Initial Impressions:
* Huge amount of packaging... so well protected during shipping.
* Very lightweight, adds the least amount of bulk / weight to the Touch HD compared to other plastic 1/2 covers I've tried before.
* Volume buttons get more obscured and therefore harder to press, like other 1/2 cover designs
* Raised metallic Camera section isn't protected, just like other 1/2 cover designs.
* Catena/Silver model has mirror finish - very nice.
* Catena/Silver model is a fingerprint magnet
* Pattern isn't embossed... would be nice if it was. Print looks a bit cheap against mirror finish
* Excellent packaging and presentation
* Snaps on easily - much easier than Boxwave's half cover shell for example.
Conclusions:
* Catena/Titanium would probably look nicer.
* Should be $20usd (with no screen protector bundled)
* The most well-built / quality *Plastic* half-cover I've seen so far.

Looking good
Hi!
They are really good looking. How does the HD look from the other side with the cover on?
They are made of plastic, so I think they will be full of scratches after some time.
But I have also thought of buying one.

nice! even the slip in leather cases look very tempting!

wanna see the front

hmm, I think these are "half-shell" covers like these ones from Boxwave
Just checked their website and unfortunately product release is delayed until 20th May
It's nice to finally see some fashionable accessories being released for the HD... kinda sick of seeing all this fancy stuff only for iphones >_<
And yeah, the covers probably will get scratches and stuff over time, but that's the purpose of having a cover in the first place isn't it?

please share live photos if anyone got one of those, looks great ..

Thanks Aussiebum, they look great. I do wonder how it looks from the front. It comes with either a free Crystal Screen Protector or a mirror. Anyone knows whether the mirror can be attached somewhere? Doesn't make much sense if it is a separate accessory.

it seems that it covers just the back

the metal design pattern looks good!

a little bit to expensive for my taste, looks very nice indeed!
but I will wait for it to come to eBay, or maybe some copy of the same!

Anyone got one of these? I am curious to know how easy it would be to get the back of the phone off with one of these attached as I have to soft reset my HD fairly regularly!

man that looks hot. where can one of these in AUS?

I hope they release a plain design...the patterns looks girlish...

You're not alone!

Hi all,
Just took delivery of my touch HD last week absolutly loving it at the moment. Brand new to this forum, looks like a treasure trove of stuff in here, looking forward to having a really good look around.
Those cases look really good, quite pricey tho. I had a leather sena case for my Dell Axim which was fantastic quality but im looking for something less bulky so those boxwave case look perfect.
thinking of a boxwave rubber case and martin feilds screen protector, good combination?
Cheers
Bud

I don't think these cases are suitable as I think they can get scratched easily. And the cost... WOW!
I personally just prefer a silicon case. Try these ones from Capdase. It feels really good in the hands, and slip free. The best thing is that it doesn't stick to your pocket like other crappy silicon cases. I can grab it from jeans pocket easily.

How about these...

Well, everyone has their own preference.
These (relatively pricey) designs are aimed at people who want a (half) cover that looks bling and not just the usual cheapo plain colour hard plastic / soft silicone cases u see avaliable almost everywhere on ebay (of which I have one already).
They've delayed release until 20th May (this Wed), so hopefully they will be avaliable by then. I'm definitely getting one so will be posting pics for those also interested when I get them
I'm glad that at least *one* company has deemed the HD popular enough to release covers that you'd only expect to see avaliable for the iPhone... bring'em on! we want more bling!

post some pictures when you get it!!!

I actually quite like the look of these covers! They do look very stylish! Hopefully, it is only the beginning of cool covers for our HD's.
The price, however, seems really steep.

