T-mobile Compact V Car kit? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Accessories

Hi, this weekend i got my t-mobile version of the Diamond2, named as the Compact V. The design is different from the Diamond2, unlike my previous phone (Compact IV, t-mobile version of the diamond) the design is in my opinion worse than the original... It's all black, no metal finishes and gives a more plastic feeling. The most annoying part is that they placed a little removable cover at the bottom where the mini-usb port is placed. You always have to remove the cover to connect an cable.
This will give problems using a car cit; it won't be possible to slide it in becouse you first have to open the cover, after that it will be in the way...
At the sides of the usb port you can look 'inside' the phone, it's not closed at the sides so i find it tricky to remove the cover as all kind of dirt and dust can get inside the phone...
Does anybody have an solution for this? I looked at ebay for replacement housing but that only will cost me about €50, and i'm not sure if all the buttons will fit exactly...

Interesting! Searching for a Car Kit too (and some solution for the USB-Cover)..
BTW. this cover also makes it nearly impossible to use my stylish HTC-desktop-cradle..
This Design wasn't the best idea from T-Mobile^^

i just sent t-mobile a question about this issue. They chose a strange solution in my opinion. The compact IV looked a lot better than the original, and now they come up with this plastic cheaper looking phone, with holes at the side of the usb port... strange design.

Your're right dude! You speak out what I think^^

ok, now that's two of us... I'll await the reaction from T-mobile

Hey Hellboy.
What do you think, could this fit for our devices too?
I bought a car cradle designed for the Diamond1 for my MDA Compact IV and had to modify it a bit to fit my device... Do u think this would be necessary here too?

It's not what i'm searching for, i can buy an universal car holder everywhere... The active car kit i bought from Adapt for my mda compact IV worked perfect; voice and navigation commands come over the speaker and the phone is charged while in the holder. The same kit exists for the diamond2, but with the compact V we have the bloody cap...
http://www.adapt-mobile.com/mobile/detail.php?p_id=504

The one I posted is for Diamond2 only, not a universal kit.
Think I will try one for Diamond2 and test it for my MDA c V^^
[edit] I've bought this one.
Got the same for my MDA c IV and was very satisfied!

looks good, but still lacks the possibility i seek; hands free car kit and charging. Just slide the phone in an you're done. The one i posted has all these options, and worked fine on my compact IV...

Hey Hellboy,
did TMob ever answer your question?
Just curious... as I am also struggling to find a matching mount for my CV.
thx

Nope,
Never had any reaction... Great service!

XDAIIs car kit????

hi everyone
ive just bought myself a XDAIIs pda, ive set up TOMTOM 3 sat nav and have bought a BT TomTom GPS receiver. sat navs working perfectly. but got one BIG problem, i cant find myself a decent car kit. ive tried the Arkon CM531, didnt like it-too many wires and very messy, got carkit with fixed charging through the cig-lighter- did not fit my phone as cradle was for XDAII.
Im really stuck so could anyone please help me. im looking for a car kit which will allow me to slide my xda2s in and out easily, hold it in place and also charge it at the same time whilst its in the cradle.
ANY SUGGESTIONS
Same here ! I could not find anything decent. Any suggestion welcome !
xda2s car cradle
did you find one ?
I GOT THE ANSWER
GOOD CAR CRADLE
TRY
WWW.ARKON.COM

