HELP! My phones getting replaced tomorrow.. - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need to get my phone back to the state it was in when it was new as im having it replaced by Orange tom morning.
I have it rooted with mcr 2.8 installed.
I cant upgrade the rom to an Orange one as i keep getting errors from the stock one.
I cant unroot either as that does not appear to be working for me.
Plus i have cyanogenmod 1.4 which i need to remove too.
I have tried all sorts of ways to get back to stock and so far i have managed to install a stock Orange rom by the same way you install a modded one.
So i just need to remove the modded recovery image and unroot.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Did you perform a Nandroid back up before rooting?

noooooo... oops

Download this and run, should return everything to normal release version. Including recovery image.
ftp://xda:[email protected]_UK_2.73.61.5_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
Edit: just noticed you might have tried this already, if that is the case, ignore.

Step 6 to Unroot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576565

Ive tried that. That didnt work it came back with errors.

Try the goldcard method and flash it with the original rom

Goldcard method + original Orange rom linked in the top sticky. That should work.

hey not sure if this helps but try this link how to unroot HTC hero
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/03/how-to-unroot-the-htc-hero/
good luck man.

The goldcard method isnt working. It says permission denied when trying to get the sd card cid code.
Also the unlocker method doesnt work as i get errors whilst trying to install any RUU file.

I think its because ive managed to unroot it but im not sure as ive tried so many things.
I just need to remove the modded boot recovery thingy now!
He`s coming for the phone 9am to 1pm. HELP.....

used both 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 files, both the same.
Try using BTDAG's guide in my signature.
Let us know if/where it throws up errors.
AHA,...
Is this where you get issues,....

more accurate 2.73.x.x
x= some numbers
you need to use the goldcard method first. It worked for me with an orange phone
You MIGHT be able to just downgrade to 2.73.61.5 WITHOUT a goldcard, then just install flashrec and then the amon-ra recovery.
MIGHT!!!
But again, follow BTDAG's guide I said earlier, everything you need to know is there.
hey, ive sorted out the problem.
i while back i was trying to download the htc software but had a bit of trouble, wouldnt accept my serial number. so a mate gave me a copy of it
he gave me the 2.73.6 version and i loaded it
i decided to to download the software off the htc website again and serial accepted and it was the 2.73.5 version. went through the whole thing again and it worked like a beaut!
Got the new rom install, just gotta figure whats new.
so the problem was the htc rom was a different version that i should have had.
but thanks guys for all your help, i really appreciate it!

[Q] How can I Factory Restore?

I have an unrooted HTC Aria (AT&T) that i upgraded to Froyo a couple of weeks ago. I have been using it for a while and i don't like the performance with the new upgrade, it used to be a LOT snappier before.
I would like to know if its possible to revert the phone to Factory Defaults (Eclair 2.1) and where i can get the ROM since HTC is no longer providing it in its website.
I'm not interested in rooting my phone nor custom roms i just want it the way it was at the moment I took it off the box and turned it on for the first time.
If the downgrade is possible I would really appreciate if someone could provide a list of steps to follow to make it happen.
Thanks in advance.
Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971119. You can but you will still have the updated HBOOT (Bootloader). You will have to use the ROM linked in post 3 (Original 2.1 Rom)
P.S - Search before starting new threads on the same topic.
http://www.mediafire.com/?cj56c2gfk86k8oe
This is the original ship ROM. I downloaded this back when I first got my phone (first day the Aria was released) and have kept it for future use. This was even before they added the ability to receive OTA updates, so you won't even have to worry about being notified about the 2.2.2 OTA update.
Now, you should be able to just run this and have it downgrade everything (except HBOOT, but that isn't a problem unless you want to root). I haven't actually done it before but it should work.
If it doesn't work, there is another way that will definitely work, but I'll explain that if the need arises. Let me know if you run into any problems.

It is possible. You can downgrade everything except the HBOOT. (Meaning, he will have the original ROM like he wants but be unable to use Unrevoked, which he doesn't care about.)

