Hi All,
been using holux gpslim 236 with the atom xda for quite some time, but i tried to pair the holux with the atom life it finds it enter pass 0000 then wait for some time then asks me to re-enter the correct pass and i re type and it accepts it but no serial port added. to confirm the holux gpslim 236 is functioning i tried it on and another xda , LG works fine.
Anyone might have an idea how to rectify, been searching for days to no avail.
Cheers Oyama

Hi,
Can anyone help me out with where I can find a lead that is a GPS RECEIVER & will charge the XDA at the same time that just plugs in the bottom of the XDA!? I have managed to find one for the IPAQ but no joy for the XDA!

This is the sort of thing I mean, see: Haicom: GPS receiver for iPAQ 38xx/39xx/54xx series
Thanks.
www.tomtom.com
I have one... it is excellent
I wondered if anyone has any advice on which gps system works best? i heard that tom tom 2 software is good??
any advice. thanks
Yes, as a mapping software TomTom RoutePlanner and CityMaps are very good and also good value for money. As a GPS receiver, I use a Garmin III connected to the XDA with a serial cable fitted with a null modem adapter. Any GPS receiver transmitting NMEA 182v2 at 4800 over a serial connection will work with the XDA serial cable and a null modem (crossover between pin 2 & 3 on the DB9).

Navman gps-1000
I saw a gps at www.navman.com to use everywhere, in the car , walking in the mountains etc...
This device is for a lot of pocket pc.
Any1 knows if this device also works with the XDA, I know the tomtom navigator 2 kit does work with the XDA but this kit can only be used in a car and is in walking mode not small.
Thanks
I am trying to get a garmin ETREX working with the XDA but thought the serial cable works and i am be able to connect to the serial port of the computer and do a sync that way the comm ports do not seem to be able to see the data output of the GPS which is present by checking it with a comm program.
any suggestions ???
I am using the VITO map software and VITO navigator.
also curious of the pharps GPS specifically for PPCE Phone
any one heard anything about this
???
I have just been able to get the etrex work fine with a palm. can't connect it to my xda yet as i don't have a serial cable.
two things to watch for...
there should be an odd number of cross-overs in the connecting cable. my palm cable has rx/tx crossed and so does the etrex cable so i had to use a third crossed cable to make three crosses between the palm and the gps (will solder a proper lead later).
on the etrex set it to MNEA
I don't know which one is good, but I can definitely tell you that the Pharos product is total crap.
Anybody wanna buy one cheap?
gps for xda
I have tried the tomtom gps mouse which is an integrated gps/antenna with tomtom 2 and it works beautifully, very fast to first lock and very accurate. Also available is the Haicom 203 unit, this is supplied with the power lead as well, the bonus for both these units is that you can exchange the data/power cables for those that will fit laptops and other pda's, so you can have 1 unit and cables for several devices. The cables for these 2 units are unfortunately not interchangable as the tomtom is made by Leadtek. The Haicom can be bought as a complete kit requiring only xda and memory card for £79.99 inc vat. from GPS warehouse in UK. I got delivery in 48 hours.
gps xda
the haicom also requires software, the tomtom gps comes with tomtom2 or you can buy it as part of the destinator kit, anybody needing this software to "test", let me know.

Hi
I'm about to sell my xdaII to buy an xdaIIi
Is the connector the same?
I want to be able to use my spare cradle, rechargers, car kit etc.
Any advice on this would be appreciated,
Thanks
Conor
The cradle is identical. I bought an XDAIIi a couple of weeks ago, and am still using the XDA 2 cradle.
Even the batteries are exactly the same size, although the XDA2i one has 100 mAH more. Probably interchangeable, but I haven't tried it.
Excellent!
That's good news then!
Thanks a million!
everything is the same, even the backpak,(with the driver) the batey is also fine, OK 100 M/A less power, but any battery meter program works and gives the corect remainding times

I am trying to get tomtom 6 to find my gps receiver? in the configue menu of tomtom only com 9, com 0, com 3, serial port, infared port and i think com 6 are listed, i have tried all of them but all i get is no gps device. i was expecting to find com 1? have turned off ir beaming. does anybody have any info or help.
My O2 XDA Mini s is in a car cradle and the gps receiver is connected to the cradle by RJ11 connecter. The phone charges and the gps receiver is powered up.
i am having the same prob
please help..
Regards

Think it could be car cradle, assumed with it having RJ11 it would be linked to mini usb(com1). It seems they are there to power bluetooth receivers. My mistake. Hope this helps others.
i just bought this gps, and tested him on my ipaq 3650 with destinator 3 and works fine.
however when connect it to my t-mobile (wallaby) i got that no gps device found- tried both destinator 3 and 6 version - same result.
i disabled thr IR port, and the light on the digitraveler turn on - but still unrecognized
Just to ensure:
You use different cables for connecting the GPS Receiver to your Ipaq and your wallaby, or?
Stefan
my mistake
altough it's the same connector for wallaby & ipaq 38xx
the internal connection isn't the same --> therfore i'll need to modify my cable
thanx anyway
So i hope all iw orking on your device. Often the is an hardware issue after using the wrong connector....
Stefan
yep
modify the ipaq cable and GPS work