God those are ugly. Why would one go out of ones way to buy a beautiful device and the stick that on it?
what would you guys recommend as a decent protective yet slimline case for this device, preferably allow you to use the device whilst it's in the case. I've ordered the D2 but am deciding on what case to get

Invisishield
Wouldn't invisishield still require a case? It looks like the screen would still be very susceptible to dings, etc. that would kill the handwriting recognition.
I ended up ordering this:
http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=138216
and one of the silicone skins above. Got the leather case on me now. Pretty nice and a tight fit. Right side of it covers the end call button a bit but other than that it's all right. Would prefer if the leather was a bit thinner on the screen as it feels like it's recessed now. Regardless of that though I can still hit everything I want to on the screen so that's fine. The flip lid is hard and solid (must have thick card or something in it) so the screen is protected easily when it's shut. Also comes with space for memory cards and other plastic cards. Supplied with a removable screw on belt clip too! Doesn't add much bulk or weight to the phone and slips in nicely into my jeans pockets.
The best silicon cases are made by Capdase. I got my case for my HD a month ago. I checked, they don't have any yet but I am sure it will be available soon. What I will do is get a cheap replacement for now and wait for Capdase to come out with one. The one I have is non slippary and dust proof and and and it slips into my pocket nicely. Other silicon cases sticks to cloths and it's hard to get out of your pocket. It's not cheap, mine cost around $80 HKD which is around 6.50 GBP or 8 Euros. Hope this helps.

Nope.. I had one protecting my Diamond for 7 months... didnt effect ANYTHING. I dropped it a few times as well.
The IS is indeed very good
I have only seen it on a number if iPhones but it is as strong as they claim
We even tried the compass/knife test and scratched the hell out of it...or so we thought
It's very durable and did not damage the phone at all - Only downside is by the time it comes out (unless it is already), we'll all probably have a few light markings on it - no matter how well we keep it.
Something to note is the TD1 had a horrible procedure to apply it because of its curves/or lack of them ... I feel the TD2 will be much easier but lets see
Received my silicone case from xell_uk today ordered on the 30th April. Have to say it's a lot better than I thought it would be! Fits the D2 perfectly. Nice sized cut outs so you can easily access the ports and stylus and is snug and secure. Buttons are slightly more accessable as well compared to the other leather case I ordered. Device does look quite neat in this jacket too!

I've ordered my IS. Should arrive in a few days. http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
I don't get it. Isn't the screen the most important part of the device? Why protect the back and sides only?
Can someone recommend a solution to this?
FYI all: I got the silicone case, and it DOESN'T fit perfectly around the device. On the left the case is a bit loose, so you can see the device peeking... this can be seen in pictures of the silicone casing everywhere. So be aware...

Custom g tablet XOskin screen protector

Hey all,
I am in touch with the people at xoskins.com for a screen skin for the g tablet. I have sent dimensions and photos and they are in progress on the design. This would not be a dry application protector that has air bubbles and peels up around the edges. Their protectors go on extremely well. I have put them on several devices with a lot of success. One has been on my phone for a year and it still is all the way down around the edges.
When I get mine, I can post some shots of it. Hopefully we can generate some interest so they can make more.
How much did you pay ?
Nothing yet, but I am guessing it will be $20. I also just saw the skinomi one for $15 shipped in the US. They look to be pretty much identical. The packaging and spray are almost the same as the xoskins I have gotten before (just different graphics).
This screen protector skin is now available on xoskins.com for $18 using the code tabletprotector20. as soon as mine comes in i can post some pictures. like i said before, these have worked great for me in the past on othe devices. btw, I'm not getting kickbacks or anyhing, just spreadin the word.
How do the XOskins compare to the Skinomi ones?

I think they are the same. I forgot to order the xo skin after I got the email the design was done. Anyway, ordered it now. Will update when it arrives and I can compare to my skinomi.
Just wanted to update that I got my xoskin. It is very much like the skinomi tech skin. I can hardly tell the difference. To me, I like the xoskin a bit better, I like the screen feel of it a bit better. Also, you can still get it for $20 shipped with the code from above.

Which is 30% more than the skinomi , not sure if the difference in the texture would warrant the difference in price.
That said, its good to know there are other comparable alternatives there (once skinomi jacks up the price again or terminate their coupon).

Screen Protector-Don't buy the military grade
I purchased some of these "military" grade screen protectors for the Evo 4g, but they really sucked to put on. So I searched on Amazon and ordered a matte one made by Aurum.
It's made from Japanese PET, which "supposedly" is the best, Got it a few days ago and it fit perfectly, more importantly there is no loss in sensation or sliding ability as it says. So I am happy, now I need a TPU case for it.

