The BEST ROM ever - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hi, I'm trying to find the best ROM for my P5500 (Nike, Dual Touch) I found the LILLY 1.7.1 WWE, and it's great, but English, so I'm shearching a the best existing ROM in french, and, what ROM you are using, I installed the Hard-SPL 1.22, so, I would like to have your help for this, 'cause I can't find a really good ROM, I tried the ROM with D3D integrated, but it was slow and didn't work...
So, thank you in advance for your help...

There is no best Rom. Everyone have to figure out the best rom for own.
Take a look at Netdrg's Rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498322
it's in french and new...

I agree with vcdwelt - roms are such a personal preference based on what you need and what they contain (do you want a clean, fast rom or one that's got all the apps included that you need).
It's just best to try some and see how you get on.

Thank for your answers, I'm actually using the netDrg ROM, but there are some bugs, and it's not Hardware accelerated, Do you know a good Hardware Accelerated ROM, and, if it is possible, in french?

Try D-trains Insmonia rom.

hummmmm

Which WM6 Rom fits best for me?

hello,
sadly my prophet's wm5 configuration is not ok anymore and i get more and more problems with it.
i have to hard-reset my device, but instead of starting again with i fresh wm5 i thought i simply flash a wm6 rom on the device.
my problem is, that i don't want to do this several times a month. so i am looking for a wm6 wwe rom, without any (still open) major bugs.
i thought the smart v3 rom is ok, but in its thread i read, that it doesn't charge while it is connected to the pc and that mail accounts get lost after soft-resets.
do you know, which rom would satisfy me?
i don't need any built-in third party applications, so a clean rom would be nice.
also i want to be able to reassign all hardware buttons to other apps.
thx in advance for any suggestions
if you want a stable bug-free wm6 rom for your prophet. There is none. read the thread for each of the roms if you want a clear picture of what to expect. Otherwise, i suggest you stick with the original rom. In my opinion, that's the best "bug-free" rom...

Help on flashing for a noob...

Hi all
I'm a total noob here and i'd like to flash my Qtek s200 G4 WM5 to a nicer rom. I read a lot of posts here and the wiki but i need your advice before i do anything.
Here is what i'd like to have :
- a rom without bugs or problems if possible
- a rom thats quite fast (i need ram and proc to use video and stuff with my bt headphones) and doesnt use too much battery
- a new interface (black vista like if possible) with scrolling and cube (like the pdaviet video on youtube)
- a tutorial or a step by step do do it without killing my phone
I know thats a lot to ask for a noob lol.
By the screenshots i like the PDAViet 4.0.0.0.6 Touch. If its stable and doesnt use much battery i'd like this one but maybe i should try a newer one???
My questions :
- Do i have to upgrade to WM6 first?
- can i come back to my old wm5 rom (which works good) if i dont like the new and how?
Please feel free to give me links to posts i missed.
thanks for your answers and keep the good work.
I think you can find alot of useful links and information in this thread. I also wanted to have the pdaviet 4.0.0.06 rom, but I went for Gullums multilingual Coffie rom instead, I haven't regret it, works perfectly, faster and more stable than my old WM5.

1) no, you must HardSPL/SoftSPL your device first.
2) yes! Depening on the brand of the device, you can either download the official RUU (check out the wiki) or perform a ROM Dump to a spare SD card. (also check out the wiki)
Thanks An3Azz.
l3v5y, i'll check this one
any other member wanna tell me which is the best rom?
the more stable and the best looking?
I think the opinion of most users here is that the best ROM is in the eye of the beholder! I like my own ROMs as I cooked them to be the way I want them, others like other ROMs because of the way they are...

