I have MDA Vario II, aka Herm300, aka Tytn ... My problem is that I've got "No GSM". So I got in forum and checked how to try to Fix it threads... So I tried by putting "Hard-SPL" and also I've tried to Upgrade "Radio", but every time when I start upgrade I recieve "Error 262" at 0%, I changed several Radio's but I had always same result. Also I've tried to downgrade to Official Rom of WM5 and it stops at 13% witn "Error 262" . So my Question is:
Is it possible that I have hardware problem not radio problem .
ATM it works fine with Schap's ROM as PDA and "No Gsm" Again ...
On Bootloader I got:
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.40.Olipro
If there is another solution that may help I'm open for advice.

wich one is the 262 error. (why to put the error number? write the entirely error!)
Dunno if it is brick, because I cant update with most of the roms and also I get error with every radio I try to update with ... I've tried with more than 10 radio's from the archive ...
P.S. I think it is Hardware problem + I got brick and because of the hardware problem i cant reinstal rom+radio or rom to repair brick problem ...
So wich one is the error??????
error 206 207 200768 i dont know...i have this issues too and the cprog.exe seems to be incompatible ... my cable hasnt a good contact to the usb plus the rom i had i didnt downgrade to wmoriginal in a few times...

Hi I have the same phone a T-Mobile MDA Vario II i ran unlock program HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a - i must have run it wrong or something cause my phone has colours on the screen red green blue white with the ipl 1.01and spl 1.40 - it used to ipl 1.4 (ithink) and spl 2.14(i think) before i tried to run the hct_herm.....v3a.
Is my phone trashed or what can i do . when i plug in the usb cable the message at bottom goes from serial to usb but thats it - the active sysnc does not see the phone. help help help any advice welcome ( short of buy a new phone) this is my new phone i only got it a day ago.

I tried to flash 1.43.00.00 radio on to my hermes and it got to 0% and had an error (error had a 2 in it and was 3 numbers i think) I now have my hermes with tri colour screen
i had updated to scaps rom using mr vanx's online tutorial and installed the rom, hard spl and radio version provided there. I'd had a bad install though and it left me with a damaged security area i think which meant i was given the original imei and it was barred.
I then tried to install radio 1.43.00.00 but it failed as i said before i now have the tri colour screen and i tried to plug it in to the usb and the text changes from 'serial' to 'usb' but nothing happens on the pc or when i try and charge it.
I have read through the wiki on bricked hermes but did not undestand which type i had and even then how to fix it.

What I did was download the original WM5 ROM from AT&T (MY provider). As long as your tri-color screen says usb you should be able to run the rom update just fine.
I cant remember if I went to file / connectionsettings/ and unchecked "allow usb settings" or not. but long story short you can not load a cooked rom while its in this state. Reload the Rom then the Radio and you should be good to go.

I've a big problem.
During a radio update my tytn crashed, so i can enter only in the bootloader, nothing else.
I have in the bootloader:
Herm100
IPl-1.04
Herm100
SPL-2.10.Olipro
I've tried to flash the originale rom (cingular 8525) but it always stuck at 12% with error 262.
Also activesync doesn't work, when i put the usb cable on pc-pda the icon remain grey, not becoming green...
Any hope to revive my pda?

I've tried to flash schaps 3.54b (microsd method) and now windows mobile works.
the remained problem is the radio, when i boot the device i read:
R: NONE
G: NONE
bad sign?
Yep... Search for another thread here with radio problems i think that happens with 1.54 radio roms
I've never encountered a problem with the radio rom 1.54.xx.xx.
The "No GSM" error is nigh well impossible to fix. No-one I know has a lasting fix. There are 2 causes, I believe, that may be the culprit.
1). The radio rom memory area is corrupted... - Give up now, there is no help, You need a new motherboard.
2). The antenna has a problem. If you replace the antenna attached to the motherboard this may fix the problem. I did this.
Either way you will need to find a cheap Hermes. I picked up a couple on ebay and salvaged the parts I needed for fairly cheap. I bought "broken" or "faulty" Jasjams. Using them for spare parts I fixed my Hermes and a friends Hermes so they both still work, it was worth it to save my precious phone... Just a thought..,

I had the same problem and have never been solved so I gave up and and I bought me another. I still had the old hermes, so if someone knows how to solve this... I'll be really hapy!

