Hello,
I bough a new HTC s740 Rose two days ago and I'm a newbie in using it for now. Firstly, Sorry for my english btw if I will make some language mistakes, because I don't speak english very well.
I'm looking for a GPS appz for HTC s740 what will use my GPS device and some advice to install it in simple words that I'll easy install it. And one more question. I don't have a MicroSD Card and if I want to have some GPS appz must I buy it? Or I can install it on Flash Mem?
Secendly, maybe you have some useful appz for Rose? I mean appz what make easier work on this device.
And one more thing. I have a router in my house and I want to connect with it by wi-fi in my HTC. My internet is securitied and I can't connect. There is no MAC filters and WPA-Personal Key Security. Please tell me what I should do that connect with my internet. Thanks a lot! If I find something new in my phone, I will ask you later! =)
Thank you for answer!
My device:
ROM 1.14.401.2
Radio 0.24.30.24
For the GPS app, look into Garmin. They had one that was on a Mini SD card, I believe, so the logical progression would be to have it on a MicroSD card. Try a Google search, you may come up with a few.
For the router connection, your SSID (if hidden) is case sensitive, so you will want to be sure that you are putting in the proper ID. There are some advanced settings in my S743 for WPA/WEP, so maybe you are missing something?

Been nosing around here for a bit, but finally I need to ask something I can't seem to find already.
I have a Wallaby. It works just lovely, but I've bought an SDIO wifi card (Spectec SDW-821 802.11b/g), intending to use it on it.
The issue is that even once I perseude it to install, the cards instructions tell me to configure it with the WLAN utility. Which doesn't seem to be included on the developer ROM? I've tried installing it from an incorrect wifi card driver set, which unsuprisingly doesn't work. On PPC2003, it also comes up as not recognised each time it's inserted.
Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place, but I can't see the util. What would be the right ROM choice to allow use of an SDIO wifi card?
wallaby dont support SDIO
no wifi card will ever work in it
Well that explains that then! Thanks resolving that at least! ^_^;
Is it possible to use ICS with wifi connection instead of cellular connection? Would be useful for a makeshift wireless adapter if your regular NIC or wireless NIC fails.
It seems that even if I have a wifi connection already going and then I launch ICS and connect, it still tries to dial out and use the cellular connection. You would think if it can share cellular data it could share wifi data just as easily but maybe im missing something.
Back in the early days of WiFi internet sharing the private interface was changed to WiFi with a manual registry edit. It might be possible to change the public interface to USB instead of defaulting too the cellular radio. It would probably take a fair amount of troubleshooting, but I'd think it would be possible. I think the entries were at HKLM\Comm\ConnectionSharing. Might be a starting point...
Search for WMWifiRouter
WiFiRouter
WiFiRouter works by making your ppc into a virtual access point. Then you can share the internet through it.
Last time I looked however, the author had withdrawn the program from circulation at version 0.91. There must be some problems with it because the author indicated that he would release a new version once he ironed out some bugs. If it is not back in distribution yet, you might be still able to find it on a torrent site. If not, PM me and I will send you the cab. Some of the cab collections at ppcgeeks ftp have it inside too. One good collection to check is Alex's.
I have used it and it works.

wmwifirouter is not what he's looking for. That is still using your phones internet. He wants to see how he could use the phone as a Network card, using the wifi connection, as oppossed to the sprintpcs connection.
I too would be very interested in this happening, if anyone knows of a way please tell.
ok, but why ??
Why would you actually want to do this anyway ??? I will look into it but it makes no sense when a USB WiFi dongle is $30 or so and does not run your phone down to use it, why would you want to use your phone as a very expensive USB WiFi card ??? Maybe I am missing some golden benefit ????
I dont get it either, but he did say in an emergency if your wifi went out.
Thank you for the responses.
Yes, it would be useful if your wireless nic went out (or regular nic for that matter) just to have something to use for the moment. Or maybe you brought your computer to a friends house and hes out of ports or you dont want to run 50ft cable to his kitchen table
But the titan has wireless, it has internet sharing, why doesnt the wireless show up in the list of available networks? I'm not saying its an all important feature but it would be yet another cool thing your phone could do.
i looking to use my mogul as a wifi access point (sharing Spint Vision thru wifi)
i tryed the procedure to mod the registry to enable it but i cant get it to work.
anyone know the exact procedure for the mogul
btw i also checked out WMWifiRouter...looks like it's no longer free
I also wanna know
Look the idea is simple. So where is the phone ICS telling it to use the celluar line and not allowing the option of the wifi?
Pls any one contact me. Its a cool feature for a phone

I bought software called Walking Hotspot, which essentially turns my Mogul/Titan into something like a Mifi, sharing my cellular data with my laptop. Otherwise known as tethering.
I only use it for emergencies because I am not sure if Sprint can tell that I am tethering. I believe if Sprint detects unauthorized tethering they will charge 4 cents per kilobyte of data .. which is very harsh!

In fact, i tried several time to configure ports unfortunately i fail to connect it, the same procedure i did it with my omnia i900 it is working fine, but HD2 may have different procedure.
I need it badly thus anaxiously awaiting experts advice on this post.
Thanks and regards

No One Understand How to Fix it???
It is uttersurprise that no one has solution for this issue, strange. OK i will try on some other sites.. Bye Experts
I am not up on GPS, but if you are using external GPS instead of HD2 GPS, most modern GPS units use bluetooth, and you could try to pair both up via bluetooth.
It seems that when I connect to the wireless network in my uni something goes wrong and I can't browse anything. I have done everything which the help page suggested but still it doesn't work. And I'm pretty sure that the problem is in my phone because I get the right IP from the server but something about the DNS probably gets screwed. Also I'm with the 1.66.405.2 WWE Rom, Radio 2.06.51.07, 2.5.19211619.0 Manila. I'm sorry if the topic is in the wrong section, if possible the moderator to move it.

Hello m8, I had some problems with my uni wireless as well...
I went to the IT services and gave me a link to a certificate that I had to install in order to use the wireless (only windows mobiles need that certificate, apparently iphones/androids work just fine without any settings' configuration)... not sure if this applies to you but it is worth giving it a try...
This is where this leads

Once you connect, can you view the univesity's web site (and all its sub pages)?
If you can, then the problem lies with the fact that most universities use a proxy server.
I think that this problem can be easily solved by this secureW2 application, but because it's not free. If just someone can point me out a free version of it, or a simialr application.
Hi 4 all!
Today I've got my Gear S. After I inserted the SIM card in to it, I've tried to set-up the internet connection, but when I jump in to the Access point names, I can't add a new one. The menu is empty and I can' set-up anything. The mobile internet provider doesn't care about my problem, because they say they do not use Tizen OS and therefore don't offer any suggestions or help.
Please anyone can help me?

Have you updated your watch to the latest firmware/software also update the Gear manager to the latest
@Uniquebarbee: Tks for your interest about my problem! Finally I did it... I made the update for the OS and now I can add a new APN. Off course, the update doesn't resolve all my issues with the watch, but is good to know that I didn't throw away 400 Euro.
My real problem now, is that I don't have a device compatible with the watch (I did the update with a borrowed S5) to make all the tuning that is necessary... in fact I've got a Samsung galaxy note 10.1(2012) tablet and I was hoping to synchronize, but unfortunately it can not install the manager.
I can't understand why a lot of setting require a bluetooth connection, instead to use the wi-fi connection or better, the 3G on the SIM. The watch is not as independent as I thought and now I have to dig on internet to find how can I use it on full capacity.
