Does the WiFi light flash when you switch WiFi on?
Do you have the latest radio rom (1.45.00)?
Can you ad-hoc WiFi between your Athena and Universal?
Have you tried looking for updated firmware for your Belkin?
The only reason I ask, is because I couldn't connect to my WiFi network either but my Universal could too. Did all of the above and it works fine now
hey yoor right the wifi light isnt flashing wat to do. pleasse post have to go will try wen i get back thanks
The first thing I would do is flash the radio Rom to 1.45.00.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319993&highlight=radio
still not working
hi tried everything you guys suggested but no luck also tried flasing all the roms i could find with no luck can somone post me a link please who has a t mobile ameo of the rom they are using and wifi is working properly.thanks in advance
If you have re-flashed the Radio rom and WiFi still doesn't work, I would say your device is faulty. Send it back for repair.
if this is the case anybody know where i can get the t mobile rom from for waranty.thanks

Hi
I use Belkin and and PK3.0 wm6 with WPA-TSK security enabled Wi-Fi connection to my athena no problem. You may have set up 54g connection only enabled in the router settings.
on the device start>> settings>> connections>>Wi-FI>>network Adapters then select IEEE 802........ and Select "The internet". Then press ok and reset the device
Belkin routers sometimes don't connect to the devices if you select higher security in wireless settings in the router. Therefore check the router's wireless settings.
set the device settings as above then Try modify settings in the router's wireless security settings. then save and restart the router and try connecting to the device.
I hope this will help you to connect to the Wi-fi internet. good luck
I dont know if this will help, but I have trouble connecting to my netgear router at home. It connects, but then shortly after, although still connected, loses its connectivity to the internet. To fix it, I have to turn off the power save mode to the wifi card and have the slidy bar to maximum performance to keep a connection
My preferred setup for WIFI
First and foremost, do a hard reset on the router by holding in the reset hole at the back for a few seconds until the lights blink.
Make sure security is OFF on the router and try to connect to it with your Ameo. If it works then yeehaa.....
The best setup I have at the moment with my router is with security DISABLED (believe it or not).
I then log into the router on my main pc and add a MAC FILTER list (i.e. the MAC addresses of the devices I wish to be allowed to connect to my router)
People may see a security-free router but they will NOT be able to connect unless their MAC address is on my router's list.

Errr - if they want to, yes they will. All they need do is scan the network for an active MAC address and then spoof their own MAC address to one already active on the network. OK, it's unlikely anyone would go that far but I would much rather simply use the security!
Hi all, hope to get help. I have unlocked unrooted on 024 X10. There was a reason to do reset settings, after that I was able to connect to the internet. after half a day, I usually enable/disable wifi, no sim, I could not connect, it shows it is obtaining IP and then Unsuccsesful, tried to remove connection, tried another WEP keys, still no go. I have 3 pc connected, one Samsung phone at that moment and wifi router allows 6 devices to be added. Any thoughts?
Im assuming its the WIFI security mode on the router. check and change it to WEP or WPA personal or WPA2 personal on the router. and keep encryption on TKIP or AES state.
I had some connection issues on enterprise mode. delete the key on the phone and try to connect again.
hey there could be several resons for that ... the first is the signal qualety .. al phones have comparet to pc 50 % les signal strengs normaly ... there could be aloso a problem with your router ... i had somthing simular befor .. it got fix when i change my router... yes and even if you have 3 pc in the wifi with no problem it still can be your router ... since i hade the exact same problem ... 4 pc workt fine but the 5th pc and all my phone's could not connect at all .. if you can try the phone at an nother router ... se if its the router or the phone ^^
Hi just received my GTablet and have installed ClockworkMod v08. Next, I am attempting to install the TNT Lite Rom but I am having trouble connecting to my home router.
The response I keep getting when trying to connect is to the point of "Obtaining IP address.." then it disconnects. I am sure it's not the wireless router but just to be eliminate possibilities, I've even switched off all the security with connect to the router, but the sames results. It keeps trying to re-connect. I can easily connect with my other PCs and printers.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Hello there,
did you ever solve your wifi problem, I am currently running the latest TnTlite, and this just started happening to me as well. It just hangs in Obtaining Ip then it disconnects.... I have never had this problem before in fact was online on the tab last night, now it seems i cannot connect... I will see if I can connect in another location hope nothing happened to the Tab..... BTW I tried restarting as what was suggested but that did nothing for me also....
Are you broadcasting your SSID?
Can you take the tablet somewhere else and try connecting at a Star Bucks, or a library, or something. See if it connects ok there?
Also, if it doesn't connect anywhere. Try flashing a different ROM to see if it is just that one.
I've had the same problem. I do not seem to be able to connect to any wifi that is encrypted with WPA. At work, we are WPA and I cannot connect at all. At home, I have WEP and can connect. I thought it might be something with the wifi settings on the tab, and have searched and searched and cannot find anthing.
By the way, this is my third tab and none of them could connect to a WPA encrypted router. The first two I returned as defective. IF there is an answer, I would love to hear about it.
Also, this is my first android device. I have been messing with Windows phones for a long time...thanks to the great people on this site.
Sorry to hear about your wifi problems. Just to let you know my experiences, I've (in the week I've owned my tablet) run TnT, VegaN and cyanogen (latest of each) and have never had a problem connecting to my home wifi - I do not broadcast my SSID at all and use WPA2/PSK encryption. You both mention WPA - can either of you try WPA2/PSK?
But on saying all of that, if you can't even connect to your wifi point without any security involved, it sounds either:
1) Hardware - faulty tablet but you said you're on your third so that sounds unlikely. Remember, while the tablet supports wifi G/N it does so over 2.4Ghz so if you have a router that only does 5Ghz or is set to work exclusively over 5Ghz, your router will not see your tablet
2) Software related - Have you reflashed your kernel at all? Did you possibly install a kernel (not rom) that does not have wifi drivers installed or something similar?
I hope something above might help you....
I was never able to connect to the wireless router. I shut all the security off, reset the router, rebooted the tablet but still the same results, "obtaining IP address" then it fails and tries again. I could connect to my neighbors Linksys so I know the tablet wifi is ok. I also so know that the router was ok since it had been serving my other PCs & printers for a number of years. It just wouldn't connect to each other.
The problem still persists.

