Titan Bootloader 1.07 - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I want to install dcd's newest Titan ROM to my phone. I'm just getting everything organized, and my bootloader isn't listed under the "Install the correct bootloader" heading on this page: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
I'm just wondering if anyone knows what I should do with my 1.07 bootloader?

Just boot up into your Current functioning OS and connect to Active sync until icon turns green, then. Now run the Olipro 2.40 unlocked Bootloader and follow its instructions until it comes up saying you must unplug and plug the phone back in. PLEASE dont miss that, DO NOT hit a key to continue UNTIL you have UNPLUGGED the phone waited a moment, then plugged it back in. Then you can hit a key and continue but PAUSE again and minimize that window. Now right click the Active sync icon on your PC's taskbar. Pick connection settings and then look for the Box with Allow USB connections. Clear the box (disable) the usb connections. Then click OK. Now open the window back up and click to continue. That will exit the Bootloader and reset the phone. Now right away UNPLUG the phone and Manually place it in Bootloader Manually. Now PLUG the phone back into the PC. Now flash your Custom ROM and GPS radio 3.35 and up. Hope this helps

Perfect instructions. Thank you very much!
Now...
1. Install the ROM using an ActiveSync connection and running the .exe file from my computer
2. Flash the radio .nbh file using a MicroSD card
3. Run the carrier customization once it's booted
Is this right?

Well everything is right except the Auto Cust. That depends on if you are using a different carrier than the Branding on the phone and its EXT ROM contents. But you got the idea.

Got it done. Thanks a lot for your help!

Totally confused about unlocking Cingular 8525

Apparently, I'm pretty stupid.
I just got the Cingular 8525; I have spent two hours on this site.
Things I've noticed:
One page says go into bootloader; one page says not to allow usb connections.
I do not know if I am supposed to have my non-Cingular SIM card already in the phone when attempting to do anything.
I have seen connect via USB and use mtty (with what settings do I use when I click on USB from the dropdown menu (if any) and do I connect with mtty via USB in bootloader or when the phone has booted into Windows 5.0 and again what about the non-Cingular SIM card?).
I have flashed my computers BIOS several times but I do not understand how to flash this phone based on the myriad of instructions all over this site (and RFTW did not help which is why I am here with 40000000 questions).
The steps to go from SPL 1.06 to an unlocked SIM/CID phone are?
Things I do understand:
I have SPL 1.06 (I know this from bootloader).
I must downgrade to 1.04 from 1.06 then run the upgrade to 1.06 from the Hermes Upgrade wiki page (I already downloaded all of the Cingular files).
Thanks in advance for any clarification.
I unlocked my 8525 last week, I had bootloader 1.06 so I downgraded to a ROM with boetloader 1.04(you can find it here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades ).. then just follow the instructions in the zip file you downloaded(i used HERM_Unlock_v2a), which are:
1. Enter bootloader mode on your Phone. To do this, simultaneously hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus.
[You should see SPL-1.04 on the top of the tri-color screen, if you see SPL-1.06 this unlocker will not work, please wait for the next version]
2. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB lead.
3. Run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe program – this will reflash your phone with a patched radio ROM required to unlock.
4. Wait patiently.
5. Once the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe upgrade completes, it will end up saying "Upgrade Error 114", but the patched radio ROM will be flashed anyway, dont worry about that error!
6. Soft reset with stylus (Device will not be hard reset and no data will be lost)
7. Allow your phone to reboot. Once it has, connect to your PC using Activesync, and copy the HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe program onto your phone. Alternatively, copy it to an SD card and insert into your phone.
8. Run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on your phone. Wait about 1 minute.
9. You should see a "SUCCESS!" message from HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe, after that soft reset your phone.
10. Process is (hopefully) complete!
11. If the phone requests unlock code when you put a locked SIM, the code is: 22051978
I assume I want go to 1.04 for Cingular which is 1.30.502.1.
What about my SIM card? Is it supposed to be in phone when I run this file? (it's a t-mobile sim).
I assume the activesync connection via usb is okay? I cannot get it to connect (even though the phone is on and booted into Windows 5.0); is this because I have not inserted the SIM card into the phone? Note: after I unplugged the device, setting allow USB connections on the device in the ActiveSync settings, then plugging it back in, it connected via USB in ActiveSync (4.2). However, I just got a box saying the version of ActiveSync is not compatible with this mobile device. This occured after I started the installer and it showing Verifying the information on your PDA phone.
I received an update error 260 since it thinks the phone is not connected via USB (and I noticed the ActiveSync icon in the system tray is gone).
I went to check the M$ page to see if there is a later download; there is not. Then, the AS icon return (trying to update outlook, install nero mobile) so I decided to run the installer again and now sees my current version 1.34.502.1 and I have the option to upgrade ROM

