Hi there!
I need a working ROM for my HTC Touch Pro.
I found one (hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470164) but that one was posted in 2007 so the download file is long gone from the internet! It was a ROM with a Stock market tab in FT3D.
I've read the rules and the Wiki but still I can't find what I'm looking for on this forum because of the many ROM's people have made! Don't get me wrong: I think that's great but I need help locating the right manilla that can be downloaded! Or point me in the direction were to look!

Well the latest is Manila 2.5 or sense 2.5 w/e you want to call it.
Most of the roms offer one or the other.
perrsonally i recommend energy rom... they're wonderful.
Leo version is slow but pretty
Pheonix two is strong.

Oké! Thanks for your replay. I've read somewere that manilla 2.6 is still in beta?
I know (from the wiki) that I have a HTC "Raphael" (touch pro...duh! ) but I see a lot of ROM's for the Diamond and pro 2 aswell! Do they all work fine on the Touch pro to? As a newbie I don't know were to look for when I'm looking for a ROM.
Can I create a ROM of my one? What need I to do that? I know my way around Paint Shop Pro but not around programming like in C++.
Manila (aka SenseUI)
Newer versions of Manila may require that you use a WinMO 6.5 custom ROM as HTC released the new 2.x versions of Manila (aka Sense) on devices that sported WinMO 6.5.
Additionally, some of the recent Manila releases (ex: 2.5, 2.6) may be versions obtained from dev/test ROM source. If you're after stability or rely on your device, this may not be preferable.
Custom ROM's
There are several customs available ... some chefs even release different ROM streams. In many cases, custom ROM's will also contain recent application updates. If you're after stability or rely on your device, once again this may not be preferable.
Custom ROM's are usually specific to devices. For example, if you own a Raphael GSM device, you only flash custom ROM that are Raphael GSM specific. Flashing custom ROM's from a different device or CDMA may permanently damage your device.
Kitchen (DIY Custom ROM)
Building a custom ROM has become much simpler. Many chefs who have moved onto another mobile device will often release a final ROM as well as the kitchen they use to prepare the ROM ... this serves as a great starting point.
Additionally, there are many tutorials available on how to use kitchens floating around the forum.
Lastly, moderators typically close threads requesting "What's The Best ROM" as selecting a custom ROM is like choosing a vehicle, house, partner ... it's all about personal preference. And from past experiences, these types of threads usually get out of control pretty quick. So, to avoid having a thread that you start closed, it is best to avoid "What's The Best ROM" discussions.

AFAIK, there isn't a "Generic" ROM with customization tips. What most members do is download a kitchen and post any customization related question in the corresponding kitchen thread.

i{m try to put any rom in my wizard but only 3 give me results the faria rom the mb rom and the core rom so tellme what is the best rom for wizard

How on earth are we meant to tell you what rom is the best?
Faria's and xplore rate highly, molski is also up there, at the moment im investigating mfrazzz's rom. It is a matter of personal preference, there is no definitive best rom because all wizard owners are recycling the same poo.
Im not flaming you but it would be nice if you pulled your socks up before you thought about posting a question such as this again.

1. Decide what programs you really want to use.
2. Decide what programs you really don't want to have.
3. Decide which base OS you want to run - stable or bleeding edge.
4. Pick the ROM's that are a close match to your choices in #1 & #2.
5. Read the entire posts for those ROMs, and decide from user feedback on which to use.
6. Try a few, get a feel for what works best for you. No rom is right for any one person. It just depends on what kind of base you want, and how much customization you want to do.
Best bet is to stick to the high profile roms, such as Faria's, Xplore, Crossbow Reloaded, etc... while you're checking things out. Test, test, test...
Then when you're ready, build your own
Is there a (mostly) complete list of released ROMs anywhere?
I'm having trouble learning what is the latest WM6 version is, seeing as some ROMs have a v10.2.xxx and some a 15.x.xxx and others a 6.2.xx. What on Earth do these version numbers mean?
Is there a thread I simply haven't found which explains this?

