Three days ago, I would flsh my t-mobile mda vario II with wm 6.5 fraom tai. I thaught, the flash was well, but when I made a hard-reset, the mda stopped during booting. I can see the t-mobile start-scree and then the windows mobile-screen, then boot stopped.
I can't get contact with active sync, I can't flash with RuuWrapper. I always got the Error 200.
When I want to flash from SD-Card, I saw at first the 4 colour screen then a grey screen with loading und the the numbers 00068002, after this the four-colour-screen shows

I want to go to summer-holiday in three days and I want to use the mda as a navigation tool.
So I need your help to reanimate the mda.

Yesterday I use the t-mobile image from the wiki. Update starts but then I got the "Error 294" - wrong vendor-ID. How can I see the vendor-id of the mda?
I need your help, cause I want to go to holiday on friday.

Mate you broke the No.1 rule - HARD SPL YOUR HERMES BEFORE FLASHING.....
Unless you have the original SHIPPED STOCK ROM you won't be able to fix this in a hurry. Why don't people READ anymore, its not like there aren't warnings written EVERYWHERE on this site about Hard SPLing your Hermes...
Hope you can borrow a GPS or you'll need to purchase one as I don't see this getting fixed before Friday.

But how can I get an original shipped stock rom. I've talking with htc and t-mobile. both of them have any ROM for Hermes.
Is there anyone who can help with an original rom?

I have been stupid and once getting my MDA Vario II in the post I ran a sim unlocker from www.buzzdev.com been impatient I ran this through and it crashed at 90%. I then read further that this unlock was not actually for this phone. ( i know I'm and idiot, still kicking myself about this)
Anyway the phone now hangs on the windows mobile splash screen. I've tried getting the sim unlocker from www.imei-checker.co.uk but when entering the stage of pressing the (ok, power, and soft reset) button I can't get the usb signal to come up at the bottom of the tri colour screen to enable me to run the app.
Can anyone give me some pointers to get me out of the stupid mess I've got myself into. I'm sucessfully running the I-mate K-JAM ROM on the MDA Vario and have just upgraded to the VARIO II but have stuffed things up big time.

You used the HTC Universal unlocker and the radio part of your device is trahsed.

You can still boot the device, but GSM will not work because radio is broken.
In order to fix it, try using the "flash from microSD card" method, described in this post:

Which CID does the Vario II have? You should use a NBH with the same CID, but t-mob hasn't released any updates yet... so, try using the TyTN rom, the CID is "QTEK_001" and let me know if it works, otherwise you'll have to wait for a NBH with your CID.

HTC ended up replacing my device as even they couldn't get it to flash over JTAG after someone else had run the 'universal' bootloader.....
To start the device, do a hard reset then soft reset rather than press spacebar to reboot afterwards.
EDIT - I've had trouble with ime-check's unlokcer as well, with a working m3100 - try a different P.C to run it on.

1. I´ve first try flashing a windows mobil 5 rom from my qtek 2020 on the m3100 for 2-3 times
2. then I´ve flas it with the new rom from Cingular ther are using bootloader 1,06..... and IT COME BACK ALIVE....
and if you have a HTC HERMES Then you just find a rom with you phons cid her

2) About your M3100
- Which CID does your hermes have? If it's a M3100 from UK, i guess it is ORANG001, right?
- Which ROM, radio rom and bootloader version did you have on your device when you fixed the problem?

I do not know what the flash didt to my hermes but it seems on usb monitor like it slowly after trying to flash the old 2020 rom 2-3 times went further and further in to the program. the screen turn silver and read USB like on the 2020. Every time it just stop (frozz).
Then I just try the new cirguler rom.

I don´t know what the original rom was I think it was on off the first orange releast I got it 20/7-2006

P.S. now my problem is that I can´t unlock the phone because imei-unlock do not suport bootload 1,06

It's ok, it was original rom from M3100... no problem, no need to upload anything.
If you have dead Hermes try to flash with Hermes_1.18.416.1_1.18.416.101_1.14.00.10_WWE_Ship.exe For me - it`s work.Regards

I have just got an MDA Vario (T-Mobile) its a G4 and i had it happily running core 1.1 which i put on via shelltool.
I just (stupidly) ran the core 2.0 exe as opposed applying it via shelltool - it got 99% the way through, then the progress bar went red and its now stuck on the rainbow coloured boot screen.
Ive just downloaded the t-mobile rom in desperation but it says invalid vendor ID when i try and apply it.... have i killed my new toy?!

