this piece of crap phone started to go worser by the minute.
First, it heats up the battery whenever i use wifi or 3g and it will also shut down. Switch battery and it will last a bit longer then still shut down.
Now, it give me this problem where a 91% charged battery would turn out to be red under 5% once insert. The battery indicator will recover slowly over time for no reason.
And i am also having trouble charging the battery by phone, if i charge the phone by usb when the phone is ON, the phone will heat up and turn off and continue to heat up for infinity until unplug.
I don't know what should i do with my x10 anymore... i am not paying out another 700 bucks CAD for a new phone in canada after just 1 years use *out of warranty*.
anyone have a fix for these? or know how do i revert back to 1.6 android?
Where is justice! Samsung should crush Sony already.
Hello
Last week i bought the phone, and used it till the phone battery was empty. I tried to recharge the phone, but i wouldn't go on, only the red light blinking. I had the phone charged for 2 days, with the og charger, no result. Looked like the phone was dead.
Today i tried it again, still no result. All of a sudden the phone turned on and was charging. It is now on 99% and working just fine
Should i contact HTC?
I'd see if it happens again if you let it drain again.
If so, take it back to the store, they will give you a new phone if you can reproduce the problem there.
I have also experienced this issue when letting the battery go till the phone shuts down. I usually have to just unplug the charger and then it will boot up again.....but if i don't unplug it will not turn on and just blinks red.....
One night I fell asleep doing a nandroid back up (Yes I flash till I drop), I had the phone on the charger while doing so. I woke up 6 hours later, was still in recovery and with the battery fully charged.
What does this have to do with the op? Nothing, but I thought it was pretty cool.
I see these stories all the time, STOP DOING IT!!!!!!! You aren't suppose to drain batteries till there completely empty. You are doing damage to your battery when you do this. The battery has built in protection circuits and when you completely drain the battery the protection circuits can't operate. This may be the cause of the battery failing to recharge after a complete drain. That is why resetting the battery by unplugging the charger or removing the battery and reinserting usually works. I don't understand why you would ever need to use the phone till it shuts off. If that's the case bring the damn charger with you or invest in a second battery.

It happens when you can't find a charger, sometimes you don't think you'll be out as long, and end up in a dead zone, BAM dead battery.

Well me i am always running around in the streetz. With my Evo 4g i would walk around with 2 extended batterys and 2 regular HTc red batterys. I am a heavy user texting, phone calls, internet all day long. and some times i leave the house at 9. a.m. and don't get home till like 1.a.m the next morning. i will be getting that 4000 mah battery shortly.
I have a problem where if the phone is off and charging, it wont turn on. I have to unplug it, turn it on, and then replug it.

