Have a new Touch pro but its got the lousy Vodafone ROM on it. I want the default HTC ROM (black and white)
can someone post me the idiots guide (as i dont want to brick it) on how i acheive this. Assume i know nothing about updating ROMS....cos i dont!
thanks everyone

hi got mine yesterday
first of i would make an image
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507
although ive asked the author to make my raws into a bootable flash as i wasnt confident so we should have a chance of going back to vodafone stock is possible
then you need to consider hardspl
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
then a rom i really would recommend
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426099
all these answers come from this forum i would say do a bit of reading
also check out the wiki very useful
hth
thanks for the info...have you done yours yet?
yes the stock voda rom lasted 3 hours as i needed to charge it then i dumped the image hard spl then flahsed it and spent a little time setting the rom how i like it with a few extra programs
ive had a kaiser for a year now and work on a dialy basis with these phones
I had a quick look at the links...i dont even know what an "SPL" is....
is there anywhere that literally says..do this, then do that, then do this etc?
do you have the black and white HTC ROM now then, are there any quirks?
sorry to sound dumb but i have been waiting ages for this handset and dont want to brick it due to my lack of experience with flashing ROMS on phones.
thanks very much so far...
im running romeos as the link i sent u
its very good
there are instructions in the spl link i sent u on how to spl your device its quite easy:
Instructions:
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder. make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.)
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!
3) run RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe,
4) follow steps in the RUU, check device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
5) it should go to black screen now.
6) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 1.90.OliNex.

Dear Darren,
What exactly is/are your question(s)?
You must be a bit more specific...
Cheers.
P.S. PM me with you MSN Messenger and i will help you online.
P.SII. PM stands for Private Message
thanks for the posts to date.
As for specifics i am looking for the default HTC ROM (no amendments or additional features etc) as the carrier's (Vodafone UK) one is "not pretty"
I dont know what an SPL or RRU is so was looking for a step by step instruction on how i do this including backing up my existing ROM in case i need to return to it for warranty etc.
The last post was very informative, and i will have a look at this but i was basically looking for any help i could get.
thanks
Darren.
spl:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SPL Questions?
rru: (this is based on a different phone but much applies the same here)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=KaiserROM_FlashingFAQ
the link i gave u for dumping an image:
also contatins this link this looks like the stock rom ?
i have passed the raw files over to the jcespi2005 who very kindly is constructing them on this thread so we will have a back up of the voda stock rom
all you need to do is to read the hard spl link in this forum
this should be more than enough to get u going
can i ask why the stock rom? why not somethign better?
I ditched the Vodafone ROM sharpish @ the weekend.. Black & White and tons better now
Lots of very usefull information here, i will review and take the decision as to whether will do this or not. As for the question about the stock rom, this was purely the way it looked v's the vodafone rom. do the other roms have additional functionality then?
My Touch Pro should be here before the weekend from Vodafone. From looking around the forum this seems to be the latest stock HTC rom.

Hi,
I am using the Vodafone UK ROM on my new Touch Pro and have installed .NET CF3.5 and Advanced Config 3.3 which has some handy performance tweaks.
Using Regedit I changed the registry as below...
HKEY Current User\software\microsoft\activesync
\Body truncation = 20480 decimal
(This prevents "TRUNCATED TEXT" in my contact notes)
Due to warranty issues and the time involved, I don’t want to flash a new ROM unless there are significant improvements. With the above tweaks I find my device runs well. What is it about the UK Vodafone ROM that you think is lousy?
Regards,
J
Hi i am interested as well to see if i can go to the original htc rom.first of all i tried installing the latest update from the htc site but my serial number wouldnt allow me to(i have vodafone branded)tried the update that a friend downloaded for his htc tp but it didnt work either.I am new at this and i dont know lots of things about flashing.utube application is a minus and maybe other stuff that i will find further down the road. if i do the above will i be able to update the rom (the one that the htc site gives) even if i use a friends of mine in the future?should i just sell this one and get a proper htc branded.thanks
There is no need to get rid of a branded phone and get a HTC branded one. they are the same phone in most cases. You just need to change the ROM. This is actualy easy to do. It sounds hard and there are alot of warnings, but dont worry, if you follow the instructions it is very simple. I have done it recently on a UK voda phone. The speed increase of the phone is amazing.
I would hartly recommend doing it.
@ Justin0679, the Voda rom was ok, but the speed of a new rom is a GREAT improvment. Makes it as responsive a a IPhone.
Any noobs have any questions I am more than happy to answer, as believe it or not, I was noe once, Well 2 weeks ago..........
Will i be able after i replace the vodafone rom with the htc to get the updates from the htc site(even if i have to wait for my friend to download it for his phone first).what are the steps?

