BS Radio (.09) with energy rom question - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Hi, im using the last energy rom ant the last BS radio, its working very well, but, im dont need to change the riphone into the system after installed the BS radio?

i'm not sure this even belongs in this section but since it already is, it is possible that you may experience battery drainage w/o installing the proper rilphone but it has also been found that mixing and matching rilphones and radios can sometimes produce better results. if you don't experience any significant battery drainage or bad signal, then it may be better to not install the rilphone.

i dont find the riphone for this radio.

As stated, if you dont have signal drops or crazy battery drain then just keep using what RILPHONE.dll you currently have.

Mad Battery Drain - Radio or OS?

Recently tried some roms and settled for energy warhawk... I also flashed a new radio. 1.02.25.28 to replace 1.02.25.19.
Today, I had insane battery drain. 100% after overnight charge... Off the charger at 6am. 10% warning at 2pm.
Only 1 call, some GPS testing and no wifi or bt...
Is it the the energy warhawk or the radio rom?
Using the same ROM with radio 1.14.25.30.
I didn't have any battery drain issues (sofar)
Maybe this question would be better placed in either the radio thread or the Energy ROM thread?
Try to check out if your device is not in screenoff state instead of sleep state.

Energy suggested to use Radio 1.14.25.05 with his ROM to get best performance and less battery drain ;-) Also this ROM contains rilphone.dll for this suggested Radio.

Cool. I downloaded this radio and the zip comes with the rilphone.cab. Do I need to install this or is the dll already in the right place?

If you use that ROM, have you read the first few posts in his thread? Between others it is stated that you should wait for several charging cycles till the battery meter "settles". I think all users of the EnergyRoms know that by now. The meter is just fuzzy after a hard reset and needs some time - in my case 3 days - to come near to reality.
I live in Greece and my carrier is Voda (as you can see).
I tried warhawk titanium + 1.02.25.28 radio and I had the same issues. Batery meter in today screen indicated 70% and system batery was 82 for example. Also batery drain was auful even with GSM only.
I flashed warhawk standard + 1.12.25.19 - Raphael Radio from Test rom (best radio for my device) and everything is fine.
I 'm stick with it.

I'm only new to energy rom. For the day that radio was in it was bloody good... I may leave it to settle...
What are rilphone.dll's? The thread I downloaded them from didn't have them. Are they really necessary?

EXTREMELY important. Normally the rilphone.dll is in the zip included. If not, try to search the radio thread.
However, in some cases, the rilphones might be different to the radio version and still perform well. Like in the latest EnergyRom for TP. Here the chef recommends even to have a combination which doesn't fit in their versions. But it is widely tested and found good.
Normally if rilphone doesn't match the version of the radio, you will have awful drain, the phone gets even warm if not hot...
Search, search, search

Keep in mind that your device STAYS off if you have the power off device checkbox checked in power settings. Just pressing the power button doesn't guarantee it really stays in sleep mode
try changing your file system caches in the tweaktool to normal.
with my device it works and i got no more mad power drain.
got a HTC Touch Pro Energy Rom Warhawk 3.0

agreed BeHero definitely the best and cleanest rom with out any extra apps
Villain, theres a thread on modaco about this, with a poll. Shows villain as the best, and i would agree. Also, check the post numbers out, they kinda speak for themselves. but tbh, do a nandroid backup, and try both
Personally I find that HeroDroid 0.3 is by far the most stable. I appear to have improved battery life by switching off the phone with GPS enabled, then disabling after restart using a specific radio version (in my sig)
Alright ill try out a variety of ROMS, so far i think BeHero is best for battery means

Radio for Best battery and reception

Hi All,
I would like to know what radio people have found to have the best battery and reception. I ask because I have the stock 2.07.51.22_2 from Telstra and I have been thinking about upgrading but have no idea to which radio to go to.
Help would be appreciated
Look at the stickies in this forum and then read... after you have done that then hopefully you will realise that the best radio for battery and reception is very much down to the user of phone, what network they are on, which country they are in, where in that country they are, where the celltowers for their network are in relation to where they are and where they move between. In addition how you use your phone, for what and for how long also affects it.
If you still not getting it the only person you can ask your original question to is yourself because noone else lives your life and is in the places you are at the same time as you...

Dear Friend,
I tried all radio ROMs and almost all ROM's and came to the conclusion that the only one that is the best for battery XannyTech's EVOLUTION 2.0 ROM. With that ROM, I'm getting 3 days of normal usage with radio 2.10.50.08_2. Beside battery, the ROM is great.

