Hi,
I see on MobilePlanet they have 2 types of cradles available for the 8525:
- http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=143228
Which one is better?
What are any differences.
Thanks,
Alan.
One clearly has an extra battery slot.

I don't know anything about the second one, but I have the first one right in front of me. Some information:
- detachable USB cable, which means it can't charge the device if not connected to a PC
- does not come with a power supply. It seems the design allowed for a socket for an external power supply, but the hole is blocked with some plastic part. I would think there's probably a "de luxe" version with an external power supply.
- good build quality and finish
- extremely poor fit for the TyTN's shape. Almost looks like it was intended for another device. There is no "guidance" for the TyTN when you put it in, so it's quite difficult to get the USB connector into the socket. And when it's in, the USB connector carries most of the TyTN's weight, as the bottom of the TyTN does not make contact with the cradle. I fear this will wear out the TyTN's USB connector rather quickly...
Personally, I would not buy it again.
Cheers
Daniel
it will be good to see a landscape crade with audio out (3.5mm). Mr Gadget in australia has a nice jasjam cradle in landscape and it comes with a dedicated stylus in the crade - but no audio out.
Beware of the cradle from BoxWave, I just got one.
It comes with a A/C adapter to mini USB for charging and a std USB for sync. You can use one or the other. I got the version that has the spare battery charge bay. I also purchased the Std Battery replacement for the 8525 from them as well.
The Cradle has a Red/Green Charge light and a Blue Power LED. My Blue LED was blindingly bright for a few minutes, then it began to flicker like a candle. now it's pretty much out. The charge lite seemed OK, it charged the Boxwave battery and went from steady red to green.
The boxwave battery was thicker than stock and caused the rear cover to bulge a little. I'm not happy and am returning it.
The Stock battery, if inserted into the cradle charge bay, causes the charge light to blink a fast red, Fail? Even though the battery is charged and new. So I'm returning the cradle as well. Too Bad....
Got the boxwave one myself and must agree don't bother.
I sent them an e-mail asking if it can AC charge and SYNC at the same time.
THey assured me it could.
It can't.
I also can't seem to get that across to their people... they still assure me it can and mine must be defective.
The binking lights are majorly anyoing, way to bright. And it is a pain to get it to fit right.
Just got one of the Expansys models above, the one with the 2nd battery charge bay. It fits the 8525 perfectly and seems very well made. It has seperate mini-usb connectors on the back for A/C adapter and Sync.
It also has seperate A/C and USB indicator Leds on the left side and a BiColor LED on the right for the extra battery bay. I tried a charger on it and it charges both battery and phone, A/C Led is On, the USB is Off. I tried a USB PC sync cable and it syncs and charges both batteries, the USB Led is On and the A/C Led is Off. I plugged both USB and A/C into the base, and it appears to still work normally, the A/C and USB Leds are both ON.
So it looks like it will work as a sync cradle on the PC and still charge batteries with the PC Off.
It came with no instructions or cables/adapters so I don't know if plugging both A/C and Sync in is completely OK.
It is a nice little base but for $42 I would have liked some accys and instructions.
Just wanted to double check.
You are saying both a USB and AC connect at the same time on the Expansys model (ones in first post?)
Wanted to make sure before I wasted more money.
Yes, the version that has the 2nd battery bay is what I have;
http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=143228
This model has two rear mini-usb connectors, and I plugged my Cingular 8525 charger into the cradle's mini-usb port labeled as charge.
I also plugged my PC's USB sync cable into the cradle's sync-mini USB port labeled sync.
The cradle seems OK with this. There were no instructions or warning labels telling me "only one at a time", and it's working.
Also I wanted to mention that the charge bay pins are all gold versus the BoxWave which were plain silver. Much nicer quality.
The title says it all. The device refuses to charge or detect my charger. I am not sure what to do or if anything can even be done.
What would the "next step" be?
Is the liight on the charger on?
Is there 12V on the charge plug?
If yes, send it back.
The answer to both of those is yes.
My next question is how much would it cost to get it fixed by Viewsonic (a rough estimate)? I only ask because my warranty is shot due to me flashing Vegan 5b.
I called viewsonic and as it turns out they cannot fix devices that have been flashed.
So, unfortunately I have a brick that will not charge.
If you have any charge left, I would nvflash it and get it back the original firmware and kernel. It's really not difficult to do. Then I'd send it in for warranty repair.
That's a good idea, but my device has enough charge to turn on for only one minute.
Not enough time to reflash the original firmware and kernel. I was unaware that it wouldn't charge until it refused to light up.
Will it run with the plug in?
I tried this and it seems to work. Plug the power supply into the Gtab with it powered off. Hit the right side of the tablet on the edge slightly. This worked for me to get the red light on(I hit mine about three times and the red light came on). Mine only charges while plugged in but I still get a full charge even thought the battery indicator shows 0%. I have used mine all day today without a plug and it sits at 0%
Your idea intrigues me... you tapped it, eh? Well it's worth a good shot, I'm about ready to try incantations!
Okay, so the light on the charger is on. But is it really charging. It could not be charging or have a bad cable or......
You need to find a way to make sure the correct voltage is coming out of the charger plug (the specs are on your
power adapter/charger).
And if you know the charger is actually charging....
I don't know much about the inside -- there are some posts about things like this
from along the way since November. But it might be worth your while to open the case and make sure it's not something as simple as a wire that has come loose.
Also, if it is the charger you can go on the web and Google for MPA-630 power
adapter (it also is used for those digital picture frames) and find a replacement.
Good luck. I wouldn't give up yet!!!

