When I got my Hero from Devicewire, it came with HTC branded screen protectors. Is anyone using these and are they worth it?
I never used one on my Diamond and it got a few scratches, but nothing that out of the ordinary given I had it for a year.

Your very lucky as I never got one with my phone, Orange didn't provide anything other then the bare minimum.
I want to get one of those mirror screen protectors just because it looks cool

Haha, I know exactly what you mean.
Kinda daft that these don't come with one, first HTC I've had that didnt.
I'm sure there will be some cheap ones on ebay soon
Just ordered the SP P260 screen protectors (Official HTC Hero)
Twin pack, I'm probably going to mess up the first one on application aswell
Can someone give a link? I'd love a decent quality anti glare one tbh.
**EDIT** Well, I found the 'official HTC twin pack' on eBay for £7.95.
fitted the HTC one
omg.....i fitted it .....1st time no problems
and i have no air bubbles
if you want the other one....pm me....ill take £5 (paypal) and ill post it to you
as they cost me £11.50 inc. p+p for the two
hmm, there are loads of really cheap protectors on ebay, ~£2
I'm uncertain if its any good though....
Link to items on ebay
I got 2 universal ZAGG InvisibleShield from "Phones 4U" for just 8£. Cropped the protector to the right size, applied it to the screen and BAM! Now my Hero is virtually unscratchable
Seriously, don't buy anything else. The ZAGG protectors are the best I've seen in a long time.
What about the oleophobic coating?
The screen is supposed to have this super amazing coat that wipes smudges really easily, applying a screen protector doesn't defeat the purpose of having such a coating?
Can anyone post a picture of their Hero with the screen protector just to see how nice it is?
The screen protector defeats the purpose of the coating for sure - it may protect it, but it gets covered in prints!
Screen protectors
LOL not to upset to many peeps but got a set from play.com for £4.99 inc free del arrived yesturday and very easy to apply. Think they are good theng extra protection i now screen is coated but would not wat to test it with keys in pocket of some thing abrisive like the floor lol

Yup, that's what I got. Easy to apply, one spare...
I bought the pack of SP 260 screen protectors and I am undecided as to whether I should use them. What is the point of having a specially coated screen if you cannot reap the benefits? Technology surely exists to be enjoyed and not hindered through over-pampering? Furthermore, unless the protectors are anti-glare, they may actually introduce problems. Having said all that, I totally get why protecting an expensive product like the Hero may supercede utilising a screen that is fingerprint resistant.
It's a tricky one but I think I may just throw caution to the wind and leave the phone as it is.
I have, as with all my previous devices, ordered from the excellent netimes website these http://www.netimes.com/shop/clear-screen-protector-for-htc-hero-x-10-p-2201.html Great price, easy fit screen protectors

Brando has also screenprotectors available, don't know results yet because it is on its way, but had a brando on my Tytn2 for several years without a problem

Hi,
My new Hero phone is the first one I've owned that has a capacitive screen, and I'm wondering if there's a preferred screen protector. They're quite expensive so I don't want to buy the wrong one.
Thanks in advance.
yup, HTC do a specific one themselves, which would make the most sense. I'm not going to bother with mine, though.

if by chance you're in the UK, I'll sell you mine a bit cheaper; got one of those packs free with the handset; still sealed.
PM me if iinterested; apols if not.
Hi Cdmackay,
Thanks for your reply. I am in the UK, but is there any particular reason why you're not going to use a screen protector on your Hero? Does it reduce sensitivity, for instance? How much do you want for your protectors?
Cheers.
Pick the Invisible Shield.
www.zagg.com - Best screen protectors.
Myself, I wont use a screen protector since its always completely alone in my pocket Ill just get a cover/case for it
Personally, I find Zagg screens tricky to apply - the spray is so clumsy and risky to use! There is company that make screen protectors for Apple products that use static to apply the protectors, these are very easy to apply and look invisible when applied. Only problem being that they only make protectors for Apple products...

