Geocaching
Try one of this:
gpsVP http://code.google.com/p/gpsvp/
LOCIFY http://www.locify.com
Hi Motoba,
thanks for your info, but both software dont working together with geocaching.com
:-(
any other ideas?
gpsVP is not for geocaching only. I select waypoints on my PC, save them to WPT file. Transfer WPT to mobile and open in gpsVP. Info about geocaches is saved in HTM files on mobile too.
Locify has support for geocaching, but it is not easy to make it work on Rose.
I found another application for geocaching yesterday. It is GCzII http://www.nicque.com/PQz/GCz.htm. It is for touch screen devices, but only few things do not work. I sended mail to program maker, to add support for non-touchscreen.
Great! exactly what I need.
thanks
GREAT!! now (from the Release Notes)
- Windows Mobile Starndard Edition support.
(Non touch screen version)

Hi,
Perhaps it's not my place (Being a newbie )but thought this forum could do with a dedicated thread for comments regarding what software works on the Monet/Lobby and how to load it in.
What software is crap and what software is spectacular.
And where to get it and is it FREE!
I'm sure that I and others will visit frequently for the latest views & opinions.
Just for starters here are some truly FREE ringtones.
Just need to give 'A' email address. Dont bother with Email just download and use 'back-Arrow' to get them all.
Enjoy.

My 'must have' apps
1. Sprite Backup Personal Edition (Version 5.2.0) - very handy for backup and restore of your Lobby. You can create self-extracting restore 'exe' files on your micro-SD card 'just in case'.
2. Tom Tom Mobile (Version 5.200 (4450)) - brilliant Sat Nav.
3. Automatic Keylock (v3.87) by Danny Baumann. The normal Windows keylock (pressing the Red Hang Up button) doesn't work that good for me. When someone calls you, I had the nasty habit of answering the call before I could see who it was, or even cutting many people off when taking the phone out of my pocket. This app gives you a screensaver that locks the keypad down a little better.
4. RealDice Mutliplayer Championship Poker (Version 4.24). Like playing Texas Hold'em? Why not play against other people over GPRS internet connection? I love this game. Even the AI in the single player is very good. The running costs (in terms of KB playing over the WAP/GPRS) isn't, surprisingly, that much.
5. Avantgo - Sync up all the latest news for your long commute to work.
6. Resco Smartpack - contains System Toys (battery / memory status), Photo Viewer, a more powerful Explorer application and a registry editor. I know that you can get some of these for free, but this pack is trouble free and very well written.
7. TCPMP (aka BetaPlayer) - One big drawback for me is that Windows Media Player doesn't allow you to easily Fast Foward through your movies or music when you are playing them. TCPMP can do this plus it is a fab media player, and there are many other codecs available to play non-Windows files too.
8. CellDoom - If you are as old as me and remember playing Doom on your old 386 then get yourself CellDoom. Dig out your old Doom WAD files and drain your battery playing this
9. Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook (Windows Mobile Edition 2.5 (Build: 1258)) - Wish you could text as fast as the Young Guns? If you've got Outlook and a Smartphone then get this. Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook allows you to send SMS from your PC (via ActiveSync / USB connection). It will sync up all your Sent, Received and draft texts (SMS messages) on your Outlook too. Excellent for quick, long and multiple recepient messages.
10. Breaksoft Mobile Registry Editor. A PC based application that allows even easier registry access to your Smartphone.
Some of the above applications are free, others you will need to purchase. All can be found via Google
Only the "Automatic Keylock (v3.87) by Danny Baumann" requires the Lobby to be unlocked.
Excellent start to this list ringp3ace.
will def be trying some of these out.
you didn't mention whether or not Lobby needs to be unlocked first though.

While you're there why not get the free golf game too? Download the landscape phone version though as this will run full screen on a QVGA smartphone.

Thanks.
Was in too much of a hurry to get some decent tunes and didn't notice that one.
Good game.
Is there a 3rd-party SW that can replace Office Mobile for non-touchscreen smartphones?
I am looking for a program that would fulfill at least the minimal requirements (such as basic editing, or for Excel, basic calculation) but still be compatible to MS Office on the desktop
Thanks in advance!

Definitely Documents To Go from Dataviz. http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/winmobile/index.html
Thanks for the prompt resonse !
Have DL the trial version but can't get it to work on the S740 (except for Excel which passes). Apparently, they support the S710 only
Anything else?
I tried on S740 and it worked well.. but the weird thing is i cant seem to install it on the storage card.
That's interesting; how did you do it? Above all, how do you handle the split screen in keyboard mode?
Which version did you use?
The version i used was 3.0010.
What do you mean by splitscreen in keyboard mode ?
When I go to keyboard mode, I get a screen that is split in two

With Office Mobile (Word, Excel), you can create new docs, edit...
On pc, create empty word document, copy it to device and open with Word Mobile. Then right soft-key and chose EDIT... If you are done, right soft-key, File-Save As... Write name of doc and save. Thats all.
I know all that, korenisko; and that's not the issue.
The problem is that the functionality of Office Mobile for non-touchscreens is laughable; the most rudimentary functions, such as cut & paste are not possible.
If you want to use the device in its full potential, a replacement of Office Mobile is called for

