Have you tried it yet?
I just ordered a new Hermes Replacement housing from cnn.cn, however I haven't received it yet.
If you are ordering one just make sure you order the right one for your phone.
For instance, the TyTN replacement body will not work on a 8525 and vise versa...

I was looking over the cnn.cn and from first looks, it seems like the 8525 OEM black housing will work with the TyTN phone.
Is it confirmed the two will not work with one another? They are the same identical phone but with out the front camera on the 8525. If anyone will or has tried let us know.
I haven't tried, but I doubt it would. If you compare the positions on the different buttons - you can see that it the buttons doesn't correspond on the two different models. I'll buy the housing for TYTN to be sure it fits.
Wonder if they supply a instruction manual with it... Anyone knows?
The 8525 case that cnn.cn has for sale shows a front camera hole but no video call button which is something I would prefer, but where do you get the d-pad from? For those looking for a disassembly of the hermes have a look here on the wiki.I think there could be a really good combination of part to make a really nice looking hermes.
Dangnabbit.
I just ordered that Black Housing, but didn't notice the lack of a video call button. I hope it wont matter during installation on my Xda version
I've replaced the housing on my Vario ii for that of an SPV M3100 with no problems whatsoever - it was really quite straightforward. I kept the t-mobile directional pad as I preferred the look of it.
Changing the housing on a model of hermes with a different layout however is not so straightforward as it involves not only changing the keypad itself but also the little pcb underneath which is slightly different between Herm models.
it is certainly possible to replace the slide mechanism, keyboard and backplate between ANY model of Hermes, and some nice combinations are possible. I have a vario ii orange backlit keyboard if anyone wants it.
chinaonnitrous1!
Let us know how it went
Thanks!
they carried 2 housing...the only different is the key pad layout...so pay attention to the key pad...
This company is very slow in responding to email. I send them 2 email about a week ago asking for shipping date...yet no respond
Thats interesting, I ordered something from them on thursday, I got an email withing hours saying it had shipped with a tracking number...
As for the keypad layout, if you wanted to use the Black case you would have to also find the keypad to match it, as well as the PCB that goes beneath. cnn.cn has the parts for the TyTN, but not the 8525.
Maybe someone with good dremel and case modding skills could make it look good though.
Does anyone actually have the Black HTC TyTN that they were supposedly shipping? I was going to get one, but then everyone convinced me not too, I'd be interested to see some pics though.
I'lll get the housing withhin a week.
I'll post pics and everything.

chinaonnitrous1 any news on how it went ?
I bought from http://cnn.cn/shop a case for 8525 and the external keyboard because I have a SPV M3100. I am waiting for the package and I'll put some pictures of the case. I hope the quality of the case is ok.
I just received my new TyTN case from cnn.cn. It is a dopod branded case, slightly different colour than my original TyTN case. I guess I would call the colour "graphite".
It is definately an original case off of a phone, it still has the old IMEI and Serial Number on the sticker on the back.
Build quality is good, it doesn't look like it is off a used phone. One thing I noticed however was that the silver metal on the front was slightly pulled up, and there were some adhesive remnants on the side of the case. I'm sure it will clean up fine with a little solvent though.
I haven't replaced it yet, I am waiting on a new keypad circuit board (mine is fried, you have to push it ridiculously hard to get it to work), and I will open it up then and replace everything.
Ordering from CNN.CN was pretty good. Shipping was $5 CAD, and it took about a week and a half to arrive. A signature was required, but there were no fees or duty.

Hi, I'd be interested in the keypad, if it's still available? I've dropped my VarioII and the keypad is slightly bent lol
where did you get the replacement body from?
Cheers
The title says it all really, just want to know what the fit is like etc. As far as I can make out we're a bit stuck for cases for the Orbit2.
Many thanks. Apologies if I've missed this if it's covered here somewhere.
OK, just to round this thread off, in case anyone else out there is thinking of buying a Krusell case for the Touch Cruise to use with their Orbit 2, I now have one and basically I am fairly happy with it.
On the negative side, the case adds a fair amount of bulk and it's not possible to have anything plugged in to the bottom connector (a real pain for headphone use) whilst the case is poppered up. The fit is not exactly right, many of the holes don't line up exactly as they would if the case was designed for the Orbit2. The popper you need to pop to open the case to take a call etc is a bit of a fiddle, would have been great if Krusell had designed in a tag to make that easier.
On the plus side; the case is a big improvement for me over the case that came with the phone. The quality is great, ah the smell of new leather! The holes at the back for the camera and mirror and the speaker seem to line up fine. The fact that the holes at the front don't line up perfectly doesn't seem to make any difference to the quality of phone calls.
My plan is to get hold of a leather punch/sharp knife and do some customising, so that I can plug my headphones in whilst the case is closed and to enlarge some of the holes at the front so that it should all fit properly. Then if Krusell/someone else releases a custom made case for the Orbit 2, I wouldn't think I'd even want to change it.
If anyone else is interested and wants me to post any pics let me know and I will be more than happy to do so.
It would help if you had a link to the product.
I am interested in seeing your pictures too...because often times I have found the pictures on the manufacturers \ store websites are VERY misleading and small.
Thanks in advance.
Would it really help you? I see you are in the US, I am talking about the O2 (European) Orbit 2 which has differing dimensions from the rest of the Polaris', due to the O2 branding, which gives the whole phone a different shape and means various bits are in slightly different positions from the Polaris/Touch Cruise. If this still might help you I can fire up the camera and post some pics, no problem.
Just saw this on ebay...Im a fan of housing and facia. But i know %98 of TP2 owner right now dont wanna touch the Hardware section of the phone.( for customizing)
It Just nice too see that we can tweak not only whats inside but also the outside too... Im just hoping for a nice fit and high quality. Its too early to tell how good this housing is but i wanna know soon.

I also noticed that a couple days ago but they only offer red and blue right now. I'm not savy enough but I think it's a cool options
For that, did you know how to dismount the TP2 ?
Looks like not really easy to operate at first glance...
You get a screwdriver with it ... just find all the screws and replace!
wait few months... dismantling this phone will be on youtube!
I noticed those when I bought my TP2 last week... to bad they are only red and blue. I would be down for black, or maybe a nice dark green. They look nice from the photo. I don't like taking apart slider phones... PITA
The Wing wasn't so bad. I did the whole thing solo since my brother broke his screen and there weren't any dismantling guides available yet. It's easier than you think... just don't force anything and keep a sharp eye open for screws.
The only problem with swapping the case for a T-Mobile version is that you have to keep the T-Mobile keyboard. The layout is unique to T-Mobile and the HTC version (as well as other carriers) vary from model to model.

It's really easy to swap cases. I had to replace the screen on my room mates Kaiser which is a slider tilt screen device as well. Took me 40 mins tops & I had to completely disassemble it. Will probably have to again soon. He broke his screen a second time lmao. The one thing I'll note though is for T-Mobile, the whole device is different basicly. The screen does have a tappered edge & the screen cover is bigger & the battery cover is a completely different design. the Stylus doesn't go through it. So, the T-Mobile wouldn't be completely changible. As for the keyboard, that can be changed via ROM. The HTC Kaiser has a different KB Layout than the AT&T Tilt, we just install a CAB to "fix" this as the ROM's are made for the HTC version. Also, the Sprint/Verizon/AT&T(From what I read) have Headphone Jacks. You could arguably use only part of the kit, but for $80-100+, I want one completely compatible with my device.
As for Colors, there's a full silver/full black/& black & orange version available. I wish they made them available in pieces so you could mix & match parts. For example the Battery covers.
Anyone knows whether a housing is available for the european version? Mine has some ugly scratches due to close contact with the asphalt Can't find a new housing though, only bezels... I need a new grey edge around the keyboard to which the battery cover is attached aswel. Is this even possible?
Luckily, the keyboard, screen and batt cover are still intact, and the phone is still functioning properly. It is now protected by a plastic rubberized case and a screenprotector.
Help would be very welcome!
I'm thinking about giving this a try to replace the screwed up button layout that ATT provided. If I can just swap the buttons and the remap the keys with a cab file I'm thinking I can get the QWERTY keyboard back to it's original form.
Anyone else tried this?
Jon
Tried going to the link but it appears to have been "removed".....anywhere else?
This one is working for me.

Dismantling HTC Touch PRO2, HTC Rhodium in pictures...
The above dismantling link has been in the XDA-Wiki for several months now.
So what? If someone asks a question and I can help, I sure will. Or should I be an smartass and tell it's around here, use the search... Maybe it's your thing, not mine.
i'd like to try to replace the bezel on the screen-part, it's got little wholes and even a completely crushed section.. but according to the link you'll have to disassemble the whole keyboard-part in order to do that.. isnt there an easier way to replace the bezel??
just wanted to let everyone know that I have the black/blue case from ebay china. It took 3 weeks but I finally have it.
After taking apart my g1 and 90% housing conversion from white to black. I accidentally cut one of the ribbons off and broke the phone. So im a little scared to take apart this $400 phone. Didnt mind the g1 because there dirt cheap and easy to find another one.
If you all can gather some links and any guides I will probably convert my tmo tp2 to the new housing sunday mourning. unless someone can confirm that its extremly easy to switch housing.
Just an example of the g1 dissemble.

ive been modding hardware since everyone had a nextel i730. ive seen alot of crappy poorly made housings in my days. usually the first and second generation batches of housings that come out are poorly cut, or made of brittle plastics. i would advise that when looking for housings(especially for expensive devices), that you get a 3rd generation housing and look on youtube for directions.
So excited.
I am trying to covert my T-mobile touch pro 2 soon. The full housing will arrive in 2 days. I dropped my precious on the pavement.... T-mobile housing is nowhere to be found so I bit the nail. Hopefull it's going to turn out awesome
Check this one for taking apart. flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157621828152091/
Hi Everyone...
I recently picked myself up an unlocked AT&T Fuze for myself... My spouce was really envyous of my new toy, so I picked up a Sprint Touch Pro.... I got it used and at a good price... the one issue is the plastic cover over the screen is in rough shape... the touch part and screen are perfect though.. And I am not talking about one of those stick on protectors you buy.. the person who had the phone before me didn;t use one of those, and that is why it is like this... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance..
Todd
The cheapest trick for things like this is toothpaste, not the gel kind the old fashioned stuff, it'll smooth out screens like this.
Guys I'm looking for a real original htc touch screen, till now I've found only clones. I tried them 2 times, and differently than the original one, when I dropped the phone with the clones 2 times on 2 I immediately broke the touch screen. Instead when I dropped the phone with the original one I had no problem at all.
The clones just suck...
Do you know where to find the real original touch screen?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-HTC-T...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item2eb0678ba3
supplied me genuine lcds & digitizers for a variaty of HTC & Nokia devices.
Big part with final result on Diamond 2 is correct bonding of digitizer, non solid setting adhesive should be used & full bonding around the edges must be achieved.
Solid setting adhesives transfer shock without any absorbtion & non bonded areas flex & resonate causing potential fracture points.
Of course ****e quality chinese copy parts play a big roll in problem repairs too ...
Actually I bought exactly the new touch screen from that seller. And that touch screen wasn't the original though.
You can see that it's not an original one looking at the zoom bar. It's shorter that the origial one. The genuine one gose from edge to edge, instead the clone one is smaller. And the overall colour is different. I can post pictures of both original one and clone one.
Anyway what do you mean by solid setting adeseive??
Just put in a PayPal claim for non delivery & get your money back. recently got LCD & digitixer for 2 Diamond repairs, both parts were original. If sent you copies do them over, get your money back & give them some nasty feed back.
No hard solid adhesives should be used, needs to be soft rubber type glue to help absorb & stop shock loads transfering to digitizer.
Ok here is a picture where you can see the difference between the original and the one bought from that seller. Is yours similar to the one marked original or to the one marked clone?
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/2456/touchscreen.jpg
One marked original, markings are light & the - & + icons run almost in-line with edges of screen.
Also back lighting bleeds through too much on cheap copy digitizers.
They supplied you a non genuine part so screw them over big time.
I live in Asia & by my digitizers & LCDs from UK as all our local parts suppliers sell china spare parts of supposing different quality pending on how much you are willing to pay ! Quality of almost all chinese digitizers & LCDs are simply ****e & not worth the postage stamp & do nothing but pollute the environment with manufacturing waste & a product that is waste as soon as removed from packaging.
Sorry to thread hi-jack but iv'e been looking for this answer everywhere and everywhere says what type of adhesive to use but no one gives a specific make-brand or link to buy any .
I was looking at buying a full case from the same seller as my phones current case is looking a little worn out and although the digitizer is perfect and is falling out i dare say when i try to get it off it will smash into a million little pieces so i'll order the full set. But my question remains what is the best type of glue to use who makes it and where can i get it from?
Oh and would be handy to hear if you have any tips or experiences using it.
Thanks
Digitizers, don't buy here, go there!
I too ordered 2 digitizers from E-cell; both were fakes!! They won't go into any discussion with me, they just told me to send them back. They KNOW that is crap there selling and advertise it as genuine...
BE AWARE DON'T BUY THERE, IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.

Digitizer glued to LCD?
I contacted a repair man and told me it's a waste of time buying replacement digitizer as the orginal is stuck onto the LCD and you risk damaging the LCD if you attempt to remove it.
Is this true or is he scaring me off in doing the job myself.
Also I read that you need adhesive tape is this true?
If refering to Diamond2, LCD is not bonded any any way to digitizer.
Digitizer is bonded to alloy front chassis only.
This is one of the easiest HTC models to strip & repair, LCD or digitizer can be fitted individually no question.
If you take care with disembly & be gentle with all ribbons it will be simple.
some common sense & previous experience comes in handy de-bonding & rebonding digitizer but its far from scary.
Adhesive tape is not the best option but perhaps the simplest.
I used a tiger brand u30 adhesive, black in colour & sets rubbery so act as a good shock absorber. advantage of adhesive bonding is better full radius bonding resulting in a more shock & direct impact resistant digitizer.

It's a bit tricky to find god digitizers on Ebay.
This is one of the best I bought. The backside should look like the one in this auction.

Also if I ever needed to replace the digitizer again will it be easy to remove if it had u30 adhesive on it?.

I bought this Touch Screen Digitizer For HTC Touch Diamond 2 II T5353 and waiting for it to arrive. It was the only one I could find within my own local ebay listing that looks to have the right full length zoom guide at the bottom. Come over for a cuppa.

Fortune IT hardware shop BKK. No done a second replacement yet but tested adhesive prior to using it for assembly & it should be quite easy to clean to about 90%.
Tape is the simplest but varies in adhesive strength & can result in digitizer being not flush fitting & not evenly bonded resulting in easy failure with impact loads.
Also most people who use tape end up doing second replacement.

Almost a 1 yeard old post but can you tell me the seller ID that sent you the digitizers or any other that you used to get good quality ones?