VENKAT
Try www.brodit.com, they produce a few different versions ie. power, power/gps or passive. there not bad looking either!
How do you deal with the Arkon RF/speaker interference?
venkie9910,
sorry for repeting my question, but I did not go an aswer yet:
I read here that it was unacceptable...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13654&start=0
how do you deal with it?
Thanks,
Chris
I got the brodit one from handnav with a pro-clip and it fits perfectly and looks good (once you've removed the tacky brodit sticker). Only problem is that the hard-wired version isn't available for the PDA2K yet and the cost! A bundle including the clip, holder and charger set me back £70, but you pay for what you get.
Hard wired one is now available with or without gps ps2 port, I have just ordered one with gps, cost £59.99 plus p+p, the pro clip for fitting to the dash cost £15.99. hopefully it will arrive next week
Hi all, I have this Bordit 849582 for sale: http://w3.easytrade.net/brodit_shop/product.dip?item=1225583&fid=1225727
Just buy yourself a Rikaline GPS mouse . Attach it in your car and slide your Qtek 2020 into the cradle and start navigating!
Interesting? Mail me or just reply!
I think people hurry into buying a bluetooth GPS which leaves them with only a hardwired option for in-car. (some exceptions with multiple bluetooth capability) I prefer the inverse combination. If you're using your nav software you need to see your phone so its going to be in a cradle anyway. If you just pop down the shops you can leave your phone in your pocket and your bluetooth carkit still works.
I'd go for a cradle with GPS built in, or a connector for extrnal GPS. Preferably powered (battery hungry these PDAs!) then BT carkit.
But be careful with carkit choice. Some have the awful echo problem. Can't add much more than that except that an M2000 and Nokia CK-7W is NOT a good combination :-(
There is a decent carkit coming that supports talk function and wired GPS. It is already available for the 2020 and its coming for the 9090. It`s based on a CMPC Carcomm cradle. If everything goes right it should be released next week. I will buy it definatly and will keep everybody posted.

Cheap and Effective Magnetic Mount
Hi,
how about trying a magnetic mount?
http://www.tangshop.com/magnetic-cell-phone-holder.html
Cheap, effective and neat (inconspicuous), but you have to stick the metallic mounting plate onto the back of your PDA (somewhere in the middle, preferably on the battery). Fortunately, the sticky pads are from 3M so they are strong and the residue can be removed with normal dabbing of scotch tape. The metal plate is thin so it does not affect the fitting to existing casings.
The part that sticks to the dash is using the same adhesive too.
I've tried this with a Bluetooth GPS and the XDA IIs on the dash, and the magnet is strong enough to hold the PDA in place even through fast corners and bumps ...
Cheers,
David
Another option is from this company:
http://www.thb.de
However I couldn't find a picture of the cradle.
I have however seen the cradle in the flesh and is it very very nice... even has DSP processing for the handsfree.
It is very pricey though.
Forgot to also add this link.... has a few pictures

I do not know if they have one for the tom tom as I do not know what a tom tom is, but ProClipUSA.com has some great PDA holders for the iMate PDA 2K

Brodit Polaris Active Car Holder Available :D

Hi,
Here it is from Clove!
http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct....&product=1D0A78F8-C643-40C0-A006-1157B4C8200C
£45.83 inc VAT
A bit expensive considering their active car holders are usually £33-ish.
Will defo get one when it is available in more places!
If anyone has got one already, please post a review
Thanks.
i have a Brodit passive holder....
just a quick comment on it..
I have had a brodit holder for every PDA i have had for the last X amount of years and have never been unhappy in the least bit...
When i picked up the holder for the TC from the local shop here in Sweden, I looked at it and said "boy that looks tiny".... i thought maybe my head was playing tricks on me...
i took it out of the package at the counter and tried to shove my phone in it.... I would have needed a crow bar, and elephant and some butter to get it in there....
luckily the shop that i bought it from also doubles as a car stereo installation/ car mod shop.....
one of the guys from the shop was there and whisked me into the back and got out his heat gun and heated it up and together we made it fit to a T.
now it is perfect and i love it....
(i wonder, did brodit try to make this only with dimension from HTC, or had they an actual unit during their manufacturing process???)
anyway now i am once again a satisfied Brodit customer....
Proclip
I just got my holder yesterday. While tyhese are a little more than all the others I have seen it looks to be about the best holder I hqave ever had. I had one of the cheap ones off ebay and it broke already. This one seems to be very well made. They offer a few different models for the TC. With or without tilt or charger. I got one with the tilt and I like it. For what these phones cost it is worth it to get a quality holder for the car.
This my carholder-active, orginal for P3300
I got the Brodit as well as I've used them before and they are really well made....that is, except for this one which is as tight as you like. The o2 orbit2 does not fit it properly and I'm now having to debate sending it back vs. finding someone with a heat gun !!!!
In fact, I returned it and have just received another one....problem is that this one is even tighter. Will now have to find someone with a heat gun !!!!
Mine is a tight fit too but far better than the one I had for my last pda. If it isn't tight it buggers up the mini usb connection. The fitting kit for the car works fine too but it would have been better if the curley cable was shorter and the straight bit from the mount was longer just to make it easier to route the cable.
If you're looking for a car holder for the touch cruise, go to best buy in the auto dept., look for one made for the iphone and ipod both. It is around $12 and clips onto your air vent. The cruise fits in it perfectly.

