Hi all:
I've done extensive searches regarding this issue and have yet to find the same issue I'm having. I've recently began having issues with my hardware keyboard on my FUZE adding extra spaces when typing. I would hit the space bar at normal speed and extra spaces would be added as I'm typing. I wonder if this is a hardware or software issue and if anyone has had similar issues and what they've done to resolve it. My FUZE is about 6-months old and I use the HW keyboard quite a bit for texting/e-mails so I need the HW keyboard functional. I'm still under warranty but would rather not have to deal with AT&T customer service. Thanks everyone!!!

You know, it's funny. I had a much longer response typed initially, but XDA was giving me trouble, so after typing it 3 times, I went with a more brief response.
Apparently (as discussed in the Kitchen thread), there's an issue with the input driver of the 21812 build ROM. I'm not sure if that's the build NRG was using on 6/13, but it's very possible. So, Da_G has included the CompIME.dll from a working build (in this case, 21731) in the kitchen to correct the error, which was isolated in that thread by pyrorob. So, I cabbed up the driver for my personal use with the newer ROM build (21815) in case this was still an issue. Since I just had it hanging out on my SD card, I figured I'd share it.
So, to answer your question, the cab just replaces your existing CompIME.dll with the one from the 21731 build. Hopefully this will correct your problem.

Thank you. I'm giving it a try and will report back. I hope this is the fix for me. I'll keep the cab on hand as well. Again, thank you.
Edit* I checked the version and NRG is using Build 21812.5.0.50 so that may have been the issue in my case.
Edit** I'm still seeing the same problem. I'm going to try a reflash of the stock FUZE and go from there when I get more time this evening. When flashing to a different/Stock ROM, do all the device drivers get update or just what the Chefs feel are necessary?

For custom ROMs, it is possible that the chef may change some of the drivers in the OEM/SYS folder. Try a different custom ROM (even a different build number) to confirm that the problem is specific the NGR 21812.5.0.50 build.
For stock ROMs, the content will be what was released by the Manufacturer (HTC/AT&T). If the problem occurs with a stock ROM, I would be inclined to suspect faulty hardware.

hi there, i got the same problem as well, and i think it's worse than yours, mine sometimes even appear the full stop symbol after i typed the spacebar button from my HW keyboard, and i am also using EnergyRom as well... try flashing other Roms and see whether the problem exist or not, because i think i din find a problem in other roms... but i am still sticking with EnergyRom as i think i got some idea not letting it shows that often now...
i have the opposite problem my spacebar is now not putting spaces when it should. i have to make sure i focus on the button press, just started happening this month and ive had it since november
I had the problem several times, I restored back to AT&T ROM and Radio, and did an XBM on it.
Its a hardware problem. The Space and delete key can get hard to press, and when they do press, it does it multiple times.

I have a Touch Pro which I bought in October and the space bar on my keyboard started playing up too. It would miss spaces when i was typing away and sometimes would insert extra spaces. It was driving me mad. I took it back and had the keyboard replaced under warranty and it has been perfect since.

I still have the same issue even with the original shipped ROM. I'm going to say this is a hardware issue and prep my device for warranty return/repair. This would be my first time using a warranty return/repair. How long does it take through AT&T and will I be out of a phone for a while?

First thing's first - make sure you return the phone to stock specs (including stock SPL) prior to returning.
The way the warranty exchange works is, you keep your phone, they send you a new (refurb) unit while you still have your existing phone, and when you get the new one, you put the SIM card in it, and use the packaging to send the old one back. That way, you're not out of a phone at all. I got mine the next day. Its a good system.

I have reflashed HardSPL and the same NRG WM6.5 6/13 ROM. I can verify that it is not a ROM/Driver issue since my device is working fine. This is a hardware failure and needs a replacement device. Thank you for everyone's input and helping me to find some sort of resolution to this isue.

