How on earth are we meant to tell you what rom is the best?
Faria's and xplore rate highly, molski is also up there, at the moment im investigating mfrazzz's rom. It is a matter of personal preference, there is no definitive best rom because all wizard owners are recycling the same poo.
Im not flaming you but it would be nice if you pulled your socks up before you thought about posting a question such as this again.

1. Decide what programs you really want to use.
2. Decide what programs you really don't want to have.
3. Decide which base OS you want to run - stable or bleeding edge.
4. Pick the ROM's that are a close match to your choices in #1 & #2.
5. Read the entire posts for those ROMs, and decide from user feedback on which to use.
6. Try a few, get a feel for what works best for you. No rom is right for any one person. It just depends on what kind of base you want, and how much customization you want to do.
Best bet is to stick to the high profile roms, such as Faria's, Xplore, Crossbow Reloaded, etc... while you're checking things out. Test, test, test...
Then when you're ready, build your own
Is there a (mostly) complete list of released ROMs anywhere?
I'm having trouble learning what is the latest WM6 version is, seeing as some ROMs have a v10.2.xxx and some a 15.x.xxx and others a 6.2.xx. What on Earth do these version numbers mean?
Is there a thread I simply haven't found which explains this?

What features do you like?
What do you use your phone for?
What do YOU like?
No one can answer this question for you. You need to research each ROM and see if it has the features that you like. If you want to know what others are using then look at their signatures and you will see what they like. But that of course is no indication whatsoever that you will like it too.
All of the dedicated cookers on this site do outstanding work and each has their own style. There is no "best" ROM, they are all top notch in their own respects. Try them out, use them for a few days, see if they meet your needs.

I haven't looked at the Wizard WIKI lately because most of my focus has been on my Hermes of late. But at least for the Hermes there is a page that lists all available roms with links to the release threads and to the download sites and mirrors. If there isn't something like this for the Wizard you could always start this yourself with the information that you research and hopefully others will contribute and keep it going.
Hi there!
I need a working ROM for my HTC Touch Pro.
I found one (hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470164) but that one was posted in 2007 so the download file is long gone from the internet! It was a ROM with a Stock market tab in FT3D.
I've read the rules and the Wiki but still I can't find what I'm looking for on this forum because of the many ROM's people have made! Don't get me wrong: I think that's great but I need help locating the right manilla that can be downloaded! Or point me in the direction were to look!
Thanks for your help! and greetingz from Holland
Mike
Er...
Well the latest is Manila 2.5 or sense 2.5 w/e you want to call it.
Most of the roms offer one or the other.
perrsonally i recommend energy rom... they're wonderful.
Leo version is slow but pretty
Pheonix two is strong.

Oké! Thanks for your replay. I've read somewere that manilla 2.6 is still in beta?
I know (from the wiki) that I have a HTC "Raphael" (touch pro...duh! ) but I see a lot of ROM's for the Diamond and pro 2 aswell! Do they all work fine on the Touch pro to? As a newbie I don't know were to look for when I'm looking for a ROM.
Can I create a ROM of my one? What need I to do that? I know my way around Paint Shop Pro but not around programming like in C++.
Manila (aka SenseUI)
Newer versions of Manila may require that you use a WinMO 6.5 custom ROM as HTC released the new 2.x versions of Manila (aka Sense) on devices that sported WinMO 6.5.
Additionally, some of the recent Manila releases (ex: 2.5, 2.6) may be versions obtained from dev/test ROM source. If you're after stability or rely on your device, this may not be preferable.
Custom ROM's
There are several customs available ... some chefs even release different ROM streams. In many cases, custom ROM's will also contain recent application updates. If you're after stability or rely on your device, once again this may not be preferable.
Custom ROM's are usually specific to devices. For example, if you own a Raphael GSM device, you only flash custom ROM that are Raphael GSM specific. Flashing custom ROM's from a different device or CDMA may permanently damage your device.
Kitchen (DIY Custom ROM)
Building a custom ROM has become much simpler. Many chefs who have moved onto another mobile device will often release a final ROM as well as the kitchen they use to prepare the ROM ... this serves as a great starting point.
Additionally, there are many tutorials available on how to use kitchens floating around the forum.
Lastly, moderators typically close threads requesting "What's The Best ROM" as selecting a custom ROM is like choosing a vehicle, house, partner ... it's all about personal preference. And from past experiences, these types of threads usually get out of control pretty quick. So, to avoid having a thread that you start closed, it is best to avoid "What's The Best ROM" discussions.
HTH,
OH..........sorry!
Don't want to upset the moderators!
Then I have just one final question:
Is there on this forum-part a topic with a standard ROM with instruction on how to customize it? Or can I find those things in the Wiki?
I would like to contribute to theme's or even a Dutch ROM.
I only need to know/learn how to do that! Can someone give me a link to some documentation and files/programs to use?
Thanks!

