I've searched all over the web and have tried the following usual suggestions:
1. Uncheck the "Enable" box in the USB to PC setting menu
2. Reinstalling Windows Mobile Device Center
3. Updating the USB drivers in the Device Manger (I do see my PPC-6700 drivers, but nothing for the TP)
Basically, I've tried all the suggestions on the net like the ones on this site and the link below:
http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/win...drop-and-not-sync-with-vista-wmdc-activesync/
Everything was working fine till I attempted to sync the TP on an older Windows 2000 machine today via ActiveSync 4.5 and found out it is not compatible with my device. For the record, my device is a Sprint Touch Pro running Mighty Rom 4.16 and the Sync Data tab is grayed out. My main computer is running Vista 64 with SP2. I was previously using a PPC-6700 that never had problems syncing on Win 2000, XP or Vista. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Anyone else with the Mighty Rom 4.16 had this problem and got it resolved?

Most sync issues are related to Outlook or Firewall. If you have a firewall installed and active, disable first then test. If it doesn't sync, then "uninstall" and test. If it doesn't work, then prob is with Anti Spyware / Anti Malware programs. Outlook is the tough one but simple answer. Uninstall and reinstall.

Hi,
[ first of all - Thanks BUZZZZ ]
I've installed wm2k5 on my qtec2020, it works just fine but..
i can't synchronize my pocket with PC (i've done everything as described on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20505 )
I've got AS4, win XP/SP2. tried on 2 computers.
every time i'm getting an error like on atteched screenshot..
Please help..
UPDATE: i've just discovered that i can explore my device.. but i can't synchronize :-/
Try a other download of ActiveSync, Link
This is Active Sync 4.0 Build 4343
I've got the same you've posted
It doesn't help
UPDATE: I can explore even If i choose to synchronize only notes and files it works. Only problem is with synchronization with outlook 2003.
The problem seems to be with outlook 2003 not being the default email client. Go to Outlook under Help menu choose detect and repair. Reboot once it finished and try.
Shikra: If i click on "mailto" link - outlook 2003 opens, so i think that outlook is default e-mail clinet. Detect& repair was first thing which i've made.
on AS 3.8 everything was just fine..
Active Sync 4.0
Active Sync is working fine for me now.
1. Make sure MS Outlook not running before new install
2. Turn off Windows Firewall
3. Uninstall previous Versions of Active Sync
4. Reboot PC
5. Install AS V4.0
6. Reboot PC
7. Power on XDA
8. Connect XDA to PC.....should now work
Sh*t.. Still nothing. What's going on? I have to go work.. Without my contacts??
Maybe it's outlooks fault? It is in polish.. I'm going crazy
Took me 3 installs and uninstalls before I got rid of the same error you have.
Hello
so I spent over 3 about 5hour evenings at computer with searching, reading, reinstalling and I dont know what else while trying to eliminate this 85010014 error. God bless my beatifull girlfriend sitting by me and cooking cofee, without her I would jump of my skin.
On wiki pages you can read that 85XXXX... error are comming mostly from bad version or corrupted mapi32.dll. Well I found about 3 different mapi32.dlls /windows/system32/; /program files/common files/..... etc.) in my computer with different file size but same version descriptor !!! I asked even my friends with different OS versions (W2000, WXP) and different Office version (2000,XP,2003). Everybody had the /windows/system32/mapi32.dll in version 1.0.2536.0 but everybody with different size. Note, that no one is using or ever was using alternative email client.
Finally I found out that deleting the one in /windows/system32/ directory does no harm to Outlook 2003 - interesting isnt it ? But without mapi32.dll in /windows/system32/ directory will the activesync 4 installation (build 4343) not work.
So I came back to original (maybe from OS installation comming) mapi32.dll with size 112128 bytes. But this is not the problem. Active sync 4 still produced same error.
Reflashing PPC does no progress, the problem is really on the desktop as the application says. ScanPST for outlook.pst file will not help too. "detect and repair" function of Outlook 2003 - same, no help. Even choosing to "reinstall in the same manner" from office installation CD will not help, even it takes nearly 30 minuts of hard disk tyrania. Note, that I always had the "full" install of MS Office. Of course I always first uninstall active sync, then reinstall office, then install active sync again.
BUT - as I found - "reinstalling MS OFffice" is not the same as unistalling and installing again ! this really helped to solve the problem.
So here is step by step what I did.
1. backup Outlook.pst file (if default - /documents and setting/<user>/local settings/application data/microsoft/outlook.pst)
2. complete uninstall of ActiveSync, even deleting the directory (/program files/microsoft active sync)
3. complete uninstall of MS Office 2003
4. delete profiles (control panel/inbox)
5. full install Office 2003
6. full install Active Sync 4
7. run outlook, create profile, set up email account
8. run activesync without PPC in cradle
9. delete all devices from activesync
10. run activesync on PPC
11. delete all devices on PPC activesync
12. put PPC in cradle
13. establish connection
14. synchronise
15. it works !!!
NOTE:
dont run activesync before opening MS Outlook. In my case it always corrupts Outlook profile with doubling the Outlook folders and because of that corrupting the syndronisation procedure.
good luck to you !
T.H.
While this method may work, I think you will find my method for fixing this to be A LOT easier.
It's two steps, and it requires NO un-installing/re-installing.

