I have an S743 connected to AT&T and it is seemingly working well but I cannot get it to connect to the WiFi in my house. Nothing off about home wifi other than SSID is not broadcast. S743 complains "Network requires a person certificate..". No idea what tht means. Many other devices connect to the network fine.
Any ideas?
My SSID is not broadcast, and I'm using security. My S743 connected right up. The SSID is case sensitive, could it be that?

My s740 seems to work fine on my home Wifi network. But for some reason at my work network it's showing the network, but not connecting to it. It even keeps coming up saying new network found, so each time I put the WPA Key in and it will work for a while. As soon as it's disconnected it's forgotten again and I have to search and reconnect fresh every time.
What's going on? Is there a setting on the phone to sort it? Or something on my WiFi router I need to set??
I can't seem to connect to wifi. The phone keeps cycling between connecting, Obtaining IP address and Disconnected.
Anyone else having this problem? Any advice?
Are you connecting to a WPA enabled router? I've had issues on my Droid with certain routers (D-Link for one)... If I switch the router to WEP, it will connect fine.
For a phone to not support WPA is pretty lame. I picked up the TB today but I am at work. Hopefully it will connect to my home wifi network, I will update you on my results!
Had a similar problem on one of my TBolts...power cycle resolved it.
I can log onto my WPA network with no issues. Maybe bad password?
Well, I do use WEP and it will not connect. I turned off WEP just to see and it connects fine when I leave the network open.

Mine seems to be working fine, just connected to home network - I don't get a wireless icon up in the notification bar, but it goes green on my toggle.
So it seems that there is no way to connect to a non broadcasting wifi network in any of the current froyo roms. Anyone got any ideas on how to resolve this?
I have tried hidden wifi enabler and even added it separately, but it just says out of range when its sitting right next to the wireless router. With broadcasting on it connects with no problems.

I've done it in Vegan... what encryption are you using? I know there are issues with WEP...
using wpa2 I heard rumors that tkip doesnt work with it. This correct?
I got mine to connect running stock and TNT 4.4 but it wasn't easy. I intially went into wifi setting and "add a network" typed in the SSID (not being broadcast) and password (WPA2/TKIP) and it would find the network but not connect. I did some searches and found various suggestion but none worked.
After a lot of failed attempts I got frustrated and turned off wifi on the tablet and then turned it back and suddenly it connected with no problems. It may have been a one off thing but couldn't hurt to try it.
nik
Ill give this a try and see what happens. But I am not getting my hopes up.
Just out of curiosity.....
What's the point of connecting to non-broadcasting router?
It's like turning on WiFi in the middle of desert?
JMO.....
turn on ssid bdcst. connect then turn bdcst off.

If your wireless router doesn't broadcast it's SSID, others can not attempt to access it.
My Stock 3588 connects fine
I have a non broadcasting router in my home and stock 3588 on my gtab. Did the connection once when I bought the tab and it has been connecting just fine for couple months now!

So not even close to true
Using a non-broadcast SSID as a security measure is probably the weakest (well...next to no encryption at all) method available.

Using a Linux PC, I can see ALL available wireless APs with this command:
Code:
iwlist wlan0 scan
Hiding the SSID is not even considered to be a security option, it is that poor. Save yourself some trouble and let it broadcast the SSID.
I recently purchased an unlocked Lumia 800. I am having trouble connecting to my home wifi network, which uses a Netgear WNDR3700 router.
My Lumia detects the network and attempts to connect, but always gives the error: There was no response from the network
The phone is completely up to date, and I have tried all the usual things like restarting the phone, restarting the router, putting the router in another mode such as G instead of N, and trying different wifi channels and security, from open to wpa2. None of these things seem to make any difference. The router does not have any kind of connection limit set, and mac filtering is disabled.
Things to note are that I can successfully connect to friend's wifi networks with the phone, and another WP7 phone owned by another household member, a HTC Mozard has exactly the same problem.
Im not really sure what else to try, maybe someone can suggest some differenr router or phone settings to try?
thanks
Hi everyone!
My Problem:
Ive got a WiFi network at home, where the said is the stand art name.
Fritzbox.
I was at a friend of mine where I connected to his network. He has an other ssid but the same router.
And there was a router which had the exactly same said as mine at home.
When I was home my phone couldn't connect because my father configured the device that unknown devices can't connect.
This works over the IP adress the devices get.
So the part that confuses me:
Why did my device got an other IP after connecting to the router of my friend ?
Or is it the fault of the router which had the same ssid?
I would like to change the ssid of our own router but my father refuses:
This is my device and I don't want to change anything.
Funny isn't he?
So what options do I have?
Is there the possibility to stop my mobile from connecting to "known" WiFi networks? (Or as we know networks with the same ssid)
Or was the router of my frirnd which is the same as mine the reason?
What can i do to prevent this problem?
I know changing the ssid of our router is the easiest way but my dad just refuses no matter what I say.
Please help me
Thanks in advance