It is ok, but generally it causes more problems than it helps. Best is to disable the checkbox that says "enable usb connections" on activesync settings and you'll see the icon on the system tray turn gray with a red "X". Then you need to start the RUU when the device is in bootloader mode (tri-color screen). After you have upgrded the rom (or radio rom) you can reenable activesync again if you want.

Icon was gone because RUU checks your current rom version using activesync and then kills it an put device in bootloaer mode. If RUU cannot kill activesync correctly errors happen:
You will avoid the 260 error if you disable usb connections on desktop activesync as I told you, and start the upgrade in bootloader mode... only difference you'll notice is that RUU will not report your current rom version.
Hey. I left the RUU software running (the 25+ minute variety) while I went to buy a case and care charger. I came back and evidently, the phone had rebooted because, it is at the Windows Mobile screen to setup the Windows Mobile device. I assume it is safe to do the 2a software. After that, am I able to update the RUU back to 1.06?
Thanks for your help, Milan and pof!
I rebooted into bootloader to confirm successful downgrade to 1.04 from 1.06 and it was. The RUU software from the upgrade page for Cingular appears to have been successful.
I am now going to attempt the 2a software.
Yes, now follow all the instructions on sim&cid unlocker v2a, and when finished, flash the cingular 1.34 rom again.

It's now on the upgrade screen to Radio 1.16.00.69 but it does not show the previous version. Is this normal? I have not pressed upgrade yet. I have the splitter with the AC and USB cables into the phone (currently in bootloader mode at SPL-1.04).

I got the 114 error as promised in the readme. I exited the program using the EXIT button.
The next step:
6. Soft reset with stylus (Device will not be hard reset and no data will be lost)
On the phone display, it still shows Upgrade Radio Stack Please Wait..
The soft reset is the simultaneous OK and Power?
I just took the battery out and reset; it appeared to go okay. I copied the exe file to the phone and was able to run the file as in the readme. I then reset the phone, put in the t-mobile sim and it works.
Thanks much to POF and Milan for their straightforward approach. You can use this thread as a tutorial!
Is there any reason I should add the 1.06 file back to the unlocked 8525?
SPL 1.06 to SPL 1.04 back to SPL 1.06?
Hi:
I followed pof's (with pof's help) tutorial on how to unlock the Cingular 8525. I am currently at SPL 1.04 (downgraded form SPL 1.06) and had run the v2a software to unlock. It works great with T-mobile (I was a Cingular customer but made the switch).
My questions are:
Is there any reason to go back SPL 1.06?
If I do go back to SPL 1.06, it does not affect the unlock status of the SIM or CID?
I still am confused about the Radio and what that does in relation to the CID, SIM, or phone. I assume the Radio is affected the SPL version that you have?
I have tried to peruse through various pages regarding downgrading (the 13 page thread for example) to see if that question is answered.
The radio ROM controls the GSM/GPRS/UMTS hardware in your hermes. You cannot independently upgrade it unless you are running SPL 1.04. There is no reason IMO to go to any other bootloader version.

Oh okay, that clears up yet something else I did not understand
Thanks for the tip on the bootloader version; I will leave it at SPL 1.04.
That being said, I am currently in the middle of the Radio 1.20 thread; I have not finished reading it yet (I can only do so much at work before people wonder what I am doing). Have you upgraded to Radio 1.20? If not, what radio are you running and what do you think of its stability and/or functionality?
Thanks!
I'm running the 1.20 radio. It and the 1.35 TyTN ROM are the best combination I've used so far.