You didn't answer in your response above, is your router a 5Ghz router or 2.4Ghz? Could the frequency of your router be causing your problem here? Remember the tab only supports 2.4Ghz frequencies
1. if your tablet can connect to your neighbor's router, then problem lies between your router and the tablet.
2. is your router a linksys? what wireless router are you trying to use?
3. are you using mac address filtering? is dchp enabled on the router or by some sort of home server?
4. your tablet can see your router, but for some reaon they cant agree on how to talk to each other. i'm on a linksys wrt54gsv4 and havent had a problem, not with default settings or wpa2 or mac filtering or the custom firmware i eventually installed on it (ddwrt), tomato)

You are ATTEMPTING to install TnT ROM? You dont need the Internet connection, just sideload it then install. Am i Right?
Then after you install the TnT rom, sideload also the Kernel TnT base with wifi fix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895825
Hope this will solve your problem.
Good luck

I have an older Microsoft 2.4Ghz B/G wireless Router. I'll try to sideload the Kernel TNT base with the WiFi fix.
Thanks for the tips.
Since the original posting I have got TNT Lite installed (using my neighbors router)

Something else occurs to me out of pure ignorance. I'm not sure how Android stores profile information. But I know with both mac and windows I've had occasion where "forgetting" the network and letting the device rediscover it has solved problems.
It sounds like you've been down that road already. However, it does bear asking. It's the more obvious things we often forget to consider.
Well it looked like the tablet needed to be reset a couple of times as i was just online with it... now the tab just froze, shut off and now i cannot turn it on... off to another thread to see what to do now... god i hope this thing is not bricked....any suggestions on what is a good thread would be appreciated... off i go.......

