How can I change my mms settings. when I open messages and the click settings then click connection settings it shows the settings but will not let me edit them can anyone help with this thank you
I belive there is a way to edit these settings via cdma workshop but i dont know too much about that
I cant get the phone to connect to the work shop
Does anybody know if they have rooted this phone yet I read the forum about it it does seem like they have yet
Root is a work in progress.
What are you messing with your settings for? if your having issues just run *288 and let it do it. if that doesnt work use the RUU Update, and then reprogram your phone and use *288
I cant I have the Eris running on Cricket I have the phone, internet, text and the market running great but would like to have mms
How did you get it running on cricket? Didnt you have to flash stuff for that work, if so please post me links asap. It will inevideably lead to root.

no, as above, edit security settings in epst
uhhh, yoo hooo! guys, the htc based android phones are dirt simple to program for use on another network..
I've had my eris running full on alltel over two months now with the unl. data plan. Never looses 3G, alltels 3G coverage is wicked sweet.
Getting Voice & SMS working:
Get current .PRL file for your network(alltel, sprint, vzw, cricket, etc..), google for it. Mount your phone thru USB, drag the PRL to the root of the SD card.
Unmount
Dial##PRL
Enter SPC code
Select PRL from SD
Restart Phone
Activate phone with your carrier, lie about what phone it is, i told alltel i'm a Samsung Delve, a phone they have.
They'll tell you to *228 it, this will work perfectly after you've programmed the PRL described above.
Hang up with them.
Getting data to work:
Dial ##PST send.
Enter SPC code
Go to security...
Google for those settings for your carrier and enter all that is asked for in that menu screen.
Do nothing else, restart the phone.
Now, setting up MMS on the Eris is a pain, I still can't get it.
When going to Messages, Settings, Connection settings, ... i am not allowed to edit those settings, they're stuck at vzw values.
IF .. and ONLY if I install the "quick settings" app in the market, disable mobile network, THEN go to messages, connection settings, .. i can now edit those values and change them to alltel's mms addresses... go home, them go back into messages, connection settings, all is saved, good. If I go and re-enable mobile network, ... the mms connection settings switch back to vzw... GAHH!!!

It's probably just allowing you to input settings but unable to save them due to lack of permissions. Looks like MMS is screwed until root gets here :\
how do you get web working on crickets network ive change the settings from the security but still no luck.
hi all few weeks ago i was looking for a way to surf the web on my eris and i had to take it to some one to set it up and he charged me $30 to put a shortcut on the home screen that say proxy settings but after the leaked 2.1 which unfortunately i installed on my eris instead of the rooted one i lost that shortcut so i did my researches and i found that if you download any cut from the market open it and go to New shortcut then Activity wait for the list to load scroll down to proxy settings open it and create a shortcut go bak to home screen and look for the proxy settings shortcut open it and for hostname use wap.metropcs.net and port 3128 click save restart and you be able to surf the web using the internet app
note:if you are connected to a wifi the internet app will not work in less you turn mobile network of and restart for that i have opera mini it will work on wifi but not on mobile so i use internet app for mobile and opera for wifi the rest of apps will work normal on wifi not on mobile only the mail app work normal on wifi and mobile use it to send and receive pix messages
also you must do the settings on ##7764726# and ##778# from @vzw3g.com to @mymetropcs.com for more information on that refer to these post http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1466303
Do not skip any steps!!!!!
This works...
WAP
1: Goto settings -> Connections -> Connections
2: Remove any connections that are there
3: Open your phone and enter ##778#, select "EDIT" and enter your unlock code.000000
4: Set the following values:
M.IP Settings:
MIP_MODE = Simple IP Only
M.IP Default Profile:
NAI = [email protected]
Home Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Primary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Secondary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Security:
HDR AN AUTH User Id = [email protected]
PPP USER ID = [email protected]
PPP PASSWORD = metropcs
then menu and + save changes

so now only i need to set the mms to send pix because i receive picture messages but can't send