What features do you like?
What do you use your phone for?
What do YOU like?
No one can answer this question for you. You need to research each ROM and see if it has the features that you like. If you want to know what others are using then look at their signatures and you will see what they like. But that of course is no indication whatsoever that you will like it too.
All of the dedicated cookers on this site do outstanding work and each has their own style. There is no "best" ROM, they are all top notch in their own respects. Try them out, use them for a few days, see if they meet your needs.

I haven't looked at the Wizard WIKI lately because most of my focus has been on my Hermes of late. But at least for the Hermes there is a page that lists all available roms with links to the release threads and to the download sites and mirrors. If there isn't something like this for the Wizard you could always start this yourself with the information that you research and hopefully others will contribute and keep it going.
im in the process of making a rom for my mogul but i need to know what would be the best one. ive hear of dcd, but i hear there a dogguys one and a no2chem one. so please tell me what would work best for a good rom creator. also does anyone know how to change both the main bootsplash and the sub bootsplash on the mogul because i hate the boring old stock ones. thank you.

If you look at VetVito's base rom, it actually reports 47.88 mb of total program memory. This is a full 900k more than the next closest ROM. I turned off the HTC Home and Microsoft Live Search home screen plugins and after soft-reset, there is >27 mb of RAM available (Free).
I'm using it now and it is snappy and every little bit of extra available ram, helps.

So you use your PPC w/o adding any programs? Isn't that like having a PC just to run notepad?
I'd reccomend you check the other kitchens out as well. i've not used the ppckitchen.org kitchen but I know dogguys kitchen will give you the ability to dump any rom you choose as your base. This may work better for some people who don't like my customizations, or want to use a more stock base as mine has become a little more experimental lately.

no2chem doesn have a kitchen. people use basekits to make custom roms off of his roms

no2chem's basekit is a really good foundation to build your ROM off of, but I personally think DCD is pretty hard to beat...
I'm a novice chef and I'm seeing more and more people use a hybrid build for their roms. For example, NATF is using 21009 which he got from Da_G and I'm wondering why? I've been using NATF's ROMS has a base for my customizations and I'm looking to start building my own base. Since NATF went away from the stock AT&T ROM I've noticed the hybrids are quirky so I'm trying to get a handle on why chefs are using them as I go forward.
Also, is there a good collection of Packages somewhere for bundling in to a rom?

There are alot of reasons for making a hybrid. The main reason is taking the best of everything. a dll from here, a package from there, a sys from here, a xip from there. You are right that it can be quirky. However it can also yield incredible roms if done right.
Honestly there is no great location for packages. Most of them are collected over time. I have several hundred that it has taken me years to get. Probably about half of those are now out of date. The best thing you can do is just start searching. If there are any specific ones you need let me know and ill see if I have them.

Hybrid builds may introduce some quirks, but they rarely cause "dealbreakers" as I've seen some problems referred to lately.
Two positive examples of hybrid builds that immediately spring to mind are: MS Voice Command [was broken in Fuze stock ROM - needed a new DLL and OS build to correct], and GPS Navigation [horrible in Fuze stock ROM for 99% of people - needed Blackstone/Diamond drivers and registry changes to correct].
One dealbreaker would be: Captain Throwback. When he flashed to my ROM based on 21009, his Exchange connection suddenly stopped working. This began as a dealbreaker, but ended up being narrowed down to his SD card being partitioned, which OS 21009 didn't like. This is a quirk that was resolved by creating one big SD card.
Unfortunately that hasn't been a good collection of ROM packages created for the Raphael yet. On the Kaiser, _Alex_ distributed a modified version of KaiserKitchen along with a rather large collection of QVGA packages.
I totally agree that spot fixes like the GPS/DirectX drivers from the Blackthrone are important additions. I didn't realize MSVC was broken with the base AT&T build. That can certainly be a good reason to upgrade. That's sort of why I wanted to get a handle on why you guys were doing it. To me, MSVC isn't worth losing multi-select but I'm sure it is to others.
I'd love to see a base OS thread where we can just discuss updates/changes like this without the clutter of general support for a ROM.
I agree, _ALEX_'s kitchen was awesome on the Kaiser. I've been putting together a collection for my own use, maybe we should all just get together and create a good set of packages for chefs.
You don't need to lose multiselect, it's controlled by a registry key (which i discuss in my 20xxx registry settings thread in the raphael forum)
Also, the fix for MSVC in stock fuze rom is simply a blackstone wavedev.dll driver, don't need to upgrade the os to fix that, just extract rom, drop in driver replacement, cook

