Guys and gals,
I have a question about wm6.1. I see quite a number of versions on the forum and I tried 2 or 3 (maybe 4), but reverted back to wm6 shadow clean (5.2.19.48 wwe) and working with it for more than 1 month.
My question now is "what is the benefit of 6.1?" or since I read a lot about problems (with bluetooth) "why is 6.1 better or what are the new features?"
Thanks
The only visible benefit of Wm6.1 is threaded SMS like Palm OS Chat. Other feature is not so transparent to the end user and more networking related.

How about the Task Manager shipped with WM6.1^^?
Thank God M$ finally dished out something edible---the shipped TM is brilliant not only because of its small size but its "precise" reports on both CPU and Memory usages for each application and service.
If it not were the incompatibility between WM6 and the TM, I will defenitely switch back to WM6 at this moment^^
Read What's new in WM6.1
PS: The threaded SMS application is rather annoying.

yeh... i agree with you.... is really annoying!
The threaded SMS is more like MS' "Me Too" answer to Palm and Iphone that WM now also support threaded SMS native to the OS. It will win the heart of some die hard Palm fan (like myself).
benefit
In the mean time, i have tried all Cooked WM6.1 and so far i though there is no big benefit using it.
- Battery drain is a little bit faster than wm6
- Threaded SMS is very annoying since cannot move to another folder and cannot be backed up.
So from my opinion, it is better to stick with WM 6
Disable SMS Conversation on WM 6.x

I love threaded sms - it's a great improvement over normal texting for me.
Not complaining!
I am not making any complaint to all the great men cooking great roms.
If the 6.1 roms are not good (enough), it is only because the OS 6.1 is not good enough and maybe a next version (built) will solve a lot of problems which are no floating around on this forum.
In my case, 6.1 solved many issues. My biggest was losing calls back in 6.0. I was ready to sell my mobile, but when I upgraded to 6.1, everything worked fine-Faster - no problems at all! Now I'm gonna keep my good old S200!!
Hi everyone! Long time no see
I've been very busy with my life, so i can't visit this wonderful forum for a long time! I miss you guys so much
Now when i have some more time, I can continue my last work, the missing function of our devices, something new for you:
1- I may make some ROMs for you by your request, so if you like, just tell me what you need, which kind you like, clean, manila, or something else... (ofcourse i can't make 1 ROM for 1 person )
2- You won't be sad anymore when seeing someone update his ROM in Windows Vista (other devices). Yes, i wanna say that i've patched our tool to work in Vista as well (G3 and G4 too).
I'll give you more info in few days!

maybe. In other colour will be better
I mean, the way you wrote
Red colour is not good for eyes.
Or yotta dialer is a good one too
Yota Dialer
Cloudyfa is involed in this Program too.
But it takes really much storage. But with that one. It's really perfect.
M2D is a good one.
And I would like to have it. If Cloudyfa make a new ROM for us.
My Request for ROM from Cloudyfa.
A rom with,
[*]M2D of course
[*]Yota Dialer (Also Yota Contact too) . This Application are AWESOME. Birthday Section for qvga need remaping.
[*]Some Important Program (winrar,advanced config,PIM Backup,Winstorage)
[*]Of course his WPA2 Support
Cloudyfa, we can save some storage by pack it in ExtRom.( you know it already anyway)
Thanks MASTER
oh my God
finally the golden days are back.
believe it or not, there's a smile on my face right now !
anyway
about the rom in my opinion i prefer :
a clean stable rom
with newest build . because i love to see my rom build number is the latest. it makes me happy inside even if the older rom is better or more stable , but i like to see the latest number on my device.
with all the features like a2dp , wpa2 , UC , ....
latest htc default softwares like network wizard , sim manager , ....
latest smart dial : the one with slide to answer or slide to hang up was so nice
nice harmonic one color graphic in all programs ( i prefer the original blue )
and the most important : no today big plugin like htc home or m2d or anything else.
it's better to be optional , for example in a cab for anyone who is interested.
because some guys like me don't use them. i use all the spb programs.
another thing : the rom does not need to be full of programs like winrar and acrobat and ....
instead of that you can introduce the best cab for them, like best compatible one note or best acrobat ...
but it is good to see some usefull programs like advanced config or hibernate or quick menu or wktask or homescreen++ or wm5torage and others...
because almost all of us use these tools. although you can make them optional too.
(give the best and latest and most compatible cab for them )
you can introduce the best working microsoft voice command
or best opera browser
anyway my whole point here is that you present the cleanest rom you can and then every one can make it the way he likes for himself
i can't remember anything else for now but sorry for the long speech.
despite all of the above things i said, i will surely use any type of rom you make.
once again thank you for the past things you made for us
thanks for now that you have come back
and thanks for the new roms that hopefully you'll give us soon in the future )
Great news.....
so.. I can be the copy-cat again...

