So even with a new ROM this problem still happens? I had a phone that did that, it was a refurbed that ATT sent out to me. I had to send it back.

well, hopefully you didnt update the phone to the wrong type of ROM(CDMA vs GSM). Who is your carrier? and what rom did you try and flash?
Did you use Hard SPL first before flashing??

Honestly if the phone is only a day old from a store I would exchange it and be more careful flashing. If this is not an option, you will have a difficult road a head of you. Try searching around. If I wasnt at work I would search for some threads for you. There are a LOT of people here who can help.

I had to have my S2 replaced under warranty this week because of failure of the USB port. The replacement came with ICS 4.0.3 already installed. After a day of getting all my stuff moved over, rooting the phone, and re-installing all my apps today I went out and paired the phone with my 2012 Ram. My previous S2 has worked flawlessly with this vehicle since day one. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get my Outlook contacts to sync to the phone via Hotmail Connector, only the Google ones. This had been working for me prior on rooted stock GB. The truck had no problem pairing, but doesn't want to dowload the phonebook for some reason so I can't use voice dial and incoming calls are not recognized. Is there enough difference between GB and ICS to have caused this? I don't want to go back to GB, but this is a deal breaker. I don't really see all that much improvement with ICS anyway. I need my phone to work as it was.:crying:
Test gb and see

Dude you should have waited to get the replacement. The USB part for my phone just came in today and I just finished installing it. I'm charging up my phone now and will report back in your original thread on whether or not the charging indicator stays there after I unplug it. Replacing the chip was super easy, btw.
Edit: it wasn't your thread, but you posted in it. It's in the Q&A section.

Pointless thread? I don't want to downgrade, I wanted to find out if anyone else had seen an issue like this or had something better to reply with other than, "Flash back and see." Sorry if I took up space better used by another clueless newb asking how to revert to stock or how to flash his Skyrocket.
FYI, I finally got the Outlook/Hotmail sync working (I would tell you how, but since no one cares...). Now to see if I can get my phonebook to download to the truck. As for Lekerstein, I really didn't want to be messing with the USB connector when the phone is still in warranty. By getting a replacement I also now got another month added to my warranty and an updated phone, so I'm good. Hope yours works out for you.

Well seeing as the problem started on non GB then it would seem that ICS is the culprit

Yes and no. It appears that the original method that worked on GB for setting up MS Exchange sync of the phone with Outlook via Hotmail no longer works on ICS. I simply tried a different method and that was the charm that worked. The functionality is still there, it just takes a different setup method to get it to work.:good:

Is rooting the device the only way to get rid of this? Is there a way without root to disable this?
if you are with sprint, if you read the Sprint TOS that you signed when you got the phone it says that rooting will not void your warranty they just ask that u put it back to stock when upgrading or having service done to it. Who has ever went to upgrade their phone and the rep put it in to download mode to check something like that? And when I had my s2 rooted and needed service on the ear piece I just left cm 10 and all my stuff just the way it was and they never said anything to me about it.

I forgot to move my rooted tether app from my home screen and took it for service. The rep looked down, looked up at me, and went to a different screen to work from. Classic.
yeah, when I went to Sprint to have my last phone looked at, the rep asked me point blank if the phone was rooted -- but it was not in an accusatory way, it was more a "I need to know for the purposes of what I'm doing." Did not get the sense from the way she asked that it would have made a bit of difference to her in terms of whether they would still work on the phone.
As an aside, does anyone know what exactly could be causing the alert? It popped up when I was logged onto an airport wifi network, which gives me some concern.

Guys please help
My HTC One max cannot connect on the WIFI at my home after I updated to 4.4.2. At first I can connect when I was on 4.3 then I update it and successfully installed. The problem turned out when I reset my phone and suddenly I cannot connect to my WIFI anymore, on my office it can connect and only in my house cannot. Any idea how it can be fixed?
Appreciate and thanks in advance for the help.
Try this - http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.ae/2014/02/how-to-fix-wi-fi-htc-one.html
Open Settings panel and click on the "Wi-Fi" tile
Tap on the "3 dots" menu in the upper right corner
From the list select "Wi-Fi Direct"
You will now see that your device is called "Android_ed2c". Tap on the "3 dots" menu in the upper right corner
From the list select "Rename device"
Replace the "Android_ed2c" with the "HTC One" text and hit "OK" button
Done!

Actually I dont have idea to config it since it was not mine and we are just sharing by my flatmate. If ever I will root this and install custom ROM, possible to fix this problem? what ROM can you recommend running on 2.49 hboot.
Dude thank you so much actually since my last HTC butterfly i already stop rooting because i got so very busy now on my work, need also to review the rooting / s-off techniques nowadays.

oh mate, you should have s-offed before the update.. we don't have an s-off for hboot 2.49. well i think we don't have a solution for this thing with custom ROM's. been a bug somewhere, the best solution is to re-configure your router.
we ill do this mate, get in touch with me (PM/skype) over the weekend and i ill try to help you reconfigure your router while maintaining the backward compatibility of WPA so your roomy will not have a problem
the weird thing though is that i too the Etisalat router and it seems to work fine

i am confident that this will be fixed by HTC, this was the the big reason why the updates to kitkat for the original HTC One was delayed and HTC seems to have managed to fix it, atleast for the HTC One. I was thinking that this update would have fixed it and sadly not.
The original HTC one received 4.19.401.8 initially and then later on received 4.19.401.11 which fixed the WiFi issues.
i am hoping that HTC will do the same for the MAX too.
On a second thought, we could try pulling the files from that update and see if that fixes them.

To be honest it would t matter either way. You could flash it but the min they check the esn and it's not in their system then it will be a fight.
When I last worked for Verizon we were trained on what to look for and to flat out deny any device not in their system.
I would flash it first but like said it won't matter much either way.