Stuck at "rainbow screen"

So I'm a total n00b at unlocking phones but I was trying to unlock my alltel 6800 and after running the program and following the steps I'm stuck on the screen that is red/green/blue/white that shows the rom info and says USB at the bottom when plugged into the pc. I tried a hard boot/soft etc. and can't find a solution. Also activesync is not recoginizing it. Thanks much for any help.
i believe you have to flash it with a new rom/radio.
download the the newest radio. connect your phone via usb. your screen should be in the tricolor (2.40spl) at this point. run the radio flash.
Download a new rom. do the same as above.
to get to tricolor screen (hold power + camera + press soft reset)
Yeah i'm thinking I might have to load it from the SD card but I can't find my stinkin adapter so I can format the SD card. Activesync is not recognizing my phone at all.

it IS recognizing the phone being plugged in if it says USB at the bottom, so just flash a new rom/radio and you should be good.

OK, before it is bricked, tell us the numbers on the rainbow screen, then if it is 1.6 then run the 2.40 olipro, then new ROM, then radio. It is not broken yet, activesync does not like it when the unit is in bootloader mode so it will not show it, but the RUU will work if you just go forward with it and when done it will get you out of bootloader. If you get confused and lost then being an alltel unit you can put the 1.6 bootloader back on, run the stock RUU from utstar.com, bring it back stock and start again.
I got it fixed and installed the sprint firmware but silly me let it run through the setup and now it's trying to use the spring network. Sometimes I wish i could punch myself in the face..
Ok so i got no2chem up and running great but I still can't actually dial out. When i dial it says i'm not allowed to etc after a few rings. Is there some way to change back to the alltel network?
ok now i'm running titan 3.35 but can no longer get active sync which is required to relock the phone. I've tried everything but activesync does not want to work anymore. Any ideas?

First of all, you don't relock your phone...you leave 2.4-olipro on it because it's required to boot your phone with this rom on it.
Second, go into activesync settings and make sure usb is enabled in the connections.
get back to Alltel,,,,

I'm sorry but i'm not familiar with those terms. I do have USB enabled on activesync though but it never detects it.
From reading other threads I assumed I had to relock it, then reload the alltel rom to get the radio working again. Is there another way?
I got the factory alltel rom back in and working but it's not letting me make calls still. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Well i got my phone working finally but now the data line is not working. It says I need a password now which I haven't needed before.

Questions on upgrading OEM Verizon XV6800 to DCD 3.1.6

Hello,
I hear nothing but great things about custom ROMS, especially DCD and would like to try one. I have spent the last few weeks reading all the threads located here on XDA-Developers and on PPCGeeks regarding upgrading an OEM Verizon XV6800 to a custom ROM.
Below are the instructions I have come up with. I would appreciate it if this wonderful community could provide any suggestions or corrections to my steps. Based on your responses I will create a finalized guide for other users to follow.
I have received very mixed results regarding the overall procedure. Some say you must first flash the Sprint ROM and then flash DCD (To upgrade the radio). Others say you can just flash radio 3.39 and then flash DCD 3.1.6. My below steps are going on the assumption you can just flash the radio 3.39 and then flash DCD 3.1.6.
Phone has
Software Version: 2.09.605.8 (I believe this is the ROM version)
Firmware Version: 1.30.60 (I believe this is the radio version)
I have doccumented my
NAM, SCM, ESN (Hex & Decimal) and MSID.
1. Backup everything
2. Connect the phone to the computer using USB cable and ensure it can establish an active sync connection.
3. While the phone is connected to the computer and running Windows Mobile 6.0 run titan_SPL_2.40-olipro.exe to unlock the phone.
4. Reboot the phone and put it in to bootloader mode (Hold down Power button, camera button and press the soft reset button with the stylus until the multi color bootloader screen appears).
5. While in bootloader mode flash the radio to 3.39
6. While in bootloader mode flash the DCD 3.1.6 ROM
7. After reboot install the Verizon carrier cab. Call verizon and let them know you have hard reset your phone so it can be re-authorized with their network.
everything looks good, what i would do though is flash the 3.39 sprint rom to get the radio. and you may not have to call verizon i just got a replacement phone and flashed up did the *22899 and everything worked with out having to call and get a a key.