I can't seem to get rid of multiselect using that registry key. It's cooked into my latest ROM, but multiselect is still there.
I thought we tried dropping the DLL file into the stock ROM, but it wouldn't take... since the OS is 19971.
I've tried many roms for my raphael, though they are all good, but most of them have extras that I don't need, and they can't be uninstall.
Is there a ROM with just a basic (no extra 3rd party apps) functions?
A clean ROM basically, for raphael?

Well... i've just upgraded my trinity to touch pro recently, and I'm a newbie here
and as far as i can see, that rom isn't very clean (maybe the cleanest among the available ones)
I don't really need stuffs like google map, spb calculator (basic calculator is enough), total commander, etc
cleanest in my opinion would be da_g's roms. basically you cook your own rom by selecting what you want...or what you dont want.

Download "Plain Jane no homescreen interface" version
Da_G's plain ROM is great, but you have to install a number of things to get good functionality (better left to those very experienced with customizing).
The plain interface version of the EnergyROM is a good mix and doesn't have any unnecessary UI elements. Very fast IMHO and includes good apps without programs that no one uses (except Windows Live )

i don't remember there being a spb calc on it, and everything else like google maps IS uninstallable
edit : i see wat ur talkin about now, his applicaiton list. he musta have forgtten to remove that, it's not on there. but as sum1 above suggested, the cleanest way is to use da_g's kitchen and cook ur own rom, he's made it very simple for any noob to use.

Agreed ... Da_G's Simple ROM Kitchen is the quickest way to cook a ROM to one's liking. There is a fair number of packages already included in the kitchen that can be selected/unselected.

I nominate At0mAng 5.4 rom. Its based on the latest build (from what I could see, the rest were not), avaliable both with AT&T and HTC hardware, and is pretty close to stock in the apps and visual customizations thats included.

Louzeberry is also using the latest WM6.1 build but of cse it's not as lean as cooking your own ROM, but it looks darn good!

I would like to know if anyone can help me...
I'm looking for an original Microsoft, unmodded version of WM 6.5.3... So far i have been unable to find one... I found some versions here but all of them are modded and that doesn't work for me...
I wanted to install a ROM that is not modified so I can conduct some experiences in memory and CPU usage.
If anyone can forward me to a link or post it here I would be tremendously grateful!

Hmm, just a little question, you want a rom for your Nike, or you wanna make a rom for your Nike.

What I am looking for is an installable build of WM 6.5.3... Not a cooked ROM.
I wanted to test some parameters such as battery usage, memory usage and other parameters using only "official" builds.
It would be a test of WM 6.1 VS WM 6.5.3 on the Niki for the parameters i mentioned!
But i seem to not be able to find any builds other than those available for cooking...
I don't want to cook! I don't know how...
I remember that a year ago we were abound with WM 6.5 builds ready for download and install and now I can't seem to find this anywhere. I know that WM 7 is around the corner but there's got to be someone that still has this online...
I just want to see if using both on the Niki makes a big difference!

Okay now I know what you want but as far as I know there isn't an original WM 6.5 for the Nike only the cooked versions.
