I know this is told and explained at least hundred times in our forum but every newbie keep on asking about how to do it everytime newbie comes in forum. So here are simple steps to install rom in Atom Life and similar models.
I am requesting all of you, Please do not keep explaining same thing again and again, Just mention this link. Its better and time saving...That's all.
===================================================
HOW TO INSTALL ROM IN ATOM LIFE AND SIMILAR MODELS?
___ by indiacam
------------------------------------------------------------------
USE THIS INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK
1) Take a branded SDCard or good quality SDcard with less than 2GB capacity and format with FAT16 (FAT) in your pc. Bad or cheap SDCard is not detected in most cases.
2) Copy "AL1.DIO" file in the root of SDCard. Do not copy any other file in SDcard. Insert SDCard in Atom.
3) Be sure that battery level is above 75%
4) This is very important step now. Press RECORD key (first key from top at right side of device, see Image-1) and keep it pressing, dont release it. While pressing RECORD key inside, press stylus at bottom and wait until the bootloader screen appear as shown in Image-2.
When Bootloader screen appears you can release RECORD key.
5) If your SDCard is perfect, as shown in Image-2 you will see a line at bottom of bootloader as.....
****Mini-SD DETECTED******
Now you will see the rom is being read from SDCard and percentage will be shown on next line starting from 0% to 100% and again upto around 47%. Thats normal. After that screen will go blank and device will start to restart.
6) You just need to wait for few seconds and rom installation completes. Now you will simply continue as instructed until new Today screen appears. Device may ask you to TAP screen to continue, then Align Screen then enter Region and Date-Time and may be the owner information, etc. Some instructions will not show if rom is customized not to enter such information.
7) Today screen appears and you are done!

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) ..... in second post.... <<WORTH READING BEFORE FLASHING
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
1) Can I flash with my CHARGER CONNECTED?
Answer: here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5386637&postcount=16
2) After bootreset my device shows bootloader screen as mentioned above but MiniSD Card is not detected.
Answer: There are several reasons why SDCard is not detected....
Possible Reason 1: Your MiniSD card may not be formatted in FAT16 (FAT) format. If you have formatted it in pc, it is possibly formatted with FAT32. Reformat it in FAT16 format and try again.
Possible Reason 2: May be your SDCard is is bigger size than 2GB. The SDCard must be less than 2GB and should be formatted in FAT16 format.
Possible Reason 3: This problem also is caused by unbranded or cheap quality SDCards. Even some unbranded SDCards are not good for installing rom. Try with really good quality SDCard and if fails try with some other.
3) After bootloader, my device did read all the rom from SDCard and showed percentage uptp 100% and then again upto 47% but after that it restart the device system did hung with blank screen. Now nothing is happening and all keys seems not responding' Is my device dead?
Answer: No, may be your device is not yet dead.
Possible Reason 1: It is possible that the ROM file you downloaded might have gone corrupted while downloading or while copying to SDCard. Try downloading again from same location or from Mirror and copy on freshly formatted SDCard. There are several occasions I have found that Rom file was corrupted and it was corrected when new mirror was made available.
Possible Reason 2: It is possible that your battery was not full or at least above 70% when you tried flashing. Flashing may need more power while in process. Be sure battery is above 70% or more. Just leave your battery on charge in same position for some more time and try reflashing.

Assuming that you have tried the instructions stated on the first post. Try using a branded miniSD as this is maybe the reason to your problem.

As soon as I press both the record button and click soft reset with stylus, all I can see is the screen keep flashing white every 3 secs or so, and after waited for like 1-2 mins still nothing, just keep flashing...what have I done wrong?? could my Atom life be a newer version or something??
Thanks in advance

Even I confirm this that I have Flashed at least 10 times with CHARGER CONNECTED to "O2 ATOM LIFE" and battery with less than 14%, and it always went smoother and bit faster.
But remember do always as wise people say. If it is said flash with battery only with more than 75% charged.
One more thing, I only confirm that I did this with O2 Atom Life, dont know about other models. Do it only if someone confirms for your model.
what if my SD card is only 1 GB ... is it possible to flash ?

The procedure can only be done using MiniSD...try using another MiniSD card.