hey all! i'm currently waiting for my 3125 to make it to my doorstep (it shall be my backup until i get my 8125 apart and determine which lcd screen i need to buy to fix it -- don't let truck tailgates come down on your lcd screen, you'll get angry...)
so, what roms are doing what for people?
so far, i've been able to dig up scattered around the net (which is funny, considering the m$ note on the ftp about no devices on the market have wm5 offered, so its proprietary now, take down and destroy....):
ruu_star100_1.02.251.1_qtekeur_ship_r2.exe (think its the buggy one, missed calls and all that)
ruu_star100_2.4.502.0_02.45.30_cws_ship.exe (htc support's current (illegal?) offering for the cingular/at&t customers)
ruu_star100_3.6.251.0_02.67.30_qtekeur_ship.exe...
I'm sort of in the same situation as I have a 3125 on the way to replace my 8125...
I'm going to use the "RUU_STAR100_3.6.251.0_02.67.30_QtekEUR_Ship" ROM as it seems to be the latest available and I was able to pull it off the FTP last week.
I'd still be interested to know what everybody else is running though
i'm also using the "RUU_STAR100_3.6.251.0_02.67.30_QtekEUR_Ship" ROM and don't have any problem, stability, not too slow...
yeah im using the Qtek8500 ROm RUU_STAR100_3.6.251.0_02.67.30_QtekEUR_Ship
On my Cingular 3215.
This is the only clam shell WM5 device in the world yet it gets no love. No one doing new ROMS or anything. I have the HTC Wizard and I swear they come out with new ROM every week, sometimes more expecially with the whole WM6 ROms.
hmmm. i've been scanning through both xda and spv forums to figure out the best way to go about cooking up a rom. christ, xda is a mess to look through, but so far i think maimach's tools may do the trick. at least the thread seems to give hope :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294489
as to how to pull the nk.nbf or nb out of the rom.exe, i'm retarded (extract it with winrar someone said... ), this thread could work too...- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=238945
i've been looking into this for a few days, and my head is starting to hurt (should go medicate...)
anyone else have any suggestions as to how to go about?

Well, the app unlock went fine and the 'RUU_STAR100_3.6.251.0...' ROM went on without any probs (didn't bother to SIM unlock as I'm a Cingy customer anyway)
Would love to get my hands on a copy of ClearVue though as this ROM doesn't seem to have it and the Cingular one did.
Anybody??
BTW, love this phone!
I've answered my own question.... plenty of apps here, including ClearVue and some other cool stuff:

Thanks a bunch donshula, I am downloading it right now.
So, what are the differences between the 3.6.251.0_02.67.30 and the 2.4.502.0_02.45.30 one? And why are so many people using the 3.6.251.0_02.67.30 one instead?
I've got the 2.4.502.0_02.45.30 as from Cingular and can't say I've had problems...
Would installing the 3.6.251.0_02.67.30 one cause issues because it has some different hardware?

No probs, I have the Cingular base ROM as well if you ever need to go back to it.
thelostsoul - I wouldn't be able to tell you the differences between the ROM's but generally, the newer the ROM, the more bug fixes and better stability is my guess. I do it anyway because I love to fiddle !
A downside of the non-carrier ROM's is that they don't always have the same software; 3.6 doesn't have XpressMail and the ClearVue suite for example.
Oh and no issues putting the 3.6 ROM on a Cingy 3125. They share the same base hardware components from what I understand. A few of us have done it without issue (if you follow the instructions properly) and the 3125's actually have more ROM than the Qtek 8500 so no worries on space.
how come I am getting invalid vender error when I am trying to install that firmware? I ran surreal networks app utility and rebooted.
Doesn't sound like you went through the full application unlock process. I followed the guide in this post to the letter (#2) and it worked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=292936
One thing I found was that when doing the regedits in step 1, your initial registry entries might not be the same as his - doesn't matter, just make sure you change them to the values damird lists.
Also for step 3, the file you want to download is the one at this link:
http://nah6.com/~itsme/download/itsutils.zip
- get one of the later ones and you have to start adding arguements to the pdocread command.
Hope this helps
thanks! it worked and now I am running the Qtek Rom which seems less buggy and a little more responsive. Have not experienced the missed call problem either. Now all I need is some good software to fine tune this puppy! maybe some good ring tones!!!!

I am sure they need to figure out how to unlock the phone first. Thats still in development for our phones. Once that is done I am more than sure somone will have it unlocked shortly after. Just keep checking the threads and we will see an announcement by someone. I am even sure we will see more than one thread on it.
How about Skywing's
I don't have a TP to try this on yet. Been watching this forum in anticipation of moving up (?) from a xv6800.
Has anyone tried Skywing's hack to see if it works on a TP? In one of his posts, Skywing stated that he didn't see why his hack wouldn't work on any stock Verizon 6.1 install.
Just a thought . . .
The posted bits will not work on the xv6850 due to some timing differences with how the GPS driver initialization works. There is no value in using those bits on the xv6850.
The posted bits were stated to work with the xv6800 and not any Verizon device with WM6.1. Some people have claimed success with the xv6900, but I cannot speak to any possible success or failure with that device. They will not work on the xv6850.
I already tried to install Skywings fix and as soon as I click Use GPS in Google maps, it locks the phone beyond recovery.