To be honest the advice from those threads is not really very good anyway. You don't need temp root on your device. There are easier methods that ought to work fine. Namely, just putting the 2.1 RUU zip as LIBEIMG.zip on your SD card. But from what I've read, even just running the RUU should be enough.
(Nevermind, this doesn't work.)
Thanks for you advice, in fact did some research before creating the thread, but all the threads i found were about people who wanted to downgrade to get the root back, so they were either redirected to other threads or were given a lot information not relevant to what i really need.

Don't give up yet. This next method should work if that one didn't.
Download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?ct1ay7t93d8g742
Rename the zip file as LIBEIMG.zip (don't extract it) then place it on your SD card (not in a subfolder).
Then turn the phone completely off, and press VOL DOWN + power to turn the phone back on. It should detect the file after a couple seconds and start flashing it automatically. At this point just be patient for a minute or two, then press VOL UP key to start the update process when it asks you to. After that, be patient while it does everything. It takes about 5 minutes to finish installing everything and will reboot once during the process. After it's done (it will tell you when it's done), the phone will reboot and there will be a scary looking screen but JUST WAIT about 10 seconds and it will boot normally. Then you're good to go.
After you're done with this, make sure to DELETE the LIBEIMG.zip file from your SD card. Otherwise it will ask you every time you go into HBOOT if you want to apply the update.
Good luck.

Unfortunately this method doesn't work either, it throws an error that says "Main Version is older, Update Fail!"
I could have sworn I've read about this working before. I would have tested it first myself but I don't have a phone that isn't S-OFF. Sorry for making you jump through hoops.
You could try the methods in the other threads linked above. I guess you do need temp root to do a downgrade.
Alternatively, you could use AlphaRevX to S-OFF, install Clockwork, and install the factory original, unrooted ROM. The downside of this is that it requires voiding your warranty if you have one.
Easiest way would be to run the official 2.2 RUU update from HTC. 100% stock.

[Q] CM 10.1 folder issue

Hello friends,
This is my first ever post on xda, I've been rooting and flashing for about 2 years now, and xda has always been spot on when it came to finding solutions, anyhow I have stumbled upon a problem for which I am unable to find a solution for, this message is a distress call, kindly help me out.
I was using a rooted hox+ for a couple of months now with a 4.2 pure rom without any issues, I felt like checking out the cm10.1 by lloir , so I downloaded all the necessary files and stuffed in into my phone. I cleared up my dalvik caches and made a full wipe (factory reset ), then I flashed the rom ( CM10.1 by lloir) and the gapps bundled with it, and then the appropriate kernel (mentioned in the rom thread, I made sure It was the very same ). every thing went on perfect untill i the rom got booted, after which i wasnt able to use any of my gapps nor download anything frm the browser, Now I am aware that this is because of the change from 4.1 to 4.2 where the default folder is changed due to multi user thing. Ive read and searched the threads for any possible solution, I stumbled upon a similar situation by a xda member "member" on the CM10.1 thread, he had the same problem that i was facing which he got through, but he got through it by accident which is why I am unable to track his steps for a solution. Now the situation is such that I have and erased sd card with no data at all, the only thing that is fine is that the ROM and the recovery are in a working condition. Im unable to sideload anyother roms or any of that stuff.
Due to the fact that this is my first post I cant directly post anything on the CM10.1 thread which is why im trying this indirect method, any senior member who can help me out here or any moderator who can get me through to the CM10.1 thread, I would appriciate that a lot. I really need my phone back with working google apps and a proper file structure compatible with 4.2, I was wondering if i could manually create a folder wich may accomplish that but I wouldn't know how to, any light on that would also be of help apart from any other solution.

First did you try clearing Cache and Data for GAPPS in setings>apps?
Do you have CWM or TWRP installed? Have you tried sideloading another Rom through recovery?
Well, your sdcard is wiped so i take it all your important files were backed up. Easiest solution would be re-lock the bootloader and use the RUU for your device. Then unlock bootloader and re-root. Not optimal i know, but it will work.

Firstly thankyou for a quick response,
Yes, I did clear the cache.
I use CWM recovery, I tried sideloading through it, all the drivers are installed properly, but I'm unsure as to why the sideloading through the One X+ toolkit doesn;t function, anyhow as advised above I shall defenitely try re-locking the bootloader, but as far as the RUU is concerned I wouldn't know which one is for my device, If you could help me locate it and mention a few steps regarding its implemention, I'd be grateful. Im using the international version of the HTC OneX+.