This Thread is for those Unlucky Users of X10 mini who were hang in Boot-Loop and Can't able to Switch-Off their precious phone.
I am talking about An Hardwre Trick to Switch-Off your phone and make it to the SEUS easly... Thats works 101%.
To Switch-Off your Phone you need to perform these Steps....
1. Remove the back cover.
2. You will see a rubber cog Just left side of the Camera...
3. Remove the Rubber Cog by any way (just be gental with it)....with the help of Pin or Sumthing that you can lift it up.
4. After removing that Cog.....you will see a White small Plug that connects the wire to internal battery!!!
5. Remove that Pulg(Very gentally.......with the same method you done with Cog).....After this you will see that your phone got Switched-Off.
6. Replug the White Pulg. And the Job is Done.
7. Launch the SEUS application in your computer and follow the steps....
8. And WOW you got your Phone back Completely working!!!
Here's The Screen Shots For The Respective Steps-:

Disclaimer-: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE for any damage to your precious device......But i'll help to solve any Query regarding this method!!!
I think flash tool method is safer. No need to power off just holding home+power button make phone restart.

I've put the link for your thread on my blog. I hope you don't mind.

yeah, this kinda feels too risky, better the simple connect phone, open flashtools, select a rom to flash, press home+back+on and then release everything but back, works every time
LOL nice share..but by pressed power+home key i can restart my mini...
But without really turning off your phone, you can't use SEUS or flashtool.

That's right, on a bootloop there's no way to make flashtool work!
Anyway during bootloop xrecovery works fine and if i know what i did wrong i can fix it

Of course you can.
If you had your /system formatted (by accident or smth), you would not be able to access xrecovery menu.
However, you can stop the bootloop sequence with the instructions i posted earlier (and it is not something secret, most of the advanced users know this procedure). Flashtool and SEUS can recognise the device and they work.
seems u just wanna have an arguement. i myself tried ur method first and i went crazy without any luck. then i got a toolkit and actually opened my phone apart and took out the battery terminal and reinserted it. i wish that i got pratyush idea before. it would have saved me lot of time

abdullah1982,
i don't need to argue with anyone and it is very sad that i have to defend myself right now. I have fixed, or help in fixing, many bricked mini/mini pro devices and many users in here, know my contribution.
I insist on the button reset method because its less dangerous than just pulling the battery connector plug.
It is not my fault if you were incapable of doing a soft reset, but that does not mean i am obliged to accept malicious criticism from you or anyone.
I understand that pratyush_gamer's pure intention, was to help people and i am not try to offend him IN ANY WAY.
BTW take a look at this thread. You will see that "unplug connector" method was well known before.

So if any of you wanna try it.....its ok ......nothing to worries about.....

Same error to me...I try everything, every tool that I found for X10 but nothing help it...I also try wotan server with several different firmwares but always same error...ERROR: file header write failed!
I think that is imposible to repair without some dongle like setool...

Hey I've had the same exact problem for about 3 months now I've tried everything i can think of.

I was having the EXACT same issue that led me to this thread. I had a custom kernal loaded so not sure if that was why I was getting "error flash aborted". Anyhow as someone mentioned here, I held down the back button until the entire flash was completed. That finally worked. Thanks!

Nope sorry mate I have two devices, that's why i assume its hardware failure because they were both flashed the same way and my primary one is fine (running FXP45)
The bricked X10 is actually from a much newer batch which is odd, you would think the first one to die would be the one i have been flashing roms on since i debranded my 1.6 rom!
The phone is beyond my help now i think because its not even getting into flash mode and neither SEUS or flashtool can see it. It slowly got worse and worse until it wouldn't do anything at all.
I have been using Wolf's tweaked GB ROM for ten days.
I solved the problem with a very wierd way.
Hope it helps when you try.
After you've extracted and installed Flashtool;
go to your computer's Control Panel.