AFAIK, there isn't a "Generic" ROM with customization tips. What most members do is download a kitchen and post any customization related question in the corresponding kitchen thread.

Cheers,
Welcome to an experiment... members only AND FREE online kitchens for CyanogenMod 6.0.0 Release and Nightly builds.
Update: The auto-updating nightly kitchens are now online!
About the MoDaCo Online Kitchen infrastructure
Regular readers will know we've been running an online kitchen for a while, providing ROM building services to AdFree and Plus members. The reason the kitchens have only been available to members is simple - load. The infrastructure required to support kitchens for a large number of users and devices just isn't economically viable.
At the time of writing, the MoDaCo infrastructure consists of four dedicated servers (all running quad core processors with large disks and a large amount of memory). These servers run custom load balancing software designed to ensure that all of the servers are utilised as optimally as possible to provide the best possible build experience.
The experiment
I have set up two free kitchens below to use one of these servers, leaving the other 3 servers load balancing for Ad Free and Plus members. Now, there's a possibility that the free kitchen could become overloaded and collapse in a big heap, but to a certain extent that is the point of this exercise. To get a gauge on the impact of making an online kitchen more widely available. This is a very limited test and won't be extended to all kitchen ROMs.
The kitchen provides both the stable release build and the current unstable 'nightly' build (with update checks hourly).
Is there a difference between the members only and free kitchens?
The biggest difference of course is the allocation of servers in the farm, which equates to speed and availability. The other difference is that the member kitchen can create signed builds, whereas the free kitchen cannot.
Awesome! How do I support future kitchen developments?
Details on how to donate are in the original post at MoDaCo.
Do we post feedback on the CM 6 ROM here?
Only feedback on any issues relating to the kitchen... feedback on the ROM itself should be posted at the CyanogenMod forum.
Anything else?
The kitchens can be found here (unfortunately there's no way for me to embed them into this post) . Enjoy!
P
Very cool, thanks
Cool.

I will really enjoy the nightly kitchen with (maybe?) an old App2sd+ option.

Great! (they update same time as the nightly's?) Awesome!
Excellent idea Paul! Suggestion: I've always wondered if it would be possible to save my kitchen selections so I don't have to click all over the place every time I download. Nice work!
Yeah, that feature is coming!
P
AWESOME!
I did a CM Nightly, removed all the stuff I never ever use and now as soon as it downloads I just have to sign it and flash!
I wonder how it'll run.
Or just flash using clockworkmod recovery where signing isn't needed...
P
I am new here, I try to update the Kitchened ROM. But it failed, Error: Status 6.
Pls advise.
Thanks!
Tony
Which options did you bake in / out?

Hi Paul... I cooked a (nightly) rom with your "premium" kitchen... but I've got a question: if I try to look for an upgraded version of the rom (through the "Rom update utility") it say that there are no updated version of it.
This happens every night I try.
So... what I have to do to upgrade my nightly "cooked" (clean by all unused stuff ecc...) cyanogen rom? I don't want to upgrade to the stock nightly one, this way the online cooking became useful!
Thanks in advance and... sorry for my bad english, I'm from Italy.

Rom manager only checks for the original Nightly zip file. The kitchen adds the selected Gapps into the zip. ( I think )

That's great @AKA_Noodle. I used to own the Galaxy i9003 and have experience in testing ROMs, customizing, boat ware removal etc. for 10 months. I have just bought a Desire V yesterday and this is my first HTC. I am getting to know the difference.
I have followed your post and am going to ROOT the phone in a couple of days. I am giving my stock 7 days for the just in case hardware issues with my handset. Post that I will unlock the bootloader and free my device. I am ready for testing and development.
And by the way,
Congratulations to all. We finally have a dedicated thread for our phone.
Thanks @AKA_Noodle, i use the European Rom, great
Guys,
I don't own this device, but I'm interested in developing for it.
I believe I could try to port a ROM or two from the desire X to this device, if anyone would test it.
The only thing I need to know is: do you guys have android 4.0.4 or 4.0.3?

I'm interested with HTC Desire V Rom Development. And I will first make CM10, then MIUI, etc. I'm following the tutorials at XDA.
Finally i have device tree ready for HTC DESIRE V The next task is to download sources for CM9 ( takes a hell lot of time :/ ) and start working on it, hopefully with community's help, it will be completed
i will be uploading the device tree soon, so anyone can help me building it..
I'm waiting for that CM9, because all other ROMs I tried are disappointing. I posted here earlier a version for Baidu ROM but turns out that was also buggish.
So, please someone make a Cyanogenmod for this phone.
yeah... please develop a CM9/10 version for this dual sim phone ///
Until today, i still can't find an easy way to root my device. LOL!

