No, it's not possible. If you have a dvd player or something that can accept a usb mass storage device, then you could play videos from your eris that way. However, our phone does not have the capability of doing video out.
If you have DLNA equipment in your home theater (or you have a home network that your laptop is connected to) you can use Twonky Server on your Eris & it'll show up as a media share in your network.
Twonky is in the market. I've used it for months & it's great.
You could plug the Eris in to charge it while it's feeding the video, too.
We are all looking into this I think, and The real awnser is YES!. If you buy a micro usb to video cable they sell them for the Samsun here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=454333
Now we just need a few good devs to look into making the tvout.apk and tvout.odex from the incredible to work for th Eris.
It should work if you get everything set up correctly, maybe using KAOSLEGENDARY rom. After it is set up and using the cable wih the correct apk's I think this is totaly possible

That's micro USB, our phone uses mini USB. Micro is too small - won't fit the Eris.

OK sorry I thought I had the right one here is the link I also uploaded it on the last post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=454333
htc touch must have android 2.2 or some video out put, because the youtube video shows the video out apk.

Anyway to get our phone on TV? (tv out)

So anyone has managed to see films and all that on the Tv from our phone? Without streaming
I noticed this http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-UTC-200M-Out-Cable-Connector/dp/B0031S9A8Q
But dont know If it works. Other than that, with our USB cable is possible? Maybe using some DVD player or multimedia HDD?
Thankks!
Guess the cable in the link is the only possible way.

Has anyone bought the wire to check if it works ? If yes can u post a youtube video ?
Wouldn't it need some special hardware on the phone for video-out?!
This could work too

I dont know, btw do u think with any HDD multimedia will work? Just like If you use a pen drive

[Q] A few video questions

Let me preface this with "Yes, I did search". However, I know I am horrible at searching. For some reason the string I use rarely results in the desired results. Nonetheless, after 30-40 minutes of searching I feel reasonably sure that either these questions haven't been asked before, or the answers are so simple, no one felt the need to ask them.
I've got some music videos on my Note, and I'd like to play them on my TV through an HDMI port.
1) Is there a micro USB to HDMI conversion cable?
2) Is the Note capable of a video output?
3) Is there a way to make a video playlist so that the music videos will play back to back without my having to start a new one every time?
Thanks for any answers... or even links to threads asking these same questions that I wasn't able to find.

1. You need a mhl adapter. Check amazon.
2. Yes, with said adapter
3. Check Google market, there are a few video players that support playlists.
Yes, I called it Google market lol.

Is this the adapter you are talking about? Seems to fit the bill.

Has anyone run video out off their Note yet? Any hints for best results?
Mobo Video Pro just locks up. Couldn't figure out a way to get MixZing to play more than one music video at a time. I tried WinAmp, and I'm sure I can make a playlist, but I'd really rather just have the player open the folder and play everything in the folder.

Oh, I see, so the phone won't charge off the TV, I'll still need to use my OE charger to keep the phone charged?

That's interesting. Does the screen shut off when playing over the TV or does it stay on?

Works on my Westinghouse TV and yes the phone screen stays on. You can buy remotes for your phone as well. Or use wireless controllers to play games over the TV.

If you have a PS3, you can use your existing PS3 controller as well (if you're rooted), since it's bluetooth.
Those adapters support audio out as well? I think I need to scrounge up some extra cash...

Yes they do audio out too.
If you use PS3 controller you need sixasis drivers. You can also use the wiimote with the correct drivers.
Still haven't found a good video player. Any suggestions?
Edit: mvideoplayer is working very well for me.

hdmi out

hi guys,
after abit of help. i bought a hdmi adaptor, from amazon this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007K8NNOA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
so that i would be able to play content from my phone straight through to my tv. I also bought a new hdmi lead and i connected using the phone charger and lead that came with the phone.
When i plug it all together it shows on the phone that hdmi out is connected and i can display video or photos on the external device. But no matter what i do i cannot get a picture to display on the tv.
Am i doing something wrong? Or does it never work? I tried rebooting the phone i tested the hdmi lead to make sure it works. Is there another option on the phone i need to select to i need to use a different app?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Are you on the stock rom/kernel? I can't say I use this feature as much as I thought I would, but I have noticed some kernels break this feature (though I can't say which ones anymore - been a while) and I've seen some roms break this as well. I don't know if this was a placebo or what, but I also noticed that it broke for me after removing some of Sprint's or HTC's bloatware... I think it was the transfer app, but it doesn't make much sense to me why.
I'd try it on a full stock rom/kernel first to make sure it's not software related. Then try it on multiple TVs. I actually had an experience once where it wouldn't display on my TV, but worked fine on my HDMI enabled pc monitor - same symptoms you're describing. Tried different kernel, all was better. But I've also read about people just having a bad mhl adapter or bad hdmi cable too.
As above it needs to be supported by rom and kernal. Try a stock configuration and see what happens. If that fails it might be a faulty adaptor, these cheap ones are known to fail easily.
i appreciate your guys help. i am on stock rom/kernal. my tv is pretty new. The phone is showing as having a hdmi connection so wasn't sure if it could still be the adaptor? i will try it on another tv at the weekend. if it still doesn't work maybe send the adaptor back?
so it should display whilst playing a film through the stock video player? i dont need to use a special programme or anything else?
It automatically displays whatever is on the phone's screen. No need for anything special beyond plugging it in. It could still be a faulty adapter even though the phone shows hdmi.
Another idea might be to double check your tv out settings on the phone. Make sure those are correct.

I can't remember exactly. It's in the phone settings. I'm on the ice cream sandwich leak so I think it's a little different.

@ scariola thanks i tried your suggestion as well.
i would be really interested to hear if anyone ever got this to work?
You have to have it plugged into the wall outlet as well. Just a thought
just an update guys i tried it on an oldish portable tv and it worked? so no idea why it doesn't work here at home???
still thanks for all the help.

SGS2 as a media streamer?

Hi,
Im thinking of using my S2 as a media streamer now I have the S3. Initial tests have been mixed, with the best performance coming from BubbleUPnP and MX Player, Does anyone have any hints and tips that might improve things. Also is there a good, Android to Android remote app? As would be nice to be able to control it remotely.
Any hints or tips would be great.
Thanks.
Sell it and get a proper dedicated device.
Lol, the idea is to keep it as a backup. I'm trying to make the most of it and not just hide it in cupboard.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Well, you're asking how to best pound a square peg into a round hole... but anyways; if you want it to perform its best as a "media streamer", I'd say factory reset/full wipe it, debloat it as much as you can, only install the bare minimum of what you want on it.
As far as remote controlling: http://www.google.com/search?q=control+another+android+device
Thanks for the advice. I know Ill probably end up copying large mkv files rather than streaming them. The mhl cable wont work with the S3 and rather than bin them Im hoping my square peg can fit a hole like this.

You link solves my main problem, I kept finding Remote desktop software when I looked. Not Android to Android. If nothing else makes an interesting project.

Why won't the mhl cable work with the s3? Isn't the s3 an mhl device?
Edit: ah, I see the s3 has its own special mhl adapter that isn't compatible with other mhl devices. Bravo, Samsung. WTF.

Yea they're trying to act like apple. The s3 is like a s2s not an s3. And now they're not allowing s2 accessories to work with s3.. Money grab
