Hi,
I tried to put my hero in recovery mode. So I turned off the phone, then pressed menu key and power button, then I released power button and kept holding menu button. Icon with exclamation mark inside triangular and a phone appeared and I can't do anything. I can't turn it off or anything. What is going on? Please help.
Just take the battery off the hero and insert it again.
man dude, turn off the crank. your phone won't do anything without power, so just pull the batt...
btw, where did you read menu+power? never heard of that. recovery is home+power.

I think menu+power is fastboot
Thanks for your replies.
My mistake, it was not power+menu, but power+home. Why I don't have recovery mode and I get screen with icon instead?

I have just upgraded my hero from official 2.1 to froydvillain 1.7.0,
I used ROM Manager to finish this upgrade. Everything gets fine.
And now, I decide to update to 1.7.1 and 1.7.2.
The problem I am now facing is...
when I click "Reboot into Recovery"...
my phone will not reboot into Recovery anymore, but only stop at a screen with the word HERO...
Anyone could help? I successfully enter Recovery Mode when my first time of upgrade. I dont know why I cant this time. So I cant do any upgrade or flash another rom. Please help. Many thanks.
I think there are two other ways to enter in recovery mode.
1. Press and keep pressed HOME button while powering the phone on.
2. Enter in HBOOT (press and keep pressed vol down button while powering the phone on) and select Recovery option.
I hope this helps you.

I have tried these 2 methods but cant help.
(1) is what i did before and sucessfully flashed a customised rom for the first time. but after that, i did the same but cant enter recovery mode. its so strange. just stop on a screen in black background with HERO logo.
(2) I tired this too. I saw a white background with green text. But i cant find Recovery option.
Any other suggestions? Many thanks.
Problem solved.

Hey guys,
Just a small advice for those who didn't know.
If you want to flash another rom and you got a "battery low" in bootloader/ fastboot AP, don't be panic: make sure you've booted your device in fastboot mode. Then just press the power button shortly and the device will shut down completely. Now you can charge your device without any factory cable. You will also get the loading Stats displayed.
This works on bootloader version 0A.72 onwards

New Method?
spc_hicks09 From DroirRzr.com posted this. I'm trying it now, Will let you know how it goes.
Press and hold power and volume down until the screen flickers, release those buttons and quickly press all three side buttons (power, vol up and vol down). When the bootloader menu pops up, plug in the charger. Use the volume down button to scroll to the SBF option and use volume up to select it. Now press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds then release. This will automatically put your phone in the "powered down/charging" mode. Wait till the battery charges all the way then complete a fastboot. I just did this 3 days ago so I know it works.

This didn't work btw. Tried it and ended up having to force-charge the battery by opening the case and connecting the terminals with a stripped USB cable.
As the title suggests: I cannot select any options in CWM because my power button is broken. When cycling the battery CWM still appears. How can I just make it boot up without going into CWM?
Thank you so much for your help, in advance.

I fixed this issue by taking out the battery, plugging up the phone, then replacing the battery. This got it booted. I still am unable to unlock my screen. I need to remap my volumeup+volume down button to power or "unlock screen". Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi guys,
I was re-rooting my N9 using CF Auto Root after updating to 21R. Everything seemed to progress as expected but now I seem to be stuck at a screen with the dead android "no command" icon. Can anyone help me to understand what might have gone wrong and what I need to do to get back up and running?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Edit: I've tried every combination of key presses that I know and I can't seem to get it to boot back into recovery mode. It reboots but goes right back to the dead android....
What happens at the dead Android guy when you press power and volume up ? Anything at all?

Thanks for your help Dcaplinger!
I'm not really sure what happened but I was finally able to get back into recovery mode by holding the up volume button for several seconds and then pressing the power button and holding both until the recovery popped up.
Sorry for the false alarm!
Hi there,
a friend of mine gave me her completely original and stock Galaxy S 3 Neo that got stuck in a bootloop while she was using it.
If you power up the phone, it shows the Samsung Galaxy logo, then proceeds to load the animated logo with the music, but as soon as the first second of music is played, the phone bootloops.
If I try to boot in recovery mode (Home+Power+Volume UP), it bootloops.
If I try to enter Odin mode (Home+Power+Volume DOWN), it bootloops.
Could anyone please explain to me the steps I have to do in order to recover this phone? It is absolutely ESSENTIAL not to delete the internal storage data, because she keeps there many photos of his son (with no backup... how clever)...
Thanks a lot!
Do you see the download or recovery screen before it bootloops?

Yes. It reboots after just a few seconds I see recovery or dowload mode, bu it actually loads them before rebooting. The phone is even recognized by Odin just before it reboots.
Are you sure the battery is okay and fully charged? It's possible that the power button is stuck.

I don't know if the battery is ok... I tried to remove the battery plug the phone but it won't start without. I don't have another battery to try...
It may be the power button whereby the button is stuck in the "pressed" position.

The power button clicks ok so it doesn't look like it is stuck... I'll look more into it
Edit: WTF I can access download mode just by pressing Home and Volume down, so it seems the power button IS stuck even if it clicks normally...
Although it clicks, it may be stuck in the pressed position.
If you have a multimeter, you could test the power button contacts.
I found this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rOCa-hQQ2Ko
Damn, it really was stuck! I hit the side of the phone a bunch of time with a pen and the button got un-stuck! Thanks for the help!