...I could lick the charger I suppose that would prove to me if the tail end is receiving power from the head.
I am not a man who gives up, but I do lose hope very quick.
You know, in my head I'm going over a list of things that I can do to inject this device with any amount of energy. Just enough to enable me to reflash the stock on...Buying a dock, replacing the battery with a spare fresh one, throwing the whole thing on top of some power lines...

heh, well I tapped the hell out of that thing... nope (In my heart I didn't think it would work)
I should also say that there is nothing loose, I shake it... and nothing is rattling.
With the DC plugged in, try gently and slowly wiggling the connector left, right, up and down and see if the RED light comes on during the wiggling. If it does then the pin on your DC IN Jack is loose due to failure in the soldering joint holding the DC Jack to the motherboard.
IF you know how to open the Gtablet, you can can resolder the connector. The DC IN Jack even in laptops eventually fail and need to be replaced and/or resoldered. For this reason, I purchased the dock as a backup method to charge the Gtablet.
China computer products are known to be sometimes undersoldered.
Try Googling "loose DC Jack laptop" for more info.
This assumes you power adapter is good.
Hope this helps.

I wiggled (very slowly) the connector in very direction possible. The red light still didn't come on and the jack felt a strong as ever.
...Maybe it IS a problem with the adapter itself? however, I still don't think so...
Buy a doc from i2steve here on xda. You will have a sweet new accessory and an alternate charging method. Worth it. At that point you can charge it, flash it and send it in for repair. Or if your lazy like me, just use these doc to charge it and call it good.

hi i recently loaded a new rom on my g tab after id finished it started up ok but plugged my charger in and behold it did not charge no charge light on, so did a few checks with my multimeter found no supple coming from the power charger.
just thought id reply to your enquiry. so im in the throws of buying a universal charger with the same power requirements. hope this helps. yorkygeorge.
Try going to an Office Depot or a Sears and see if they have a G on display. if so, plug yours in to its power adapter. At least then you can rule out your power supply.
^ nice. Really good idea
If you have a 12V adapter with Cigarette plug lying around the house with the right size plug on the end. Try plugging it into your car ( engine off). The voltage on the adapter is 12V.

I'll try to get my hands on a multimeter to double check that the problem isn't with the charger (I licked the darn thing and didn't get a shock either).
So, just got my wireless charger in, I set it on the charger, the white light indicator comes on, no charging indicator on the phone. I have tap+send enabled, any other suggestions?

When you drop it on the charger it should make the happy "I found power" sound (if volume is on) and light up ONCE. That's it. The charger light will go out eventually when the 920 is full.
This is by design. Don't worry about it. It's working.

No happy charging sound, it actually seems to drain my battery, the phone doesn't seem to register the charger but the charger recognizes the phone. Also the battery indicator shows nothing.

