RevA capability. I'm new to this stuff, but it looks like the above alltel ROM just gives the new stock ROM GPS capability. Is that correct?
Yes, it is a permanent way to get GPS capability with the stock ROM.
I theorize the necessary changes can be made into a simple cab file so you don't need to flash the ROM unless you want the GPS enabled permanently. I plan to make a cab later today as some people want to try it out.
yeah that would be cool.i have the new Alltel Radio, and i'm running DCD 3.0.1. the reason i went with 3.0.1 was i thought it enabled GPS. Now that i've got my device up and running, i see it does not.
DCD3.01 does infact have working GPS my friend.....
could be, if that's true my alltel engineer friends doesn't know about it. He told me GPS would not be enabled on the 6800 with Alltel. He even runs DCD, he can get it with a Sprint Radio, but not with the Alltel radio. again, that's just what he told me.
What he meant to say was that the ALLtel update does NOT include the drivers (3 of them) in the operating system thereby not enabling it, but the radio itself will allow GPS to work.... I'm flashing it right now, be back in a bit.... If you flash a DCD 3.0.x ROM you will have GPS drivers.....
gotcha. i'm not doubting you..just wasn't sure of that.
i have dcd3.0.1 for alltel. 3.0.4 was taken down. I didn't think the radio was going to allow it..that's why a few friends i have are using the sprint radio. I'm a techy, but not in this world, so i'm learning...

GPS does work with the alltel 3.37.20 radio and any dcd 3.x.x, on any carrier.
Is there any real improvements to this radio or is it just a higher number? Thus intreguing people.

If it is only three drivers, couldn't we just nab them from a GPS enabled ROM and manually copy them to the proper folders?
Okay, I've looked around the forums and tried a number of things. I started out wondering if I should install the new update. Got to looking around and decided to just install a custom rom. Was a little weary because of my experience with the xv6700. Anyway. Ran SPL Unlocker to install 2.40 Oilpro. Installed the Radio 3.27.00 and dcd 2.1.0....did a *228 and then my phone would not pick up service. Tried a few things but since I was in a hurry just ran the vzw update and it fixed it. Later I come back and decided to try an do this right. So I run the RadioRefurbish. It worked and rolled me back to 1.35_002. Still no GPS. I've tried everything including this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix
Still no change. I do not get a fix. I mean GPS Viewer can see the GPS but I never get anything from it. I have a bluetooth GPS and can get a fix inside on a cold start in 5 min max. I left this thing for hours. Indoor, in the car, etc... nothing. I'm at a loss. I am currently running SPL 2.40 Oilpro. Radio 3.42.02 and dcd 3.2.3. With PRI 1.35_002. I had read of success with the new vzw PRI and NueSpl 2.47. Tried to install 2.47. Gives me checks on all of the prequisites and then when I continue it goes into the bootloader and displays spl 2.07 I have to then soft reset and if I go back to the bootloader it's still 2.40. I am at a loss and would really like to get this working. Any suggestion from any of you oober smart people out there would be great or just someone that might know what else to try.
P.S. Thought about trying to flash back to the original rom but had read where that can easily brick my phone. So that's about the only thing I haven't tried.
oober? lol...
First, what guide were you using that had you using such an outdated bootloader, radio, and rom?!
Secondly, am I to understand that you ran the new MR1, WinMo 6.1 from Verizon, with the new PRI? If so, I would try GC14's fix, he has a thread on it, to roll you back to the old PRI.
Thirdly, definetly use NueSPL 2.47 for flashing. Grab the newest radio, 3.42.50. Flash that. Grab the newest dcd, 3.2.6, flash that. Then install the Verizon Carrier Cab. Then do a *228 option 1. Call verizon *611 if need be, to re authenticate the phone if you can't make calls or use data.
Fourthly, go into the Phone control panel, and Get Settings on the Location option. Make sure location is enabled.
Fifth, do the new aGPS fix that was posted by gc14.
Lastly, get a program like Google Maps that is known to be highly compatible with GPS. Set it's GPS options to COM4, 4800 baud. And enable Use GPS. After initializing GPS for about 15 seconds, you should see a very fast lock of about 5-20 seconds or so with the new aGPS fix.

PRI rollback really required?
Is the PRI roll back really required? I went from the MR1 update to DCD 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.40 and got GPS working without rolling back the PRI. My process was;
1. Titan GPS Fix (almost the same as AGPS fix wiki)
2. PRI from hell (only did first step, flashing back to stock)
3. Fix from PPCGeeks (My GPS did not work at all till I did this)
4. Verizon xv6800 aGPS Fix
As far as the PPCGeeks fix goes, I'm now using the PDE IP & port# in the SUPL_AGPS keys in the registry, long with GPSMODE=4. Everything seems to be working great. Maybe I'm just a fluke.
The stock rom I flashed back to when I started the PRI from hell fix was VzW_titan_20273_a2.rar (I think this is the right one, only one I found on my laptop that seems big enough). Now that I think about it I did do the second step on the PRI from hell, I changed my bootloader to 2.40, and reloaded DCD 3.2.6.
i believe that guide would be from PhoneNews as its still one of the top results for "GPS on HTC Titan." Of course no one reads that there is an updated guide, but even that isn't that recent (around release time of 3.35). plus, they give ZERO credit to DCD or anyone on any forums, and took if upon themselves to host all the downloads, and not link to the forums where these originated.
3.42.50 has issues with gps on some phone for some reason. flash with the sprint radio and it will work with out issue.

