I remeber that I saw some month ago some recharger which you can allow directly recharging at the battery.
It's working like a car battery where you have direct contact with minus/plus pole and you can recharge realyy every battery.
I remember that it was called something with "vampire" but I can't find it again.
Anybody knows this?
eBay has lots of battery chargers for the HD but I know the charger you mean though. Still looking...

I have looked around eBay for a while now, and all I can find are those external battery chargers that have a built-in powersupply for 110-240V. What I'm looking for is something I have for my dear, old Atom Life (which now seems like a little toy when I look at it...): A charger for a loose battery that could be hooked up to a regular wall or car charger.
Why? Because when I'm in the slopes in the winter, I have one battery charging in the car while I use the other battery to play music and all the other stuff I do when I really ought to pay attention to what's happening in the slopes...which is why I wear a helmet! So has anybody seen something like that for the HD yet?
There are quite a few USB cradles with a slot for charging a spare battery on eBay. They have two USB connections, one is for the phone to sync to the PC the other is for the power supply to the cradle.
For example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-Cradle-w-...trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1683|293:1|294:50
You could use that with a 12v to USB adapter and a USB to mini USB lead to power it.
Thanks, I've seen those. But I was really looking for one that only charged the battery and was half the size. I may have to settle for one of these cradles, though. Doesn't seem like they have stuff like this, which I have for the Atom Life:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Momax-Smart-Bat...temQQimsxZ20090716?IMSfp=TL090716142005r13968
EDIT: Although that looks like a cradle with a blanking plug where the cradle would have been.
Thanks! Bought. Have no idea why I didn't see that... Silly me!
Is it possible for some ebay brand company to come out with a faster charger AKA rapid charger? I'm talking electronically is it possible without damaging the unit.
I'm sure that's one of the first things I'd buy if it came out, a faster adapter or an AC type adapter instead of a USB form wall charger. The fact that I had my tablet charging at 6:05pm and now it is 11:22pm (roughly 5.5 hours) and still isn't at 100% is rather really annoying. I can live with it but I certainly wouldn't mind if some new rapid charger came out that allowed charging to be done in 2 hours or so like the Moto Xoom or Toshiba Thrive.
Your battery is charging slow because it also takes 10hrs to discharge under heavy usage. You can't expect to have your battery charge in 1hr and be used 24, right? I don't understand why you want to have it charge faster... leave it charge over the night like everyone else does it.
I think this is not right at all, my netbook is discharching in about 10 hours and the charge time is at least about 3 hours

How about this: find this fast charging USB charger, test it, THEN come back to XDA and post a thread called "faster wall charger." Really, I'm starting to think you should just open up that Xoom and go spam their forum with complaints masked as questions.

EDIT: I was having a bad day. Although your response wasn't exactly appropriate to my OP, I kind of did the same thing and escalated the situation. Apologies.
I really do like the Galaxy a lot and I guess there's no "Rapid charger" out yet. lol
Hello
For the first time I let my XTZ drop below 40% battery.
I chargy only with the Sony's cradle since I don't really carry it around.
I get to putting it on charge when it reached 10% battery, but few secconds after it showed charge animation a pop up appeared that battery is low and should be charged. This kept showing every few secconds.
It looked as the charger contacts where not making good connection. So I tried moving it around, checked the contact pins and the lever if it pulls them out and springs where working. It all seamed to work ok. It was late and I had it wet 3-4 hours ago so I just left it off the dock till morning.
When I got up I tried to put it to charge again, but same buggy pop up started to appear...
Now I left to work, set sound off and left it to charge with hopes above 10% it will be ok...
Anyone else experienced this?

Well I have my problem solved lol.
As engineer I don't usually read everything about the spec...
So the charger I used was rated at 2A, industrial quality mind you, while the cradle is actually rated at 1.8A input and 1.8a output...
I tought the cradle is just two wires and some weights, but seems to be more than this.
Anyway the XTZ started to charge fine with the Sony charger at 1.5A.
The tablet also charges faster with the 2A charger, but only from the USB.

I don't think it's the rating of the charger - I had just posted this in the "battery broken?" thread in this forum :

Charged mine for a while this morning in the Sony dock with power on, wifi on, screen off. Like others, I use an iPad charger (2.1A).
The battery went from 11% to 55% in about 2 hours, so about 22% per hour - though I think it slows down as the % gets higher.

I've been using an iPad charger for the last 6 weeks to charge my SXTZ either directly through the USB port or "indirectly" through the Sony docking cradle. I've had no problems - as you can see from the above quote.
By the way (not that it matters) I'm an engineer (electronic) too.
My tablet works fine with wall charger but does not charge the battery. The battery remains at 0% at all time. The tablet used to work as it should in the first week. Then suddenly the battery goes flat 0% and refuse to charge. From posts in various forums, the cause could be loose battery connections or under performing wall charger.
I cracked open the tablet and all its innards seems to be buttoned down tight. No loose connections or loose soldering. The battery wires connecting to the board seems to be fine and fitted tightly.
I used a multimeter to test the DC wall charger. Specs of the wall charger are Output: 5V 3.0A Input: 100-240V 50/60Hz 0.5A. I am not sure how to read the meter but I thought it showed 4.8v instead of at least 5.0v? Could this be the reason why my battery won't charge?
Can anyone with experience give some thoughts? Many thanks.
Update: SOLVED.
Same / similar problem
HI ,
I noticed your post a weeks back and have been waiting for some one to post a solution.
I too have a malfunctioning Captain and have like you pulled it apart, installed new software and scanned the net for months hoping for a solution.
I purchased a new 5V3A charger but that is barely getting the battery icon on.
I have read somewhere that a min. of 12V3A is required to charge the battery. Could you confirm?
I guess the easiest thing is to ask if you could post your solution.
Any advice is welcome and appreciated.
Thanks..

I posted the solution at slatedroid. I did not get any response from this forum so did not post the solution here. BTW, there is nothing wrong with my wall charger.

I have a problem. I have an android tablet and yesterday it was charging and when I unplugged the charger it ripped everything from charger hole or whatever and it all stayed inside the charger and now I can't charge it. So, is there any way I can charge it? I have tried an app called wi fi charger and it doesn't work, also shake charger. Please help.

Well, I guess there is a way to charge the device if your device posses removable battery, you can get universal mobile charger buy paying few buck and if you can't remove the batter then I guess nope there isn't any other way out other than fixing the charger jack. :cyclops:

Yeah, I guess it is a good idea. You can try getting another spare battery and a universal mobile charger. So you can charge the two alternately. I get my old tablet battery a change from kingsbuying.com. So far so good.