Handy in-car holder information

For those who are looking for a car holder for their TP2 and can't find one yet, I have made a useful discovery.
The Brodit TyTNII Holder actually fits the TP2 better than my TyTNII ever did!
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/HTC+TyTN II-Brodit-Holder.asp
I tried it last night and it slid into the fixing nice and easily.
The only issue I had was that I have an active holder, so the miniUSB connector wasn't lined up and so wouldn't charge the phone. I'm sure with some careful modification it wouldn't be too difficult to sort that out though!
I'm now in two minds as to whether I even bother getting a proper TP2 kit when it's out!

Depends, you can just screw it into your car, but I use the Brodit Proclip which is different for every car. Mine hooks around the side of the radio and into another groove and is very solid, then the holders screw into the proclip.
Proclips are probably the best way forward, no holes in your car
I have a dashmount kit from www.dashmount.co.uk as the proclip from brodit doesn't seem to fit my car correctly.

I have the passive brodit holder for the TYTN II, but TP2 doesn't fit without scrating it.
seems to fit in my origional htc trinity carrier perfectly, only problem is i cant charge it lol so ill have to get a new one eventually
thank you for the tip!!
I have a Brodit Active holder for my old P3600 (Trinity) and it fits real nice...
After some modifications (I cut off the USB part, and super glued it back on at the correct place to fit my TP2) I now have a Brodit Active holder that I can use again!
No scratches what so ever!!
(saves me about €50 )
^Good Tips...Brodit has always been my favorate car holder for all my devices!
do you know when the TP2 model will be released?
thanks
asked brodit and they say later next week...
Brodit holders now available. Just got to wait for them to filter to your resellers now.
Active: http://www.brodit.com/productinformation.jsp?anr=512021&sortiment=null
Passive: http://www.brodit.com/productinformation.jsp?anr=511021&sortiment=null
As I have already said, looks more or less identical to the Kaiser mount with a central support.
A word of warning to people buying, I had 2 active Brodit mounts that killed 2 different Kaisers because the charger unit was dodgy.
In the end I got another replacement from Brodit but I was too cautious of them by then, so I hacked an official HTC car charger into it.
I am personally gonna get the passive holder and use my HTC charger as I'm not going to take the risk again.
The htc supplied trinity/m700 one fits a dream but needs the bottom cutting out a little as the plug socket is in a different location. Damn good sturdy mount as well.
not sure I'll be getting any until it is confirmed that the pins are aligned and the phone does charge when using GPS.
I had issues with the Brodit one for the Kaiser and when it never worked they blamed HTC
Just ordered my passive with tilt swivel now!
Hope it arrives soon!!

Hi, yes I saw those I am leaning more towards the active one though.
Thanks anyway.
Messa
I ordered a passive mount this morning and a new proclip to see if they ship the right one this time!
I'd try and heed my advice about the active mounts. At least wait until some other poor guinea pig has tried one!
I asked HTC This:
Is there an option for the HTC Touch Pro2 with the HTC 3-in-1 connector bundle?
Or is this compatible:
Set A
- 513021 Active Holder, Tilt Swivel
- 945011 Adapter Cable
Set B
- 512021 Active Holder, Tilt Swivel
- 945011 Adapter Cable
In terms of connecting my HTC touch Pro2 to a charging unit (built in the car) and also using the AUX out of the device via the mini-USB.
I want to know if the 3-in-1 cable/connector is able to be “plugged” in into 513021 of 512021
They answered me this:
It will also come a 3-in-1 holder for this device. The item no will be:
519021 short cable
520021 long cable
I hope those will be ready within 2-3 weeks.
One thing that you need to keep in mind with the 3-in-1 cables in that if you plug it in, the external speaker gets disabled. therefore if you're planning on using the mount for satnav, you'll need to hook it up to an aux-in on your car speakers in order to get any sound!

any mounts for the CompactV?

