An official Spotify app is now available.

Room for improvements, surely, but how can I complain? I'm playing tracks from spotify on my Touch HD! Yay!!
Wishlist: Playlist and internal .ogg-playback.
Bugs: Sometimes when I play a track, return to myspot, select a new track is says that it cannot connect to myspot-servers or something, and asks if I have another spotify session running (perhaps on a different computer). I just restart myspot and it's just fine.
BTW: connect to myspot servers? Why do I need to get in contact with any other servers then spotifys?
Donated £5. I know, it's not much, but more to follow if this application reaches it's potential

Looks nice! Will try this out!
Fantastic, can't wait to try this out on the wifi tonight

It's spreading...in Sweden anyway....
Looks great! I've been waiting for a spotify app for winMo for ages now. Will monitor this thread closely
finaly!! Thanks alot

Yes, it is work in progress. I have added the features that I am working on to the 2nd post - the "To Do List". I will update this post with any other suggested recommendations I deem feasible, based on the user feedback it receives.

good stuff mate
Not working for me. Maybe because i use WM 6.5.1 on my diamond?
Everything works until CorePlayer 1.3.6 tries to open the spotify stream. I get an error saying: Network not available! (FFFFFFE8)
Network access is checked in CorePlayer and I have a premium spotify account. I also know my internet traffic works perfectly on my Diamond.

Please can you try connecting to the following test stream via CorePlayer?

This should play a short audio file (encoded using the ogg format).

Same error. Its like its not even tries to connect. The error message pop ups immediately after pressing OK. I think its something with Diamond and WM 6.5.1
Made some more research. If i connect my phone via ActiveSync and use my computers internet connection, it works fine! Not with 3G though.
Does the mySpot application use some kind of proxy to communicate with the Spotify servers? Does the application on the phone connect through your proxy?

Ah! Under my connection settings, I go via a proxy. I just unchecked this and now it works perfectly. I tried to setup CorePlayer to autodetect proxies and stuff but none of that work. But without this proxy it runs good.

Hi,
Perhaps it's not my place (Being a newbie )but thought this forum could do with a dedicated thread for comments regarding what software works on the Monet/Lobby and how to load it in.
What software is crap and what software is spectacular.
And where to get it and is it FREE!
I'm sure that I and others will visit frequently for the latest views & opinions.
Just for starters here are some truly FREE ringtones.
Just need to give 'A' email address. Dont bother with Email just download and use 'back-Arrow' to get them all.
Enjoy.
https://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/domore/ringtones.mspx
My 'must have' apps
1. Sprite Backup Personal Edition (Version 5.2.0) - very handy for backup and restore of your Lobby. You can create self-extracting restore 'exe' files on your micro-SD card 'just in case'.
2. Tom Tom Mobile (Version 5.200 (4450)) - brilliant Sat Nav.
3. Automatic Keylock (v3.87) by Danny Baumann. The normal Windows keylock (pressing the Red Hang Up button) doesn't work that good for me. When someone calls you, I had the nasty habit of answering the call before I could see who it was, or even cutting many people off when taking the phone out of my pocket. This app gives you a screensaver that locks the keypad down a little better.
4. RealDice Mutliplayer Championship Poker (Version 4.24). Like playing Texas Hold'em? Why not play against other people over GPRS internet connection? I love this game. Even the AI in the single player is very good. The running costs (in terms of KB playing over the WAP/GPRS) isn't, surprisingly, that much.
5. Avantgo - Sync up all the latest news for your long commute to work.
6. Resco Smartpack - contains System Toys (battery / memory status), Photo Viewer, a more powerful Explorer application and a registry editor. I know that you can get some of these for free, but this pack is trouble free and very well written.
7. TCPMP (aka BetaPlayer) - One big drawback for me is that Windows Media Player doesn't allow you to easily Fast Foward through your movies or music when you are playing them. TCPMP can do this plus it is a fab media player, and there are many other codecs available to play non-Windows files too.
8. CellDoom - If you are as old as me and remember playing Doom on your old 386 then get yourself CellDoom. Dig out your old Doom WAD files and drain your battery playing this
9. Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook (Windows Mobile Edition 2.5 (Build: 1258)) - Wish you could text as fast as the Young Guns? If you've got Outlook and a Smartphone then get this. Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook allows you to send SMS from your PC (via ActiveSync / USB connection). It will sync up all your Sent, Received and draft texts (SMS messages) on your Outlook too. Excellent for quick, long and multiple recepient messages.
10. Breaksoft Mobile Registry Editor. A PC based application that allows even easier registry access to your Smartphone.
Some of the above applications are free, others you will need to purchase. All can be found via Google
Only the "Automatic Keylock (v3.87) by Danny Baumann" requires the Lobby to be unlocked.
Excellent start to this list ringp3ace.
will def be trying some of these out.
you didn't mention whether or not Lobby needs to be unlocked first though.