I don't know, to be honest; I figured it might. I'd rather just have mine in a case.

I don't find Zagg Invis. Shields hard to apply at all - but the one thing I find with them is that they are too "tacky" and less smooth when you try to slide your finger/thumb against it. I prefer the slickness of the glass screen so when I had my iPhone 3G I used PowerSupport Crystal Clear screen films which felt pretty much the same as not having anything on the screen. I hope that some third-party manufacturers start making screen protectors similar to these for the Hero.
My vote goes for the Martin fields screen protector.
Very smooth like glass feel, great size and fit and comes with a protector for the camera lens. I don't notice any reduction in touch responsiveness.
I also had the official HTC one but didn't like them cos I found that it got very fine scratches and the fit was a fraction too big - would keep lifting at the edges cos of the case I use.
Go for the Martin fields. Expensive but worth it in my. Opinion

Well there are so many and it would be impossible to say this or that is the best because everyone using that particular brand etc will be biased
If you want hands down a great product then Exim has always been a leader and Ebay is the place to get it if you dont want to pay ridiculous amounts.

I have been using screen protector since p800 days. Had tired and tested many including the famous brands like claverique and so on.
THe best one i found is from martin field from overlayplus.com
I had it on my p910i for around 3 years and not a single scratch. I have used it ever since on my htc handsets and iphone too and i will never go to any other brand.
Cons. they are much more expensive and they ship from singapore and so takes more than a week for delivery. The kit has only one screen protector and so make sure u apply them correctly.
which one at Overlay...
http://www.overlayplus.co.uk/modeldevice.asp?category=HTC&prod_type=screen
I don't see the Touch HD in their list
Installed and am very impressed. Gives the device a RUBBERY feel. I ordered the Full Body shield, and the part that covers the touch screen is great. I was concerned that touch sensitivity would be lost...contrary, it seems to work better!

I put the kit on mine yesterday. It is kind of a pita, but worth it in the end. Plus, allegedly, lifetime replacement.

As long as you order through their website and you send back the damaged cover, they are pretty good about the warranty, however you still have to pay shipping. I hosed mine up installing it because it was for the Topaz and not the Pure which has a little different shape, and they replaced it.
When I installed mine, I powered it down and removed the battery, as you are to have the shield wet on both sides. I only had one piece that I had to remove and reinstall the following day, and that was no problem. I will admid that it was a PITA to install, I'm a tad older than most people playing with this phone and my eyesight ain't what it used to be, so the little pieces were a bit difficult for me, but I got 'er done!
Hi,
I'm considering to buy one of these full body protectors for my Touch Diamond2. I'm really confused because there are many of them and there are many reviews which say very different things. The first thing I noticed is that "wavy" effect. I could live with is if it was only on the back cover but it seems that the effect is on the screen too. The second thing is that it actualy doesn't cover whole device, it left the corners uncovered and I really don't want to have a 1 mm uncovered space on the edges of the screen.
So now I have original HTC screen cover on and I'm very satisfied with it and it seems to me that it is the best screen cover. However, there is no cover for the back so I need to buy one.
I found these full body protectors and I really don't know which to choose:
1. InvisiebleSHIELD of course http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-touch-diamond-2-gsm-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php have seen very different statements
2. GadgetShieldz http://www.gadgetshieldz.com/htc-touch-diamond-2-protective-skins-screen-protectors-covers-cases-shields.html some say better then IS some worse
3. Ghost Armor http://www.ghost-armor.com/htc/htc-touch-diamond-2/prod_279.html?review=read didn't see much reviews for Diamond 2 so if any of you have any experience with it please tell me
So can you please recomend me which one is the best option?
Thanks
i've been using invisible shield for about 2 months now. if you install it right, it's a great product. about a month ago i had some software problems on my at&t pure and it required me to send it back for warranty. that's when i learned that zagg's warranty doesn't just cover damage, it also covers if you have to send you're phone back for repair. they'll send you a new fully body cover as long as you remove the old one and send it back. don't know much about other phone protectors, but why would i need to if zagg is doing a great job? (and no i don't work for zagg, i just like their product)n
I installed the screen protector and will be sending it back. As far as protection, it appears to perform very well. Unfortunately my finger jumps across the screen and will not glide. The orange peel effect is horrible. Anyone thinking about getting this should use it for the full cover and not for the screen protector. I used to use cellet for my screen covers but my local Fry's didn't have one for my Pure so I tried zagg. I've ordered the 3 pack from Att, so we'll see, only $10 and free shipping. Will report back later.