[Q]Localization options in cooked WWE ROMs, need answers

Hi Everyone,
and greetings, this is my first post here. I'm done with the Wiki, read through all the stickies, ROM and radio threads, and I also searched the forum for info. I'm very thankful for everyone contributing to the this forum, and appreciate the hard work of the cooks.
Sorry for opening a new thread for this one, but I have found nothing in connection with it.
I own a Sunnysoft Interwrite localized (hungarian) HTC Touch PRO T7272 device with the shipped multilanguage WWE ROM (1.90.401.1 WWE 08/01/08 ROM, 1.02.25.19 radio, 52.33.25.17U PR, 1.90.401.101 EXTPKG), and i'd like to decide whether it's worth for me to flash and try cooked ROMs or not.
My baseline is "if the damn thing works, don' f*ck with it" /(c) the famous problem solving flowchart/, however I'm not satisfied with the device performance and speed, and I'm curious if it can be improved.
Objectives:
improve device ROM performance, speed
improve radio,
implement performance tweaks,
install some cool apps,
_but_ somehow retain hungarian localization,
warranty is not in focus so hard-SPL can go,
but I don't want to mess with security unlock (so other device radios are out).
To make my decision, I have my questions, still unanswered (excuse me if it's a bit lengthy):
1. Do cooked WWE ROMs (T.i.R., Elite, PROven, ROMeOS I've considered so far), support localization in my language in any way (TF3D menus, and the WM 6.1 also), i. e. will I be able to select a localized language?
2. Is it possible (and is it worth it) to apply Sunnysoft Interwrite localization after flashing the above ROMs, or do the packages contain this Sunnysoft app at all? If so, will applying localization this way deteriorate performace significnatly, thus reverting it back to the level of the shipped ROM?
3. Does the linked reconstructed 1.90.401.1 WWE multilingual ROM have the Sunnysoft localization, so that if I'd like to return to the stock ROM by flashing this reconstucted one, will I be able to get my device in to the shipped localized state? (This is the _most important_ question, because it gives a sense of safety for trying cooked ROMs, and as I read olnly experiencing will tell which one works best)
4. If, after the above questions answered, I decide not to mess with cooked ROMs, what are the options for improving performance without flashing ROMs (i. e. solely with performance tweaks, registry settings new cabs, etc.)? Is there any chance to achieve the same performance results through these solutions?
5. Are there any risk in trying only upgrade radios, for example missing or incomatipble mobile network setinngs etc., or it can only be the case if these radios are applied with a cooked ROM?
Thank you, and any answer or help is highly appreciated.

OK I'll try again...
Could somebody please help me with this? Anybody?
the beauty of a cooked rom is that they remove junk that many people don't want and add things which people do want. This may increase or decrease speed compare to stock rom depending on the rom. There are selected tweaks such as pagepool and cache size, but these tweaks may only be placebos. HTC connection setup should include your localization. You'll really have to test out the roms to see if they are really for you.

Thanks a lot for your reply, it helped with Q4. and I guess it's an answer to Q1. also.
If I interpret this correctly, this means that there is localization in these WWE ROMS, but does it include also the WM6.1 interface, and is it achieved through this crappy sunnysoft app?
And can you help me with my question about the posted reconstructed ROM (Q3.), will my device be in the same state if I flash this one back after trying some cooked ROMs?
Thanks for your help once again.

Fuze ROM vs Touch Pro ROM?

Hi,
I just bought an ATT Fuze and want to "clean it up" by installing a clean ROM on it.
I've done a lot of search here but there is SO MUCH information that in the end i'm still not clear about what's the latest and what's outdated.
So i'm asking a couple of questions. Answers or redirections will be much appreciated.
- If I want to install a custom ROM, should I pick a Fuze ROM or a Touch Pro ROM? (I am not using the phone in the US so I don't need to stick to ATT ROMs). Is one ROM better than the other by nature?
- Is there a "ROM-Status Wiki" or somewhere where one can go and check what are the latest FUZE/TPro ROMs available and what are the features in them? Or is going through all the threads the only way? What if I get a ROM and its not the latest? because there are so many threads out there.
thanks
The Wiki has all the info you are looking for:

Im assuming that you are referring to Official (non cooked Roms)
The latest English Touch Pro Rom is 5.05 which can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478657
The Touch Pro Rom is better because it has better GPS signal and no ATT crap and likely to run faster.
You can also get the latest Radio Rom which is 1.12.25.19
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487994
The only you need to do is get the cab that convert the ATT Fuze hardware keyboard when running Touch Pro Rom which can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474192
Before you do all this you need to Run HardSPL on the Fuze which can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
This is a latest ATT Fuze 5.08 "Test Rom" so you dont need to install the keyboard fix cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487994
Here is some latest official Touch Pro ROM Asian Versions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494603
Anyway read through and make an informed decision for yourself. Everything else I did not list are cooked ROMs which I personally not a big fan of. I like the official ROMS and make the customizations myself.
Thank you both of you. Between your two replies, you've answered exactly what I was asking for.
Much appreciated. Thanks again!
Rom Location?
I bought my FUZE in the US. But I am using it in Asia.
If I slash it with an English Asian TPro Rom, what difference does it make VS a non Asian ROM?
nothing really same old stuff. you just have to set your regions and time dislay and calendar display format. and of course change the keyboard layout to accomodate TP ROm on Fuze. You better off using the Asian Rom if you are using in Asia cause the Radio Rom should work better.
once again, thank you.
Thanks to your answers, I am getting more familiar with Raphael and the ROMs and trying out stuff.
I also like to install Stock (shipped) ROMs and then make my own customizations. So I have flashed the WWE Asia rom and its working very well.
But now I want to install the new Rhodium TF3D 2. It is recommended for OS builds 21000 or higher. However the latest shipped ROMs are less than 21000.
So now my question is, how can I upgrade my OS build to 21000 without installing a cooked ROM? I know the answer is probably "no you can't" so my real question is, "being a person who likes to stay as close to a Stock Rom without going into cooked roms, what the best bet to achieve this?"
Thanks again in advance.
dont know of a solution
read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498424&highlight=2100
I'll give it a try. thanks!
How do i check the rom build, is the same as the rom version?? sorry fo the noob question
Settings -> System -> About
Should read something similar to this:
CE OS 5.2.21051 (Build 21051.1.6.4)
WinMO 6.1 = 5.2
ROM/SYS = 21051
AKU - 1.6.4
You can obtain additional info from Device Information as well.
HTH,
Closing thread guys..
Information on this is already available.
Peace,
Joshua

[Q] Custom ROM closest to Stock?

I know I could have used the search engine for the question I`m going to ask you, people, but I haven`t got the slightest idea about what to search for.
I would like to use a new ROM for my HD2, but I want something which is close to stock, because I want to use the SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 as well. One of the key features should be a WORKING SMS application, which would NOT contain the "stuck in outbox" bug.
Please help me decide upon a specific ROM and, if I posted in the wrong section, I kindly ask a moderator to move my topic where it belongs to.
Many thanks in advance!
Just read each thread - but AFAIK there isn't one ROM using SPB
I have seen some ROMs coming pre-cooked with SPb inside, but that`s not my point. All I want is a simple ROM, better than the official 1.48, which has the SMS issue solved...
NRGZ28 (EnergyRoms) has made a build with:
Energy.Leo.23557.Titanium.Apr.13.7z
or
Energy.Leo.21898.Titanium.Apr.13.7z
Titanium means that HTC Sense is not cooked in so you can use SPB Mobile Shell (this is also the reason he made those 2 titanium builds)
As far as i see from his twitter page he intends to cook a version including spb mobile shell as well
@Iosif_Octavian A new SPB themed energyrom will be made pretty soon here.. about 13 hours ago via Digsby in reply to Iosif_Octavian

Sounds pretty good, actually... Could you provide a link, please? I've found something but it`s for the HD, not for the HD2.
Also, I`d like to mention the fact that I`ve found a ROM named Topix which seems to be pretty much similar to the stock one, except for some new apps...

so, that's all the cooked roms and official roms from 1.66 then, I bet you'd struggle to find a rom that doesn't fit the above criteria.
Well there's no official 1.66 for my device as HTC won't take my S/N for whatever reason. So right now all I can do is go for a cooked ROM. The particular thing I want my ROM to do is only to fix the SMS bug and nothing more. That's why I have such a hard time finding one, because all of them include other changes, which I don't want to have. I mean, it's ok if it includes several useful apps, but I don't want a whole pile of new stuff...
if you hspl you don't have to go for a cooked rom. all the official roms are available in the official roms thread. hit that bigg fatty first link in the first post.
just flash them over usb, they'll work fine.
But will it be available in WWE? I really like my HD2 speaking English...
And while we're at it, is the SMS issue fixed in the 1.66 ROM?
And another thing... is 1.66 the latest official ROM? I checked the post, but it only mentions the 1.46 (or sthing) and the 1.48...
in the time it took to ask you could have looked at the link and seen most roms are available, especially wwe and uk provider stock roms.
There are enough cooked ROMs out, everyone should find their own, just flash one and try it out every cook spends a lot of time on the development. So go ahead and try a couple of them. Personally I tried out about 4 different ROMs and stuck by Artemis. Good luck
