Registering Network / Home service - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Hi everyone!
Weird problem, been playing with Rom's this week to see the new builds of Windows Mobile 6.5. Loving the latest builds, all very speedy.
Problems I'm having though.
I've flashed my radio and used appropiate rilphone.dll.
Now getting:
1/ Home Service as Network rather than O2.
2/ Sporadically message saying register network and a list of networks. Selecting O2 and then Home Service is replaced with O2.
3/ Point 2 stops working after reboot and goes back to Home Service.
Any ideas?

I also noticed something diferent in the new builds. I used to just export my registry keys with my home wifi network password, but in the new builds it still asks me for the password when I import the registry settings. In all builds prior to 21731 I was able to import my reg settings during SASHIMI auto-install and I was set to go. I cant find where the info is stored now. Seems they have changed some connection related registry keys and this could possibly be contributing to your issue.
Do you still have service when it says "Home Network"? Or are you unable to make calls at all? I ask because this info may be helpful in answering your original question.

Calls are working without issue. Occasionaly get a sleeping cell where I have reception but people end up leaving voicemails, I think it's more O2 there though.
It's weird, just tried some more Radio ROM's and the issue remains. I'm guessing it's a 6.5 rom issue. Potentially a Hard Reset would fix it but after so much config time I really don't want to!

GRPS won't connect after upgrade to latest O2 ROM

HELP!!!
Since I downloaded and installed the latest O2 ROM update (from Source O2) I now don't seem to be able to connect to GPRS.
The message I get is "The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings." If I select settings everthing seems as it should.
After the update I ran the auto configuration within the O2 Active for UK, PostPaid and GPRS. So things should be OK shouldn't they? When I try and rerun the auto config it preselects Germany (is this just a default or is does this read from the settings in the system?)
Within GPRS settings the authentication is set for PAP (I've tried CHAP but it still doesn't work) and I'm using it as a Class 8 (4R1T) device.
I am also not getting the GPRS "G" appear at any point, so this might indicate that my local cell is not allowing GPRS at the moment, although it's been like this now since Thursday/Friday and I would have thought that it would have been fixed. (Southampton East - if anyone wonders)
Also it worked before the update so I know that GPRS is working on my account.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am stumped!
There is a bug on the xda2, I had the same problem with the German settings, even when I chose uk it still rebooted to the German, if you do it again, choose the uk, assuming you are in uk, wait a bit, then tap it again before doing ok, it took me 4 attempts.
I'm pretty sure that the autoconfig applet only loads settings if you have the check box selected and then close the applet. It doesn't really matter what is displayed in the check box when you actualy open the applet as these setting will not be loaded (unless you select the tick and then close auto config).
I have updated my XDA II with the ROM from the Asian site and have been using GPRS without issue. If you are not getting the G displayed it may be like you said that your telco's GPRS is currently offline?
Ed
Panic Over - I can confirm it's just my local cell not liking GPRS at the moment, Phew!! I think I paniced too soon
I've visitied my parents today across the country and GPRS works for me there so must be O2 in Southampton East - rotten lot

GPRS and MMS

Hi,
This topic seems to have been covered a lot on many bulletin boards concerning Windows mobile 5 for smartphones and GPRS connections but so far - to my knowledge - no conclusion.
I have a 8500 as a second phone used for my Swedish card most of the time however, when I'm back in the Uk and going out I switch cards as I don't like taking my S100 out (too big).
I have (or did have until tonight) GPRS set-up correctly for Telenor in Sweden and both internet and MMS worked fine. I installed a CAB for Vodafone UK settings for GPRS and MMS tonight and could not get the two sets of settings to work in harmony. In the end I had to remove the UK settings in order for Windows to connect correctly on the Swedish network.
Does anyone know how to have two different setting defined and tell Windows 5 which setting to use? All I can see on the internet front is "Automatically detect settings" which seems to do nothing. Also I can't seem to tell which connection is taken, is there somewhere that indicates this?
MMS seems to be a similar problem but since the CAB that set-up my Swedish settings created another "network" of VodafoneMMS I seem to be able to communicate correctly.
Any help would be appreciated. It seems the settings are correct that I have (as numerous people are using them OK) but I cannot get the two to work corectly when both of them are installed.
Many thanks,
L.
I am afraid that if you use a .cab file to configure the settings it removes the previous settings which are already on the phone.
BUT! And this worked for me on an MDA PRO or MDA Vario. You can manually configure extra APNs and an extra MMS Server settings, and then just change which one is the default.
I am not sure it is possible on the QTEK, because since a couple of weeks ago I have both Sims on the same network...
Good luck