siGGy method
Sorry,
but "detect and repair" did not work. I even do not and never had another email client. Maybe you just did not read all of my post.
thanks for your answer
T.
I read all of it, maybe read my post a bit more throughly. See where it says, "Even if you don't it's possible the outlook install got corrupted from another application"
So maybe you didn't read all of my post too
I've fixed 7 machines using this method. Most of them (6) didn't have any other e-mail clients installed.
I did something similar to that insanity 15 step method the 1st time it happened to me 2 week ago. Then I found the "detect and repair" fixed it.
I wonder what was different on your machine.
lol, Windows admins. uninstall/re-install. I'm glad I don't work on this O/S for a living.
I hope yours stays fixed permanently, I wouldn't want you to repeat all those steps again! What a PIA.
I'm sure more people will end up finding these posts, hopefully people get their systems fixed.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating, it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!
Support code 85010014 when syncing
Success! Re-install outlook is the only option... for me anyway.
I tried repairing outlook, no difference. Tried new partnerships etc, hard reset my XDA Exec and resync, no difference. Renamed all the mapi32 files I could find and repaired outlook, no difference. Ran the scanpst util, even fixed a problem, still wouldn't sync. Created a completely new pst file and put just 1 email in it (yes it was set to be the default mail delivery folder etc), it wouldn't even sync that 1 item.
So, as per foxnolds post, uncheck outlook in the add/remove programs bit, then re-check it and reinstall outlook, success! Didn't even have to uninstall activesync 4.0 and didn't lose any of my email profiles/settings as it picked them up again after the re-install.
What a palarver.
I am running XP sp2, Office 2003 small business edition, active sync 4.0 and windows mobile 5.0 on an XDA Exec.
i let my almost-future son-in-law take home and play with my g4 wizard love wm6 cingular branded wizard.
he mailed it back to me and now it won't connect to activesync 4.5.
if i uncheck advanced settings on the usb settings page, the computer gives me the usb balloons that says it is connected to the computer.
activesync doesn't even want to look for the pda.
if i check the box, activesync tries to find the pda but fails.
also, the computer doesn't seem to connect to the computer since there are no usb balloons.
is there anything i can try short of reinstalling wizard love.
thanks
Plug it into the usb wire, turn it on and then do a hard reset do not unplug it till active sync pops up on your computer.

You havent mentioned what OS you have on your pc. If you have XP SP2 you can sometimes jumpstart activesync 4.5 by restarting the DHCP.
Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools (only visible in classic view of control panel) -> Services -> DHCP client -> Restart

Same problem with me too..
all the sudden the activesync service in WM6 doesnt start at all..
ActiveSync on PC warns me there is a problem with the connection..
Is there anybody out there that knows how to get the ActiveSync service back and running again.? I tried the the taskmanager to look for the service itself. But found out that the activeSync service is nowhere to be found between the other services. 16 other services are found.
I tired it on Vista (Mobile 6.1) and Windows XP SP2 (Activesync 4.5)
It does not help when i start the program ActciveSync (application) in WM6.

I had the same problem one time after flashing to WM6. How I got it to work was to delete the old mobile device from my active sync, then connect the usb cable.
i've tried all the hints here but so far no connectivity to activesync.
did anyone get the pda seen by winxpsp2 any other way that worked.
i can get into boot loader but still no connection ro activesync.
thanks
Hi
in the begining , sorry for my poor langague
first point u should have active synchronize virgin 4.5 not earlier
second point delete the old connection from the programe.then make a new connection between ur device & pc. it will work properly (in shaa allah)
try it & let me know
zizo
shalom
i uninstalled activesync and then rebooted, downloaded a new copy and reinstalled it.
the computer sees the pda through the rndis driver and says it's installed.
at the end of the install i got some kind of message about outlook not being the default email reader but i ignored it.
then i ran the basic outlook setup but did not make outlook the default mail client.
but active sync still refuses to connect to the computer to the pda.
any other thoughts.
later tonight or during the week i will try it on another xp computer and then a vista computer to see if one of them works.
Hey lissen folks.... any luck on finding the solution.... were u guys able to run the AS4.5 after removing the device? If yes, how do you remove the devioce?
I know its a problem with PC because i tried it on other PC with Win2000 and it worked fine. ANything to do with firewall perhaps?
Hi,
I know there have been threads on this before but largely they just mention installing the Vista 64 bit drivers (done that). I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with the Vista 64 bit drivers and MCR 2.8 (although I was on stock and 2.2 with the same problem). HTC Sync on the phone just will not find it on the PC. I can mount the SD card with no trouble, just problems with Sync.
Any suggestions as to what I can do? Please feel free to direct me to another thread that I've missed so long as it's not just about the drivers.