Hi,
sorry am a noobie to the scene but I was wondering is it possible to Upgrade my HTC Touch Pro to Windows Mobile 6.5? I am currently running the Elite RC3 custom rom. Its very good but i have a few niggles with it and i like the 6.5 interface and i hear it is better on battery and runs faster.
So is it possible to upgrade from Windows Mobile 6.1 to 6.5?
Regards

Before you get flamed lemme just say.....
Yep.....
cheers brannutz I fink i will be upgrading tonight then
6.5 runs like a champ on my Fuze.
Good luck and have fun trying out all the ROMS. Plenty of great ones to choose from.

Does anyone know the official release date for win mo 6.5, I'm kinda' sick of Betas...
I've only tried RRE 6.5, and it's about perfect for me. I wasn't sure about CHome at first, but I'll never go back to Manilla.
I've tried various ROMs until now, but I still think that the official ROM is the best... I did not have any problem with it... but I'd like to use win mo 6.5 on my Raphael...
Will there ever be one for TouchPro? So far I know 6.5 is only available for TP2 and Diamond2.... as an official upgrade.
win mo 6.5 for htc
can any suggest were to get win mo 6.5 for htc touch and how to install , thankx
does this work on my wizard???
or on my diamond??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Read that.......best source of info on updating the GSM versions.
Runs great on my FUZE, and as another poster stated, took me a couple days to warm up to the Chome UI, but, now that I have, the last update (RRE's), I did the "no manilla" version.
PLEASE!
There are countless posts for "noobs". Everyone is here to help out, but sometimes the frustration over answering the same questions 1,324 times gets old. There are sticky's at the top of EACH section, look for those.
I know there are at least 2 "noob" sticky's for flashing the roms for first timers. I'm not a vet at flashing, but I'm not a noob either, but, the sticky for first time rflashers is VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT and works exactly as advertised.
Please, if you want help, at least try to look for the answer. If you don't know how to do a search, or how to use this BBS forum, there are plenty of
help & FAQ's at the top of each board.
Have fun here, but please look before you leap

there isn't one and how can you get sick of BETAS when they aren't beta.
the roms out there are made from the officially updated versions that winmo makes so if anything they are the most updated as possible roms.

there is no new procedure to upgrade the OS you just flash the 6.5 rom, there is no new set up no new settings for the first time, just flash like normal.:]
Thanks so flashing a 6.5 ROM will also upgrade the OS from 6.1 to 6.5 right. Just want to make sure. I Do NOT want to brick my phone
Well, a ROM is what contains the OS so yes.

man i didnt know am a noob..lol..can somoene please send me a link or something to download ?
Some ROMS do not like certain phones, trust me your not the only one this has happened to. Try flashing a new ROM and it should work. I myself cannot flash certain Kitchens. When i do the same issue your having occures with my phone. Just reflash a new ROM and you should be good.
This is the latest official update for the HTC Touch Pro (Sprint). Used for restoring to stock "Over the Wire."

