Folks,
does anyone know a cradle or docking station with built-in speaker that can be used with the Touch HD?
I really like my Touch HD, but I'm green with envy any time I see the plenty and great audio accessories for the iPhone. Things could be so easy - plug the device in and enjoy your music. But alas, the market for audio accessories seems to have waned since the times of the older devices (1, 2 etc.).
I've seen some all-round portable speakers, but most of them are crappy both in build and audio quality. What I'm looking for is a proper speaker system to enjoy music in the living room or kitchen, ideally tailor-made for the HD. Hardware audio controls would be ideal, but with the simple 3.5mm plug, that is not to be ...
Ideas, anyone?
Ta,
N.
i've also searched for something like that... and i coulden't find anything...
at the end i got the following bluetooth speaker
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/mbs-100?lc=en&cc=gb
and i can say i'm loving it...the sound is great for such a small speaker and it can go for about 8 hours without being charged...
my only wish now is that a buy a never model that features 2 speakers

hope it help..
if you find some docking-speaker system for the HD, please post it...
qtype,
thanks for the suggestions!
It's some consolation that I'm not the only one missing an accessory like that. I'm specifically looking for a docking station/cradle with speaker because I'd like to use it on my nightstand - alarm clock, music player and charger all-in-one. So no luck yet ...
As for bluetooth speakers, I've used the good old Saitek A-250 and recently the Parrot Party, and the sound is quite okay with both - possibly even a bit better with the Saitek, but that's not so portable and robust. So the Saitek is good for the kitchen or the bedroom, while you can take the Parrot with you. With a bit more bulk than your SE.
Anyway - maybe something will come up.
Cheers,
N.
I was searching for cradle to chg phone & extra battery, found 1 on ebay, but I did run across what your looking for. don't remember where but it was there. Quig

Well, it's about X-Mas time, and I've made a few changes to my phones. Namely, I no longer have my second line, and my Wizard is seeing alot more use. As such, I'd like to get a few accesories for it. The big things I'm looking for:
1. 4GB memory card - bidding on one on EBay, will let you all know if the brand I buy works for the big thread.
2. A2DP wireless headphones. Would really like something to listen to when I run / work out. I saw a plantronics set with a slide-out microphone that looked decent, but I have a big head (size 8 and some change, no joke) so some of the hard-band headphones bug me a little. I was looking for something with just a wire in the back, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
3. A2DP capable USB Bluetooth adapter. I'd like to be able to use my headset with my PC for gaming / listening to tunes when my room mate's sleeping. The smaller, the better.
4. Bluetooth Capable car audio solution, ideally via FM modulator. All my best tunes are on my Wizard, and I'd like to just tune my radio and them use my phone to play songs.
Any advice is appreciated. Also, I'm looking at possibly upgrading to a new HTC Pocket PC around April for a birthday gift. Anyone know of any cool models out there now or otherwise planned?
Thanks.
Hi there.
I am currently looking for some bluetooth headphones (not a single headset) to use with my HD. Anybody have any advice and/or experience?
Thanks!
(I'm in the UK, so ideally from UK shops!)
I did find these. No idea what they are like though:

Anybody...?
Hi,
I have been using HBH-DS980 with polaris and now with HD. Sound quality is better comapred to polaris (comparison without tweaking bt settings). Adressbook and call history works also you can see the number/name of the caller.
Music quality is quite good. AVRC is working as expected. The volume keys do not change system volume for music but I noticed that when in call, if you adjust volume from this device, phone volume is also updated.
Hope this helps.
try....
the stereo headphone, handsfree - motorola S9 - was 29 quid - i ordered then before 11am, had them by 11am next day....

They do look well/compact if you get me
Any one tried the Sony Ericsson headsets? Not particualy on the HD, Just in general.

I am also looking forward to buy the HBH-IS800! Some user reviews would be nice. But wont these BT earphones be available until the beginning of december?