Same as this build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466438 but with Rhodium apps and Manila TP2 for those that want to play with it.
Still a bit buggy...a few. No need to post about bugs. Actually please dont post about manila bugs to keep thread clean. Thanks!

nice work. i am liking the new manila a lot. i was using it in another rom too and its got more functionality that any of the previous versions. the new icons in programs are nice. it will be good when the manila becomes more stable. keep up the good work.

I'm sure there will some questions about the new manila2 and there are still some bugs out there. This thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486471 ) will help you understand what is going on with this great project.
At0mAng, thanks for a great contribution in working with the new Rhodium Manila!!
Great ROM!
I must say that it is a great ROM!
I have test it for an hour...
I must tell you that the only problem is with the Manila TP2.
But i have seen, that EnergyROM have solved most of the problem of the manila.
But his ROM not stable and easy to use as yours.
So, maybe you will take his Manila TP2 and cook it with your own ROM?
Nice Idea...
His Manila, fixes the Weather and Clock and many more...
I hope that will not offend you (and him...), it for the good will in progress!

Been messin with this ROM for a while now, eventually looking forward to making it my daily. Anyway, ignoring manilla sizing, I found one major bug. When setting an alarm by clicking on the flip clock, Tf3d restarts from scratch. Great work man take care!

Manila from tp2 does not have a programs tab. When the enlarge start menu package is used it makes the start menu the programs tab.

Thanks guys. If you want a more stable ROM try my main ROM found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466438 It is exactly the same as this ROM minus the TP2, Enhanced Menus, and Enhanced notifications. If you are not happy with Manila from TP2 yet you can install what other features you do like.
I have most of the bugs worked out on this Manila build. I am sure it has been worked out in different versions but when I enable the programs tab and go to the programs tab, go to all programs it gets stuck there. If I go to start menu today, it is still on the all programs. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? I know aruppenthal mentioned something like this in a few posts up so was wondering if disabling the enlarge start menu would fix this.
Also, I am not sure if I am going to release an update since I/we don't want the person working on the manila TP2 port to get upset or whatever. I did ask to use it but never got a reply back... Any thoughts on it?

I think it is awesome rom so far...you can fine tweak the other things and get ready for the release....I heard it might be out by the 19th if everything goes well for XBOXmd...however, if you put it out...I will play with it...lol...I enjoy it and learning from it...its your call chief...
The issue with the programs was happening in the other builds and thats why it was out for a little while i believe...I dont want to speculate what the problem was....If arrupenthal and NRG dont know maybe Dharvey, Showdaco or XBOX himself...sorry...
I have the working manila TP2 with all tabs...
I will send you the "manila files" for the WORKING TP2 manila.
Update your files, and plz, enable the "program tab" after upgrade.