In addition to HTC sync and the drivers, have you tried getting the android sdk? I know that I had issues with HTC sync finding my phone as well when syncing it to Win7 x64, so try following this guide here, it might allow HTC sync to view the phone properly. The guide teaches you how to setup adb-usb drivers which might trigger the application to know that your phone is there.
I had the same problem, turns out one of the task killer apps that I had been using had killed the sync process. Might be a plan to check if the same has happend to you.
Florida.
Hi Princedwi and Florida,
Thanks for the replies. I'm confident that my sync process is still running as I've tried numerous reboots of phone and PC so the task killer wouldn't have had chance to stop the process. However I will give it a go just to make sure.
Regarding the SDK, I'll try that when I get home. I used to have the SDK installed but then I did a re-install of windows and haven't bothered installing the sdk yet. May well work, I'll let you know.

Hi,
Ok tried it at home. The SDK isn't installing in the same way as I remember it doing last time. A DOS box flashes up and then disappears when I run SDK setup.exe.
Any other ideas?

2.0.18 is out now... should be W7 compatible -
http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=847&news_id=471
I had to install the Vista 64 bits drivers twice to get them working properly. The first time my hero appeared as "HTC Hero ADB". Rebooted, connected to USB, opened notifier, selected PC-Sync and reinstalled drivers (always choosing the folder where HTC should be leaving their drivers). This second time it appeared as "MY HTC" and it worked fine then. So just try again until you see the magic word "My HTC".

Because from android 1.6 setup process has changed in SDK. Normally it opens a windows from where you can add the version of android SDK you want and install the driver.

Same problem here with windows 7 64bit. Not sure if it's related to java environnement installed (For example when i installed JRE on my win7 64 the JAVA_HOME env variable was not set, i had to do it manually).

Nope for now but if I found the problem be sure i'll post it here.
Ok I found the solution. My problem is that I've installed only the JRE but according to the requirements (developer.android.com/intl/fr/sdk/requirements.html) we need the JDK also.
So i've uninstalled the JRE 1.6 (64bit) I had, and installed the JDK 1.6 (32bit as i saw many ppl having problem with 64bit and android SDK). And it worked, I run againg the "SDK Setup.exe" and it opened the windows as intended.
I had the same problem, even with 2.0.18. what I did was install HTC Sync 2.0.18 (with the drivers copied in Program Files\HTC\HTC Driver\Vista_x64). then go to device manager, ADB interface, update driver, browse for a list of compatible software and choose My HTC.
after rooting it (although I'm not sure this is the cause) it happened now and then to fail to get recognized by the computer so I followed the same steps to update the drivers to My HTC.
I can't install HTC Sync 2.0.18, it gives an error about some resource file not found and closes. I tried on two different computers with the same result. Anyway 2.0.8 works fine here after I reinstalled the 64 bits driver until it was detected as "My HTC".
the same for me.
after update to version 2.0.18 my win7 64bit didnt find my phone anymore...
Hi Guys,
Just switched over from iPhone 3GS to S2 but am having slight teething problems.
I would like to connect to Kies so I may upload my contacts from outlook on to the S2 but the status is stuck on connecting with a circle spinning next to it on kies.
I uninstalled kies, reinstalled it. Running version 2.0.2.11071_128. Rebooted the pc many times and each time I open kies trying to connect the status is stuck on connecting.
I installed drivers thru kies but to no avail. The pc won't even recognise the phone as a usb storage device and doesn't list it under my computer.
All I get is a window popup which says mtp error ivc or something like that.
Help...
I had that exact same MTP problem with my S8500. Did everything I could do, but none worked. Finally it got solved after installing Win 7 x64/x86. I know that sounds crazy but all I know is that.
Regards.

You don't say what your PC is running.
maybe try a full windows update then re-install Kies ?
I have Win XPon my desktop and Win 7 on my laptop.
I've installed same version of Kies on both of my computers.
XP doesn't recognise MTP device, but Win7 does.
I think maybe it's driver problem. There's Windows Driver Kit on Microsoft's website. I didn't try it, already using Kies on Win7.
Who else have driver issues, maybe could try driver kit and feedback?!
I have the Win XP Pro and Win 7 Home Premium X64.
After I install the Kies, everything works fine.
You may try to uncheck USB Debugging under Settings -> Applications -> Development. I am not sure if it can help you. However, Kies cannot connect to my GS II when I checked USB Debugging.
If you want to import your contacts into your GS II, I recommend you should import them into your gmail. (I do believe that importing contacts into gmail is a better method for the Android users)
I found an article on importing contacts into gmail.
(Sorry that I can't post the outside link here. You may search "Outlook contact to gmail" in Google. The first link should help you.)
After importing the contacts into your gmail, you can sync the contacts between your phone and your gmail.
Hope that I can help you!
On Windows remove MTP driver and reinstall without kies (plug SGS2, wait)
try to connect with debugging USB ON, the OFF (it is working when USB debug , bug )
