You have got to be kidding me. Touch Pro2 keyboard is good for what it is.
Just found this on the web but not sure if it will work with TP2... Need to dig deeper on this. Another other recommendation?
you could have just bought a diamond 2 and used that :O
or a HD would have been sensible but you want 3 keyboards/!? Madness!

could someone tell me what cellphone is that on those pictures?
I can tell you what won't work. The Apple Wireless keyboard, even though it goes beautifully with it. And the Freedom Universal.
If anyone can find a way of getting them to work with it I will be most grateful.

Any issues?
I've only used it twice but I think there might be some probs
The first time I used it, it was fine. Second time, it was fine and then a few mins in, I couldn't get any of the symbols to work (so I'd just get 1 instead of ! and 0 instead of ) etc).
Got a new tp2 this afternoon (the one from other other day had probs) and have yet to charge it and try it out again. Will post back after I do...

It was a good thing I checked back. I was really close to purchasing one, no joke, but I'll wait to see if the issues stated are resolved with the new device.
ok, tried the keyboard again and it works BUT I get that strange thing happening with the numbers. It only happens when I slide my screen out, when i slide it back and have it in the closed position, the keyboard works fine again and I can use the symbols easily. When I slide it out, all of the symbols on the numbers stay as numbers when I press shift+number.
I agree why bother with a built-in keyboard...
I used to have a BT keyboard for my ipaq... I believe it was made by Think Outside, also had the mouse.
Using an external keyboard isn't that unthinkable. I think the built-in keyboard is great when you're on the go but at my work place, they block IM communications and having an external keyboard is great when paired with an IM-client on the phone. I'm pretty quick with typing with my thumbs on a hardware keyboard, but it's nowhere near the speed I can type when using my other fingers. That time spent typing adds up when chatting with multiple people who may be responding to you from a computer

I have to give great credit to No2Chem over at PPCGeeks for putting together a solution to the issue with our CDMA landscape keyboard backlights shutting down after 5 seconds.
I diligently worked on CAB file that keeps the keyboard on all the time when the keyboard is open, and shuts off when you close it.
Here is the link to the Thread.

Didn't work for me...
OUTSTANDING!
It requires a soft reset before it will work.
That explains it... I lost all my stylus so cant reset anymore
shutting off the phone is like doing a soft reset... hold the power button in for 4 seconds then it will confirm shutoff, then power on you just did a soft reset.

you can use a paperclip, or ballpoint pen, or just download the softreset CAB installer and that will give you a button under programs to do a software soft-reset, no need to press the button

At first I was gona correct you for correcting him, but then I remember the TP comes with two styli. haha
Finally, I can use my keyboard in the dark with fear of hitting the wrong key! By the way, is there a way to stop the keyboard from coming up on the screen every time I have to type something?!
Anybody else get the issue of the front keys staying on when the keyboard is in?

Yeah i wasn't necessarily correcting him, I just knew it sounded funny, but so does styli. was just wondering what you call those!
if you need a stylus just go in and ask, I bet they give you one. I get so much free stuff from a friend bc they can take what people return. I get battery covers and batteries. I have 3 sitting on my dresser now.

It seems I remember a setting in advanced config for "SIP Auto Deploy" that did the trick for me. I know I got it fixed (except in Opera), I just don't remember exactly how. So there's an answer out there if you look hard enough.
Can anyone explain why this interferes with the keyboard sliding sounds? Right now, if I use this, the sliding sounds won't work, but if I remove this, they work just fine.
i second that.....
on screen keyboard ? by rdar369,but then remembered the setting philipdhall mentioned and he's right ,want to try this cab file but read some where as well about the keys staying lit after closed and dont have an extended battery to spare the juice ,if i do try i will repost my findings
Hey guys, I just got my touch pro last week and now the keyboard wont work. No drops or water damage. It wont light up or anything. I dont want to have to go back to the sprint store, so if u guys have any suggestions that would be awesome. Thanks.
Sorry
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I had the same thing happen to me. I spent probably a combined total of 8 hours on the phone with different people before I got any kind of solution. I couldn't find anything online. I was out of the initial Sprint Warranty. So Sprint said, sorry, you're gonna have to pay for a whole new device. That wouldn't work, the device was just 3 months old. So I called HTC, and at first they said there was nothing they could do either, until I talked to one person who forwarded me to PCD. They were able to fix it, for free under warranty, they replaced some RFID tag (IDK what that meant, it was in this checklist of tests they sent back) and sent the phone back. All I had to pay was shipping to their Repairs center. The bad thing was, it took them 3 weeks to work on it (only 4 days were shipping there and back). I hope I have been helpful, and I am sorry about the bad news. I know the feeling.
Hey, i had the same problem but i went to sprint and change my device, the new one works perfect, my advice go back and change it.