I installed Skywings Vallhala cab. it opened up or unlocked the GPS so it was discoverable by OnCourse navigator 8 but wouldn't actually work or find satellites. It didn't lock up my device or do any harm whatsoever. I guess I'll stick to my bluetooth receiver for the time being....
yeah my phone froze up too when i tried using GPS in google maps after installing vallhala.cab. i think it's gonna need a little something more than just using the same hack for the xv6800. i really hope someone is in the process of development.
From what I understand its just figuring out how to unlock the unit then after that its easy to do whatever you want

No, not quite. Hait to burst everyone's buble but its not quite that simple. The phone has been unlocked just not released to us. They have GPS up and running but only with VZNav. They are trying to work with GC for a GPS solution.
I can thoerize that this will only work with a fix from Valhalla.
It has alot to do with how the PRI's are preset. To make a long story short they have sort of proved this by flashing a new radio from sprint and it still wasnt "unlocked" Same thing wiht the titan would happen after MR1. The only thing that could revert the PRI back was a revert to a non GPS radio. Then back up to a GPS radio with a standard PRI instead of the VZ locked. From there you were good.
Well there is no pre-gps radio to revert back to for the Raph. Thats why I feel we will end up going an emulation route. The drivers are differnt than that titan which is why all of our phones crashed with his fix. Or most anyways. We need him to create a utility for us until someone figured out how to "cure" the PRi issue.
I may not have used the exact correct terminology in this post. Im more of a ROM guy than a GPS / Radio guy but this is how I understand it. Someone correct me please if I am wrong. And I deperately hope I am wrong on this one (Although I had no doubt in my mind when the phone was introduced this was to be the case. They were basically beta testing the GPS system with the Titan and Vogue. Sit back and think about).

Been running boreds fix for nearly 24 hours and I am GOLDEN!
Try his fix on my VZ NAv ROM 1.0 and you will not be disapointed ;c)
Ever since I flashed 21820 my keypad has been nuts. I am trying to figure out if I have a hardware or software problem.
I flashed 2 or 3 different 21820 ROMS all with the same results. My problem is as follows:
The buttons intermittently do not work or have the wrong function. For example, the send key does not work at all, then it works. I press the home key and it launches a call. Then all buttons are dead. Then it works fine for several hours or even an entire day.
I have tried flashing back to previous ROMS and I even flashed back to a factory ROM all with the same intermittent results. I can put the phone on my desk and not touch anything but the keys. Sometimes it works sometime not. Because nothing is moving, it seems hard to imagine a wiring short.
Any advice is welcome. Being a cheapo, I skipped the ATT phone insurance so I may have to pay for a repair if necessary.
Thanks for any help.

Sort of. They are having trouble with the keyboard. My problem is only with the front buttons: Home, Back, Send, End.
I read some of these posts before, but my keyboard seems to be working fine, so I did not pay much attention to them.
Hopefully I can fix this somehow. I hate to think about a repair bill or a replacement.
Doug M.
I just read your original post again and now realize what you were referring to the pad not keyboard ... my bad.
Assumed you've done a quick search through your kitchen on the off-chance that another keypad DLL didn't manage to sneak in somehow.
Captain_Throwback put out a post a while back for warranty replacement - not sure if it's AT&T specific or general HTC, but he had fairly good success. If you haven't the device for a long time, it may be possible to get it serviced via warranty.
Sorry, I know it's not much help but from the sounds of it, it may be hardware related since you've done all the typical troubleshooting steps.
Cheers,

You think too much of me. I am no chef, I simply enjoy the work of other talents on this forum. I have tried several different ROMS;Energy, Timolol, DaG new, old etc... all with the same results.
I also just tried a shot of compressed air and a healthy dose of WD-40 on the keypad as I pried the edge up slightly. So far it seems to be working. Hopefully it will hold. These intermittent issues are a pain to troubleshoot.
Thanks for your help.

Careful with the WD-40. don't get the moisture sensitive patch near the battery wet. If you had the phone for less than a year old, it's under the manufacturer's warranty that AT&T will honor. As long as you can show the phone wasn't abused (make sure to flash original ROM and SPL) and the phone still has those issues, then they will replace it with no cost to you. I had a problem with the main keyboard, flashed the shipped ROM and SPL and they didn't give me any heartache/headaches... Especially since you've proven that it's hardware with the prying and WD-40

Thanks for the tip. I had not thought about that patch, but it seems dry for now. So far the WD-40 is still working. Maybe I have solved this issue.
Generally I love it when things break. It is a great chance to upgrade without the need for too much explaination at home. For now however, there is no device that I would reather have. When the TP2 makes to to the states however, my phone may have an "accident"...

I have a Cingular 3125 I just bought to tide me by, since my 8525 took a dump, and would like to upgrade to WM6.1. I ran the application unlock program and went through the supercid process, but is there a way to check if the process/application was successful? I didn't receive any alert saying such. BTW: I'm using a PC with Vista Home Premium.
What is the most stable WM6.1 ROM available for this phone? I know there have been bluetooth issues with some, which I can't have, since I use my phone a lot while driving (work related).
Also, I'm really not put off too much by the WM5 OS, but I'd really like to have the threaded SMS back. Is there a stand alone application that would allow me to add this to WM5 (if I end up keeping it)?

I'm surprised there hasn't been any reply to your post in the months since . . .
Yes, there is a little program you can run to verify application unlock - I can't remember the name of it or find it ATM.
Yes, there is a threaded texting program, called Extreme Text - works very well. http://www.birdsoft.biz/extremetext.htm
Thanks for the response, but I'm pretty sick of this phone already. I haven't upgraded the OS to 6.1, but I can't see it being much better than it is. Wish my 8525 didn't chew through batteries like it does!

Well, I think the StarTrek is a good second phone, 6.1 does make a big difference IMHO so maybe just give it a try. . . I'm very happy with Erofich's 6.1
Well, I guess I could give it a try.
I've flashed my 8525 several times and that was very easy. Sounds like this 3125 is a bit of a pain to flash. Would you mind clarifying the steps and recommending a 6.1 ROM?

I followed the steps in the first and third stickies: Application Unlock first, then CID Unlock. Particularly I followed the clear advice in post #12 of that thread:

Here's an amusing aside, RE: the build quality of this phone. I had loaned mine to my daughter's boyfriend, he set it on a table and lay down to take a nap. He heard it vibrating and ringing as a call came in, looked up and saw it vibrate itself right off the table and fall toward the floor. But at the exact spot it fell, there happened to be a glass full of water stationed - the phone fell kerplunk! right into the glass of water. He grabbed it out, pulled out the battery and SIM card, dried it the best he could, let it sit a couple hours, then reassembled. It works perfectly!
I have Erofich's 6.1 installed on that phone, this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374397
But I think I'm going to give DJ's 6.5.3 a try soon.
Good luck!
Well, I've got to say "you were right." I flashed my phone with WM6.1 and it made a world of difference. I'd be interested in checking out the WM6.5, but I haven't been able to find a version that'll run on this phone. You mentioned something about DJ's version; where might I find that?
BTW: Thanks for your input on this thread.

Glad I could help. I've been away for awhile, it's good to be back.
Yeah, that 6.5 looks like not yet ready for prime time.
I have an ATT Titan on firmware 7720
Does any custom firmware fix the call quality issue?
A lot of at&t users have had issues in the past with call quality on their Titans, And I am sure it did get better with updates, It is always best to update to the latest version of the OS, This could either be 8107 or 8112, The 7720 build is quite an old release, If you still have no joy after updating it could be a poor reception issue in your area, Check the gold connectors are making full contact on the rear housing, try not to break them as they are fragile, If all else fails then take the handset back for a replacement, Hope you do get it sorted.
I'm on my 4th Titan from warranty swap over this issue. All of them have the problem (if you ask me). It has been discussed all over the web and here on XDA lots of times.
Here they discuss it with a few suggestions:

Here is where I found my solution that actually works:

Good luck. And if you haven't already filled your Titan's memory up, Back it up and fill the memory up with songs, pics or video and see what happens! Mine freaks out and causes a Hard Reset! HTC really hit a home run with this POS!

Thanks for your reply. I've already used a tape to mute the top mic. But it is only a temporary solution.
Has ATT released any firmware update? Mine is still on 7720.

I am using an ATT titan. But ATT has not released any official update since 7720. To update to 8112 or higher, must I debrand it? I read some threads from this forum. If I understand correctly, I must use either a Y cable or something called gold card to debrand it and then flash custom firmware?
Thanks
AT&T has not released anything and they have no plans of doing so either. Don't wait for them to do anything.
I have attached a force update cab (with language packs) that will update your US AT&T Titan to at least the latest MANGO 8107.

You don't need to use gold card or Y cable. Use cab sender to update to latest stock rom version 8107. Previous post has the cab package needed to update ur phone. If you are looking at non-stock custom rom then yes I would recommend to debrand to euro version rom using Y cable. See related thread on this topic

Hope this helps.