Heyy ya'll,
I recently updated my MDA Vario IV with the new rom, and i noticed the changed a few things.
for example the wheather tab has been replaced with a mobileTV tab. and the flip clock has also ben removed. there is also a Web n widget tab added which is pretty nice, but i really want the weather tab back and de flip clock.
can anybody help me?
Did you try looking at the settings to see if the tabs were there and just not active?
yeah i did, and all the tabs are active...
tnx for the suggestion tho.. any other thoughts?
Not familiar with the MDA Vario ...
I've been using mostly ROMs from here for a while. You may want to try to reload the TF3D from XBox. That will bring back the weather for sure and the flip clock. You can download Manila TV and add that in. Not sure what you could do for Web n WIdget Tab, but I would do a search on all three:
Web n Widget Tab
Manila TV
Manilla Complete Xbox
and you should be able to just load them up.
Also, do a search on TF3D or Manilla and you will find a lot of pages that have work that folks have done for all kinds of fonts, clocks, tabs, highlites, etc.
Hope this helps
sorry for the late reply.. been having some problems with my internet..
anywho i'll be sure to try this tnxx
well i tried it but it did work
probably because the t-mobile rom is 1.95 version??
Is your Startmenü also black background with black text? The 1.95 ROM of T-Mobile was only for couple of minutes on my Vario, it's the worst I have ever seen... After that I installed a Win Mobile 6.5 ROM with TF3D2 and now I'm happy
really cool.. can you tell me wich version you installed of win mobile 6.5? i would like to install that one 2
Not sure what version Kobip has installed. I'm currently using the latest from NRG his second 23009 build. And it works great. It does not have the Manila TV in the ROM and I haven't tried to install it separately.
Also, the latest Chrome ROM is nice and has the manilla tv already installed.
Ahen's ROM has some nice visual enhancements to it as well.
I think you've probably only been using the "official" release ROMs which from my experience aren't near as nice as what you will find here.
You'll want to unlock your phone...HardSPL etc. See the Sticky by Olipro on the Raphael ROM page. This not only allows you to flash non T-Mobile ROMs, but will help prevent you from "bricking" your phone.
You'll find that the customizations that you can do once you get away from the stock ROMs will make your phone look and perform better.
Good Luck
tnx for the tips mwcostello
I also tried the HardSPL.. but the screen goes black and resets.. it doesn't install the win 6.5 rom. don't really know what i am doing wrong.
Could you maybe posted the links here? i'm kinda a noob on this site
i can verify that the latest NRG ROMs work well on the MDA Vario IV
have a nosey at the 'flashing for noobs' thread in this forum - HardSPL is only the start of flashing ......

Here is the Raphael Wiki:

The wiki is laid out nicely and has tons of information. Scroll down to "GSM Upgrading/cooking/flashing:"
I don't remember if it was with the Raphael that I had to do some of the work arounds or not... I also Hard SPL and Unlocked a Hermes and Kaiser (8525 and Tilt). With one of them, I believe it was the last option for SSPLs... so don't lose faith...
heyy guys,
checked out the raphael wiki and i've been enjoying the the standard energyrom for quite some time now and it looks great!
the only thing is some of my hard keyboard buttons dont work like they're supossed too.. any ideas?
This is my first attempt at cooking a ROM, driven by the desire to fix the HTC messaging application. Therefore, there may be some imperfections but it works for me! Thanks go out to the OSKitchen and many threads on here about cooking.
This ROM is built from the official 2.53 ROM but with Manila from the Touch Pro 2. Someone decided to write that version of Manila to use the WM messaging with the Sense 2.1 style messaging interface Arcsoft MMS is cooked in for MMS functionality. The SMSRetry service is included so messages can sent without coverage with the phone sending when coverage is found.
Pagepool is set at 20MB as this seems to produce a very smooth ROM. Although not cooked in, I've used TD2 Tools 3 to increase file system caches, graphics caches and several other tweaks and it is now very smooth!
Disclaimer:
You already know this but.. I'm not responsible for bricking any device, data loss or anything terrible happening. It hasn't bricked my device after several tries.
Notes:
I would set your radio band from Auto to your regonal settings (GSM 900/1800 3G 900/2100 in UK) as it seems to lower battery use,
When using COM5 (6.5.5) I recommend MMTaskmanager.
COM2 Branch:

Updated with OS and Manila versions.
Thanks BeeGee, your mirror has proved invaluable as HTC, Rapidshare, etc always seems to fail just as I want to download a ROM.
Will try to post some screenshots later (prob tomorrow now) but it really is just stock Windows 6.5 / Manila 2.5 but with 2.1 style messaging (and WM messaging of course). I haven't changed any styling.