X10 failure in flashing ROM
I experienced a very hard situation after an unsuccessful ROM flashing onto my x10. Flashing procession was nearly finished but error message was happened and then aborted! Since that my device was permanently unbootable at all, when press the switch button to turn it on, there was no vibration nor SE boot up logo, just a red light brinked up for a few seconds. It seemed to be permanently dead. I tried many ways to reflash ROM onto the device via SE PC Companion, SESU, FlashTool but the program couldn't detect the device nor wiring on flash mode.
The device could not be accessed at all. Is there any experts who can solve this problems, please show me and the other owners how to fix X10 in this matter upon the software; programs, and the obvious procession. That would be greatly appreciated.

blinking red you say?
try to charge your battery first, probably using a desktop charger, or another fully charged battery, and re-do flashing through either SEUS or repair thru PCCompanion.
blinking red led indicates battery power too low to boot.
if that fails, i'm afraid you have to try and see a tech

I was able to flash back to stock generic firmware 2.0.A.0.504 using this, not sure if this was the fix or coincidental. Using X10 Flash tool 0.5.3.0.
From there I have flashed the correct BB, Doom kernel for unlocked and recovery yadda yadda. The phone lives (for now...)

Sorry, I don't want to be rude, but are you kiddin' me? Don't you see the drop from nearly 80% to 0??
Yep. I can see it. Right at the end. But that image tells us absolutely nothing. It seems WiFi is on, the screen is on but that's about it. Impossible to say why based on that image alone.
oh thanks. Doesn't it looks really weird? in general everything is fine, but as I already mentioned, about once every two weeks, crazy stuff like described. I put my phone on the desk, leaving for some minutes and when I'm back, it's off?! ...
What can I do to give you more details?
Yep, very weird. OK, next time it happens, immediately after you reboot when it crashes logs (kmsg/logcat; I'm no expert on these by any means) might be useful to determine what the phone was doing at the time it crashed.
Edit to add - Could be a firmware issue of some kind, or it could even be a battery issue given it's running on battery when it happens.

I'm very glad to read an answer. thanks a lot mate, for sure!! at this time I'm very confused and not sure about switching to another rom to check this behaviour, because I'm very satisfied with litening, At this time I suppose further request should be asked within the litening thread.
BUT askiong the whole community: did you recognized problems like me? maybe also with litening? ...or seems this to be an act of whatever? Somebody else? Some hints? This action of my phone really sucks a lot!!
Another thing: on the day I mentioned the drop, afterwards i put my phone onto charger till 24% and plugged off, went to bed... next day when woke up the percentage was 30% ... what the hell is going on?
Do you think it's an issue of litening rom?? I'm in love with litening, but do you think it's time to run another one??

Another thing: on the day I mentioned the drop, afterwards i put my phone onto charger till 24% and plugged off, went to bed... next day when woke up the percentage was 30% ... what the hell is going on?
Do you think it's an issue of litening rom?? I'm in love with litening, but do you think it's time to run another one??

Wow what a massive drop at the end! Lol..
Have you tried flashing different ROMs? Pulling out the battery for 10 seconds? Or changing batteries?
Possibility its the ROM your flashing incorrectly.
Follow the guide: (But i'd suggest doing a /format system and /format internal sd card also)
Stap 1. Make a full backup of your current ROM (Nandroid Backup).
Stap 2. Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
Step 3. Wipe User Data/Factory Reset", this will wipe all data off of the phone memory (not SD card though).
Step 4. Now click "Wipe cache partition".
Step 5. Then go down to "Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache".
Step 6. Install Odin v1.85 on your computer then download and unrar the Litening Rom rar file.
Step 7. Make sure that your phone is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging and make sure that the program KIES is completely closed.
Step 8. Reboot your phone into download mode. To do so: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home + Power on simultaneously.
Step 9. Start Odin.
Step 10. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable.
Step 11. Wait a few seconds, the Odin screen will show that a device is now connected... Added!!
* Make sure that in Odin nothing is checked, except the "Auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checkboxes.
* Press the "PDA" button, and select the md5 file.
* Press "Start". Odin will now flash the Lite'ning Rom, after flashing your phone should reboot.

Did everything you mentioned, also flashed the current rom exactly the way you've described, except formating the device.
I'll try the new version of litening now... thanks for your reply!!
Just to add to this, if the above doesn't help maybe try another battery, the S2 2000mAh battery is brilliant anyway so never a loss, and at about $40 well worth the money.

