NoDataInRoaming: DISABLE AUTOMATICALLY internet in roaming, RE-ENABLE in home network - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

Sorry.
This project has been abandoned.
Is NO longer supported nor will be updated.
----------------------------------------------------------------
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
This program, for all version on WindowsMobile (5.0, 6.0, 6.5), is
designed to disable AUTOMATICALLY preventing re-connection
of data/internet (gprs, umts, hdspa, internet connection, wap
connection) during roaming or abroad (eg: I TIM) and restore/enable
(if previously enabled) AUTOMATICALLY data/internet during
normal phone state under home network (eg: 3 ITA).
Works on international or national roaming.
I was used to force phone to stay in "only umts mode / 3g mode" to
prevent roaming with other operators using GPRS so i lost many
calls/sms when i was without UMTS coverage: this was not acceptable,
so i decided to develop this app.
EVERYTHING IS AUTOMATIC: NO USER ACTION NEEDED!
With Modaco NoData (or NoGPRS or similar app) you was used
to manually disable data/internet. But, if you forget? If you have to
connect to get mail o google for something? This is boring and time
losing: this is why this app exists - to make this job easy and
completely automatic and transparent to you.
To install this app download the CAB to your mobile or transfer via
ActiveSync, click on it and proceed with installation. Now reboot.
Nothing else. Simple and easy. Now this application will auto-run
on startup, always (unless you uninstall it)!
You can also temporarily disable it: on start menu click on this
application icon - a warning will ask you to disable it. To re-enable it,
simply follow the same procedure used to disable app. Easy?
Tested on TouchHD, TouchPRO, TouchPro2, Diamond, Diamon2, Omnia, OmniaHD, Experia.
You can freely distribuite this application and/or include in your own cooked rom without permission.
In case of privileged execution requirement SIGN the cab with developer
test privileged/trusted cerificate. Make sure to install ROOT test
certificates from Microsoft's SDK.
Registry Configuration & Hacks
HKLM / Software / DYNAMIC+ / NoDataInRoaming / DisableActiveSyncWakeUp (DWORD)
Set this value to 0x00 to auto-wake-up ActiveSync every time
you enter in home network (eg: startup, roaming->home).
This will start a connection to internet to push mail and sync from
outlook remote account. Remember that battery usage will change!
Set as 0x01 (default) to disable this feature.
This saves battery but you could not receive mail with direct push
immediately on home network.
If you use DirectPushed mails set this value to 0x00
HKLM / Software / DYNAMIC+ / NoDataInRoaming / EnableNotifications (DWORD)
Set this value to 0x01 if you wanna be notified throught a baloon
when roaming has been detect or re-entered in home network.
Useful to debug network!
Set this value as 0x00 (default) to disable this feature.
HKLM / Software / DYNAMIC+ / NoDataInRoaming / Version (DWORD)
This is a packed DWORD reporting installed version.
0xAABBCCDD where AA=major, BB=minor, CC=revision, DD=build.
Eg: 0.9.2 => 0x00090200 (or in decimal 590336)
Do not edit. Never.
HKLM / Comm / ConnMgr /Providers / {7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA} / Connections / ?????? /
Where ?????? means the connection you are going to edit (eg: my connection name).
It shoul be similar to your APN or your familiar connection name from your ISP.
Creating a DWORD value called __Skip__ and filling it with 0x01 this
program will not disable this connection. This is necessary to allow
MMS on roaming or a particular connection/APN over roaming!
You can create as many __Skip__ as you desire. There is no limit.
Obviusly skipping all connections makes this program un-useful
è in roaming nazionale o internazione.
altrimenti no. Non ci saranno addebiti strani.
supporti l'interfaccia RIL oppure SNAPI. Ad esempio tutti modelli
di telefoni HTC (touch, pro, ecc...) i vari SAMSUNG (omnia), i palmari
LG, E-TEN, HP...
Tutto qua.
E' possibile connettersi forzatamente in roaming?
richiesta, così a vostro rischio e pericolo vi potrete connettere
in roaming.
utenti.
Questi vari settagi li potete trovare sopra, nella sezione
Registry Configuration & Hacks
Qual è l'ultima versione del programma?
La 0.9.2, rilasciata il 6 gennaio 2010.
Posso distribuire questa applicazione?
Sì. Puoi anche includerla nelle tue ROM customizzate,
senza chiedere alcun permesso oppure consigliarla ad amici.
Quanto costa il programma?
Niente. E' completamente gratis.
Current version: 0.9.2 (last / abandoned)
Release date: 06-JAN-2010 (there will be no updates)

this is different: with modaco's one you have to MANUALLY disable data connection.
with this one a background service monitors for proper home-network
enabling or disabling data-network automatically (if roaming)...

thank you, great app!

Very good application
Hi,
this is very good application. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time. I live near the border between Ireland and UK and I had to have my phone on manual network, otherwise it kept switching over from o2 ireland (home) to o2 uk (roaming), which made me pay high bills for data usage. Now I can leave it in automatic because it cancels the data. Excellent.
However, could you implement a change or an option?
When it connects to o2 UK (roaming), it still tries to connect to data, even though it is cancelled one second later automatically. (This is what it takes the programme to make the changes). This costs me money still, because o2 Ireland charges a minimum fee for connecting to a data call during roaming, whether I download anything or not.
I suggest for your programme to disable data call as soon as we lose signal of our home network, therefore, when it connects to roaming, the data is already disabled and it will not attempt to connect before the programme kicks in. I think this would make it even better
Thank you very much, dani

this is my first-intention...
but i think on some phones winCE api CeRunAtEvent is "too late"
or fails during fast-network-switching...
in the next release ill try another api, first of all tapi notification (but i think
there will be problems in flight mode as "cellular line" is disappering) and
notification queues from hw or some ril-notifications...

Great work brother, cheers.

this is awesome!
I'm in a 3G deadzone due to the dink next door who built a giant townhouse, so I constantly get hit with roaming charges on data.
So far so good, i'll post back any problems i find.

New version is out (the 0.5).
Download link is the same of #1 post: http://www.codebreakers.it/pda/NoDataInRoaming_Setup.cab.
Now has been rewritten using undocumented RIL apis.
Some device could be unsupported due to nature of RIL.
Please test.
I have personally testes 3-4 days under HTC touchProd+touchHD+diamond+TytnII
Hi!

great, I'll try it & let you know, thank you, daniel

Thanks, your application is great.
I'll made a link to your cab and discussion inside cellularland.it , if you disagree please tell me and I remove all.
Thx again

Thank you for new version
Hi,
Thank you for the new version. It seems to be working well. When I connect to roaming, it doesn't connect to data to disconnect again anymore, which is great. I was in the uk yesterday and it changed over to roaming very smoothly and I haven't got charged for data at all. Great. Thank you,
Daniel

OK great.
I have tested this app with Samsung OMNIA and works.

version update: 0.6.
added auto-sync on data-reEnable for best "direct push" experience

One more thing
thank you for update.
Just one thing, say I am in my home network and the phone network is set to manual, and I lose the signal in my home network but it gets it back after a few seconds (without roaming), well, I've noticed that the data call does not get restored to what it was before, so it stays disconnected. (where you would get the symbol 3G, I would get only a x, and no data connection)
For the phone to connect to data again, I have to either connect it to roaming and back to home network, or ask for the phone to search networks and select manually home network again.
What do you think it may be happening?
Thank you.
I'm using version 0.6 of your program. HTC Polaris

hi,
your application seems to be great, i think many people are waiting for this kind of application. We don't understand why this functionnality isn't included in windows mobile ... maybe because specific accords between microsoft and mobile providers ...
David

Thank You DYNAMIC+!
It is possibile to add in your app a setting to toggle between noData in roaming and noData at all?
It would be a nice addition, grazie in anticipo

please note that data would be restored ONLY in home network, so
if you are using another network (in your country) for me "is national roaming" so data is disabled.
please explain better...
please tell me operators (country code and id)

i think in the next next release ill add this - but i have do develop a control panel
this is not my priority
--

Ok, I'll try again
I live in Ireland, though close to the border with the United Kingdom. My home network is o2-IE. Roaming network is o2-UK.
Normally I have my mobile on manual network selection and not automatic, so that it does not change from o2 IE to o2 UK all the time when the roaming signal is stronger.
So, at times when I am in my home network (o2 IE) and I lose the signal in my home network just for a few seconds (maybe I am driving), and it reads no service for a couple of seconds, when the phone gets the signal of o2 IE again without changing to o2 UK (roaming), I've noticed that the data call does not get restored to what it was before in my home network (o2 IE).
It stays disconnected, even though it now displays o2 IE on my phone (home network). (The symbols that appear at the top are the bars and a small x letter, where normally I would get the symbol 3G, and the bars with a smaller symbol saying it is connected to data. So obviously, even though I am in my home network o2 IE, it does not connect automatically)
(My data is set to "always on")
So, if I want the phone to connect to data again, I have to do one of these two things:
a. Either connect it manually to roaming (o2 UK) and back to home network (o2 IE),
b. or ask the phone to search networks again and select manually home network (o2 IE).
Then all data connects again and it works well.
If you are wondering why I keep my phone in manual network selection is because when I go to roaming, if I choose o2 UK, I don't have to pay roaming charges for receiving a call. While if I left it in automatic and it connected to orange uk, or vodafone uk, I would have to pay for receiving calls during roaming. (I have to pay for data while in roaming, no matter what network I am with, so I really thank you for your program that works so well).
I'm using version 0.6 of your program. HTC Polaris
Well, I hope this explains it better,
daniel

Is there any way to make Hermes work on UMA?

Does anybody know anything about making HTC TyTn (Hermes 200) work on UMA (unlicensed mobile access = seamless handover between Mobile network and Wi-Fi)?

Does UMA WIFI calling work on Samsung vibrant?

Anyone installed the application?
Nexus one can use this UMA feature on T-mobile USA network.
What is 'UMA' WiFi calling? Some of the Froyo ROMs have WiFi calling enabled. I am using it on Obsidian V1. Works just fine.
UMA = Unlicensed Mobile Access, that was the phrase used for Blackberry calling over Wifi. They are not calling it UMA for Android, simply WiFi Calling.

The recently leaked Froyo build (JK2) has a Wifi calling app, but it is NOT UMA. UMA offers seamless "handoff" when moving to/from cellular/wifi, this app does not. Once you initiate a call via Wifi you cannot move out of range of the Wifi signal or you will lose the call.
It is primarily intended as a solution for people traveling, or people who have crappy voice signal in their homes or at work. So on and so forth..

tmobile has a new app they have got from another vendor which they rolled out on mytouch 4g and couple of other devices (it is UMA) so it should be coming to vibrant as well..
the mytouch 4g app is the same as the one you can download on the themes/apps forum. again not uma as it does not allow seamless integration of wifi/gsm. if you connect via wifi, and unplug your router the call is dropped, where is on UMA the phone auto switches back to gsm. as far as I've tested this app is only Working on Froyo, and it works OK, for many it runs in the background. CONSTANTLY and causes UI Lag and frame rate issues when opening menus.

This is what I had to do, maybe it will give you some clues. As you know the elite has no method for editing or adding APN so you have to hack it. My phone has android 4.1.2 on it.
First I went and found the correct driver for the kyocera hydro elite, you have to google it if you go to kyocera site and look around I couldn't find it. Install the right driver, plug it in make sure device manager sees it. I am using windows 8 64 bit so I got the 64 bit driver.
Then get KINGO ANDROID ROOT, it's free just google it. Load the software, plug in the phone. If you've got an antivirus on the phone stop it because it was stopping the software from seeing my phone. Root the bugger, use the tester to be sure you have root access (puts an app in the phone).
Download titanium backup paid version (PRO $5.99 google store) the freebie won't do what you need done. Download APN backup and restore (this will delete any old default stuff that might be stuck in your APN settings and if you try something that doesn't work this also allows you to delete it and try again). Download Offline Sim APN database. Use titanium backup pro to make APN backup and Offline Sim APN "system utilities" (they need full access to work, the setting is found under backup and you scroll right to get the menu to switch it to a system utility). Make sure USB debugging is turned on within the developer options in system setting .
The next part is the pita, I searched a dozen sites before I found the proper settings and I'm not even sure if text/multimedia text is working right but I have HSPA wireless internet which I think is about the best it's going to get as far as I can tell. I don't think I'll ever have 3G much less 4G but that's fine I don't watch movies or anything on my phone it should be enough for google maps/navigation etc. Speed test says about 5 mbps to a local server downstream, and about 2 upstream.
Use APN backup and restore to delete APN settings just to be sure there aren't any defaults hiding anyplace. Use offline sim to have it quiz the sim card and select the straight talk network then edit the information in the boxes from what you've found or want to play with. Don't foget to hit "copy" in each box you either clear or edit. Then hit the box on the top that says add these settings, it will then take you to the APN settings and there should now be an entry there. I had problems sometimes with the entry not appearing, I had to soft reset the phone and also make sure you don't have anything like tweaker on the phone, just the two utilities I listed above and titanium pro. Also be sure you have USB debugging checked and have turned off your antivirus.
I hope this helped you, took me two days to find all this and figure it out.

Cipher Algo A5/4 support in GSM

Hi,
I am trying to look for a UE that supports the A5/4 Cipher algo in GSM (2G) for some tests.
Hope that there is someone that can help me with a list of UEs (cellphones) that has A5/4 capability.