HTC Fuze in The United Kingdom, UK, Connection Issues, T-Mobile

I live in the UK and use T-Mobile as MY phones’ service and Data provider.
I have recently purchased a HTC P4600 aka The Fuze or Raph110
Unlocked but “at&t branded”.
friends has said that The Fuze is the American Equivalent version of the UK HTC touch Pro So as you know the Fuze has a USA Configuration. I don’t know that much about Opera Mobile but my guess is that it wont work in the UK. When I request to open a Opera Media page I get a Error Message HTTP gateway timed out etc. On my request T-Mobile Sent me an Automatic Configuration Text to my phone and eventually I Got connected - once connected I accessed Internet Explorer successfully so I knows the phones IE works in the UK. But now it don’t. I get a: “Cannot Connect Bubble” To change your connection settings tap Settings Settings and I do wonder why the Data settings have changed although I had put my T-Mobile sim card in another phone to test some functions I also Uninstalled the Built in “Proxy4CWS.cab” thing but when I read up a little about it I reinstalled it which helped a bit. I have also tried to connect and setup the built in Windows messenger But I get a Media Net Error message It seems as though Opera Media, Media Net, Messenger, Yahoo and IM needs the Media Net connections modem settings which seems to be hard fixed to a USA Configuration, they are not consulting the systems custom settings set by me the User;
which would be: T-Mobile Inter.

to help aid this diagnostic I had deleted all the other connections Modems Namely
Media Nets, AT&T ISP, My Work ISP, My ISP but when I customised The Media Net’s I had a better response from messenger but not a complete connection The phone is also turning the Data Connection off randomly which is probably a product of me trying to find my way around this problem. Please Note I do have a successful Connection using T-Mobiles 3G Network. The phones Email Connection wizard works so well and I receive my Emails as I should. Along with Syncing Outlook through Active Syn 4.5. That Function seems to request the protocols I need it to be requesting. Being that the phone is a World Phone “at&t branded” Im expecting that I can iron out the Issues here for successful use in the united kingdom

Hey, i'm in the uk also, while i haven't encountered your specific problem i'll share what i know! I have used a few different roms some that are designed for the AT&t network, alot have a cab which is "Remove Hidden Proxy" maybe is this hidden proxy stuffing you up? worth a look, I do as you have and edit the MEdia net connection for my network Vodafone, but the settings vodafone send me never work so i enter them in manually found on http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
I'm sure you've tried that, you could also try flashing a new Rom from here I am using RRE 5.8 RC2 and is Fast Stable and Reliable, it has everything Pre loaded exept Opera which is easy to find. Make sure you Hard SPL first though and follow Flashing your first Rom instructions for Rapheal,
Also just had a thought try a cab called Diamond Tweak in it you can enable /disable network connections and various other stuff that might be of help! i hope that helps some, let me know
just one extra thing you may be better posting this in Rapheal General as this part of the forum is for Rom development, I know its sort of a rom issue but you'll get a more positive response I think!! Safe.
hi there
im currently using a Raphael on the T-Mobile network, and as said by osrix25, removing the proxy tends to work.
also, why havent you flashed a custom rom yet?!!!! get flashing dude! any of the custom roms are miles better than the stock roms
search for 'connection wizard', its a program which does just that, sets up your connection for you after you select teh country and network!
good luck!
Hi,
I'm also on T-mobile (contract). Custom ROM - Cheers NRG
like previous posters, unchecking proxy works for me.
I get no problems with the settings you have in your post.
Maybe try another ROM?

ROM Issue with MMS Settings

Hi All,
Not a flaming thread at all this but I hope an informative one. I love the Energy ROM and the fact that I mention it here is not to say it is a bad ROM.
I have been battling with MMS settings on my HD2 for a long time. I have never managed to get it to work at all, whatever settings I tried.
The issue it seems was the ROM I was using, the Energy ROM is one in particular. Possibly more but I have had the problem for so long I can't remember what other ROMs gave me problems.
What I can say is that in desperation, ran out of ideas, I tried changing ROMs with the sole intention of testing MMS settings and there it was, I changed to the Artemis ROM and all was well, MMS settings worked.
I am going to do further tests to be 100% sure but one thing I have noticed was that with the Energy ROM I couldn't select 'celular Line (GPRS), it was always greyed out to 'Celular Line'. I think this might have been the problem but as I say some confirmation of that required.
Here are the O2 settings:

I hope this helps someone.

those data settings are for the mobile data connection, , , mms wont send over that data network. O2 require a wap data modem set up too, purely for mms to send over.
when connectionsetup runs at first boot with an o2 sim, it sets up two data accounts, 'mobile web' and 'o2 active'.
mobile web is for, well, mobile web, and runs at full data speed, and the o2 active account is what the mms server settings are pointed at, and connects to o2's wap server.
have a peek HERE for o2 active settings.
The thing that confused me for ages is that when you go to settings connections connections manage existing connections,, it only shows you the 'mobile web' account, until you go to 'advanced - select networks' and change the top dropdown to 'o2 active', when you can then view/edit that account.
dont forget to change that top dropdown back to mobile web, cos if you leave it set to o2 active (like i did today) it uses the wap server for all your data, which isn't as fast as the mobile web server.