Heres one review I found, though not user
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/11/07/review_bluetooth_headphones_sony_ericsson_hbh_is800/
I bought some HBH-IS800 bluetooth earphones.
I haven't used them extensively yet, but one thing's for sure - they are just as dinky and slick as you expect them to be
Sound seems okay - not as good as the wired in-ear Sony ones (MR71 I think) I have been using, but easily good enough for commuting, gym etc.
Can't comment on battery life yet, but paitring is easy, and they are comfortable in the ear, despite being slightly larger than the wired type.
All in all, you could prolly get much better phones for the money (I paid £78 from mobilefun.co.uk), but for convenience, discretion and sheer smugness they're worth it in my book.
Cheers
Pete
my headsets
I use
Motorola H700 as headset and
Motorola S9 as headphone
both work fine with my HD. But I can't compare them as I only own this two parts. But I use them for almost one year and I'm very satisfied.
Best regards Wolf_munich
The HBH-IS800 surely look great. Exactly what I've been waiting for. BUT 4 hours of use is just too short...
I use this one, the sound is good
Motorola S805
Hi there
i have used two different stereo headsets with my athena- both generally crap.
Both of mine were the caller id type with controls.
1. sony HBH-DS970 crap sound- decent BT connection- voice quality (ie volume) ok after reg hack- caller id unable to display name, shows numbers only- track id cant show name- audio not loud enough, never found hack for this- ****e in ear buds- special sony charger- in ear padding falls off and gets lost for ever
2 decided I wanted to be able to use my B&O earphones so I got a ax bluestream from tritton- your own headphones plug in to the clip on BT unit- audio quality good but still too quiet- controls not intuitive- OLED- BT interference in calls is high when walking away from the phone- buggy software- no caller name or song name, just phone number. Better than the sony unit- mini usb charging
Overall my biggest problem was the lack of volume- managed to reg hack the outgoing and incoming phone audio but not the music level.
Overall i prefered the tritton option as i could use my own headphones with the buit in mic- cost more than the sony though
Battery life on the sony required me to carry the charger everwhere- especially given that the atena doesn't support calls without a headset
Hi,
Just the topic I was looking for.
I have finally come down to 3 choices:
1. Sony HBH DS200
2. Motorola S9 - Stylish. Not sure on quality
3. Sony DR-BT21G - Looks stylish as well. But crosses 40 bucks. But can purchase if there is significant difference
someone, pls compare these if possible keeping in mind the price and quality...
I was looking to purchase one for 30 quids
someone pls help me decide..
I am looking for a bluetooth headset which will allow me to listen to music on my Touch HD in the car (podcasts) but also allow me to take calls if need be without swapping headsets.
I have looked at the 3 above and none seem to do that.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
The S9s should, I suppose it depends what profiles your car setup supports.
I use my S9s to listen to music vids on my laptop and I can take/make calls via my HD using the buttons on the headset.
Set the partnership on the HD to "hands free" and laptop services to "audio sink".
Be aware that the telephony audio is from one channel only. The left ear.
edit: Sorry, I misread your post.
However, the S9s will allow you to do what you ask. When listening to audio an incommimg call will pause the audio and switch to hands free telephony.
Here is the .pdf manual.

To all the HBH IS800 owner, please can you read my post and give me a feed back before it will be too late to return it to Expansys?
THX SO MUCH!
i use jabra 620s, i used it with my ipaq 210 , however, i sold 210 to get some money for my HD. and jabra 620s is only about 50 usd, but i compared with my UE fi 4, UE fi 4 actully is not that much better than my jabra 620s with HD~ so, 50 usd jabra 620s is a not bad choice goes with HD. the vol adjust, forward, and back, answer button, start/pouse button all work with HD~
Upgrade off motorola s9...s9-hd i'm going for this

Guys,
I'm currently trying to find a decent 'Desktop Speaker System with Remote Controller' to use with my HTC Touch HD Blackstone.
Have any of you come across a suitable system I could use.
My preference is the UK market as that is where I would be purchasing from.
Thanks in advance.

A2DP speakers
Hi Beards,
erm I'm not sure, but do you mean some speakers that are similar to an Iphone/Ipod dock? Just some speakers that will play the music off your HD? I could be way off but if this is the case then I think me and you both are after the same thing. I can't find any systems that act as a HTC dock and speakers but after a lot of research I think I found a solution. That solution is to use A2DP bluetooth speakers. That way your HD itself acts as the remote (as you can walk around with your phone within a 10m radius of the speakers and change the volume/track off there, although some come with remote too). In this respect I think it is a lot better than an Ipod dock. I was considering getting some A2DP speakers that sit on the shelf in my bedroom, then simply getting a docking cradle to the HD to sit next to my bed - that way I can play music and charge my mobile at the same time.
If it is what you are after (btw these A2DP speakers can also play music from your PC) then there is a list of currently available models here:
http://www.a2dp.info/A2DP-Devices/A2DP-Speakers.html
I am currently thinking of getting the Parrot boombox, the gear4 blackbox or the AE system. I will post results if and when I get one.
I hope this is what you meant and hope it helps.