Was in too much of a hurry to get some decent tunes and didn't notice that one.
Good game.
do a google search for 'Turn your Pocket PC into a'
theres actually some pretty cool things you can do. i liked the FTP server. damn easy for transferring files. the iPhone hack was cool for like 5 minutes. theres a bunch of others like:
2 way walkie talkie
Wifi Phone
Universal Remote (effin sweet)
Router (WMWifiRouter - awesome)
www.lifehacker.com has some awesome stuff also. search Pocket PC and you'll get alot of cool little tricks
Wow, guys.... Do I detect subliminal messaging?
nice find. The FTP Server link is pretty Rad. Have you verified that the software will work on WM6/6.1?
Did you try the Universal Remote and get it working? I know a lot of people have been wanting this.
One very simple app that incredibly oddly is missing is a dyndns client for windows mobile.
You'd think this would be one of the first applications, so that you all of the dynamic ip pocket pcs out there could get their own "permanent" address that people could use for FTP, http servers and other reasons. And it was. Some guy churned a little one out back in 2002. But it's now very buggy with WM5 and WM6.
I'm not a programmer, but I think these are extremely small applications that essentially just ping the dyndns.org site every once in a while (or every time their IP address changes) with a code that passes along the current IP address.
Sounds far more simple to make than most Pocket PC apps, but I don't see one anywhere. Another guy was in the process of cranking one out last year, but has since been apparently traveling in India for the last year.
yes ive tested the FTP server, not extensively. it was pretty sweet though.
i used the universal remote alot. it was awesome. you program it by holding the button of a remote down and letting the IR detect the signal, and you can map the command to a button. ive been trying to find one that can detect the 'Unlock' key on my car keys, so if i ever lock my keys in my car i can use my phone to unlock it. haha. that would be killer. works great on a TV though

I could probably do the DynDNS client using .NET, but I wouldn't really be able to test it since I don't have a data plan... but it would probably pull my IP from my Wi-Fi... We'll see if I have time next week to work on one, if I don't forget about it.

Your car most likely uses RF, not infrared. What software are you using to get it to be a universal remote? I tried novii and vito, but neither of them supported the titan's chipset

You said you used the remote alot, but are you referring to using it on the Titan? If so, I want to know what software setup you had.
Unlock your car through a phone line
I just tried this and it really works!
My wife and i were on a call 60 miles apart (she has an alias I have the titan), with her on my speakerphone. I had her press the unlock button on the extra remote and she unlocked then locked my car throught the phone line, no lie try it yourself! Fuggin awesome!!
I searched but could not find the universal remote software you are talking about - any help would be appreciated
(oops, delete this post please)
The best Universal Remote software EVER for windows mobile was called "Nevo"
Not sure if Nevo works on Windows Mobile 5/6, but worth a shot (see attached CAB file)

That is the amazing thing, there is no programs and you just need two phones of any make or model.
The phones transmit the RF signal.
Now what would be great is if we could save the sound of the RF and replay it if we lock ourselves out. After testing, I don't think .wav files or other encryption will work but I will keep trying.

No, by encryption I mean the way that the sound is decoded from the microphone into a file (possibly not the right word).
My thought is that the reason why it won't work to save a .wav file is that there is some way that the RF sound is decoding to the wav file that makes it not work.
thats pretty sweet you were able to do that. i tried that trick on an old LG phone a while back and it didnt work. never tried it on my 6800
According to many news sites from the summer (like these : http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2008/jun08/06-10BloombergMobilePR.mspx and http://visualstudiomagazine.com/news/article.aspx?editorialsid=9987), there is apparently a Bloomberg application for windows mobile similar to the iphone app. Yet, I cannot find any place to download this. Does anyone have any information on this?
Seems to be more or less an Asian thing, neverless here the MSN Search results: http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=Bloomberg+"Windows+Mobile"+download&src=IE-SearchBox
still cannot find a download site with that search from msn.com

yeah ...check out guys with above link ..its 472kb only cab file
Looks like you might need a Bloomberg Professional Account in order to use the Mobile Application.
I installed the .cab file on my phone, (then registered on bloomberg via the normal bloomberg website using my pc), but cannot login via the app on my mobile. It does not recognize my login name and I cannot register via the mobile...Any ideas???
Winmo is losing out big time.

Indeed, there is a bloomberg app for winmo, but it is not free. the site to download is http://bbmobile.bloomberg.com/winmo.html , but you got to register to use it. The normal account you registered cannot be use on the bloomberg winmo app. To use it, you need to call up to bloomberg and sign up a "bloomberg anywhere" account. I did call up for the same issue. to sign up, it will cost thousand per month, while iphone is giving it for free. Even Big Players such as Yahoo and Autodesk went over to iPhone.
Now u see the reason for iphone wave. If this continue, iPhone will monopolise the smart phone market. Some ppl like me, thought that Blackstone is a potential iPhone killer. After get the blankstone, I will say blankstone is good, BUT it is nowhere close to what iPhone have to offer. Some even think that Palm Pre could be the next iPhone killer. But after the review, I think not.
My next phone set could be iPhone. Hope Winmo will catch up by then. Good Luck to Winmo user like me. Major thing i still using Blackstone, is GPS and bluetooth. If iPhone can resolve these issue somehow, I dun think any of the other phones can stand before iPhone any more.
Its here! the non-pro version like for the iphone.
Been looking awhile for this, wonder why they are so quiet about it..

