My Touch Pro will not keep the correct time zone! I live in Arizona and it keeps defaulting back to Mountain? Any suggestions?
Yep, that's what it does. I have to set it to Pacific to have the right time. If I go back and check it, it shows Mountain. Pretty darn annoying.

i too live in az, and it is truely annoying that sprint cant seem to get the time to work on their most "advanced" phone. but there is a "fix". cant take credit for finding this gem, sorry cant remember exactly where i found it so cant give props.
oh and it sometimes reverts back after a soft reset, but so far best "fix" i have found.
go to clock settings change your time zone to GMT london click ok. now go to the dialer go to phone options-services-time syncronization-update settings.
there is a small delay, but it will update, and set to mountain standard, like its supposed to.
mine used to do the same thing then i flashed new radio and custom rom and it stopped having the problems (right now running silence 9) i think it has something to do with when it connects to the tower to update the time it ignores the daylight saving time and then just defaults

Having intermittent problems with my mobile internet and was wondering if it was the phone, other users or just plain crap signal.
Have anything between 2 to 5 bars here, hsdpa symbol on constantly but for some reason it occasionally gets stuck on the upload arrow and then the data connection freezes and wont come back on til I toggle mobile network or airplane mode.
Phone is running modaco 2.2c and latest radio on T-Mobile UK.
Hi. Been lurking around since I got my Hero, and thought it was about time I signed up to this excellent forum.
I was having exactly the same problem. Didn't know whether it was a problem with the Hero or the network/signal. I noticed that the APN settings on my Hero were different to the t-mobile site. I read around a bit and tried a few combinations of settings and eventually got it sussed.
Go to t-mobile.co.uk
Hover over "Help & Support" at the top and click "Phone Support". Click "Make the most of your mobile" and choose the G2.
Click on "Set up the phone for internet surfing" and enter the details shown there exactly in a new APN on your Hero.
The only change to those details is the password should be "pass".
This is the only APN setting i have tried that doesn't give me the original problem. Now I can browse without the 3g signal getting "stuck"
I'm using an unlocked Hero - completely stock btw.
Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
I've been having this very problem. That's good information, I'll give it a try.
Seems to work well. Here's the link.
thanks for pointing me there.
k i altered my settings, will test it thru day see if it improves.
Ooh, seems to be working so far. Seems I owe you a beer. Lol.
After a day or two using this 'fix' I find it the drop still happens sometimes but not as often.

Did you change the password to "pass" ? That is the most important bit.
Changed the password lets see what happens.

No. That's not the password given on the T-Mobile site.
My phone has been working fine all day and I just looked down at noticed the location it had was Vilnius and the time was 4:30AM. I did a reboot and even turned on GPS for handling the location and didn't fix anything. When I went into the time zone configuration it has New York, NY as my "Home" which is the closest major city to me yet it says I'm currently in Vilnius. And now it just switched to the correct location but has it being 5/12 at 4:44AM.
I just manually adjusted the time and now I'm back to being in Vilnius. The time on the HTC widget shows 4:47AM while the time on the system bar at the top says 9:47PM.
Turned off the manual time and now it went back to the correct time/date. I'm so damn confused right now.
Has this or is this happening to anyone else?
Happened to me and my wife both back in Dec. or Jan. We were on 1.5.
Are you on 1.5 or 2.1? Because we have had no problems since updating to 2.1 root.
2.1 from the how to in the dev forum

People in here have the same experience:
http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/20348-eris-google-maps-my-location.html
My phone says I'm in Xuzhou, China whenever I'm in Tustin, California. And it's not just the weather/maps; it's the clock in the notification bar too.
Thanks for the help. I guess I'll wait and see what happens when the OTA hits my phone.
From my experiences with this bug, it's related to the cell tower, not the phone. I tested with three different Erises, on three different versions of the software, simultaneously.
Me too...
I have the OTA 2.1, and now my Eris is showing Vilnius as my location.
I was having a few buggy issues, so I did a factory reset this morning. The Vilnius thing happened tonight, and no matter what I do, it comes back. I've tried clearing my cache on the weather app, switching location on/off, changing my clock app settings, etc.
If I go to Settings/Date&time then uncheck and recheck the "Automatic - Use network-provided values" box, it will go to the correct time for a bit. So far it has changed back every time.
Grrr....
Mine eventually sorted itself out but I had to do the manual time/location management for a few days.
Before someone says to use Search feature, I already did that and I couldn't find true solution for this issue....specifically for Vibrant
Why does my Vibrant sets wrong timezone? My alarms didnt set off for 2 days so I noticed thru flaw that my time was messed up. It's set to Central when I am in Eastern zone. No where near central zone. I know many suggested to disable network time auto update but why is it doing that? Also when I disable auto change feature, it turns on by itself when I reboot my phone next time....Can I permanently disable auto time update or make auto time update work correctly please???
Is it 2.1 issue? model specific issue? or what? I mean having correct time is so basic thing in any phone.
please advice!
thank you,
I have the same problem. And my vibrant will automaticlly turn on the debugging mode after every reboot.
I also have this problem. I have to set the timezone manually when I leave my home base (Eastern Time). My iPhone seems to pick up the local time correctly, so I am confused.
I live in GA, about 40 miles from AL and I had this issue last year on my G1. When I would drive to work (away from AL) once I got a total of about 60 miles away the time would switch back to Eastern. It was absolutely consistent. I never figured out what was causing it and it resolved itself after about a month. My guess is that there was a TMO network issue.