EXACTLY what I am looking for...... Well done.
I'm a bit tied up at the moment doing another awful lot of surgical operations.
If you go ahead can you keep me abreast of how things are developing (any other ideas, pricing, etc.).
Hi!
Hope you guys can help me.
I´m going out travelling next month and now i´m looking for some good travelling speakers for my Rhodium. I´ve been looking around, but the most i found are made for iPhone.
So now I´m asking if someone knows if it exists similiar for HTC?
And not the tiny ones with crappy sound?
Blutooth, usb, 3,5mm? Come with suggestions, please.
(Sorry for bad english)
[Edit]Someone tried the Altec Lansing inMotion IM4?
You CAN get an adaptor lead from the micro USB to 3.5mm stereo, that should widen your options considerably
FWIW I picked up one at a local accessories stand in my local shopping centre yesterday which cost me less than five quid, and works well. You can't use the call button on the adaptor (not a dedicated HTC converter), but it still has the correct pinout for audio in and out.
If your local mobile phone accessory shops can't help, there's always online sources...
Here's a handy google search that highlights this for you
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=htc+USB+to+3.5mm+stereo&btnG=Search&meta=
Bluetooth! Simply the best ... ive got this one and works perfect ! Works on 3.5mm plug or bluetooth. Inside battery and good sound! http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/mbs-100?cc=US&lc=en
try the x-mini speakers
super small yet very good sound
award-winning product
Thanks for your anwers but I went for the usb to 3,5mm plug and a pair of computer speakers. It will probably give me better sound than the tiny ones.
A late echo...

I know I'm (very) late to the party... -- but, for anyone else finding this thread, I have to agree.
I'm technically deaf; & yet these little critters (combined with my hearing aids -- & for those times when I'm not on my own: & therefore Bluetoothing(!?) the music straight to my aids...) belt out more than enough well-defined sound to entertain me -- ...& for all types of music.
They're extremely portable, as well: clipping together; & coming with their own carrying 'pouch', & all necessary cables.
NB: Get the pair, though... -- I'm not convinced that one would sound half as good on its own. [It'd be lonely, as well....]
I've been very happy with http://www.alteclansing.com/index.php?file=north_product_detail&iproduct_id=t515
You can pick up a pair on ebay for about $100.
In my bmw, I have a cable that I used to plug my iPhone in and was able to charge/play my music thru the interface. Since I switched over to SGS2 (love it btw), I haven't been able to find a suitable replacement for this cable. Is there anything like this for the SGS2, or am I out of luck?
Thanks

I use the car dock that is made for the phone by Samsung.
Best Solution:
Get a new car. My 2010 Mazda M3 has Bluetooth in it so all I had to do is buy a new car charger and connected it to Bluetooth. That's for your best experience though.
Less than the best solution:
Buy a Samsung Car dock, hope you have an AUX port or get an FM transmitter! It's a lot of work to have this done right, clean and everything. But it works! You can find most of the parts on amazon for really cheap. But i hope your car stereo has an Aux port or Bluetooth cuz if not you are kinda gonna be screwed into buying a new one. I don't know of any that support connecting through usb on any other phone than the iPhone or a standard flash drive with just MP3s on it.
Yea, my car has an AUX port, so I will just go buy the dock. Thanks for all your help
Hopefully another item like this takes off. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/401662159/pair-with-pear-bluetooth-to-your-speakers-dock Not trying to advertise, but this looks like it's exactly what you need. Unfortunately it doesn't exist yet... Unless another company makes one that I don't know about.
I highly recommend the Bluetooth Gateway by Motorola that turns your aux-in into an A2DP stereo like these fancy new cars.
A brief guide in the beginning of a little review I wrote here.
Takes a little DIY to get it set up out of the way, but once you do, it's a fantastic, under-$50 solution to get A2DP like the new $20k cars
Bt-35 bfhak
Has anyone used either of these devices: BT-35 or BFHAK
They have them for different makes of cars. just wanting to know how well they work.
I have a Jeep with the bluetooth touchscreen. I just play mine through BT, even though the sound quality isnt the greatest.

I have the same, wonder why the quality suks
I just use a simple cable from my headphone jack to my aux in jack. I do wish it was able to display stuff like track info and album art, but hey, first world problems I guess. Poweramp does the job.
I think it's because bt audio only streams at 96 kbs.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
I don't know why you're having problems, but my bluetooth audio sounds heavenly using the gateway that I referenced in my earlier post.
And by the way, this 2003 spec sheet lists a top bit rate of 345 kb/s on Bluetooth 1.0. I don't know where you got your number.
BT streaming is worse than wired because you've got your phone/player transceiver encoding, and then the external receiver decoding your music. You can have all the bandwidth in the world but you'd still be limited by the quality of your transmitting and receiving hardware's digital audio capabilities.
I have one of these, it works very well. I've used FM tuners before and they all come in static-y. This one comes in perfectly, can charge your phone, has audio IN, and can be used as a hands free phone. Pretty nifty.