Well, not saying it's a better fix, just the one that got mine working. But thanks to the xda-dev forums it went from a searchlight to a laser beam.
I've got a solution for GPS on the MR1 release for the xv6800. I should hopefully have a full release soon, but there is hope if you're stuck and unable to get anything except (possibly) VZ Navigator working due to the firmware being placed into locked down GPS mode.

I was able to roll back to PRI 1.35_002 using Radiorefurbish. I would love to install nuespl 2.47, but how. I downloaded it, ran it. It formated my card and ran. Reboots into the bootloader with a spl of 2.07 and just stays there. When I soft reset, reboots as normal. If I enter the Bootloader after that it's still 2.40. I've tried it from a few different Roms thinking that maybe there was an issue. BTW, How bad (dangerous) is it to flash back to original stock. It's about the only thing I haven't tried. I had read that going back to a non GPS rom is a bad idea.

The reason you are stuck in 2.07 could be because of your sd card. try a different card. SanDisk works really well with them.

I had the same problem trying to use nuespl 2.47. I just kept getting stuck at that screen. soft resetting and trying again. I gave up for a few hours... and came back to it and with absolutely no rhyme or reason, it just decided to work one time... I was also using the SD card method with a 2gig micro. I hope it just decides to work for you.

Just use the gc14 guide to roll back to the old PRI as stated and be done with it...

I should have room to upload it on my comcast account. I'll PM you a link when it's done. Standard warning that flashing back to stock has bricked phones (from what I've read). Didn't happen to me, just saying.
Flashing back to MR1 should work. From what I have been told, the problem occurs if you flash to a pre-GPS version after having upgraded to a GPS-enabled version.

ah yes... MR1 would be no problem, but I believe pri from hell fix first step is referring to the pre-MR1 stock (if I'm not mistaken). so I see where animez is coming with the warning. At that step, all you can do is hope for the best I suppose...
Ive flashed back to the ut of the box" stock rom form the SD card several times with no issues at all.
now as far the radio i don go below 3.xx
I still cant get my GPS to work after i updated my PRI, even before i updated it was very hit or miss, I would get 10 sec locks or none at all for days
Has anyone here SUCCESSFULLY downgraded the PRL on their XV6800 when using NueSPL 2.47 ?
I remember in the past people, including no2chem himself saying that downgrading SPL is a huge risk and may brick your device, so I thought I'd ask around.
I've been unable to remove the PRI from my device after doing the MR1 update.
Using tools like HTC GPS Tool, I see output from the GPS, but it never sees any satellite.
I did the Verizon AGPS fix that GC14 posted and I had some thoughts on the issue.
I was wondering if it is making it worse to have done the AGPS fix because of not having a data plan (I use Wi-Fi only).
Current Setup:
OS ROM: DCD 3.2.6 (Kitchen'd)
RADIO: 3.42.40
PRL: 2.03_002
SPL: NueSPL 2.47
Any ideas, input, comments, suggestions, etc?

Downgrading SPL? You can do that without any problem. PRL? That's a different story. But yes. You can do that as well. The setup you have, I have successfully got GPS working. Have you followed the thread on this?

I've been following a few threads in here on the issue.
Which one(s) are you specifically talking about?
None of them have truly helped me yet. I can't get GPS locks using the official verizon radio (3.37.71 or whatever) nor 3.42.40 with the new PRI, but I had it working with the same setup on the OLD PRI using Olipro 2.40.
If you have already updated to MR1 and locked down the GPS hardware on your device, you could try this out instead of trying to unlock the GPS hardware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424387
Currently, this needs you to be on MR1 to work. Including the MR1 GPS driver may allow it to work on a custom ROM if you want to try building your own, though that has yet to be tested.