I've had one on for a while now. It does take about an hour to put on. After a few months, it's starting to peel off. I suppose I can send it back in for replacement, but it's an effort.
While its great to have rubber sides for grip. On my screen it should be damn smooooth.
Now to find one I like.
i just tried the ZAGG Invisible Shield on my pure.
The install was simple.
I do not like the protector at all, it has a rubbery texture that makes the stylus stick, skip, and jump. it also has a very bumpy(orange peel) finish to it.
I am sending it back and getting a couple of three packs of the protectors from at&t, they are cheap and slick.
Hey all,
I am in touch with the people at xoskins.com for a screen skin for the g tablet. I have sent dimensions and photos and they are in progress on the design. This would not be a dry application protector that has air bubbles and peels up around the edges. Their protectors go on extremely well. I have put them on several devices with a lot of success. One has been on my phone for a year and it still is all the way down around the edges.
When I get mine, I can post some shots of it. Hopefully we can generate some interest so they can make more.
How much did you pay ?
Nothing yet, but I am guessing it will be $20. I also just saw the skinomi one for $15 shipped in the US. They look to be pretty much identical. The packaging and spray are almost the same as the xoskins I have gotten before (just different graphics).
This screen protector skin is now available on xoskins.com for $18 using the code tabletprotector20. as soon as mine comes in i can post some pictures. like i said before, these have worked great for me in the past on othe devices. btw, I'm not getting kickbacks or anyhing, just spreadin the word.

Just wanted to update that I got my xoskin. It is very much like the skinomi tech skin. I can hardly tell the difference. To me, I like the xoskin a bit better, I like the screen feel of it a bit better. Also, you can still get it for $20 shipped with the code from above.

Which is 30% more than the skinomi , not sure if the difference in the texture would warrant the difference in price.
That said, its good to know there are other comparable alternatives there (once skinomi jacks up the price again or terminate their coupon).

Screen Protector-Don't buy the military grade
I purchased some of these "military" grade screen protectors for the Evo 4g, but they really sucked to put on. So I searched on Amazon and ordered a matte one made by Aurum.
It's made from Japanese PET, which "supposedly" is the best, Got it a few days ago and it fit perfectly, more importantly there is no loss in sensation or sliding ability as it says. So I am happy, now I need a TPU case for it.

I see this is the same picture posted on amazon. How does it fit ? I can't see any cutting for the camera/sensors, do it cover the touch area or the whole bezel ?
Thanks,
No cutout for the camera/sensor, I put on the matte and it makes no difference that I can see. The Aurum screen protector on Amazon covers the ENTIRE bezel, so all the glass is covered (has the rounded edges for a tight tight fit). I attached a photo, don't judge me by my poor installation . All I care about is the smooth scrolling, and this achieves it, in my opinion.
I just saw they have a free shipping deal when you buy two.
Interested in drag component...
of the aforementioned protectors. The XOskin, Aurum, and Skinomi. Almost set to get a skinomi, but one complaint by some people is finger drag. How about the protectors the 2 of you have got? I'd almost forgo a protector if it's not going to give me a smooth surface. Thanks..
at least the XOskin HAVE the holes for the camera ans led flash and Aurum and Skinomi doesn't.