Try to hold the power button for a long time and maybe it may turn back on. Before doing your last resort (disecting the tablet).
I had a problem with my wifi going into loops when I first got the unit. It would show it connecting/disconnecting/connecting/etc as described in the first post.
I had another router (both the same makes - Linksys WRT54G but different model numbers) so I tested the other router and I connected fine. I haven't gone back to test the first router yet and I am using the 2nd one.
The router I couldn't connect to has DD-WRT micro on it, and I haven't had problems connecting other wireless devices to. The one that is working fine with the g-tablet now has Tomato on it (it is a lower version number which supported Tomato).
Too bizarre... I now have this problem.
I received my gtablet today and installed clockwork mod recovery and vegan-tab ginger RC 1. Or, essentially, I followed the instructions here and got everything working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Wifi worked fine until the evening. Wifi is on, and in the settings under the SSID of my wifi network, it says Obtaining IP address for a minute until it says Disabled, network in range. I've done some common trouble shooting, like restarting, turning wifi off and on, forgetting the network and reentering password. That didn't work. My cell phone has a mobile hotspot feature and the gtablet CAN join that. I wonder what gives... I hope someone can help.
(This could be just coincidence, but it's about when I powered up my desktop computer. The desktop connects to the internet through a DMZ router that has a wired connection to the wifi router in another room. The desktop is now off and the gtablet still has this problem.)
Ok. Resetting my router fixed it. I never thought that my router could just "dislike" one particular device. I thought for sure something had to be wrong with the device. Forgive my ignorance!
G Tablet Wifi
I do not transmit my SSID and this has never been a problem with any of our laptops or netbooks. When I first received my G Tab and tried to connect to my network, even though I had entered the SSID and Passphrase correctly, it still would not connect. As soon as I set my wireless router to transmit the SSID the G Tab connected without any problems.
This is the first time I've encountered a problem of this nature. Comments?
This is what worked for me. I posted this in a similar thread as well.
Hey, I had WiFi connection issues too. I just got a Viewsonic G-Tablet with the Android 3.0 OS and have a D-Link DI-524 wireless router. It could see router and would try to connect, but would cycle and never connect. I could try to connect to other available networks in the area. It connected fine to an unsecure network, and when I tired to connect to secure networks there was a place where I could enter a network key/password. However, I noticed this option was not available on my network when I tried to connect. I reset my router which did not help. I then chose the option to add a network on the tab. This worked!! I was able to enter the key from the add a network option. I then told the "bad" connection to be forgotten. Hope this helps someone else, as I had looked on the internet for awhile for an answer. I was about to buy a new wireless router too!! Oh, I am using WEP too.
edit: ok when I power my tablet back on the same issue was happening. This time I could enter a network and the cycling still contiuned. I even forgot and re-entered the network. The fix this time was to reboot the tab. However, my internet has been acting up lately so IDK.
Basically, the problem is I can't connect to my home WiFi initially when powering up my Gtablet. It can see my network but when I try to connect it just says Obtaining IP address and eventually doesn't work. If I restart my router I can connect no problem, but if I turn off or restart my Gtablet It will not connect.
So basically I have to restart my router if I want to connect to my Gtablet.
I'm running CWM 8 and Vegan Gingerbread 7.0 harmony
My router is netgear, I can check the model if it's necessary.
Everything works fine except this internet problem.
I seem to be having some problems with my tab gray 16 gb wifi version.
When i started it for the first time it could not find my wifi, i went ahead with setup and when i was finished i looked into wifi settings and it had found my router.
A few days went by and all of a sudden i was connected to the router but had no internet connection, I checked my computer which was connected by wire and it had internet connection. I then tried to switch wifi on and off on the tab and since then i cannot find my router.
I've tried rebooting both router and tab and it has not resolved the problem. Anyone else experiencing these issues? Any solutions? I thank you all in advance.
btw the router is a D-link dir-655

Unplug the router and plug it back in. I have experience this issue as well. My desktop was able to connect to the Internet. But my laptop won't connect through wireless. Not even my wireless printer. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it works fine. Sometimes, it's other way round.

I have the same router and I don't have any problems connecting. I did have many problems with my OG Droid phone connecting though, until I switched from WEP to WPA encryption.
Can you see the router on your Tab, but it just won't connect? Or is it not visible at all?
I have tried unplugging the router leaving it unplugged for 30 sexonds or so and then plugging it back in, no luck. And no I cant even see the router, I see lots of routers but not mine, I can connect to my phone using mobile access point but just not my router
Does your router use a hidden SSID?

This might sound funny, but do you have anything else connected to the WiFi? My router sometimes does this same exact thing and it happens to do with the traffic going through it. It happens alot when I'm using my laptop and my Xbox 360 and I turn off my Xbox for some reason. The way that I've always found that fixes it, is by rebooting all my connected devices along with rebooting my router. It's as if their is a conflict with the connections that make it not work.
No hidden SSID and at the moment nothing is connected to my router wireless
edit: Solution! logged in to my router switch of wi-fi, turned it back on, enabled wpa2 security and there it was right on my tab, welcome back old friend
I had the same problem, but solved it by changing locale setting on my router from Czech Republic (where I live) to USA.
figure out how many devices are connected to your router. My router can hold only five devices at a time. Also change the channel in your router settings.
good to know problem is solved