another suggestion i've seen somewhere else is to turn the phone into flight mode prior to flashing... not sure if it works but would be interested to know
also: DO NOT FORGET to soft reset just beforethe customizations run (when you are finished flashing and the phone reboots itself for the first time..)... you do NOT want the sprint customizations to run, on your Verizon device.

if it's your first time you won't know when the sprint customizations are running. so just don't hit the screen or anything until AFTER you flash a DCD rom

I was in the exact same spot just a few weeks ago, flashing my XV6800 for the first time. I researched and prepared like you have and I think you're ready to pull the trigger.
My only advice is to use the SD method to flash the radio and OS ROMs. I wasn't able o connect via USB after upgrading the radio and the microSD method was incredibly easy and far faster than USB seemed.
Dialing *228 was all I needed after the process was complete, no new A-Key needed or manual entry of provisioning data.
Just remember, when in the process of flashing your phone, keep calm & carry on.
VX6800 upgrade procedures please
I too have read all the post on this and PPCGEEKS and have issues within myself. I start out with a high confidence level and after you get through a page or two of; yes, but do this instead ..... you are left with nothing but total confusion and contradictions. My confidence level is then well down the ladder.
I (we) would all like to hear from a VERIZON VX6800 owner (no sprinters please, sorry) who has actually done this with step by step instructions. Please don't assume we know anything, many like myself are knowledgeable in technical fields but not with PPC's.
This is my most serious concern. I ONLY have access to machines running Vista. I have heard that something, don't know what, will stop at 11% some people say not. What might stop and why? Ive also been told that there are new drivers for 'mobile device center' that fix this problem but no driver dates or version No's are posted anywhere. Any advice here would be helpfully also.
I know several folks who are also waiting for me (the guinea pig) to do this and they will follow.
Thanks for the time all have put into this effort.
All of the instructions and options for flashing are up-to-date in the Wiki.
I own and operate an xv6800, I used the methods listed in every sticky to flash my first time, never had a problem.
I have always used DCD's ROMS and used whatever he had posted in whatever thread for every ROM/kitchen. The man is thorough in putting the necessities in his threads.
Now I just flash whenever, no problems. I run 32 bit vista and xp on my machines and neither gives a headache.
The wiki is your guide to a successful upgrade. Study it.
Nonetheless, for those wanting VZW-specific instructions, here's how I upgraded my XV6800 to radio 3.39.10 and dcd's 3.1.2 a couple weeks ago.
I take no responsibility for anything you do to your device.
Code:
I. Upgrade bootloader
A. Establish an ActiveSync connection via USB
B. Execute Hard-SPL-MFG.exe to upgrade the bootloader to 2.40
[url]ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/ImCoKeMaN/roms/Hard-SPL-MFG.exe[/url]
Follow the steps in the command window closely - they are very clear
II. Format a microSD card for installing radio and OS ROMs
A. Using a card reader attached to your computer, format a microSD card into FAT32 with an allocation unit/cluster size of 1024
1. Open a command prompt and type
format ?: /FS:FAT32 /A:1024
where ? is the drive letter assigned to the microSD
III. Use microSD to install Radio ROM
A. Download radio 3.39.10
[url]http://rapidshare.com/files/113794877/radio339.rar[/url]
B. Un-rar
C. Copy RUU_signed.nbh to your microSD card
D. Rename RUU_signed.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
E. Insert microSD card into phone
F. Force into bootloader by pressing POWER+CAMERA+RESET
G. Bootloader will load and begin loading the ROM on the microSD
F. When radio upgrade is complete, reset phone and force into bootloader
IV. Use microSD to install OS ROM
A. Download the OS ROM (e.g. dcd_titan_3.1.2)
B. OS ROM will be .exe file. Use WinRAR to extract files, one of which will have an .nbh extension
C. Copy *.nbh (e.g. dcd_titan_3.1.2.nbh) to your microSD card
D. Rename *.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
E. Insert microSD card into phone
F. If not in bootloader, force into bootloader by pressing POWER+CAMERA+RESET
G. Bootloader will load and begin loading the ROM on the microSD
F. When OS upgrade is complete reset phone, eject the card, reset the phone
You will more than likely need your USB-headphone dongle/adapter that came with the phone.
After I upgraded my phone, resetting the phone caused the bootloader to appear instead of
loading the OS. For whatever reason, with the 11-pin USB dongle this doesn't happen
and the OS ROM boots without a problem.
V. Follow on screen instructions and allow customizations to run. Phone will reset when complete.
VI. Install Verizon carrier cab, reset when complete.
[url]http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/titan/carriers/dcd%20Titan%20Carrier%20-%20Verizon.cab[/url]
VI. Dial *228, reset when complete
VII. From your phone, browse to [url]http://ota.wsync.com/[/url] to download, install the XV6800 Over The Air sync client
After I upgraded the radio I wasn't able to load the stock OS and was unable to establish an ActiveSync connection via USB, thus was unable to use the RUU method. Using a card reader and microSD method to flash the new OS ROM saved my ass. I won't flash any other way now.