I see this is the same picture posted on amazon. How does it fit ? I can't see any cutting for the camera/sensors, do it cover the touch area or the whole bezel ?
Thanks,
No cutout for the camera/sensor, I put on the matte and it makes no difference that I can see. The Aurum screen protector on Amazon covers the ENTIRE bezel, so all the glass is covered (has the rounded edges for a tight tight fit). I attached a photo, don't judge me by my poor installation . All I care about is the smooth scrolling, and this achieves it, in my opinion.
I just saw they have a free shipping deal when you buy two.
Interested in drag component...
of the aforementioned protectors. The XOskin, Aurum, and Skinomi. Almost set to get a skinomi, but one complaint by some people is finger drag. How about the protectors the 2 of you have got? I'd almost forgo a protector if it's not going to give me a smooth surface. Thanks..
at least the XOskin HAVE the holes for the camera ans led flash and Aurum and Skinomi doesn't.

I was unaware that there was a flash for the G-Tablet, could you let me know where that might be .
As for the question above I can attest to the Aurum screen protector having very little finger drag(thats why I like it) and as to not having camera holes, well the 1.3 megapixel camera is not exactly great(I never use it). I use mine to browse the web, so finger drag is my main concern.
Aurum has a crystal clear one I think.....this will solve any camera issues. The link is below

Can you post a pic of the xo skins fit? Is it good? I have used their skins before and they are by far the best. Just wanna make sure it will fit right.
I got the xo skins gtab screen protector There are cutouts for the camera and light sensor.. The install took me two minutes. Steamed up my bathroom after reading some install reviews to drop the dust out of the air. Ill post a full review on here in a bit.
New Protector with Stylus
I have purchased another screen protector for my G-Tab, this time the camera cutout was present, as before it was simple to apply, peel and stick type of application. I chose to go with the clear one this time, because I began to use a stylus with my tablets which I LOVE. The protector is simply a safety measure to prevent any accidental scratches.

[Review] Alternative Folio Case for TF

Quick Review...yes its copied from the other thread that I posted in. But I figure plagiarizing my own stuff is ok. Plus, there are pictures now!
Material: Definitely not real leather. Is PU Leather but doesn't feel "cheap" in the hand either! Inside of the case is a velvety "soft" material...I guess a cloth version of suede is the best way to describe it. (Definitely not Alcantara like the stuff I have in the bucket seats of my car.)
Workmanship: Can't complain here either surprisingly! I was expecting it to be well, just ok....but the stitching is straight and even, uniform distance from the edges (yeah I'm sure there are tenths of mm variations but...nothing distracting.) Holes for camera, proximity sensors, buttons, etc. are PERFECTLY aligned when the TF is properly inserted.
Closure: Magnetic...decent snap to it. There's magnets on BOTH ends of the case so it is quite secure.
Holding Mechanism: One of the weaknesses of this case. It has a flap that is on the landscape edge facing into the spine of folio case. Should have put a magnet or two in there to keep the flap more securely closed. Or Velcro. I think I'm going to add some velcro there myself. On the other hand, I think it is far better to have the flap on this side than along one of the portrait edges of the Tablet.
Stand angles: 2 actually, one inverted "low position" suitable for typing. One high angle for casual viewing I guess.
Conclusion: 1 thumb up--not two--because of the ridiculous pricing on these cases, $28 including shipping. Seriously, these things can't cost more than $5 in China where they are made.

Looks like there's a cutout in the tuck in flap but no cutout on the main cover. My guess is you can charge the transformer while in the case but that the cover has to be open.
Where did you get it? Was this one of the generic eBay ones?
I just got this case today (took about two weeks to arrive), and I'm thoroughly satisfied. It has holds for everything, even the Micro SD slot. Most importantly, the Transformer feels protected.
I just received mine today. I bought the brown version. It fits OK but overall the case is not of the highest of quality for instance there is a finger size mark on the front of the case. Can't help thinking in a couple of weeks the transformer will be slipping inside of the casehousing.
The listing on eBay said leather and I am going to complain and request a partial refund because it is definately not leather being some kind of ruberised finish and a joke of an attempt to show leather grain. I feel like I have been mislead....

Why are there so many people trolling the "FolioGuard" case in everyone else's threads? WTF? People KNOW there's the FolioGuard case. The point is THIS ISN'T THE FOLIOGUARD CASE AND IS A REVIEW OF A DIFFERENT CASE.
SoCalTiger, I got this one from eBay. Here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_5978wt_1018
I'm beginning to wonder whether this one IS genuine leather and NOT PU leather at all. I've "aired" it a good number of days and it STILL smells/feels like leather. The patterned marks don't seem to be pressed/printed into the case at all. There's a few other tests I can "run" to see if its real leather or not (including the "match" test, but I don't really want to ruin the case either).
Thanks!

Can you send/post the link for the one you ordered that you are not happy with? There DEFINITELY was NO option for "another color material" for this case. Just the variation in stitching color.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Asus-Eee-Pad-...I&otn=3&po=LVI&ps=63&clkid=419235527009776241
3 different colours. Think I saw your link to the seller originally or you posted on the same thread I was reading. They were selling different colours under another listing. Anyway from the pictures you posted it is identical to mine... I think the ebay listing is misleading regarding the material.
Are you sure it isn't leather? I haven't tried the melt vs. scorch test on it yet so I'm not 100% sure. It feels like a really thin layer of leather over a harder backing...

Okay, that's it. I'm going to report every single one of your posts to have them deleted. All you are doing it trolling with your links to the FolioGuard.
100% certain its not leather. Got a reply from the the seller saying it is pv leather (I understand this to be a man made material and will never have been anywhere near a cow) which is fine but they should state this al the way through the listing. I have asked them to amend the listing and requested a part refund. If not I will report them to eBay and see what think
I am sure most people would be happy with the case and i agree with your review it does a reasonable job of proteting the Asus. The stitching is good but there is a small defect on the front of my case which
i like this case, might have to get one
well I am happy with the case seeing as i have just received a full refund. I do not need to return it either. So feels like a bargain now! Just shows you it is worth complaining. I hope they amend the listing to make it clear this is not leather for other people.

I got the same thing from Skinomi and I like it. I only added the one back panel.
That does look nice.
HTC Flyer / Tapatalk
Nice! Had a similar one from PhantomSkinz when I had my Captivate. Love the carbon look.
I have the same skin. I'm afraid the corners may start to peel back... Not faulting Skinomi, since it would be a problem with any cut to fit skin.
Just trying to think of ways to prevent it. Maybe a bead of nail-polish or super glue on the edges to smooth and reduce from catching... also prevent particles from getting under the edges.
I used a heat shrink gun for the edges and it pretty much gave it a very clean, secure adhesion to the tablet. I would think a hair blow dryer would do the same.
Did the same with a heat gun while wrapped in packing stretch wrap... But still feel as though it may get caught... Oh well, they sent me two by mistake or it may be there policy.

Yes, you really have to use a heat gun or blow dryer for best results ...I used a blow dryer.
I really want to get this skin combo but I wish they would cut out a section around the htc lettering like they do for the ipad skins.
I might just get it and do the cutting myself but I would prefer not to.
OP, thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Yes. I would have liked to see the HTC logo cut-out also. Overall its a nice cut.
Just installed yesterday. The pics are a bit lousy because the lighting here at work is crap and I can't just leave right now. I thought it would be nice to see the htc logo but after installing it I think it looks good as is.
It has a great textured feel to it and it adds a bit of grip to the view. I didn't install the sides because they just didn't line up right; I had to cut the skin for the top bumper because it would have prevented me from removing the cover if I need to get to my micro sdcard.
The screen protector that came with it is nice and doesn't have that rubbery feel that zagg's have. It doesn't affect the display at all unless you install it and leave many microbubbles and streaks behind.
Overall I give it 3.5 out of 5. The reason I rated it like this is because the original design prevents access to the micro sdcard without having to destroy the skin. Another reason is that the cutouts don't line up that great on the view. The edges that stick to the curves of the view seem to have been cut short and leave a bit of a gap between the skin edge and the edge it is supposed to wrap around.
Other than that, it's still not a bad price (29.95 I think I paid) for a full body-skin and screen protector. A heat gun or blow-dryer is a must use item when installing this skin. It makes the skin soft enough to be able to stretch it just bit if you need it to which is what I did in some areas to get the edges to line up correctly.
Nice skin but I agree it's a pain to cut the skin to be able to remove the sd card cover. And the corners we difficult to stay in place without putting a lot of heat to it. 3 stars for me.

I agree about the cutting of the cover portion. A razor did it fairly easily. The back portion of the skin is great. The rest is just meh. I must say though, that this company does stand behind their product. I wrote them after my install about the cover portion that came off when I tried to change out my micro sd card. He shipped me a whole new skin, screen protector and all. It was in my mailbox two days later. This is very rare these days. For that I give it four stars. I had a problem with a full body suit from body guards and still have not received my exchang from them, and that was weeks ago. The screen protector on this setup is one of the clearest I've used but it is a little grippy and feels unresponsive at times. Although, the finger prints are way less than when I had nothing at all.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the Skinomi carbon fiber skin and the Armor Suit carbon skin are the exact same thing. I just received my Armor suit today and was surprised when it was the exact thing. So if you're shopping for one you can get the cheaper of the two. Service wise the shipping was about the same, but Skinomi was on the ball with a replacement that same day. My Armor skin was originally for my Sammy 10.1 and I exchanged it for the flyer which took a month and me calling a few times to get it. I will say that they were very nice people and very understanding.

First impressions
It looks like carbon fiber and you do feel a slight texture.
It goes on easily with plenty of flexibility to line up with every cutout on the phone.
It can be reapplied in case of misalignment
It can be gently stretched to form a perfect fit around all four sides while still lining up with the cutouts
The sides surprised me by being slightly harder to line up than the front and back.
I may have gotten lucky with the front and back but they lined up perfectly on the very first try.
I did not follow any instructions
I did not remove my matte plastic screen protector
I did not remove the cutouts for the back or menu buttons
My dual layer case even fits if I ever need a little more protection.
Cutouts all line up perfectly for me.
Capacitive Buttons respond just fine while being covered completely
Makes the phone feel less slippery in my hands
Colors in my opinion work very well together.
Feels like it will stay in place unless I really choose to move it.
So far after just 24 hours I'm definitely impressed with the quality in materials the fit and the feel of this product. It was much easier to install than I had anticipated. It looks and feels much nicer than I ever imagined.
Thanks to Weston and Slickwraps.com my phone is now better protected, less slippery, and looks very unique

Man that's awesome.
That Sedio case is pretty good, its VERY protective yet much smaller than Otterbox and etc etc.
In fact, Otterbox is a pretty crappy case from my experience.
I like that case also has a sturdy kickstand, something I look for in all cases for phones that are 5+ inches.
Just wondering, do you like using the phone with the case more often than just the skin?
I was contemplating on using a skin + kickstand4u. And maybe a thin, plastic bumper too (you know for "just enough" protection, as slim as possible, and kickstand).
Have you had any experience with this?
How often do you use / want to use a kickstand?
Cheers
Kangal
I use the case 99.9% of the time. I rarely use the phone without a case it's just too slippery and too unprotected for my taste. Kickstand use is rare for me but it's nice that it's got one.

Wow, thanks for the update.
I changed my mind. I was going to do the same thing.... but have a (stick-on) kickstand on the back.
The stick-on isn't secured too well to the phone, and the extra layer of slickwrap on top would've sufficed.
...
But the problem is that it kinda gets slippery like you said.
And the 3M wrap doesn't absorb shocks, so a drop of the phone can cause (nicks) damages.
I've got a Matte-textured Black case that adds heaps of protection, and has a useful kickstand as well.
It does add girth, which is unwelcomed.... but its a worthwhile trade off.
Though it feels a little oversized for even me.
I think my minimum phone size is 5.2 inches, and maximum is 5.7 inches.
And ofcourse shaved bezels.
Optimum for me would be about 5.3 inches, with bezels like LG G3 or even less.