Not much but maybe
Had one that same thing happened. Performed hard reset and corrected it maybe temp fix though but it worked so far about a week of good use so far.
I had the same thing on my Verizon Pro, what I found was (I took mine apart) was that the cable had came loose from it's connector, I just had to reseat it and works perfect. By the way I bought it that way (got a great deal because it didn't work).

I have the same keyboard problem...it doesn't work most of the time, but once in a blue moon it will....the keyboard lights come on, but no input from keys work....so is that still a connector issue you think? Did you keyboard backlight come on?
2nd question: How do I open my TP?
Thanks.

I am not sure if my keys lite up or not, it has been a while, but it sounds to me like a possible connection issue with it being intermittent.
happened to me twice hopefully tp2 fixes this little issue.
same problem!!! just go to sprint, they can fix the problem... "they changed my keyboard"!!!
yah me too, i took my touch pro back to Sprint and they changed the whole touch screen part of the phone for me in 45 mins and for some reason that fixed the keyboard as well, so i guess the problem is in the touch-screen part of the phone, not the keyboard itself
Try this. Take out the battery and pinch extremely hard on the space button to re-seat the keyboard cable.
I'm not completely sure if it will work as I got my phone replaced before I found this fix.
Try it and let me know if it helped any.

Genius! However, i am not. Your solution worked, however i fear it may be a temporary solution? I want to get this fixed while under warranty and dumb ol' me fixing it, well, now i won't have anything to show the sprint store

go to your phone carrier.
demand a NIB replacement. (new in box)
it states in the manufacturing warranty that you get a NIB replacement for the keyboard. it's a known problem, tell them to call the tech department or htc tech support and they will tell the rep the same thing.
Don't leave without a NEW replacement.
Don't take a refurb(mailed out) replacement.

I call BS on that one. lol.
I did it... removed bat', piched key b'. it now works... eeeeeeeeyesss
Got a 0 hour touch pro less than 2months, keyboard started lagging since 2 weeks ago, then extra spaces and duplicate letters and finally died after a charging session in a hot weather day.
Removed battery and press spacebar top and bottom very hard to resit the keyboard connector fixed the issue.
Same happened to me on my Alltel CDMA Touch Pro after having owned it for about 4 weeks. It would also not shut off the screen backlight. Was very odd. Luckily, my Alltel store is literally across the alley from my house, so I ran a full backup using Sprite Backup, walked over there, and they swapped it out for a new phone within 10 minutes. Took me another 45 minutes to restore the backup, but wasn't nearly as bad as sending it away for several weeks to be repaired.
check out my custom ATT Touch Pro 2!!!
Awesome! Where'd you get the keyboard? How hard was it to swap the keyboard?

Pretty cool mod, but I like the AT&T keyboard just fine.
Those look great! Do you know if everything on the Tilt2 can be swapped or is it limited to just the keyboard? I saw a light blue housing on ebay and am so tempted to get it. I just need to muster up the courage.

Well it pretty much 50/50 some people like that ATT layout some people like the HTC style layout. I personally like the numbers across the top. I did the same thing when I had a HTC Fuze by changing the keyboard to the numbers across the top instead of ATT style. But anyways to each their own.

You get the cred for being the first for the Tilt2! (Here anyway)
This was a must do - I often switch back and forth between typing text and numbers, and what inevitably happens is I manage to forget I pressed Fn, so when I try to type back arrow, the comm manager opens, then I have to close it...by then I've lost my train of thought...
I really like the look of your the darker version, although my favorite is the US Cellular!
Where did you find all the parts? And after that, how did you do it (a guide or something)?
Because I just spent half-an-hour looking up OEM/HTC Touch Pro 2 keyboard on Google and Ebay and got nothing.
(Mainly looking for the silver keyboard you have)

You know I have 2 or 3 more - installation was incredibly simple. Basically the keypad is "stuck" on. You remove the clear plastic on the back and stick it in place. You need something thin to carefully "pry" the old one out. A business card works to pry far enough to work a fingernail under. Here are a couple of pics of the sticker backing.
I am about to purchase a tilt2 and like this mod. How are you guys editing the key assignment?