Your device is not endeavour, but endeavor C2. it is shown as ENRC2B though
the problem is i can't pinpoint your device. just no way for me to tell which version you need. if you look at this link, you will see that there are many options for international version of HOX+. I have the ATT version.
One of those RUUs is for your device. You might want to take a look and see if something looks like it would work for you.
using ADB to get CID
1. boot into bootloader (volume down + power button) or connect phone to pc via usb, in adb type : adb reboot-bootloader
2. you're now in bootloader
3. type fastboot getvar cid (in windows) or sudo fastboot getvar cid (in ubuntu/debian), you'll see cid:HTC_044 (my case)
Then look here to find out which version
k I got it... its HTC__J15
I've downloaded the firmware.zip but i can't get through to the dropbox link for the RUU variants in the above mentioned thread !!!

[Q] Looking for Blu Life Play L090a Stock Rom

I need help!!
Trying to flash the stock roms I received from here-->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2370987
I always get a mismatch error suggesting that the software I'm loading isn't correct. Looking at my phone, the model is a bit different.
It's (L090a) while the models listed are (L100a & L100i).
My phone's recovery has been blocked by my carrier Digicel so I'm unable to enter recovery, let alone do any backups via CWM.
Does anyone have access to this stock rom? or at least the correct preloader will do.
Unlocked bootloader?

Well, in short, not yet. But there's hope.
Curently, I have no access to CWM. I was a bit hasty and flashed a ROM for a Blu Life VIEW! My phone couldn't boot, was bricked. I tried flashing the cwm files from lopestorm and I had access to cwm for the first time, but even after flashing the stock L100 files, it couldn't boot. Used a friend's blu life play to extract the stock rom using MTK Droid Tools. Tried hard to revive it.
Currently it's working but back to square one. When I flash a new recovery file (which worked before) the phone doesn't boot and needs to be reflashed and reformatted. Hoping to get some help from a professional. Just have to figure out a way to get the cwm to work.
Realised too that the bootloader being locked isn't a problem once you're using SP Flash Tools.

is there a list of roms that actually work with our device
Any news about the ROMs for this device? L090B. I am stuck with 4.2.1, and yes no luck booting other roms.

If you still have this file could you upload it. I really need a file to get mine working again. WOuld be very much appreciated.

Rooted phone, need to unroot but having problems.

I've been trying to unlock my phone with an unlock code but it hasn't been working.
I then saw that Superuser is on the phone and seem to recall rooting it at some point.
I need to unroot the phone but am confused by how to do this as I can't find the correct downloads I need to complete this task.
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S 4G Fascinate (SGH-T959P)
I'm not very experienced with this, so if someone can give me instructions and link me to the software I need, that'd be great.

download SuperSU from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
let it install and overwrite the other Superuser app you have installed, you may want to reboot just to make sure it installs properly. after that, go to the settings tab and looks for the option that says "permanent unroot" and run it.
i haven't actually tried this before, but it may work for ya. let me know how it goes.
I tried that earlier today about 10 times. Only once was I able to actually get SuperSU to install correctly and update the binary. Every other time it just hung up. The one time I did get it working it got stuck trying to Unroot. I wish that solution had worked, it would have been so much easier!
Well I finally found the firmware and have it reset back to factory Samsung firmware.
It took FOREVER to download but it did work in the end with Odin 1.85
I have to split the URL as I can't post links yet.
ht tp:// rapidgator.n et /file/ 3eee7663a73fff4315fefae7210d63a3
Remove the spaces, and that link will take you to the T959P stock firmware.

i was always curious as to why stock firmware was so hard to come across for this phone.. oh well. glad you got a solution. that would've been my next suggestion.
i kept a nandroid backup just incase all the stock firmares were gone just to be safe so if you need to get fully stock, custom recovery, then make a nandroid backup, it will be incomaptible with newer cwm, but its convertible with a tool ive seen before on xda-developers so u may need to look, as that and one more can make it into a twrp compatible also =)

this person is talking about the Telus Fascinate (t959d) which is not the verizon fascinate (i500).
t959d is good with i9000 roms. not fascinatemtd roms.