Moving to Q&A
Hi all,
I am posting here after hours of research on my problem. Unfortunately I have not found anyone else posting similar issues so I decided to make a thread. *sigh*
okay so, I bought my samsung vibrant (t-mobile) from a seller on kijiji. He let me know ahead of time that the battery life "sucks" .
okay so, here is my problem. I have two batteries that were given to me when I purchased the phone.
1 standard samsung battery, and 1 generic ebay china battery. He told me he wasen't sure if the "china battery" worked.
okay so, the samsung battery did not last long at all, even with minimal use, ensuring that background applications were closed etc etc, I did my best to ensure optimal battery life as I had read so many tips and tricks on this forum many times over before.
But, I left my phone to charge one night, and the next day my phone wouldn't turn on, instead when I press the power button, a loading circle would display on the screen and it would show the battery charging screen when your phone is off, and it would flash on the screen for oh about 3 seconds then go black.
so I switched the battery to the ebay battery. it was working alright, I downloaded a battery application to monitor how much it was actually charging etc.
on the first day, the max power it seemed to charge would be about 68%.
by the second day it was around 45%
the third day, 23%, and now, today, my phone battery has died, I had it charging, and I managed to turn it on. I checked my battery application, and it said the battery was at 0% and it was attached to the adapter in an outlet charging but not holding the charge I guess. Well, I turned the phone off, and the same thing that happend with the previous battery is happening with this one, that loading circle thing, and the battery charging indicator flashes on for 3 seconds and no charge.
I purchased a new battery online, I am just waiting for it to arrive, but I am beginning to wonder if this is a problem with my phone or if it is a battery issue?
As of right now the phone wont turn on because of the "dead" battery.
any diagnostic help would be greatley appreciated.
it's most likely your battery. unless the usb is broken. have you ever connected your phone to your usb? the batteries the ebay gave you sounded like they needed to be replaced anyways. i suggest you go on amazon and get the anker 1800 mah battery.
Most likely you are going to need a new battery. If you know someone with a Vibrant or Captivate, maybe borrow their battery to see if your phone boots up with it. If you have a battery charger only, so that you can charge the battery outside of your phone and insert a fully charged battery, see if that works.
The Samsung advice they always give is to remove the battery and hold down the power button for about a minute. Then reinsert battery and try again. GL
My friend has the same problem with his Vibrant, his phone will charge to maybe 75% max. Except he has bought 3 different batteries (2 oem and 1 aftermarket) and they all have the same result. I've been trying to help him find a solution before he "breaks the damn thing" lol
I'm starting to think its a factory defect or something.
Hi there anyone have any ideas been using my Z2 since last Friday and yesterday for some reason the device will not charge to 100 % only goes up to 96%
I have tried a different charger and still get the same problem , Also downloaded Sony pc companion software and run the repair tool to see if it resolves the issue and still same problem
Try discharge battery to 1-2% (some advise even till auto-off device) and then fully charge with bundled charger.
Mine does the same thing, don't worry.
The reason this happens is that once your battery is at 100%, it stops charging automatically, and the device waits for it to get down to 99% before starting to charge again.
Is it possible that you just keep catching it at 99%?
Mine will charge about 1% every four minutes until it hits 99%. Then that last one percent takes a couple of hours. This is according to the power/percent list in gsam. It's done it consistently from day 2. Day 1 it failed to charge beyond 80% overnight.

thanks for your help I will try a full discharge and then try charging it and see how it goes
Finally battery is flat the phone turned off , charging it now with the sony charger which came with the z2 , will let you know what happens
I did a live chat with sony and they say the device is faulty and needs to be repaired
I have rang my network provider and they will send me a new z2
96% charge and wont charge no more!!
would really like to understand what is the solution to the problem.
This is really annoying . Please need all possible inputs.
Do you think its a product issue and needs to be replaced with a new piece.
Mine charges, but...
My Z2 will charge to 100%, but after it gets to 95% the screen turns on, and stays on.
If I push the power button on the phone to turn the screen off, the screen will turn off for between 0.5-1.5 seconds, and then turn itself back on.
I have gone through quite a few settings on my phone and can't find anything that might affect this other than perhaps "Night Mode" - which I have disabled.
Please help, my provider refuses to replace my phone even though I got it brand new from them and it's only 21 days old... I do love the phone, I just hate this issue - I can't leave it charging over night, or run the risk of having the phone over heat (it happened once, this is how I first found out about the problem, I had to leave the phone off with a fan on it for a good hour before it was cool to the touch again.)
@The Midnighter
I think you have a faulty unit, mine (2nd one) doesn't even overheat unless I have severe CPU/GPU intensive apps running. Never had a charging problem either... Get it replaced mate
I always charge the phone power off, when it is full charged I get the vibra notification and the phone is 100%.