You have to use the Rhodium Keyboard config. Install that and you are good to go.
If you flash a custom rom the keys are good to go.
I'd love to get a T-Mobile US keyboard set. You didn't have to remove any screws or anything to do this?
tilt2 keyboard
I like the different look.
If I get one of those keyboards - BTW the pictures you posted (of the kb) are better than the orig one that came with the phone... I like the numbers across the top, and don't have to hit another key to enter a number... How does the software recognize the new kb. How do you get it to work since it is a different hardware on the unit?
Thanks.

Hi all! I have a brand new LG Optimus One, but I think it has a problem. When I tap on the screen or write a message and tap on one letter, sometimes the screen respond 2-3 or more taps (want to write "word", but when i pres the "D" it goes "wordddd". Does anyone have the same problem or? Thanks a lot!
P.s. Sorry for my poor english
Same here..
I have the same problem too but i think it happens more often with gingerbread keyboard. The lg keyboard lags little more than default android keyboard. I think I'll stick with swype for now

Can it be something with the stock protection foil?
Or may be i must go to the shop and return it
I removed the foil and still has the issue. I haven't tried other keyboards. Using the default LG Keyboard.

I am with the default keyboard too. Its very annoying, when the vibration is ON and when i just touch a letter...it's vibrating for 2-3 seconds.. Today i will try to go to the mobile shop and i will write after my visiting there.
Same here, I believe this is normal behavior, you have to remember that this phone has an entry level touch screen, so you can't except much from it. There are other problems with the keyboards as well related to touch. For example, in the Gingerbread keyboard you can do proper multi-chorded inputs (aka pressing shift + a character to capitalize the character) because of the touch screen quality. Same for pinch to zoom problems.
Download a touch screen test app to see what's really going on and why some things just don't work the way you expect. If you want better touch screen response you should've bought a more expensive phone. I'm happy with my Optimus One since I knew that this is a budget phone and that you can't have high expectations. That said, and knowing how much I paid for it new and unlocked (180€) I'm quite impressed with it's quality.

I am happy with my phone too! But when other people say, that they have no problems, what must i think about? I am from Bulgaria and here 180$ are not little money
So i went to the market and i played with the sample... It has the same "problem" )) So now I think, that all of this is because of my big fingers and "don't know how to touch" This is my first touchscreen phone and may be this is why i woried about. So thanks all for the answers, now i am a bit more calm! Great wishes for the NEW YEAR to all! Bye!
No problems with original android keyboard same as with SmartKeyboard Pro
Try to change to a different type of keyboard first and change back maybe after about 2-3 mins.
same problem
Hello folks!!
I have the same ptoblem with my touchscreen but only when i plug the usb cable to charge ...any solution?
it happens because of the touch screen lag bug. there is too much cpu usage when the touch screen is tapped.
that is why when you try to type fast using lg or android keyboard you will experience such problems.
this problem is not there with swype since you don't have to tap on the keys to type.
there is a touch screen bug fix and that will solve the problem.
I wish optimus one didn't have so many problems.
Im not too familiar with LG, havent owned a phone of theirs in years. Im just wondering, has their auto correction always been this bad? This is one of the worst phones ive used for auto correction, its not catching many of the mistakes at all. I switched to Gboard and it fixed the auto correction issue but then i lose all the dual screen festures of the LG keyboard.
Ive tried every setting trying to get it right and nothing works. After typing a whole paragraph out I have to go back and make many many manual corrections which is very time consuming. Any input would be very helpful, thank you.
Okay so I figured out what's going on. The autocorrect works, it prepared the word properly and will replace it with the corrected word, but only if you type slow, lol. If you type at full speed, it can't prepare the corrected word fast enough to get it ready before you hit the space bar. Lol what a joke. What a worthless keyboard it is. How can LG let something leave the factory like this? And if you do some reading it seems that every phone they've released since 2014 has had this issue. No wonder their sales are always in the tank.... Get it together LG
The absolutely amazing news is that Gboard was JUST UPDATED THIS MORNING!! And now fully supports the dual screen functionality of the device. So switch immediately and never look back if you get this phone.
Well Gboard doesn't work 100% right. The keyboard now works in the "wide view" mode, but it doesn't work when using dual screen. With dual screen, when you have the phone in landscape and attempt to type something on the top screen, the entire bottom screen becomes a keyboard, this is when using the LG keyboard. With Gboard it will open up a keyboard on the top screen, which is impossible to type on with your thumbs.
So sad.