Short and sweet , hopefully this will get you up and running again.
Download these 2 files

Basically this is the default rom, along with spflashtools.
Unzip both to your harddrive somewhere.
Open the location you have extracted spflashtools and click on Flash_tool.exe , then, click scatter-loading on the right hand side, and point it to where you have extracted the rom.
Now, with your phone unplugged from PC/Laptop click the Download button in SPFlashtool. Click ok to anything that pops up.
Now, take the battery out of your phone, and insert the usb cable into the laptop, WITH BATTERY UNPLUGGED . Keep the battery unplugged untill the flash is complete, a little box with a circle saying OK will show after few minutes.
Try this, hopefully this will put you back to stock and you can try again
Cheers pal ill give this a try tomorrow. You're a legend!
And to the 90 views I don't mind as said its my own fault and can't blame the people who had ideas bet they get this all the time usually from noobs who require babysitting through the process ...
Anyways fingers crossed
Ok so its not working im getting the error in the following picture if anyone can help......
firstly sp flash tools just searches for the com port / usb when the battery is not installed ive tried various build of sp flash with the same results.
when i insert the battery it finds com 5 or 6 and goes to 100% of the red progress bar then i recieve the following error

Try downloading this rom
http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/S4-6577_AIRGESTURE_I950X_V101En20130627.rar
You may to need to register with needrom
That ROM is the default MTK6577 Rom with air gestures
Do as i instructed earlier, extract the rom from zip, this time rename the folder as it contains special characters which may throw of SP Tools
i.e rename folder S4จาง6577_AIRGESTURE_I950X_V101En20130627 to mtk6577 or something.
Then load the scatter file, hit download and insert cable again with no battery , see if that runs now
also , here are the MTK6577 drivers if required
http://androidurdu.com/download/MT6577%20USB%20VCOM%20drivers.rar
Ok so.......
again nothing without the battery installed just keeps searching and nothing.
witht the battery in it flashed got the green circle and everything.
but when i power up the phone i get a white display with black lines down centre.... occasional color bit
same screen when i try to enter recovery
meh not got my hopes up aswell
thnaks for the help guys really appreciate
is it worth trying to flash anything else or should i give up.....
OK don't panic.
First you should know there's plenty of S4 clones out there (HDC Galaxy S4, HDC Spark, Meso S4, unidentified Dual SIM S4 clone, etc., etc.).
Second you have to be 100% sure your system is properly set up.
If you or a friend of you has another MTK (better if MTK6589) smartphone check if everything works properly (drivers, flashing, etc.).
If not install everything properly and in a clean Windows partition without 300 USB drivers and devices.
Once you are done with what written above come back and we will see.
In the meantime upload a pic of the backside without cover and battery, but please be sure to hide the printed IMEI number.

after a few moments the start up wizard starts but after few steps crashes and restarts!
EDIT
I powered off, it won't start again, I guess overheated again! so I removed battery, what should I do now?

You mean flash it with another rom?
I guess I try : MIUI v5 3.9.20 Unofficial Port [4.1.1]
You don't have to flash a new ROM, I just told you to flash another kernel (say: boot.img). Just choose one from Original Android Development Section.
sorry for inconvenience!
I found this kernel "fulmix.Kernel #3" (it has the same name "fulmix")
according to my situation how am I supposed to install it?
this is from the mentioned thread (which I don't understand the proceture!) :
Go into adb/fastboot directory
Put the fulmix.Kernel#xx.img in that directory
Open CMD and type: "fastboot flash boot fulmix.Kernel#xx.img"
Reboot

I forgot to mention that I followed this instruction for rooting and installing rom:

It's a directory on your PC, where you have to have the fastboot / adb binaries installed. Just download one of the boot.img installers to be found in ROM threads and replace the boot.img in it with fulmix kernel img.

revert back to ur nandroid backup then.. or if u dont have it then wipe data and reinstall the rom
I re-installed the same rom, the same thing happened, then I held down the power button and activated "Airplane Mode" and this time I could finish the start-up wizard!
cool rom but it fails to use sim service! (sim card service is off, no sim)
should I install another rom?
My "Desire X" has 2 sim card slots, will I be able to use them both in case of a successful rom installation? 'cause I noticed there is no option in setting for two sim services,
and I don't have a Nandroid backup.
I think my problems are due to my Desire x being ' two-sim ' !
You should have said before that you are using dual sim version of Desire X! Now your problems are obvious, because the ROMs in this forum are for single sim version of Desire X only! They owrk for dual sim version sometimes, but there are bound to be problems because hardware is a bit different between these phones.
I didn't back-up my rom, now guess I should google for time machine! :crying:
