How to disable ASR? - Touch Pro CDMA

Is there any to get rid of the automated speach recogniztion other than building a custom rom without it? I really like using the cyberon voice speed dial but I can't. I installed it and made voice tags but everytime I press the button on my bluetooth the asr program starts intead. I have gone into the voice command setting and disabled it for contacts and phone but that didn't help.

BT and Voice Calling with ROM 3.12

I am searching but have not lucked up on the correct search words for an answer...
New Verizon HTC6800 updated the 3.12 and radio 3.39. I noticed voice activation was not on the phone so I searched and found a thread that said add:
Cyberon_Voice_Speed_Dial_v1.2___BT_Fix.cab
So first was that correct? OK ,I did that and got voice command back to make calls holding the device. What I cannot do which I could do with the OEM was:
Turn on my Jaw Bone BT headset (phone BT is on)
Press the button on my BT set
(OEM setup) Would open the voice command box and I speak the name "wife"
Now on the new setup ROM 3.12 when I press the button it goes to the phone screen where I can dial a number which I do not want. I am sure there is a easy fix and hate to waste a post so can someone share that with me. I want to be able to press the button on BT set and hear the beep in my ear so I can speak a command to call a number?
Thx
Sounds like you want Microsoft Voice Command?? Not the Cyberon Voice Dialer. Cyberon requires self created voice tags if I remember correctly...MSVC just requires you to push your BT headset button and speak the command.
is that my only option....anyone else...vets???
What did you end up doing about this?

Voice command and voice dialer?

Can one have both Voice Command and Voice Dialer installed on their phone at the same time? i.e. If I cook a ROM and include both is that going to cause problems on the phone? Will both work?
Chimp (Tom)
it should if you put Voice Command on it. It think has a dialer.
It should cause a problem? Or it should work if both are on??
Voice Command will do both. I've been running it for a little over a year now. Just say "Call -------" or "Dial #########". Works great!

I'm not sure if you'll have a problem having both on your phone but my question is...why do you need both?
Does Voice Dialer do something that Voice Command can't?
Voice Command is a cool program, I used it regularly on my 6700 before official BT support and hacks were required to get a headset and Voice Command to work together.
However, do you mind the amount of memory Voice Command uses? If the 6800 had more memory I would probably use Voice Command over Voice Dialer.
Why would you want to install both? Voice Command does everything Voice Dialer does and more.

[Q] Bluetooth voice dialing problem

Hi
I installed " Cyberon Voice Commander " from the Market on my Galaxy S2.
The first time I used my Bluetooth headset to voice dial, the phone asked me to choose which default program I would like to use for Bluetooth voice dialing, the Cyberon voice commander or the Vlingo voice commands, I chose the Cyberon and from then on every time I pressed the Bluetooth headset it would initiate a call using the Cyberon voice commander.
Recently something changed, every time I am pressing the Bluetooth headset it starts the Vlingo voice commands, no matter what I do I can't go back to use the Cyberon voice commander as my default program, I can only use Cyberon if I open the program through my phone.
I tried using voice input and output settings and looking also through the setting of Cyberon and Vlingo, nothing works.
Could someone tell me what am I doing wrong? How do I change the default back to Cyberon.
Many Thanks.
Same problem
I have the same problem, but Galaxy s2 never asked me what application to set as preferred.. simply I can't set Cyberon to start when pressing BT button.
It always start slingo. Maybe because my GS2 was already updated.
Cyberon wrote me it's a samsung not standard managing of BT events.
From what you wrote it seems that at the beginning the implementetion was standard, than an update broke it up.
Have you updated ROM or are samsung apps updates?
It would be nice to repack the old apps to turn back the possibility to choose BT event.
For now I use Tasker to kill Samsung Voice command process and start cyberon. It works fairy well.. but not always perfectly.
Very annoying!!
Any one??
Hi same problem here. I would like to chose the application to start with the bt headset button, but the phone forces to use the vlingo app.
My father has this app on his SGS2 and actually emailed developers about this problem.
The extremely polite and professional support (seriously, I have never read such a concrete and polite reply from a software company, ever!) said, that this is a firmware limitation and they cannot fix it.
I think this started happening after he updated firmware from Polish KF1 to newer one.
They said, that unless Samsung changes this behaviour, they cannot do anything about it, at least they are not aware of the solution for now.
Yes Cyberon folks are very kindly and polite!!
I have found a fix!!
* Root your device
* Set google as default voice recognition instead of vlingo in settings>voice recognition (not sure this is important to do)
* Install Titanium backup (i Have paid full version, but probably you can use free
* Disable "comandi vocali" (Italy) which in english should be like "voice commands"
* Than I have cancelled the BR pairing, restarted the phone and paired BT again...
* Set Cyberon to use long press bt button to start
IT WORKS!!
Hi all.
Yesterday I've updated firmware through KIES to last one for my region. And now I'm facing same problem
Before updating it was possible to select which app will be default for voice dial. Now, even after factory reset, phone doesn't ask me which app to use. And I unable to find "Voice Talk" in the list of All applications to change its defaults.
I don't want to root device and don't want to install firmware through ODIN. Don't ask why Just want my device to be clear.
Any help with this problem will be highly appreciated.
Thank you
Any news about this issue?
Hi all.
Today I've updated firmware through KIES to last one (KG2) for my region (Romania). Now I'm facing same problem as all the others.
Before updating it was possible to select which app will be default for voice dial (Cyberon Voice Speed Dial). Now it is launching the Vlingo by default.
I changed to Google Voice but in vain... It's still launching this useless Vlingo.
Does anybody has found a solution without rooting the phone?

I applied solution described in post #5. It works fine.
....but you must be rooted
I have a slightly different problem...
I have no issue using Vlingo (if it worked)
Firstly, it's not responding to pressing the button on my bluetooth anymore.
Secondly, when it did, the device had to be unlocked for it to work.
Damn you Vlingo.
The only legal solution is unfortunately this, as far as I know:
1 Backup the phone
2 Take it to authorized repair service
3 They will "degrade" firmware to the last version which was problem free
4 Restore from backup and hope it will work. More chance to succesfully restore is if you made a backup on previous firmware
5 Reinstall all the apps.
Well done Samsung
Bytheway can anyone tell me what was their last firmware that did not have this issue?
Awful solution.
Anyone with the latest 2.3.4 firmware here? Can you confirm this bug?

I agree but does anyone knows any better without rooting? Everyone must decide the importance of being able to use bluetooth calling from the car. I personaly need it so much I am willing to degrade firmware. I waited with buying gs2 until voice speed dial came up.
Anybody out there good enough to know how to disable or erase voice talk app, integrated in GS2?
Your first question should be how to use the search function in this forum.
Update solved the problem
Hi
Yesterday my Galaxy SII got an update, Android OS got updated from 2.3.4 to version 2.3.6 and Baseband version is now SC02COMKL4.
Now I am able to activate the voice dialing by a long push on the Bluetooth connect button.
Where's voice input key
Overall wonderful rom!! .. but I couldn't find Mic key for activating voice input in my keyboard, evev if in Settings->Keyboard&Languages->"Voice input key" I set both "on main keyboard" or On symbols keyboard".
Anyone can give me a suggestion?
Tnx.

Launch Voice COMMAND not Talk...

Is there anyway to have Voice COMMAND instead of Voice Talk be activated when longpressing search or pressing my headset button? Voice Command has so many more commands than the other one, and I find it simpler. I tried clearing defaults and reassigning, but the only two options that show up then when trying to reassign are Voice Search and Voice Talk. =[
Thanks!
Bump? Anyone?
Why do you think there is any difference in the available commands? I don't think there is.
Because there is. See for yourself.
Try setting, say, an alarm in Voice Talk - won't work. Go through the help pages, there's far less commands listed in Talk than in Command.

That's right. In Voice Command I counted 14 commands and in Voice talk I counted eight. For example, just try going to Voice Talk and say "email" someone or "open" some application. It won't work. Try the same commands in Voice Command and it works!
Ok. I'll be damned. Now I want to open voice command too
Here's what's funny. You can open voice command from voice talk by pushing the menu button in voice talk, but you can't use your voice to open it.
Sheesh.
Samsung epic 4g touch 2 it's possible
goto the android market and download, " bt app launcher". it is a bluetooth launcher for when your headset connect to your cell phone. the app is free. once installed it allows you to select the app that you want to start when the bluetooth device connects to your cell phone. you will see 2 voice commands 1 will be green and 1 will be blue with a line through it. select the blue 1 with the line running through it horizontally. now whenever your bluetooth headset connect your cellphone voice command will start not voice talk. unfortunately whenever press the button on your bluetooth headset or press to lunch button from your phone... voice talk will still launch . I happen to have a motorola bluetooth headset that allows the flip of the microphone which then turns on the bluetooth device connects to the cellphone, so this works for me.

I agree 100 percent. I posted here ,ATT fourm and android Central and go no reply. I asked my friend at aTT to check it out with Samsung. Knownone at aTT had a idea. I don't know why they just did not use Voice Command. You say comands on you bluetooth and you get Voice talk. (say Galaxy) voice tlak only works with bluetooth by default no matter what your setting are.( Blueant Q2 here.) Voice command does email and more but you have to lauch it yourself.
My other phone you just pushed the extra button on the side and say what you wanted. Both of these programs are Vlingo rograms too.
I will download the BT appy though
download bt
I don't think its going to work.
This is exactly why i shouldn't read the forums, now I want Voice Command to be my default DOH!
I was wondering if this was possible as well. Maybe someone could find where the double home tap action is mapped to.
voice command
there is a nice little widget that has voice command, voice talk and driving mode
buttons that's included with the galaxy S2.
I have a A2dp Motorolla BT, It will start voice "command" when blue tooth head set connects to cell . But not when pressing the button on the blue tooth head set or the phone . and it will automatically listens. it does not have the standby activation code hi galaxy like voice " Talk"
Thanks for the idea, I added it to my ROM.
I had the same problem and made a workaround with Tasker.
If you have Tasker installed:
1. Make a new profile called "Long Search" and select
Event>Hardware>Button:Long Search
as the context.
2. For the task, make a new task and select the action category "App" and select "Load App" and then "Voice Command".
3. Then when you long press the search button (assuming you cleared your default or never picked one), a tasker helper will show up as an option along with "Voice Talk" and google's voice search. Select it as your default.
Now when you long press the seach button "Voice Command" will launch.
Hope this helps.
This works exactly as advertised. Thanks for posting this, and now I've got to figure out Tasker!

Disable / Uninstall Voice Dialer app

I need to disable the voice dialer app that seems to run in background.
I mount my phone on my bicycle and plug it into a speaker mounted on my bike as well through the headphone jack. The whole setup works great except that it randomly pops up voice dialer and tries to call people because it thinks it is a headset. I never use voice dialing and would liek to just get rid of it to solve my problem.
I have read that it is in the system partition and only possible if the phone is rooted and s-off. I am both so I wanted to check on here to see if anyone new how to accomplish this task of removing or disabling voice dialing?
Thanks in advance for any input!
You can remove it with SystemAppRemover or just delete VoiseDial.apk from /system/app folder.