still not what I'm looking for.
I'm going to try unlocking my device and flashing the stock ROM, letting customizations run, then unlocking + then flashing the new VZW update and not running customizations, then going to DCD 3.2.6 again
sorry for the double-post, but I decided to do what I said in the last post.
I downgraded my SPL just fine using the Titan Relocker (not the one that puts you at 2.07 SPL, the one that puts you at 1.xx) then flashed on Stock VZW, then Olipro 2.40, then my kitchened DCD 3.2.6 ROM.
No bricked device.
I did notice my phone went into ROAMING when I flashed on the Stock ROM, but I didn't bother trying to call out, I was a man on a mission, and just kept going.
I did *228 option #1 when I got into 3.2.6 again, didn't need a new A-Key or anything.
GPS is STILL not working, as the PRI version stuck somehow.
*sigh* Problem not resolved... and I wasn't having any luck with doing the RadioRefurbish method either.
Any ideas?
I just replaced my xv6800 through Verizon's warranty and after upgrading the phone can not get the aGPS to work no matter what I try. Here is what I have...
SPL-2.47No2Chem Titan SPL EVT
ROM: 3.08.666.1 (PPC Kitchen ROM)
Radio: 3.42.50
PRL: 0003
PRI: 2.03_002
ERI Version: 4
With the same ROM and Radio I can get the old phone to connect and find sats... but the new phone won't see anything.
I have reset the phone (R to reset), reflashed the radio, performed the Verizon AGPSFIX, used PPST to rewrite the PRI (and then did the AGPSFIX again) but nothing is working.
Does anyone have any ideas? I can't figure this one out.
Thanks!
The MR1 PRI blocks gps. You must do the below link to get gps for a custom roms working after MR1. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=834294&postcount=4 There is no way around it. The pregps rom will give you PRI 1.35.002 which doesn't block gps. And i think you list the wrong pri because 0003 is probably the hardware version.
Thanks drewcam888! That fixed it!
Doesn't *228 opt 1 update the PRI? I did that a long time ago to revert back to the GPS ROM and never put the MR1/2 on my phone and i'm back at PRI 2.03_002 PRL = 51345
I get GPS fine but no aGPS anymore. I am using Telus IP info.
Ignore this. I accidentally hit reply and not edit
*228 updates the PRL not the PRI. Also if you have a data connection then you can get some gps to work with PRI 2.03 but only on MR1 not with a custom rom.

That's strange. I've followed Joshkeller77's tutorial after I got a replacement phone last September which had MR1 on it had had working aGPS on it up until around April when VZW was having issues with their aGPS IP which then I switched over to Telus's IP. It really hasn't worked the same since then. I've only updated my phone with Scott's/Bitserve/RyanMogul ROMS since last Sept.
Can't get it to work

Okay, so I have MR1, the PRI is 2.03_002, I've installed the Valhalla, the HTC GPS Tool and I cannot get a sat lock on anything. Indoors, outdoors, moving or not, I can't get a lock to save my life. According to the instructions by Skywing and GC 14, I don't have to do anything else...but what am I doing wrong?
GPS working on telus ROM
Thank you to all the posts I really don't know which steps made it work, I bricked the phone a couple of times but thanx to the information gathered from posts HERE!!! GPS is working on a telus ROM using Goggle Maps on my HTC P4000 (tita100 etc...) ROM 3.54.661.1 radio 3.42.40 program port 5 GPS hardware port 4 (or window managed)
Just some things that worked for me in the end GPS enabled sweet
Anyone encountered this error before? It gets to 8% and then phone reboots and I get this on my PC screen. It says Error [328] (see attached image)
I am using Radio 3.37.75 (verizon), and my bootloader shows 2.40 Olipro
Any ideas?
Try this RUU it is version 3.16.4.3.
Yes, thats the version that I am using. I think... when I run it, it says 3.16.4.3 in the window title bar. (see screen shot)
EDIT: I tried it anyways, and I got the same thing. Do I have the right bootloader? Would a different one help?
what are you trying to flash
trying to flash my verizon xv6800 (which has an old dcd rom on it, radio 3.27 i think) to the new radio: 3.37.75.
Then i will flash with a newer dcd or ryan mogul rom.

Just follow my post here and only use the files and Radios that I provide. Make sure you read a few times so you understand, and dont skip anything. Most important based on what I have read in this thread. Use only the radios I provide on my share site and take your time paying close attention.

Thanks, I'll do it exactly like that. I will keep you posted. I have to get a new micro SD card, I only have an SDHC 8 GB
The radio can be updated via usb. I do it all the time. But it does hard reset the phone in the process.
I would try a newer radio like 3.42.40. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRadioROMs
I got my radio from there and have no problems updating the radio with ruu.
I followed the directions exactly like in Ryan's post mentioned above, (used USB instead of SD card), and it works!
Fully functional. I used Radio 3.42.02 (somewhere I saw that it was recommended over the others, went with it to be safe). Then Flashed Ryan Mogul Rom 2.2 Heavy.
Thanks everyone!

i have spl olipro-2.40, rom dcd 3.2.6 and want to upgrade radio to 3.42.50 using usb. should i downgrade spl to 1.20 before upgrade the radio? or i stick with current config and update the radio using RUU?
Still cant load radio
Obtained 6800 originally Alltel, not sure which radio, Had Olipro 2.40 installed, would hang on Alltel splash screen.
Could not get any RUU loads to complete (from USB or SD card), usually would fail around 50%.
Eventually was able to get RyanMogul 3.1 Cricket (lite) to load, but shows no radio and eventually screen goes blank. Never goes into active Sync mode.
We force boot loader mode and try and load several radios including Titan_Radio_ROM_3.42.50.Alltel.rar, Titan_Radio_ROM_3.35.04,
but keep Getting error 328 from RUU when I try to load a radio..
tried RyanMoguls "Here is a fix for GPS for all you VX6800 users that gps will not function!!", but cant run relocker because no active sync connection.
Stock Verizon ROM RUU also gets error 328.
Any ideas.