Can you explain this more? Are you saying everytime i reboot my phone i will need the USB/Headphone adapter plugged in? Or just the first boot?
Also, I dont have a SD reader. Can i just copy the files to my SD card with the SD in the phone and connected via USB?
Thanks,

For me, only about 1 in 3 reboots do NOT require the USB dongle. I have no idea why that is, I think it's an issue with the bootloader, but there are some threads on this board with more technical info. (I work in IT and carry a whole mess of cables in my bag, so it wasn't a huge concern of mine to tote the USB-headphone adapter around.)

Nope. You can read/write to the card but I don't think you can change the file system of the card while it's in the phone. Card readers are cheap, less than $20, and very handy to have.

After the entire process was complete you are able to sync with the PC? Just not prior to doing the ROM update? Syncing is essential to me for backups etc.
Thanks for all the advice guys!!
wow, so i just remember i had a SD reader on my linux server. I went down and loaded up my VM of XP. Started to format my SD card and it blue screened and now I cant get my SD card to reconize in my computer or phone. I guess that a worthless piece of plastic now.. Ill try the USB method.

That was the same for me when I checked my EPST before upgrading. That's a good thing: you don't have an A-Key (security) now so you won't need one after flashing.

Correct. However, now when I sync I have to use the USB/Headphone dongle. I can also sync via Bluetooth.
I just want to say thank you to everyone. I was able to get DCD 3.1.6 running by flashing the Sprint ROM and then flashing DCD 3.1.6. The only problem I'm having is getting Radio 3.39 to load. It will get to 8% and then the phone reboots.