I forgot to mention - you reminded me.
When I leave my phone off and plugged in, it will charge to 100% - however I have to do a HARD RESET every time I go to turn my phone back on, after turning it off. (Holding power and volume up) or it sticks on the "SONY" screen and will not advance.
Since xperia S there is a feature which helps battery keeping good condition
Its charge to 100% and turns charging off till 95%
Its all becouse integrated battery
This is not a bug or problem

It is indeed a problem, because the screen is staying on and causing my phone to over heat - it once over heated so badly because of this I had to leave the phone off for a very long time.
The phone doesnt charge at 100% and the magnetic charger not work

I have the exact problem. The phone work ok for a few days and then stop charging at 92% and the screen stay on. I plug the charger in the night and in the morning was only at 92% and hot, very hot.
A few days ago I bought a dock charger and an usb cable to plug in the magnetic lateral charging port. And with both chargers the phone shows the charge icon for a second and desapear for another second and repeat the loop.
I try everything in the software level. Restore the firmware using pccompanion and also flash the lollipop firmaware but the problem persist. Just not tried delete the battery stats because my phone is not rooted yet.

Did u manage to fix the problem? Or did anyone here manage to fix the battery charging issue? Mine charges to 78%, then sometime 85% then hard-reset - 91%. Cant charge anything above that! : <
There's no real fix, you can only hope a rollback to KitKat might help. See this lengthy forum post on the sony forums:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z2/Lollipop-charging-bug/td-p/965384
Spanning from april until right now...
Mine only gets to 70-80% on an overnight charge.
Mine charges and discharges constantly, I try change the cable, the AC adapter, the usb on my computer, the micro usb port to magnetic... Always is the same.. and another times charges too good.
Some times charge to 99% and discharge to 98%.. so I disconnect and connect again and charges to 100%
Maybe it's a Lollipop .232 problem in some devices?
Hi! Same problem here, sometimes my phone doesn't charge to 100% and I have to unplug the charger and plug it in again to get 100%. I think it's pretty common, but if your phone only charges till a low percentages and just doesn't charge further, it might be so that the phone's afflicted with the Lollipop charging bug. We can only wait for Marshmallow then
So guys i got few questions about it.
Lg v10 has quick charging feature so i wanna know that how that works.
its works always, and any % ? or there is a certain point for it to work. im asking this bcus today i had 10% battery left and i plugged in its original charger with original cable which supporting quick charge. it was charging normally till 32%. i realized that and i plugged off charger and plugged back again it was still normal charging . then i again plugged of and closed phone and plugged it back when phone was off. it otomatically started phone and i entered my pin code. boom it started to quick charge
sso can some 1 explain me that quick charge?
Also that hifi dac works with bluetooth earbuds? like hbs910 - hbs 1100 or samsung level u pro ?( sorry my bad english )
Hmm... I'm under the impression quick charge only works with the screen off. Could that have played a part in this?

My V10 also meets this issue. when your phone running out of battery at 0% lowest level, it is hard to activate the quick charger, i have to replug and unplug charger many times 10 times more to activate the charge process, the screen with phone and cable keep blinking and blinking...
But if your V10's battery still remain and you wanna charge, you just unplug and re-plug about 3 or 5 times, the quick-charge will activate. I have no idea if this relates to Software or Hardware issue.
SOLVED: my cable connecting my charger and phone is broken, change the cable, issue is solved!
Well I didn't think that I ll need quick charge since I was using z2 bcus I could have a full day no matter how much I use the phone. It was charging like in 3.5 hours. So I was charging it only when I go bed. But since v10's battery life isn't that good I realy need quick charge. I waited few months for bot buying first wave of v10 but still I bought first wave I guess. Let's hope it's software problem and get fixed soon

Well for me it works all the time. When i connect my original cable and charger i always get quick charge notification and it takes around 1 hour to fully charge the battery. I recommend though to leave the phone connected on charger for around 1 to 1.5 hour more if possible. This way the phone tops the battery charge fully getting additional around 200mA charge. You can install battery monitor widget from market and you will see that the phone continues to slowly charge after telling that battery is full. This stops when battery ot charged to the max.
0% to full takes 1 hour? that is rly nice since mine takes atleast 90 mins... even it says quick charging