hi all, hope someone can help, been reading threads for days and this is about my fifth xda so i'm no newb.
it's an i-mate jamin i got for my father, ipl/spl 2.13.0001 (G4) bought second hand from ebay, seems to work fine running wm5 os 2.13 but won't send text messages, didn't think much of it since i was planning to upgrade to wm6.1, unfortunately NO KNOWN METHOD WORKS.
Here's what i've tried:
Two different windows xp computers, two different cables, re-install activesync, hard reset, multiple connection retries.
PDAViet temp step 1 from OS and Bootload, most common error is [264], tried NVID wm5, tried official IPL 2.20.0001 upgrade and official i-mate ROM, tried jump/soft/hard SPL, all go to white bootload screen but no further, sometimes the green LED will flash as a radio signal on this white screen but usually nothing.
It seems very much to me like the bootloader is not responding, can someone please tell me when you put the phone in the bootloader and plug the usb cable in, after it has said USB, if you then unplug the cable should the USB text dissapear? because on mine it remains..
when running hardspl.bat the only error on the script is;
cerun: program could not execute (0), after trying to run jumpspl, altho it DOES go into the white screen and just sit there, yes i've tried pressing the camera button.
I'm fresh out of ideas here! help please!
when i run Prophet_G4_IPL_v2.20.0001.exe after a hard reset (sticks on bootloader and give [264]) but before that it says upgrade from 1.2.0.0 to 2.20.
That first number doesn't seem right? is it possible the previous owner flashed a G4 ipl onto a G3 device? and how would I tell?
Hello, I am in serious trouble! I got a brand new HTC Athena with Windows Mobile 5.0. I succesfully upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6.0.
All was OK.
Than I was interested to move into Windows Mobile 6.1 and possibly 6.5. At first I did the Athena unlock (3 step process) and all went OK: Antenna 1.5.0, SPL 1.2 OLI....
THAN I DID MY ERROR! I try to upgrade my 6.0 ROM with the Micky 6.1 cooked file with SPL 3.5. After a 92 percent upgrade, the ROM crashed and now I always get a nasty black screen with few lines (No 3 color bands!). When I try to upgrade again the same ROM or ROM for SPL 1.2 I get an error (ID mismatching). I guess the only solution is a hard and full reset of the Windows. But doing only a hard reset with the PDA will NOT change my error message and I will keep see this nasty black screen and I cannot load the Windows ActiveSync application-
I am totally lost. Help please. Any tool for a true full restore/recover??? (I did NOT make any backup!).

In my case my HTC Athena crashed the Windows 6 ROM while I was attempting to upgrade, after unlocking the phone, the Athena from version 6.0 to version 6.1

this is also to repair your bootloader-infos
if you look at your bootloaderscreen, you will see ATHE100, IPL, ATHE100, SPL. if not, you have to repair it
make sure you flashed the right rom, spl 1 or 3.5
How can the bootloader get repaired?
yes use that link, post #33. fixes both wifi and modelid problems and bootloader problems when you got stuck at 92% of the flashing process.
Cannot re flash ROM
Please help! I tried the unlocker and it failed at 92% and since then I have no WM6. Then I tried to flash the Michy WM6.5 and that failed. I was getting model id errors so I did the mtty and mac1 fix which was succesful. However all I can get now is a grey screen on boot-up. I can get to the bootloader screen and it displays ATHE100, IPL-v2.02, ATHE100, SPL-v1.20. Olipro. From what I have read on the forum at this stage I should run a RUU to flash a WM6 ROM but all that I try can't connect because no OS running to connect with Activesync? Is there a way to flash from the bootloader? The other option seems to be putting an image and flasher on a miniSD but I can't find clear instructions for this or which files?
Please ignore - my battery wasn't charged enough. Replaced battery and recovered device.

PLEASE HELP. It is 3 months with this problem and I cannot use my device.:-(

first, how can I get the mac address of my device? It is NOT written anywhere in the Athena parts (checked in the battery bay and so on.....), and so when I run mtty i am in trouble! I have used a mac address got from my company's manager, but not sure it is ok to use it with the Athena!

Can you tell what you've actually done after you've changed ROM with Mtty?
I done the thing with Mtty but just as you described when I reset it now I still get the grey screen. And if I try to update ROM it fails again on 92%
where did you find the upgrade from wm5 to wm6?

what ROM are you trying to start? I was stuck on HTC logo too, when I tried to start a ROM without installing Striped ROM first, which was highly needed. So I done hard reset(three color screen), and flashed again.
For starters, put in bootloader, connect to PC (1st untick "Allow USB Connections" in activesync) and run Hard SPL V7. Install it on your Herms and hope it works because otherwise you are in for a whole heap of hairpulling frustration...
If you get Hard SPL onto your Hermes then use the sd card method to flash a new rom...
You could have avoided this by doing a little research instead of going full pelt into flashing, you Hard SPL BEFORE you get into trouble, NOT AFTER....

I have a similar problem with a T-Mobile branded TyTn from a friend of mine who thought flashing ROMs without putting device into HardSPL would be clever.
The devices has also IPL-1.04 and SPL-2.03 and from the bootscreen it looks like WM5 should have been installed. I also get the "NO GSM" message and I REALLY tried every fking method but without success.
I even created a Goldcard (and verified on another device it's working, level 0 instead FF) and tried to flash several ROMs (also Cingular WM5 ROM and original german T-Mobile ROM) but no luck.
I also tried to run HardSPL V7 but as far as I remember it just said it cannot connect.
Funny thing: HardSPL V9 DOES start flashing and on the PDA and the PC the bar shows 100% but some moments later it says "Could not update" (or something like that).
I even tried different mtty methods from several posts from the forum (erasing the NAND on different ways, qtek loader method with erasing the first blocks) but I'm really really frustrated now and I believe there is no solution here?! (device has no guarentee)
So, if someone has ANY hint or useful information write it down or send me a PM.
I gladly appreciate your help and hope for a solution!