I did some snooping - it turns out that it's buggish because we are using the nightly builds version of the Baidu . The official version is V4:

I know, but my version was from that stable one, which is based on version 27. Still it had some "things" because for Baidu stable not means final, it's a project in developement. I guess, if no one develop a CM for our device we'll have to wait for some final Baidu.
One other thing is that they develop Baidu to integrate with their service (let's not forget that Baidu is Google for China), and it will be more suitable to users from China .
Too bad that HTC couldn't release a ROM without bugs. Baidu, even in beta, didn't restart my phone randomly like HTC rom did (stock version too), and I have a friend with Wildfire stock, unrooted, untouched which do the same. Maybe it is something with HTC rom platform, I don't know.
I don't think it is hardware, because if it was, Baidu would restart too.
For developement
I just finished to try every single open source of android to make a new build for this phone and my conclusion is not good.
HTC announced that this phone will not get JellyBean - understandable 1 single core processor, 512 MB Ram, not enough.
That will be a huge obstacle in order to get Paranoid, PAC or Slimbean to this phone - they mentain those sources now only for jellybean. Or for jellybean, we need a new kernel to support that. And even so, we can not know if it will work - poor phone specs.
Cyanogenmod doesn't support DualSim, and I bought this phone for that function only.
MIUI doesn't support DualSim either - I know there are a lot of dualsim phones with MIUI, but these are ported not compiled from source - and MIUI source isn't public (what they have on github is a patch tool, wich doesn't work very well, especially with HTC phones which are more difficult).
LewaOS has a source open on github, but is only for Gingerbread - if they upgrade this it will be our best alternative, because LewaOS is a very stable, fast and reliable ROM, and works well even in low specs phones. Baidu ROM seems to be at the begining some port of LewaOS (I still found some mediatek references in baidu, and mediatek is the main processor for Lewa).
So, we're stuck with Sense...

None, it's a hardware issue. I took it to a service shop and then I sold it and never bought a HTC again.
"The G2 Dream Team" (and they well deserve that name) has released not one, but TWO lollipop builds for the LG G2. Both ROMs are based on the same build tree, but one ROM is CM12 and the other is a LiquidSmooth 4.0 ROM. Despite being built from the same build tree, they carry different features. They are stable and usable for daily drivers, but they may carry some bugs, like a non-functional video playback, NFC issues for LS/VS980 but it should all be sorted out in the near future. Head over to the threads to read more!:

Older posts:
An increasing amount of devices have been receiving unofficial Android Lollipop 5.0 ports, like the HTC One M8 and the LG Optimus L9. Today another device can be added to the list of phones receiving a treatment with the taste of Android Lollipop, the LG G2. While there generally has been a wide contribution from the community; testing, sharing files and giving ideas, two XDA members stood out in particular in order to create the build, @ylukasy and @InfinitusDesigner. The port is still in a very early pre-alpha stage, and the bugs are barely known yet, but the ROM boots and has even been rooted! While it might be wisest to wait until an official thread has been made before grabbing your devices and start flashing, @ylukasy has already provided a download link for the ROM, and calls for people to help discover the bugs so that they can be eliminated. Please notice that the ROM might not be stable enough to be used as a daily driver, but owners of a LG G2 are officially an important step closer to having a stable Lollipop ROM!
If this post caught your interest and you're willing to take the risk, head over to the last pages in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/unofficial-cm12-nexus-5-posted-t2936398
As previously mentioned, a lot of things are not sorted out yet, and the build might not be for your device number, so make sure you read the entire thread before continuing, or simply wait untill an official thread is made.
Update:
An official thread has been posted and it can be found by following this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-android-lollipop-fast-clean-t2941922
The build is a port of the Nexus 5 ROM, and users of the ROM have been saying that the rom is very fast and fluid, calls work, camera works (although the quality is inferior), but other users have been reporting random reboots and incompatibilities with certain apps such as YouTube or WhatsApp.

This post will be updated regularly when new information regarding Lollipop ports surface.
Fantastic News! Will get round to trying it shortly, thanks for the link!
While I have my doubts about it being functional (or even booting) on my LS980, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
Nice to see things moving at breakneck speeds these days.
On a side note, I just read the AnandTech review of the Nexus 6 and am happy to report that my well over a year old G2 beats it in several benchmarks so I'm pretty satisfied at the moment, especially considering I got it for free. I mean really...
In before "no build for xxxx?!?!?!?"
Anyone know how to port a d802 rom to d800?
Ready to try it out and see what happened..??
his build is from the same source the other was he doesn't deserve credit for it. it's using cm12 kernel and dev claims it's using nexus 5 port yet requires gapps and no signs of any nexus 5 code at all.

Hi everybody!!
I need a tester please:
I built pure AOSP for the D802 from sources of Android right now, has anybody time to test it?
It is an experimental build and I didn't test it right now, so I don't know if it is working, please make a backup from your current rom.
The build comes with an built in CWM recovery and should be with root access. It can be flashed with the same instructions like the CM 12 build.
Edit: Bootloop right now ... Anybody, can you take a logcat?

Yes sure, but right now, I have to solve the bug, that the d802 wouldnt boot, so this may take some more time until I build it for other devices too.