You'd better try resetting your device with a tip and putting it in flash mode (pressing the mail button in the meantime).
The T Mobile flasher shouldn't check the device ID this way.

Thanks everyone... the Wizard Love Rom has got my lovely G4 working again... have to say quite like the look of that rom is it worth keeping on as opposed to Core2?
I was using WM6 but found alot of apps (tomtom / co-pilot6) just wouldnt work... which is a shame... how much difference is there between WM5 /6 - is 5 the better option for the Vario due to the age of the unit now?
Please help me. I recently upgraded to the Black satin rom and everything was fine. However the touchscreen on my M3100 has started to go haywire.
After being on for about 5 minutes the touchscreen doesn't work. It seems like the top right hand corner is faulty as the close button keeps being pressed again and again. I think it is probably the phone that is faulty rather than the ROM.
Anyway I need to revert back to the original Orange ROM (WM5) so I can send it back to orange. I've only had the phone about 3 weeks so its still under warranty.
I tried to load the ROM off the orange business website but it errors when trying to load the rom on. I assume I need to downgrade the bootloader thingy.
Any help much appreciated!

I've just tried flashing an original T-Mobile WM5 ROM using MrVanx's guide but it doesn't progress beyond the bootloader page. Instead the update times-out and gives Error 260 - "Cannot connect to PDA"
Getting late (that's when Bad Mistakes Happen lol!) so will come back to it at the w/e I hope. Let us know if you have any luck!

interestingly, I put black satin on my new M3100, and the screen started going. So I put it back to the latest Orange release (from the website) 2.11.61.1, but it was still screwy. Sent it back to Orange, and got a different recodnitioned phone back. They said the ROM was the issue, and the one they gave me had 2.11.61.3 on it. This version is not available for download... has anyone else seen it?
Do orange know what is happening to the screens? Is something getting burnt out? does 2.11.61.3 have a fix?
Well... I'm too scared to put WM6 back on, now, although I really want to. I at least want to wait till I can get hold of the update for 2.11.61.3, and even then, I'm not sure.
I have looked at the downgrade guide but don't really fancy the re-compiling the nbh business.
The strange thing is that if I take the battery out for a couple of minutes, then replace and boot up, the screen works for a while!
Is it worth trying a different rom?

I carried out the steps in the downgrade guide and attempted to flash the resultant rom onto my M3100. It started to update got to 1% and failed with a transfer error!
Now when I turn the phone on it just comes up with the three colour screen!
Have a broke it forever? The screen reads:

Phew! Panic over, I've managed to get the Black Satin rom back onto my phone.
I'm stuck at the screen alignment screen again but at least its got an OS on now!
I still need to load WM5 on tho. I think I'll try re-doing the downgrade guide and see if that helps.
I'm looking at duttys nbh tool and notice that the device id is HERM200. My phone is an M3100 so a HERM100. I'm going to change the value to be HERM 100 and re-compile. Hopefully that was the problem last time!

after a lot of search, finally I got here and read this post...
I encountered the same problem, and I think my phone is 80% dead!
My phone was unlocked, but carelessly, I didn't complete the hard-SPL flash procedure and flash a new ROM directly, so it is dead...
I downloaded an original Orange ROM, but process stopped @4%, and returned "INVALID VENDER ID". Is there anyway that I can flash a new ROM?
Now my phone can enter the rainbow screen only, and it reads:
ONBL 1.08.0000
SPL 1.08.0000
Any experts here can offer a solution? Can I flash rom via SD card, and how? Really really appreciate your help.

This model is already quite old. Not sure if anyone still encounter the same problem. Anyway, I'd like to share how I did it, just in case it still helps you.
The key point is called "HTC Goldcard". It is made of a normal Mini-SD card, but it helps you to get a super-CID in tri-color mode.
Google it to find more details, and I am sure you guy can work it out yourselves. You could PM me as well, if you understand my Chinglish