Hi All,
On my Diamond i use Oziexplorer CE for viewing and using landmaps (I think thats the English word, the Dutch word is "stafkaarten." Please correct me if i'm wrong).
I was wondering if there is an app for android that can do the same. I'll be receiving my hero any day now and this is the last app i need to replace.
Many thanks in advance.
If there isn't any, thats allright too. Then at least i can stop searching
Google maps or Route 66
don't know of anything (Google Maps or Route66 or CoPilot or whatever is NO alternative for OziExplorer ).
Did you try asking the authors of OziExplorer if they have an Android build in the back of their heads somewhere?
Maybe this can be interesting?

sounds interestimg, ill try ...
did some tests with ownmap, but the map utility doesnt work and devs are not responding to mail
P.S: Looks promising, however, there are certain challenges with the conversion of ozi files, some segments are distorted and its about 200m away from the actual point ... In ozi, the maps are very precise. Will test and do some research, I'm shure, theres a solution to the 'minor' problems
Well, the month of august in Spain is the "hollidays month" and for this reason it's possible that developers are absents.
I like Oziexplorer and CompeGPS with my Windows Mobile PDA, and I will try change to Android with a new PDA HTC Hero and test this software Oruxmaps in it.
Greetings
OruxMaps
Obviously I did a mistake in converting, a second try lead a to much better calibration. First impression is very good, OruxMaps shows my position and let me record tracks and logfiles, I can set waypoints and follow a route (not tested yet). First wish: a tool to lock the keys and blank the screen to save energy why tracking a hike ... But as said, very promising application
looks very promising indeed. Does anyone know how to convert ozfx3 files to be used in this app??

never tried it, as I have the original files ...
but you might try demapper from terraperfecta
Can't download it from the market. Known issue?
I've created an Android application called Viamici for which you do not need a PC to calibrate a map - you can do it on a phone
New ideas for Ozi or substitute on Android?
Does anybody know about new developements on the problem: Running Ozi on an android-device?
Next wekk I visit the USA and will buy a Nexus One. It would be great if I could go on with all my Ozi-calibrated maps. Thanks for any idea!
"We are currently doing trials and evaluating whether we will develop an Android version." - http://www.oziexplorer3.com/ozice/faq_os.html
Some encouragement from our side would not be bad: [email protected]
Encouraging?
and this was Ozi's answer to my encouragement last week:
"An Android version will not be available for a considerable time."
Ozi Explorer replacement
Hi all,
Some time ago I wrote crossplatform library for reading Ozi Explorer maps
(_ttp://code.google.com/p/swampex/) and Ozi Explorer equivalent for Linux
(_ttp://code.google.com/p/ozex/) - and even used it in offroad competitions.
Moreover, I started project for Android and got a development version.
(_ttp://code.google.com/p/yozi/).
Unfortunately, it was discontinued due to the lack of time, but if someone want to take a part in development - please contact me.
BTW, I'm rare visitor of xda forum, so e-mail will be preferred way.
Best wishes.
yozi: replacement for ozi explorer on android
I've decided to reinvent the wheel and released alpha version of yozi - Ozi Explorer replacement for Android OS.
Features:
- Topographic maps rendering (ozf2/ozfx3 formats)
- Maps automatic load for a current location
- Switching between more/less detailed maps for a currend location
- Movement tracking using internal GPS receiver
- Import waypoints from GPX, KML, WPT files
- Show waypoint on Radar screen
- Shared waypoints database with RMaps2 application
- Worldwide search for places by name using Google's API (requires network access). You can search for a city, street, lake or river and view it's location on your topographic map.
Can be downloaded here (sorry, I'm novice here and can't post direct URLs yet):
_ttp://code.google.com/p/yozi/
Yozi works great!! It reads directly the Ozi maps files used in the Pocket PC/Windows Mobile Oziexplorer. There is no need to convert the files using a Desktop computer. Like the Windows Mobile version YOZI can read ozf2/ozfx3 files. These can be converted from other format using the normal desktop version of OziExplorer.
Congratulations!
I really recommend it to everybody. Easy, simple and clear app:
http://code.google.com/p/yozi/
BTW: Why is it not yet in the Market?

Update 1.01
@zorgan
I wonder, how you want to release it for Android, if there is root needed for enabling WiFi ad-hoc mode? Will it be for rooters only?
@Brut.all
I know the "issue 82" on Android. First i release for root users and if google decide to correct this issue it will be available for all on Android.
I work on the same time on BB and Nokia device and it works fine
been looking for something like this..will try it out on a HTC Jade and see...my main use is to be able to transfer files from one device to another...
I have written a new Windows GPS application for outdoor activities. It uses free maps from the internet, and shows road maps, satellite images and, in the UK, OS maps. It has a simple route planner and records trails of the path taken.
It differs from existing applications I could find in that it can download data for an area using a home broadband connection, and then work offline in the field. This avoid excessive data charges when roaming, and also allows the program to be used where there is no phone signal.
The program comes in 2 versions - a desktop one for XP/Vista/Win7 and a mobile one for Win CE, WinMo 5 & 6 (but not yet 7). It works on legacy Win CE SatNav systems. The desktop version can download data to the mobile device or, if it has internet access, the mobile unit can download its own data.
I hope sell a version of this, but am currently finishing the development. If any-one would like to try it and provide feedback, I would be very grateful.
Where to download a trial-version from?

Please send me a private message if you want to try it, and I'll send the download link. I want to limit the number of users until I'm reasonably certain its working reliably.