I got confused for a while and spent ages trying to work it out. If you go Settings>Connections>Connections, under here you should find two titled sections, Proxy Internet and My Work Network.
What I have is under:
- Proxy Internet>Manage existing connections: contains the mobile web settings
-My Work Network>Manage existing connections: contains the o2 active settings using wap server.
One other thing to check is go to the Sense Message tab and go: All Messages>Menu>Setting>Options>Menu>MMS Server select the o2 MMS (might be named differently depending on ROM). You'll find a list of server details, don't need to touch these, the only thing to check is "Connect via" option and make sure it points to My Work Network. This will pick up the correct wap settings.
Just thought I'd offer my findings.

Just in case someone follows this link and gets confused, the settings in it are for contract, not pre-pay.
Pre-pay:
APN - payandgo.o2.co.uk
Username - payandgo
Password - password
Proxy Tab - 'This network connects to the internet' should be ticked. That's all. No further details are necessary.
What NRG rom are you using? To avoid having to enter anything manually, after flashing one of NRG's rom, when the phone automatically configure network with O2 SIM at first boot, simply select prepay or contract (postpay?) as appropriate. Soft reset. After phone reboots, hit Start, go into Settings, Connections, Connections, then on the Task tab tap ' Automatically configure connection'. Allow it to do its thing, then soft reset. I haven't had to manually enter data or MMS settings for my O2 prepay sim in an NRG rom for a long time : )

[Q] Intermittent data problem

I am using the Lumia 800 on Talkmobile (UK). I have a problem whereby the ability to use the data connection fails intermittently. There is no signal drop - it still has a data connection - I just cannot use the internet, and stop receiving emails etc... Restarting the phone or turning Flight mode on/off will bring back data. I have noticed that it happens when the data connection moves from H/3G to E/G and then back. I am not sure yet if this is the only time it happens. Sometimes I only notice when I haven't received an email for a while... and then realise that the internet isn't working despite an apparent data signal...
Any thoughts/help greatly appreciated - many thanks!!
I had that problem with firmware 11500. It happened about 1 time every day or every other day for a while. Then I fiddled with cellular options (switching data on/off did not help, needed reboot) and ran network setup again and it went away till I updated to 12070 and it has never happened again on this new firmware so far.
I had this problem and found out that it was because I had manually put my APN settings.
Later when Nokia released their Networp Setup app in the marketplace, I had to delete my APN settings>reboot>then install this app and let it do its work of finding my provider and automatically configuring APN.
I have not had problem from then.

I had that problem WITHOUT an added APN. So I re-added APN among with running Network Setup a second time and then the issue didn't come back for me. I have manual APN added now as well as the Network Setup app and on this new 12070 firmware my data connection has not dropped a single time yet in soon a week.
Actually it's the bands I think
I've had the same exact issue as you, in fact some from the offical Nokia discussion have also asked about this.
If you have a UK phone, and if you're using it else where, like say the US, I think the missing 850 band is causing this. If not, I think it's probably just due to poor signal in your area as well.
I noticed that this Nokia phone unlike all my others, has issues trying to jump from the different frequencies. Like Edge to 3g to HSPDA.
I noticed that if I switched to edge in the settings, I can maintain the data signal much better and much more consistent, sometimes you have to turn data on and off to get it to work though.
I'm using mine in NYC so you can only imagine what kind of service I get with AT&T, but the edge method works.
Also instead of constantly turning your phone on and off (bad for battery life) You can simply just go into settings for network and turn data on and off and this will fix the issue as well.
Hope this helps

I was never able to get internet working through the Network settings app. it had my network there, but the internet didn't work after selecting it. The only way that I have managed to get internet to work is by editing the APN within the Diagnostics app. editing the APN within regular Settings doesn't work for me either...
I didn't have your exact problem, but some of the stock apps (maps, bing search, skydrive) were not working over a 3G connection (worked fine over wi-fi, and other apps worked fine over 3G). I think it has something to do with Nokia Network Setup thinking I'm on AT&T when I'm actually on Straight Talk (an MVNO that uses AT&T's network). What fixed it was removing the proxy entry in my APN settings.
Interesting - I am on Talk Mobile which uses Vodafone's network. I will try deleting the proxy.