Its awesome. memory runs at 33% on start! over 200MB program memory available.
no freezeups! TF3D is perfect- no issues, bugs.
for people looking for a great 6.1 rom... this is it.
best thing is that activesync doesnt keep running!!!
And i always thought that the pro was nvr gonna get an update.. I was wrong! It was fun having my pro...
Sent from my EViO + PURE= PURE EViO 4G!
thx so much.... does the rom conclude Radio?
rollback ROM
Hey Whosdaman, is there a way I can rollback this ROM to the one which came with my HTC Touch Pro?? Mine is CDMA.
Just use this ROM. it is factory spec and you will not have any issues with taking this to sprint.
Also, a side note. all the refurb phones that sprint will exchange yours with, will contain this ROM as this is the "latest software"
its completely safe to use this ROM.
Any questions, just ask me.
Hello everybody, I am new in matter of Smarth Phones and more even, on HTC one's...
I have a HTC HD2 T-Mobile
Qualcomm 8250B 1ghz procesador
576 RAM
1024 Flash Memory Size
687.12 MB Storage Size
16 GB Micro SD memory
OS vrsion 5.2.219.13 (21913.5.0.94)
Manila version: 2.5.20181424.0
ROM version: 3.14.531.1 (04666) WWE
Radio Version: 2.15.50.14
Protocol Version: 15.42.50.11U
I want to know 4 things:
What is the ¨Radio¨ thing, as I said, I am new in this so I want to know what it is and what is it about, cause I hear people talking about fixing their bugs and freezes by changing it.... explanation?
What changes when changing the Radio? when you change it, it comes side by side with the ROM? or they are changed separatly...? (sorry about my english)
Can install ROMS for HTC HD2 normal version to a HTC HD2 T-Mobile version? without having problems?
And the last one.... I understand that the ROM is not the OS, since it is Win 6.5.... but.... what it is exactly then?... and can someone tell me about the MOST ESTABLE ROM available for my HTC HD2 T-Mobile? Doesn't matter if it's unofficial ROM, at least that it works fine and better than the original one that freezes a lot...?
PS. : I'm pretty good at computers (I like to think so...XD) and I learn fast, so please feel free to explain me how ever you can and I'll do my best to understand it. thnx!
Read sticky FAQ. All your questions are answered there
Hi Emilio,
Let me try to answer your questions - someone correct me if I'm wrong... this is what I've understood from browsing the forums for a half a year now...
The radio in your phone is what controls all wireless access, such as wifi and cell reception. Different radios have different battery life/better reception depending on the cellphone - I haven't seen anyone come out and say one is the best although I have been using 2.15 for quite some time now and it's pretty good. Just remember your radio has to be 2.xx.50 because of your type of phone (T-Mobile/TMOUS) or else you will brick your phone (it wont work).
Some ROMs change your radio when you flash - although I haven't come across any custom ROMs that do. In any case, any time you flash make sure the ROM says TMOUS or T-mobile supported! Also, before you flash you need HSPL (search the forums to find out what it is and how to use it).
The ROMs the the awesome chefs here make are usually based on WM 6.5 or 6.5.x - but you dont have to worry about it. For all purposes its Windows Mobile 6.5.x or 6.5 and all windows programs work, etc.
Which ROM is best? That's a long argument. I've been using Energy Roms for quite some time now - every time I flash I always make my way back to Energy in the end. Just go through the ROM section - most ROMs are good (actually so far I haven't come across a bad one) and they are almost all much more stable and smoother. Just remember to make sure it's TMOUS compatible.
Flashing HSPL, Radios, and ROMs are in the forum and perfectly well explained... just search and you'll see.
thank you man!

thnx! a lot!
one thing missed in the otherwise comprehensive answer above...
you have 3.14 rom, so as it stands hspl cannot be installed so cooked roms and radios cannot be installed.
should you want to try the cooked roms you would first flash the stock tmous 2.10 rom, which willdowngrade your spl and hspl3 will work.
oh! so I have to get to my old rom first after changing to the Energy ROMS?
yep. there are 3.14 based cooked roms coming out but not many, most are 2.x based so require the downgrade.
you don't have to wait for the flash to completely set up and running before you flash the cooked rom, as soon as the flash finishes, and windows begins to set up, pop the battery and enter bootloader, apply hspl, enter bootloader again and flash the rom.