That's not good. Either the charger or the phone's broken. There isn't any user settings on the phone to enable/disable wireless charging. Do you have access to another Qi charger to try?
I assume USB charging works. The phone should behave exactly the same as when you plug it into AC via USB.

it does, I don't, however have access to another charging device. The NFC works on the phone and the charger registers it but they don't sync up.

NFC isn't used for wireless charging at all. I think its time to get that thing exchanged.
It sounds like you have the Nokia DT-910 Wireless Charger. If so, i had a similar Problem at first. NFC inside the DT-910 was recognised, but it wouldn't charge. Fortunately, i do have two other wireless chargers here (Nokia DT-901 Fatboy Pillow and Phillips DLP7250P), both of them working with my 920.
So i checked the Power Connector on the DT-910 and found it wasn't fully plugged in. I pushed a Little more 'til i heard a click from the connector, and my 920 gave a happy pling and started loading.
Obviously, NFC doesn't need power to work.

I'm having the same problem with my 920 and the LG WCP700 charger; the charger beeps and indicates that wireless charging is in progress, but the phone registers nothing.
I was thinking I would try a hard reset before contacting Nokia support, but that's a pain and I'm not convinced it'll make any difference at all.

The WCP700 is not listed as being a QI charger.
You can't just use any old wireless charging mat, it has to be marked as being a QI charger.
Doh, just found that it is QI. But even when they say it conforms to a standard, sometimes they don't or there are side-effects. My Maxell QI charger gets warm and heats up the phone when the Nokia one's dont.

Yeah, that was my thought at first . . . but others have posted that they have had success using the WCP700 with the 920. I'm guessing that the problem now is with the phone; either there's something installed on it that's causing a problem, or the inductive charging hardware is defective.
I was under impression that the charging cradle is supposed to charge the watch as soon as it's plugged in. What's happening now is when the cradle is on the watch, nothing happens; but as soon as I plug the cable in, it starts charging.
Am I doing something wrong?
These are both the watch and cradle pins.
Wait a minute..... Is this the original cradle? I bought this watch used - did I get duped?

Original cradle has also a tiny button (bottom of the dock) to see the charge when we push it, it light on the led.
I also have installed cyanogenmod 12.1 and found the issue that charging cradle is not charging gear s unless connected with charger. Also found that charging time has increased so much than earlier. Please help if you have found out some solution.

Hi, guys!
I bought a Stratos but the original charger does not work.
- When i plug the original charger in a USB port on my PC and the watch is ON the screen do not show any signs of charging.
- When i plug the original charger in a USB port on my PC with the watch OFF and wait some seconds and i'd press the on/off button the screen show me that the watch is charging BUT the ammount of battery goes down!
- When i plug the original charger on a cellphone charger doesnt matter if the watch is on or off the screen do not show any information about charging.
Please i really need some help, the watch battery is at 10% and i'd turn it off.
Thank you guys for the help!!
If the original charger is faulty, you should order 1 or even 2 of this: https://www.gearbest.com/smartwatch-accessories/pp_009720167579.html?wid=1433363
It has removable USB cable, so you can use your own.
Thanks for the reply! I've tried the procedure with an usb cable direct contact but the watch do not charge too...

You're welcome. I've ordered 3 of them, because for $5/pce it's inexpensive - I'll let you know if it's a good replacement of the original charging cradle or not. I'm sure the cradle has a controller circuit inside, so you can't just touch the wires to the pins.

Good to hear they at least work.
Yeah, the original is quality stuff, but I hate the fixed USB cable, which seems to be very thin and fragile and which is a step backwards from the Pace's replaceable solution.
I've ordered 3, because it was around $5 ordered from within the GearBest app, and I had a lot of GB points lying around.

Exactly why I bought one - The original dock sits on my desk and is used 90% of the time for charging and development, the Gearbest one sits on my bedside for the very rare time I charge my watch overnight - where I have a MicroUSB charger already for bluetooth headphones so it just plugs in
Agreed on the step backwards, the Pace dock was much better all around in my opinion, the Stratos one always feels like it's going to break when I remove the watch