If there is such a thing - could anyone point me to a car-mount for the T-Mobile verision of the Topaz?
I am actually looking for a simple mount - passive - no extra joints or windsheeld mounts. BUT as I seem to be very unsuccessful I would be happy for any link to something I can 'work with'
Just bought one 'specially made for Comapct V' which turned out to be a Topaz mount also ... seller says 'there are none - just be sure to use it in portrait mode - it fits good enough - or use a universal one'. Don't know if I will try to modify it or send it back ...
Any help appreciated!
the compact V has the problem of having the cap in front of the usb-jacket. No way you can use an activge carkit that way, the cap sits always in the way
I'm not looking for anything active...
Just sent the topaz-mount which was sold to me as a compactV-mount back today. Although the shop said 'they will never build one' - "Herbert Richter" replied that it will be available!
I did order it in a shop they recommended and hope to get it soon.
I presume the passive holder works equally well, but I am using the Brodit 512011 holder for my Compact V. Just swing the usb cover to one side and it connects to the active holder OK:
http://www.brodit.com/productinformation.jsp?anr=512011
Keith
I bought this one !
I bought this and it works a treat.
http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/188/herbert-richter-pda-smartphone-grip
Had the plastic moulded one for my MDA Compact IV so just bought this and mounted it on the same holder.
The little pins at the bottom slide back and forth so you can position them to have access for USB charger and also the annoying USB cover.
Hope this helps
Martin
Using Brodit passive holder incl. special screwless mounting for my car. Better than all standard holders.

Car holder for Topaz

hello,
just need some opinions about car holders. first one CU S240 holder for topaz
http://www.handy-heaven.de/shop/images/b178412.jpg and second one is universal htc holder CU G100 http://www.1a-handyshop.de/images/artikel/HTC-CU-G100.jpg
which one prefer you guys? im still hesitating.
I wouldn't go for either. Brodit are the best. There is no fiddling with plugs with that, you just slide it in and it is charging....
Alternatively see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564493
i bought one like the one in first link with charger for about 10$ on ebay,
the handle (long part) broke immediately, so luckily the plastic that holds the phone itself is disconnectable and fits HR and i had HR handle from my old phone so the combination works but for itself its piece of crap.
too bad HR dont make holder for topaz - simple & rock solid - mine works for 2 years now with several phones.
about the universal ones i tried couple and its never perfect...
Look at brodit. Costly but the best available. The one for Diamond can be sued for Diamond 2
I just purchased this (spendy $59) one from ProClip...
http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-device-holder/htc-touch-diamond-2-(gsm)/charging-holder-with-tilt-swivel-and-cigarette-lighter-adapter-512011-17511.aspx
It's on backorder now, but should be here within a week. I'll let you know how I like it.
[edit: It's by Brodit... didn't realize that.]
I was thinking of going for the CS240 as well, some site have it around £20
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/htc-touch-diamond2-car-upgrade-kit-cu-s240-p18997.htm
Most HTC originals I have bought are great quality.
That said I also spotted these Herbert Richter, any tried them ?
http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/2417/herbert-richter-htc-touch-diamond-2-jacket-grip
I like the idea of multiple attachements, for the bike, car, etc...
Anyone bought and tried either of these, the Brodkit ones looks too bulky and over priced (to me).
The CS240 is great quality. It is actually made by Herbert Richter in Germany and the jacket grip of the second link you supplied is part of the CS240 set. So I think the set is the best bargain. It has a very good build quality. Nothing waggles during driving.
There is one drawback. The jacket grip may scratch the shiny surface of the battery cover, but if the TD2 is used without a case its probably scratched anyway.
I bought something that looks like your second link. And let me tell you, that was the cheapest piece of Chinese crap I have ever bought. The sides the open and close to grip the phone were getting jammed, the became loose and phone would fall. In two month it had been broken.
Nomas mis dos centabos.
I just bought this one

Have you thought about the parrot branded car kits.
The blue tooth works really well and I have had for a long time and it never let me down.