True,
But I am not asking for people to make the decision for me. All I am asking for is people's experiences with different radio's to help me decide.

and as Starfury mentioned only you can answer that question
Flashing a Radio does not take long, so just download a couple and try them out for yourself to find out which fits your needs best. But dont forget to leave the Radio on for at least 2 or 3 complete battery cycles to let it settle down before going ahead to the next. I did this for myself as well (took a while but nevertheless) and now have 4 Radio Versions in a Subfolder on my SD card so that when i move around i can quickly change to a better Radio for the certain Task i need the phone to perform.
I found 2.10.50.x.x to be the best radio for battery use, this works wonders in standby mode, it hardly ever goes down on the meter.

i agree with radio 2.10.50.08_2 good reception and good battery..
I can´t second that.
I tried the 2.10 Radio too but i had no good battery. With 2.08.50_02 i had much better battery.
So you only can try some radios and find the best way. Some radios can be very good with a specific rom and be worse with another rom.
2.10.50.08_2 good reception and good battery
2.10.50.28_2 has good reception and battery life for me in Melbourne.
Cheers

best radio for me too(reception & battery)
The entire debate on this question is subjective....the same Radio+ROM combo will not perform best for everyone "Worldwide"....
You may narrow it down Country-wise though...
thanks guys for all your responses. I have been able to chose a suitable Radio for my HD2. As I live in Australia I will be using 2.10.XX.XX radio as it seems to work best here.
Thanks again.
2.10.50.28_2 works perfectly in Canberra
How is battery life and reception on 2.12.50.02_2?
i just tried the new radio 2.14. Pretty good reception, when i go to the carpark, always no signal. However, after tried 2.14 radio, it will get at least signal for me to call out.... maybe you can try it.
2.12.50.02_2
I am using now 2.12.50.02_2 and i think it has improved the reception and the battery by aprox 20% vs the stock radio 2.05.51.05_2. In my room, with the old radio i had 1 bar of signal or none now i have al least one usual 2 and rarely 3. So for Romania i would say is pretty good so far.

Baseband/Radio/Modem

I flashed Axura 2.1 and the battery life is fantastic. The screen seems to be the only thing draining my Battery life. However the fact that there is nothing else draining my batter except the screen has highlighted that my Signal strength is really low. Stays around 88-93 dBm with 13 asu.
Now i have been checking other android phones and they never go above 86 dBm. This has lead me to question whether it is my Modem/Baseband/radio
or it is just my Vibrants faulty antenna.
Another question is that i came across this thread about reflashing radios. It said that it would be necessary at one point anyway. however, i have flashed two custom ROMs so far and no mention of radio reflashing. Do the roms reflash the radios themselves ?
I am guessing Modem/Baseband/Radio are the same thing. could someone shed light on this ?
roms and radio are not the same! I think its the modem your looking for. Depending on the rom you flash whatever modem they chose to use for that rom then thats what your gonna get. But if you dont like it you can flash a different one.
The Ji6 has much better signal but at a cost of battery life.

Horrible battery life on 1.58.502.1

Am I the only one? I just updated 3 days ago with RUU to the latest build. Before the update a full charge would last me about a day and a half with moderate use. Now with the new update I am lucky to last half a day without it going into Power Saving Mode, then about 2 hours later it will be in Extreme Power Saving Mode. Anyone else getting sh!tty battery life since the update?...

At the risk of sounding like a noob.... Whats ART?
Battery life is incredibly complex and elusive. Asking if other experience the same is all but useless. Reason being, such comparisons are just anecdotal and will often not apply to you. There are simply too many variables, such as how you use your phone, what apps, and often most important is reception in your local area. It could be that the new radio deployed with 1.58 simply does not play well in your area. The intent is to always be "improving" the radio software, but its the minority of cases where it actually gets worse, which can greatly affect battery life.
Also, I've seen a lot of cases where AT&T bloatware runs out of control and kills the battery. You might start by looking into this. There are various apps that allow you to accurately see what apps are using battery (in addition to the Usage in Settings). Lots of folks here seem to like Watchdog Task Manager.

Right I understand that, but what I'm really asking are those who updated to 1.58.502.1 from the older build, did you notice a decrease in battery life... Not trying to compare my battery life to someone elses, I get how that is an impossible answer.

How is asking if anyone is noticing decreased battery life after 1.58 any different from comparing battery life? Its the same thing.
I can guarantee that there are some people that have experienced worse battery life; and some have seen the same or better battery after 1.58 (as this has and will occur for any new OTA/RUU).
Not trying to be argumentative, but my point is whether folks have seen decreased battery life or not is somewhat irrelevant, and isn't going to solve your problem. Better to look into what processes are actually causing the drain, and go from there.
try booting into stock recovery and wiping cache partition...has helped some folks in past
I actually did what dudeluv said and am using ART now. Waaaaay better battery life, actually better than it was previously. Havnt ran into any bugs in it yet either. But we will see as time goes on.

Oh yeah, full charge yesterday, using it just as much as I normally would and when I plugged it before I went to be still had 86% battery life. Compared to being on 15% by 4 in the afternoon.