Hi Craig,
I have flashed your ROM. It looks good so far. Original Windows Mobile messaging works great.
Otherwise, it looks pretty the same as recently published original HTC ROM with Sense 2.5. There is also missng HTC task manager button on Today's screen. But I have installed attached cab and it is patched now.
In general, it seems to be a good piece of work and great idea to bypass original HTC messaging. I
Many thanks.
Monsoon
Thanks Monsoon78, finally Sense 2.5 on our Topaz is usable!
Yeah, i've installed the task manager is on my device too, quite why they left it out i don't know.. I shall hopefully post some useful cabs this evening (as well as some screenshots!).
Craig
I'm using a french HTC 6.5 sense 2.5 rom, have you a fix for MS SMS and T9 ?
No, I'm afraid it had to be cooked into the rom. I don't think it can be made into a cab.
I haven't worked out the T9 words issue yet..
Craig
I was looking for a stock Rom with WM messaging for a long time I was considering to cook one but time isn't too much
Many many thanks craiglay
Interesting issue, My service provider, O2 UK was blocking some of my MMS being sent to my phone, giving me a message that I cannot receive that type of MMS. Turns out this is a size issue, I could send / receive small MMS!
Turns out this is due to my provider not recognising my phone and sending it as basic as possible (compatibility mode) Quote: Here from O2 Forum
A Google search shows that setting it to an N95 seems to fix it. Quote: Here, with solution
So, in a registry editor:
HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Arcsoft \ Arcsoft MMS UA \ Config \ mm1 \ WspHeader
User-Agent: NokiaN95/11.0.026; Series60/3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
x-wap-profile: "http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN95-1r100.xml"
and all is good!!
Craig
Can't believe this thread only has 2 pages. Doesn't everyone using 2.5 currently affected? Is this the best solution craig?
I know, maybe everyone just lives with 2.5 style messaging or the various cab hacks. I also believe several other ROM's have integrated 2.1 messaging (EnergyRom is one I believe) but they are heavily customised to the author. I prefer to start with a pretty standard ROM and customise it to my liking.
Its really just a personal project that I've shared with the community. I customise it further myself.
Regarding the best solution, I don't know. I would prefer the HTC Messaging application over WM messaging but I personally can not live with the lagging. The cab hacks work, but from experience can have notification / SMS bubble issues. The Manila version here has been written (by HTC or OEM) to use WM messaging natively which is what makes it different.
Craig
Hi,
I just wanted to add my experience with Craiglay's ROM. The stability seems to be good. After 5 days of testing, I haven't encountered any major issues except the one, which is common to last official HTC ROM. This ROM has PAGE POOL 20 MB which seems to improve the performance compared to official HTC release. Battery drain is not bad. I am quite addicted to the phone, so one may can achieve even better results. I use lot of email synchronization, RSS channels and have 3G enabled. My battery runs out in about 36 hours. One important remark, I run it with radio 4.49.25.17
With regards to the bugs, as Craiglay has already indicated in the post #1, there is an issue with T9 dictionary, because new words are neither permanently stored in the memory, nor they are inserted into to the text, when you add them manually. This is a bit annoying since you need to retype the word once again and teach the dictionary all the time, when you reboot the device. I wonder if there is any solution for this bug ?
Inspite of this bug, I plan to stay with this ROM.
Thanks.
Radim
Thanks for the review Monsoon78! I run it with Radio 4.49.25.91 which works well.
Unfortunately I have been unable to sort out the T9 issue I've tried a few different versions and the suggestions Here but still looking into it.
I have however an updated ROM with Manila 2012.1412 with Sense 2.1 / WM messaging. It also includes the Document and ereader tabs, no Sprint branding and cool animated rotating effects in Albums and Music.
If testing goes ok over the weekend, i'll upload the ROM soon.

Cool!! Unfortunately I've dropped the eReader, Document tab and Footprints as there were too many issues and battery drain was HUGE!! You could still hack in the tabs if you really want them with the link i posted above.
New Manila 2012.1412 is still there and Photo's and Music cool animation is still in. Will test for a few days and see how it goes.
Sorry for the delay!! Please appreciate I want to release something good with few bugs!