I was unaware that there was a flash for the G-Tablet, could you let me know where that might be .
As for the question above I can attest to the Aurum screen protector having very little finger drag(thats why I like it) and as to not having camera holes, well the 1.3 megapixel camera is not exactly great(I never use it). I use mine to browse the web, so finger drag is my main concern.
Aurum has a crystal clear one I think.....this will solve any camera issues. The link is below

I got the xo skins gtab screen protector There are cutouts for the camera and light sensor.. The install took me two minutes. Steamed up my bathroom after reading some install reviews to drop the dust out of the air. Ill post a full review on here in a bit.
New Protector with Stylus
I have purchased another screen protector for my G-Tab, this time the camera cutout was present, as before it was simple to apply, peel and stick type of application. I chose to go with the clear one this time, because I began to use a stylus with my tablets which I LOVE. The protector is simply a safety measure to prevent any accidental scratches.

This is the one I have, beyond all believe this thing is unbelievably well made.
I cannot express that I have had this single screen protector since May, it has absolutely zero scratches on it, I haven't had to re apply it, even though it comes off and can be put back on instantly.
It's anti glare too. I'll have to charge my camera to take a picture to do this thing justice. the clear material is made out of something like 100x stronger than the black stuff on the edges. I have scuffs and scratches on the protector on the plastic areas, but they are tiny and almost impossible to see since its black on black anyway.
I always thought screen protectors just suck in general and would have to get like a "5 pack" to keep chucking them, this thing is one of a kind.
Wow good find, thanks.
If you order two you save a dollar.
Might have to order one now that I got a tiny scratch on this screen....
if you guys order 3 its only $11.25 because we would get an extra 25% off
Edit: it ended up being $12.15 after tax + free shipping

I have one on my HTC vivid. It has a small gap between the protector and the screen. It works well enough, but will cause the occasional phantom touch. The small gap also removes a little clarity when compared to traditional screen protectors. Its not a bad product. The price reduction only makes it better.

Mine came via USPS priority mail today even though AT&T provided a FedEx tracking number in confirmation e-mail. Installation was easy and it seems to be a nice product. Was able to put my Ventiv case on without lifting up corner of screen protector, which happened with both Zaggs I had on phone.
They do that to save money, it's called smart post or something like that.

I buy it, :victory::victory::victory:
What color is it? I just bought it but it didn't let me choose a color. Can someone describe it and maybe post pictures.

What color is what, the screen protector or the case as there are pics at the website when you place the order. The screen protector is translucent primarily and black in the areas of the bezel with "holes" to show the front lights on the bottom face and cutouts for the camera/sensors.
The case is a titanium-like finish aka gunmetal gray basically with the pink and blue inserts (both included).
That's about it.
I got the Moshi screen protector (ordered it Saturday, came about an hour ago), and I had a similar one on an Atrix 2 in 2012 but could never figure out what company made it. As soon as I took this one out of the packaging I realized it was Moshi that made the one for the Atrix 2 so I'm well aware of their quality, and this one for the LGOG is no different. I prefer this kind of screen protector for several reasons: a) no bubbles, and they say that in the marketing info and it's true, there are no bubbles to contend with (although a little dust or whatever can get on your nerves as you try to remove them during the install process), and b) it's a hard piece of whatever material they use so it's easy to remove and reapply (can even be washed if necessary and it'll retain that stickiness for reapplication), and finally c) it's matte and fingerprint proof which is awesome awesome awesome.
Did I say it's awesome?
Anyway, while I'd never pay $25 for one of these, the $5 offer is just too damned good to pass up so if you want something to protect that already tough Gorilla Glass 2 I can't recommend this one from Moshi - for $5, no less - any higher.
Is it possible to use the Moshi screen protector with the body glove case? If not, would it be doable if I trimmed the screen protector?
I can't see why not, the Moshi one is about as thick as a playing card so, it should be just fine as far as I can imagine. It fits almost to the very edge of the glass (like maybe .5mm smaller than the edge of the glass itself), so the case that I have on it right now - a two-piece hard matte black plastic one - fits fine, actually a little more snug because of the thickness of the Moshi protector actually.