You'll need APN Backup & Restore (free from Market) to get your MMS working right. There's tutorials all over about what things need to be put in, but I just modify the 'Production' area in the xml file. Some people create/rename a whole area called 'metropcs'.
I've done this with Cricket. Good luck with Metro.
I have don it but not success

HTC Eris Metro internet apps (other than main internet browser) to work on metroweb
I have the HTC Droid Eris all flashed from Verison to MetroPCS on Android 2.1 rooted, I have Web(on the default UI Sense internet browser. All I want is to be able to use Android Market and other Apps like Trapster (to detect speed traps) without using WI-FI. I want to be able to use these internet dependent applications on Metro's mobile data network. So far have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know the secret Metro PCS settings that will make this happen ? Any ideas?

Is There a Way to Backup Your Metro Flash Settings?
I had my Eris flashed to Metro, but it wasn't syncing my contacts with Gmail correctly. People on these forums were saying that a hard reset would fix it. Tried that and of course all of my Metro Flash settings were wiped and my phone was reverted back to the original Verizon network. Is there a way to backup the Metro Flash settings or create some type of restore image, so I don't have to take it back to get reprogrammed every time I do a hard reset?
How do I know if I have all the APN setting correct?

what about internet and mms?
Thanks about this guide now I have internet and mms working fully. I would kiss you in rl for this guid seriously I spent like week searching and finally found.
Just a tip you can't have mms working without having internet working. You get internet working then edit mms setting with apn backup and restore.

Download APN Backup & Restore from the market.
Back Up your APN's.
Upload them here, so that other MetroPCS users can have MMS working properly.
You would be a hero.
Also, if you want to actually help people, you can do a nand backup, then turn your phone on and delete all of your contacts and information the best that you can, then do a nand backup again, and upload the second nand backup.
APN Backup & Restore is how you edit APN's. They're not REALLY APN's, they're just for MMS, on this phone.
##778 pw 000000 is how you edit most connection settings
iptables in the system is how you put EVERYthing through the proxy (need root)
and APN Backup (then edit it on a computer in a text editor) is how you can edit the APN's.
Make sure you DELETE before you RESTORE or it will just add on to the APNS already there.
here is the eris flash for metro/cricket enjoy...
www-megaupload-com/?d=PV7PQ9UI
change the dashes to dots..
Yes, get your custom ROM in there, and then flash the .zip (within this .zip) that is appropriate for MetroPCS.
It's all there, and it should work perfectly.
Is there anyway to flash the Droid Razr to metro pcs and if so can someone provide me with a link? If I'm posting in the wrong place just let me know.
i'm thinking you may need more than just flashing for that.
Do you know what I might need then? This verizon bill is killing me. I know people have successfully flashed the razr to Cricket. I mean I know I'm gonna need to root kit which isn't a problem I've done that kind of thing plenty of times and I've just been procrastinating on doing it on my Razr for some reason.
i know how to flash it to metropcs just cant get it into the metropcs system so if someone can help me as far as getting it into the system i can definately help them on the falshing part

I found this
http://www.cricketusers.com/verizon...-cricket-wireless-talk-text-mms-internet.html
At the moment this is a placeholder for notes. The tutorial might have to be finished by someone who has more time than me to work on this device. Mine is on Verizon now. I will probably poke at it a little bit more when I get home and back to a normal schedule, but throughout December, it's going to be hectic for me. I'm going to try and add pictures so someone will have some knowledge going into this where I had none. If someone can get a hold of a Bionic tutorial, this might be similar.
Currently talk and text works but 3g data drops out. It works when it's connected but wants to cycle off and on A LOT.
As a good rule of thumb, always try to backup your settings before modifying them.
DIAG MODE
Verizon Droid RAZR Diagnostic Mode How To
NOTES (semi based off Thunderbolt tutorial)
CDMA WS 3.5 or later will give you more options and another method of writing data profiles to the device.
QPST does work HOWEVER you cannot read and then write the original settings to the phone (after modification of course). You have to start fresh and write ONLY.
CDMA AUTO (PRL) MODE (info from RLockwich)
Go into *#*#4636#*#* - Went into phone information (Set to CDMA Only PRL, DNS check allowed, Query CFU enabled).
QPST
Add the port for the device if required under QPST configuration. It's going to be the DIAG port. Just check device manager to see what port that is.
Use the Service Programming application under the QPST folder to access the phone. Connect to it but don't read.
Now follow this tutorial to write the proper information:
http://www.cricketusers.com/flashing...s-cricket.html
Write to the phone. Reboot it once all the writing is done and catch the boot to put it back in DIAG mode. If you don't it's no big deal, but you will have to power it down and get it back in DIAG mode before continuing.
CDMA WS
Open up CDMA WS and connect to the port with the RAZR. Go to the security tab and send the SPC 000000. Then go to the memory tab and send the DROID NV items which can be found at whiterabbit.org. It should write the NV items and fix the data.
UPDATE: The following might be required
Go to the "Other" tab and navigate to "R-UIM" then click read.
Change it to "NV Only" and write to phone. It should say Successful
Close out CDMA WS and reboot the phone.
Phone Settings (info from RLockwich)
Go into the ##PROGRAM select option 14 for LTE I turned off LTE bppanic, LTE Movement detection, and disabled Class 1,2,2 APNS
Additional Instructions (info from RLockwich)
Just went through all the settings again, I hope everyone can have as much luck as I just did. I was thinking, and I remember seeing the end of the thunderbolt tutorial says the last step is to remove the 4G LTE microSIM. I had tried that before early on when I first flashed it, but when I removed the card, it showed No Sim, no network connection and a SIM symbol with a exclamation point. I just tried it again a hour ago...Pulled the SIM, showed no network and then I rebooted the phone... FIVE times on and off all with immediate and STABLE 3G at 10 minutes a time between rebooting. FIXED. Done messing with it.
UPDATE 12/19 - After this last post it's been 4 days since we cracked the 3G cycling issue, and my phone is working excellent! I'm very glad I was able to be a part of this and get credit work any work I put into this.
Dina's Notes:
Got everything working THANKS to Chris and RLokwich! Oh, and for those of you that are not yet successful with this flash, just re-read the entire thread. Everything you need is HERE!
It was not all smooth in the beginning.
Insights:
1) No need for BP tools. If your phone is on the homescreen, just connect it to the cable, choose PC mode and set up the port in HW.
2) Mine took like 5 master resets before 3g showed up. So in case you are pulling your hair as to why 3g not showing up, master reset the phone. Turn on wifi. Bypass activation screen (backwards C method works if you keep trying for like 2 minutes), go through the set up pages and 3g will be there.
Everything is stable so far. 3g working like a charm.

The only thing I've realized now that is wrong, is no MMS. I have MMS through the tutorial on bypassing the apn through GoSMS, but I would very much like to not have it to be that way. I thought early on in this flash that I did have MMS, I think I was just being a smart ass so I changed some settings in ##PROGRAM for the SMS/MMS part that I copied from the Thunderbolt tutorial. I don't know if I messed something up. I was also thinking I've seen people having two Cricket apns? One for internet and one for MMS, does anyone know if that may fix it? I was thinking it may be that, but in my apn for cricket already, I edited it and filled in all the MMS settings for that APN. Maybe that's something I did wrong, I don't know.

Hello from a noob. I have done the saferoot, text edited the sales dat to AWS and changed the other file (forget the name) from OFF to ON. Basically I switched the IMEI on my Metro account to a 545. I kept the same SIM. The store says there demo SIM does not pick up the internet either. The internet worked for 2 minutes and now there is no logo (4g lte, H+ etc) and no connection to the internet at all. I have tried going into the bands etc. but I think I'm missing something (I guess obviously). I have done "everything". Updated the APN settings etc. etc. It is stock rom except the root and the minor text edited changes. It is on 4.3 android. Can anyone out there please tell me how to turn off the stupid VZN LTE band option (I think that is my problem) however when I put in the *#276... command it doesn't pull up the menu that lets you access the band option like I've seen on Youtube. It gives me a different menu with UMTS at the top. I still haven't found the turn off the VZN LTE option. Any help at all would be appreciated. The dialing and text messaging work so it's a clean phone but for some reason the phone is blocking my damn internet. Thanks for the help.

Yes sir. I have done it all and nothing has helped. My only thought is finding that switch for the Verizon band or something else in the programming but I can't get to that damn menu. And the *#276.. number is not working on the phone anymore either.
So for those interested that may have Metro and are having the same problem I finally just updated the phone with the stock 4.4 firmware (clean wipe and all that) with Odin and it now works and the LTE no longer shuts off. After hours and hours of agony I finally did it. I tried rooting and everything on 4.3 and I don't care that I lost root - I'm just glad it works now. I do appreciate for what it's worth all the information on here and best wishes to you guys for all the future modding, unlocking the bootloader and all of that. See you around.
Hello,
I recently got my Palm Phone PVG100 from the US, i'm in the UK (and i absolutely love it!)
I have managed to root it and de-bloat it of Verizon stuff (despite not being overly techie - thanks for the fantastic “how to” guides).
There is 1 problem - i can’t change the APN, which means I can only get 2g / ‘E’ speed with my mobile data, though my SIM can do 3g and 4g. When i go into the APN settings, I can click on the ’+’ to add new APN, but then it’s all greyed out so I can’t actually add anything.
I’m in the UK, on an MNVO of Vodafone in case that makes a difference. Interestingly, when i tried a SIM from a different operator, the phone connected to 3G.
Is there any way to update the APN? Ideally, not too technical...
Thanks
Sam
Bump!
I have the same problem. If you Google "Android 8.1 edit APN" you'll find lots of solutions, but none of them worked for me even with root access.
Did you guys ever figure this out? I have the same problem. I'm trying to get a Tello SIM to work with an unlocked (formerly Verizon) Palm PVG100, but the APN settings are all greyed out. I can call and text, but zero data. If you found a solution to this, please post. Thanks.
EDIT: Forgot to mention. I found the solution. Did the rooting that they explain on this site, and I was then going to pull the APN conf file off the Palm with abd and then edit that, adding Tello, and then put it back, but .... the rooting had already freed up the APN interface (no longer greyed out), so I could just enter my APN info. Thanks much to the developer.

Did the rooting that they explain on this site, and I was then going to pull the APN conf file off the Palm with abd and then edit that, adding Tello, and then put it back, but .... the rooting had already freed up the APN interface (no longer greyed out), so I could just enter my APN info. Thanks much to the developer.

can you describe what you did in a little more detail? i have a pvg100 and mint mobile. its got 2 t-mobile apn with no data, i got it rooted with magisk but im confused what to do now iv tried 3 different ways that require root one changing the apn file with sqlite, hasnt worked for me even though i successfully replaced the file. i put the mint apn in there and took the t mobile out but it just reappears if im on wifi and spazzes if im not. i also downloaded a file this guy on here had thats supposed to fix apn and get rid of verizon logo but when i enter it in the terminal it says its not recognized as an internal external command or operable program or batch file. i havent figured something out about the path for adb or really how to use it yet smdh
Jeez, I did this so long ago, I don't remember any of the details. Not much of a tech guy, so I did a lot of googling. I did eventually get things going though through trial and error, and have been using the Palm for a couple of years on the Tello system (which I like a lot, by the way). Anyway, if you got it rooted with Magisk, then I think that was the major thing I had to do, because, as I wrote above, I didn't have to jump through the hoops I thought I'd have to to get the APN. Before rooting, I couldn't modify the APNs, but after rooting, I just went to Setup-> Network & Internet -> Mobile Network -> Advanced -> Access Point Names -> the "+" sign and I created a new one called "Tello", with values Name:Tello / APN:wholesale / MMSC: http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc / MCC:310 / MNC:240 / APN type: default, supl, mms / APN protocol:IPv4 / APN roaming protocol:IPv4 / APN enabled/disable: APN enabled.
I think I got those values through googling. Anyway, that got it up and going for phone, text, and data. Sorry I don't remember much else of what I changed, but I think it was mostly just rooting it and then finding the right values for the APN settings.
Good luck.
