Is there any stand alone program that announces the caller id? (N95 style)
First it plays the ringtone and then reads the id.
I know that MS Voice Commander does that but it's a pain in the @ss to configure it.
I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!
It 's called e-Mobile Voice Phone Tune
I haven't tested it yet.
Well.... It isn't what I expected...
It's another record-contact-ringtone app. You have to work contact by contact.
The software is not what its creator claims to be.
Buggy on NIKI100 too.

Hi guys.
I can't stop enjoying the WM2003, especially because of these things:
-When entering SMS a character counter shows if you exceed 160 characters.
-Incoming SMS does not wake up the unit, only audible/vibrating warning.
Excellent if the unit is in the pocket.
-A notification is given when an outgoing SMS is sent.
-Incoming calls and SMS' is represented by name without having to use the PPC2002 patch
-Incoming message notification even when Inbox is opened/active
Billy has done some work since PPC2002!
(but these features has been present on all GSM phones the last 10 years...)

Looks like a typical Uncle Bill stunt...
give the user what they think they should have...
not what the user actually wants.
Dont we all just love the DRM'd Windows media 9 series...
but what happened to mp3 ringtone support? heh
yeah yeah I'm going to get *****ed at for bringing that up again but its not exactly rocket science is it?
Does somebody use any Caller ID voice synthesis application on Tattoo ?
I tried several such applications and no one can't say the name stored in address book, but only the number.
Hi, I am using VOICE CALLER ID and work fine.
Where can I find the VOICE CALLER ID?
Well, when I bough Defy I did not mean Fring would not work on it. Other sided, just dont hear me. And I am not only one with that problem. It dont work on stock 2.1, then I upgraded on nordic 2.2, still no go.
Can somebody tell me if Fring is working on cyanogen mod 7? It is latest one 3.0.1.5 version. And previous one too.
I tried to install CSipSimple but I just could not add SIP contact or add SIP to existing contact. And this CSipSimple supposed to be the best.
Can somebody please point me into right direction how to somehow end all this trouble with voip. Now I am using skype but it is so bloated that I need to actually kill it with ANOTHER program to stop draining battery, memory and data.
Your thoughts. Anybody... sorry for bad lang..
Yes, fring 3.0.1.5 has corrected the voice path, but only if you call (or answer) through the phone' speaker (or speakerphone) only. Still mic issues (i.e. no voice at all) on BT headsets.
EDIT: I've spoken too soon! For no aparent reason, the mic detection has stopped working. I have rebooted my phone, then deinstalled and reinstalled fring, to no avail. So, fring keeps being incompatible with the Defy!
Oh, about adding SIP to contacts, perhaps you'd take what follows as a workaround: you, most probably, know that you can add filters to the the accounts you have registered on your CSipSimple application. Run it and tap 'Menu > Settings > Filters', and select the account you want to add fillters to. Then, tap 'Add filter / rewrite rule'. On the 'Can't call' dropdown menu, select 'Rewrite'. I'll tell you how I have set my callcentric account, which might give you an idea how it works. Well, all my contacts are stored with the national prefix and carrier selection code. So, one rule says 'Starts with 021 replace match by +55'. A 2nd one says 'Start with 1777 Prefix by sip:' and the last one 'Starts with 1777 Suffix with @callcentric.com' (all callcentric numbers start with 1777). Hope you can find patterns on your contacts database which might be used as filters.
You see, I like CSipSimple (I use the latest released dev trunk version). The only glitch I find there is that their bluetooth headset implementation is still pretty buggy.
Just my 2 cents...

Carlos
Well I guess it depends which way you look at this...
I use (used) google voice strictly for voicemail on the Evo4g but it appears that somehow this works differently on the E3d.
The app essentially hijacked my phone and made itself the default receiver of text messages as well as voice/voicemail. I liked it better when i had the choice which program make all my calls and I much prefer the sense sms app over the one built into google voice.
Maybe i did something different but I noticed even the differences in the setup of google voice...it seems that sprint's carrier integration now allows for all this. Just wish i had the option to choose what part of the app does what.
Thought others might want to know as well. phone is GREAT by the way =]o
Did the same thing for me. Easy fix though. Go to voice.google.com and Deactivate Google Voice on your Sprint phone in Voice Settings. Deactivate call forwarding. Then you can re-enable call forwarding.
I was pissy about this myself. I hadn't tried the fix but unwilling as soon as I get to my pc.
So does this work? Does this just do phone or text as well? any update?
It's not an EVO 3D thing it's a Sprint Google integration thing. You just didn't setup your EVO from scratch after the Voice integration happened.
I love Google Voice integration. I've posted these links in other threads but they are good reads on why you are better off actually integrating and how to still use your default messaging apps.

Here are some other cool things I'm able to do now myself. I can make outbound and inbound calls on my google talk using my cell number on my computer wherever I have internet access. I bought an OBI110 and hooked up a phone to it so now I have free VOIP calls whenever I answer or receive calls to my CELL number on this phone. Now I don't have to give anyone a different number and I can still control who gets to reach me at what time of the day. I can answer and receive texts on my computer, laptop, tablet all using my cell number. All my texts are backed up and searchable to my google voice account (even texts I send from my phone using one of the regular messaging apps, not google voice app)
My opinion. Take the time and setup integration right. It's one MAJOR advantage of being an Android user on Sprint now. You're missing out on way more by not setting it up than you would by setting it up.
Oh and for those who don't want to lose your old Google Voice Number, Google lets you keep additional numbers at $20 per number.
Hi, it is nice to have the caller name instead of just the phone number. But this requires to have the caller name inside your Android contact list.
Is there a way (app or hack) to have the caller name without having to add it in your Android contact list?
Use case: I am an employee inside a 120 employee company and I would like to get the name of the caller for each employee, but I do not want to have them into my Android contact list, as I only work with some of them and have also friend&family so I do not want my address book to become unreadable because of these 120 employee contacts.
Regards, Chris
Actually, my wife just experienced this. She contacted the Disney help desk and got her business taken care of. After that a friend asked us for the number. She went to find it in recent calls and passed by it because their number was listed as "Dumbo the Flying Elephant"
I can't tell you how they did it, but it's certainly possible.
I think your experience with Disney is due to a public caller name. I don't want a public caller name, I just would like a secondary contact address book only used for phone caller naming.