My Rezound, #2, will not keep me in the correct timezone when set to automatic. I'm in Central and it keeps adjusting to Eastern. I've had to turn off auto and just leave it manually set.
Any tips/fixes out there?
Thanks!
My rezound did this at first. After 3 replacements for different reasons it no longer happens. Maybe a factory reset?
Been hoping to avoid that. But may give it a go soon.
speaking of timezones,I always notice the times are off an hour on here whether using a browser or tapatalk. haven't looked in profile settings.yet

Hummm, just manually set the times zone to GMT and then toggled auto and it it gave me the correct time zone. Cross fingers and see if it holds.
Well nevermind that didn't last long.
Yeah sorry I should have mentioned that. It changes back anyway. Tried it a few times.
No sweat. Bummer, here goes the reset.
Another member had this issue as well.. He contacted vzw t2 tech support and they put in a ticket for him. He reported that the situation was rectified.
I get this problem when switching between ROMs. I set it manually and then I change to auto and it fixes it.
Sorry, a reset won't fix it. I have the same problem. I'm on my second HTC Rezounds and they both have the problem - maybe it's my location to Eastern Time Zone (probably 60 miles?). However, my Samsung Galaxy Nexus never had this problem... but then again I didn't like the Samsung hardware.
Yeah, did the manual set for the timezone and its fine until you apply the auto setting then it always sets itself to EST.
Yep, the reset didn't do anything. My concern is if it's a hardware prob that's gonna get bigger down the road or not. Guess I could try the RUU, if i can find one for 2.01.605.11
D'oh. I did search for timezone but apparently they expect you to spell it correctly. So re-searched and found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372198&page=2
Sooo, downloaded LTE onoff and set to CDMA Auto (PRL) and then selected the auto setting and it's rocking the correct timezone.
LTE teething prob? Doesn't make sense as it seems to affect only a few handsets.
Update: Changing it back to CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto (LTE) reintroduces the error and it's back to EST again. Setting it to Global mode (like CDMA Auto (PRL) it drops to CDMA - eHRPD) and it's back to the correct timezone.
I have been getting repeated pop up messages, something to the idea of "Network does not provide date and time information, go to date/time settings to change setting...".
I have not had this issue with other AT&T phones. I presume AT&T's network DOES provide time/date to the phone?
Has anyone else seen this? What is the resolve?
Thanks.
Edit:
Here is an alternative:
Install the free "ClockSync" from Market.
It syncs via NTP, is very configurable how it syncs, can sync only while awake or booting up (to save battery), and can provide timezone offset via database or GPS. I have been using it for a few days, it seems to work very well.
This allows us to turn off the network time sync and the clock will stay accurate.
Edit 2:
Lots of apps sync--Google contacts, calender, GApps, FB, etc. I don't know which relies on time stamp. In some cases, the app may unexpectedly alter data based on erroneous time stamp. This is partially why it's important to make sure that your clock does not drift too much.
make sure your time zone is correct because that can cause this.

Thanks for your reply. My timezone was/is correct. Any other ideas??
I was having this exact issue the first couple days with my Note. Had no idea what was causing it, but haven't seen it since. My time zone was also set correctly.
I noticed this the first day when I had the phone. It seems to pop up when switching between LTE and HSPA+. Maybe the phone pings the tower for updated time/date every time the radios hand off?
It hasn't happened again after the first 2 days for me.

samething happened to me the very first day...but i havent seen it that annoying notice since
Mine and my fiancés phone have this issue too.
Had the Note since launch and I got the message for the first time today.

I started getting that when I tried switching to the APN that would (in theory) disable LTE since I'm in a fringe area. When I switched back to the default APN it stopped.
Don't know if changing APN had any effect other than the error messages.

This problem may be cell-site dependent. I see it all the time at home, but have not seen it at my office. This is just one day though. I will keep observing.
I just had this happen and I went to settings/date and time and unchecked automatic (use network provided values) hopefully this will eliminate that bug.

Ptoryno worke,
Had the note for a day and returned cause I saw and online discount of 50% off so I'm waiting on it to come through the mail. During that day, I has the same problem frequently. I unchecked "set time zone automattically" and it stopped happening.
I came from a Skyrocket running 2.3.5 to the Note which came with 2.3.6 and never had the prompt come up on the SR but I get it frequently on the Note. I didn't have to adjust anything on the SR and left everything default so I'm thinking that it could be a bug in 2.3.6?
I see people saying to uncheck the automatic Date & time so it doesn't use network-provided values. The funny thing is, the SR was fine with that checked and the Note is using the same wireless / towers. It's kind of mis-information since it says "Network does not provide date and time information," unless the SR was bugged and just didn't care to report it!
I only have this problem when im connected to wifi

Go to your local at&t store and have them take a look at it

I turned off automatic time in date and time settings and it stopped for me.

i only saw this bug while running saurom and just chalked it up to the goofed apn settings and lack of +supl.
+supl helps with location based services which would be necessary to pull the right time zone to set your clock.

Its a network error. The system is trying to connect and update the time and date and it cannot. Its typically going to happen when using the "phone" apn or if the phone cant communicate with the network
yuuuup
I'm going to chime in, I'd suggest call ATT its probably a cell site issue. Does it happen when you're connected to a different tower?

This happened on my Samsung Infuse also. Just unchecked the auto retrieve date then changed it back later. Not the end of the world. End of issue.