Kitchen: dcd_titan_kitchen_3.2.0.rar
Then started to follow this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
I. Prepare with EPST:
- Done
II. Install the correct bootloader
- I did this and it told me I had 1.04, so according to the instructions, I ran the titan_SPL_2.40-olipro.exe file and followed its instructions..
Got to the screen where it said to uplug and plug back in, except when I plugged it back in, it never resynched.. Active synch stayed grey.. But I followed the instructions anyways, and it said that it flashed successfully.. (Even showed the bar on my phone go across, but very quickly..)
Except when it restarted, it kept going to the coloured bootloader screen, which says:
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40.Olipro
CPLD-9
And then sits there and does nothing..
So I went to:
III. Radio Upgrade
-> B. Change the radio with a full carrier Radio & OS ROM flash
--> B. Flash via the USB
It again ran me through that same grey screen, but still no active synch connection. Now when I restart my phone, it shows the HTC screen, with this info:
M 09
P DCAAXAM-4350
R 3.42.30
D 2.13
And some other set of numbers that I can't read..
And then it goes to the TELUS screen and it sits there. I can still go to the bootloader fine if I use the POWER-CAMERA-RESET option, but my phone doesn't start. It stays on the TELUS screen.
What do I do now. Have I bricked my phone?
Boot to the bootloader, and you should see the bottom of the screen go from Serial to USB mode when you plug in the mini USB cable.
You should be able to flash at this point using the RUU.
If you are still having problems then, you need to go into ActiveSync, and uncheck 'Allow usb connections'...
You updated the bootloader and radio, but you didn't update the ROM. Just go into the bootloader and flash the ROM now and it should be fine.
He doesn't need to uncheck the allow usb connections..
Ok, now it says:
Verify that you want to update ROM version from:
Image version: (blank)
to
Image version: 3.42.30
I clicked next, it showed the progress screen.. Went to 8% then my P4000 restarted and this error came on my RUU:
ERROR [328] INVALID COMMAND
P4000 is still stuck on the TELUS screen..
That's not the ROM, that's the Radio. You need to flash the ROM. Run dcd_titan_3.2.0.exe with your phone in bootloader mode and connected via USB.
Cool, now I'm in WM 6.1, waiting for customization.. I want to do this right.. Thats the next step?
Thanks alot man..
Make sure you install the Telus Carrier cab now.
This is gonna sound dumb..
But how do I do that? The FAQ doesnt mention anything about this..
I've extracted "dcd Telus Carrier 20080706.zip" and see a few files..
Do you know how to install a cab file (application) on your phone?
Yes I do, but I'm in the custmozation screen.. From what I know, I shouldn't be continuing past this..
No, it's only when flashing the stock Sprint roms that you have to worry about customizations. It's fine when flashing a custom rom.
Set it up, when it boots to the today screen, copy dcd Telus Carrier 20080706.cab to your phone, then run it to install. Then soft reset.
Ok I continued by it anyways.. and now im in, I installed the carrier cab file using my microsd, restarted..
Doesn't seem to be activated or anything.. I dialed a # it says to press *611 to activate,.. that doesn't work, was there a diff thing i'm supposed to dial?
Ah, I got it.. its *22803 Restarting..
Cool, now I'm up and running.. But I need the kitchen now right?
I followed the FAQ, and it says to do this:
V. Kitchen
Run BuildNB.bat to execute BuildOS
Hit the play button when you have selected your choices.
Exit BuildOS once it has completed.
Let the batch file complete its jobs.
When I run BuildNB.bat it comes up with an error saying:
"Windows cannot find RomUpdateUtlility"..

Uhh... are you just flashing to DCD 3.2.0 ROM, or are you trying to flash your own version (kitchen) of that ROM? If you just want to flash to his ROM, then you're done.

No, you're all done. You either install the premade rom (which you did) or a rom you cook from the kitchen. One or the other.
ya, do what he ^^^^^ said...
Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. All is well now. It's just that the FAQ wasn't that clear.

Upgrading Radio - Need help

Forgive me if this is discussed somewhere - searched and did not see it.
I have two moguls that I am trying to flash to cricket (with Ryan Moguls ROM).
Currently, they both have the following:
Bootloader: SPL-1.07
Radio: 1.69
I am needing to upgrade the radio to 3.xx first, I have tried to upgrade w/ SD, but gets stuck at the Loading screen.
What am I missing? Do I need to do another step prior to upgrading the radio?
Thanks for any help!
First you need to unlock the bootloader (olipro 2.40). Then you can flash any GPS radio or ROM.
Boot your device up unplugged and then connect it to the computer and make sure active sync is connected before flashing the bootloader.

Edit: Here is what I do with a Stock phone. If its NON GPS Stock I usually connect to active sync and first flash a Newer Stock GPS ROM which includes a GPS radio. Then I find out the SPC code (getspc or bafmsl depending if ROM has net framework or not) as the stock ROM usually changes that. Then I change my SPC code to all zeros. Then I flash the Olipro 2.40. That way it boots up the Stock GPS ROM. Then I flash my Custom ROM followed by flashing a newer GPS radio using SD card method.

Actually I spoke to quick - phone will not boot now after unlocking and loading the radio - Radio installed fully, but now it is stuck at the initial screen. Did I do something wrong?