A light-weight application that provides access to media streams directly - eliminating the requirement for a (flash-enabled) mobile browser.
Requires a QVGA, VGA or WVGA device running Windows Mobile Professional (Pocket PC) 6.0 or higher (see the additional requirements below).
http://www.skynetsoftware.com/myPlayer
Features:
> Choose your own media player - define how each stream is played (CorePlayer v1.3.6 is recommended‡)
> Full streaming integration - browse the content as you would from any other supported device
> Extensive TV feed index - hundreds of live TV feeds from around the globe
> Live Radio stations - a selection of International broadcasts
> Custom TV / Radio stations - add your favourites
* CorePlayer is required to watch the high quality live TV channels (please use this config.xml for the best experience)
Requirements:
> A media player that supports RTSP streaming and the mpeg4 codec (CorePlayer v1.3.6 is recommended‡)
> The .NET 2.0 Compact Framework (which is bundled with Windows Mobile Professional 6.0 and above)
‡ HTC's bundled StreamingPlayer and Windows Media Player should also work for users with faster devices (for example the HTC HD2)
*** Whilst streaming video this application will use a considerable amount of bandwidth - please ensure you use it via an unlimited data policy ***
User feedback is always appreciated and should help to improve the usability of future releases.
myPlayer is an independent application and is in no way endorsed by or affiliated with any other content provider.
Latest version: 2.300
Thanks i am testing now trying to watch two pints of larger and a packet of crisps
*** Updated to version 0.2a ***
Change list:
-Menus are now displayed correctly on a 3G connection
-Some other minor tweaks
Works great on a Polaris. Also useable on a Blackstone WVGA. No problems at all and nice to have the standalone application outside of a browser. Only used wifi - can't afford data streaming.
Thank you much!
Any chance of WVGA version?

Yes, I am aware of that version. In some ways craftyb's app inspired me to create the myPlayer app.
This application is a more light-weight alternative (approx 50kb at the time of writing). I tried the iPlayer app on my Kaiser but it didn't like it very much. The stream quality was a little too high - so the video playback was a bit choppy.
myPlayer uses the low bit rate streams which are served via the BBC iPlayer mobile site. The 3G stream in particular is a very low bit rate. It is also QVGA friendly
The intention is to provide an iPlayer service for those using older Windows Mobile devices.

How will you do that from France? Thought it only works from UK IP addresses or do you have a trick up your sleeve?
Thanx Fry. Works great! (XDA Orbit 2 / Polaris)
This is excellent. I have been struggling for 2 days trying to get iPlayer working on my HTC Trinity with FinixNOver 3.4 ROM.
Playback with Coreplayer is very smooth and your application lightweight.
1. Tried the other iPlayer app and it just would not work properly at all on the Trinity.
2. Tried to get the Opera/HTC Streaming Media solution working but could never get any pucture displayed although sound worked okay (although the sound quality was poor). Also getting to the iPlayer click to play page on Opera 9.5 is quite slow and cumbersome.
3. Tried Skyfire which worked but it was slow and the picture playback was not continuous. Also it is not possible to display the picture in full screen landscape mode.
I only seem to be able to select Catch Up View at the moment, are the other options still being developed?
Once again this is an excellent application and a must have for all existing windows mobile users. I look forward to further updates.
Pros and Cons
Pros - tiny footprint, looks great
Cons - Won't work on Edge or Wifi. I don't have 3G. There is an erroe but it says I need the NCF 3.5 messages cab to read it on the next restart. I know the rom I use has NCF 3.5 installed by default.
I've included a picture of the error message.
Please assist.
Edit: Nevermind. I just read you must have an UK IP address and I'm in the good ole US of A. Please note the IP issue in the original post. I still give the program a thumbs up and would like to congratulate the developer on making a tiny and efficient program. If there is a service like the BBC link in the US I would love for this program to be compatible.

Hey XDA!
I've recently been working on an application, called dRemote, that will allow you to control windows media player anywhere in the world.
As soon as you hit play on your mobile, the pc will hit play on windows media player and starts playing music through the pc's speakers.
This is an Client-Server application which means that the dRemote server must be running on the pc you would like to control. Then the client will connect to the pc via the internet, this way you don't need to worry about having to walk to the pc to switch songs or pause.
You could play music upstairs while your downstairs in the living room.
For me it's useful because I sometimes practice downstairs and I prefer using speakers because you get a better bass out of them.
Imagine being able to chill back and relax, watch a video and pause without having to run all the way (lol) to the pc to pause it.
This will also work for videos.
You can also view/select your playlists and songs from your mobile phone!
Suggestions/ideas are welcome!

Sorry to everyone who's waiting for the next version!
I'm currently very busy with school and work like I said.
Updates will not happen anytime soon, during the summer holidays there will be a huge update where I will do the following:
*Way better User-Interface (Added in V0.4)
*More media players supported (VLC supported in V0.4)
*Programmable buttons
*Hopefully Bluetooth
*Hopefully Windows Media Center/etc. support.
*More different types of media.
*Attempting to get a stream working so you can stream your music onto your device. (I did some research and it's going to be very hard to implement this)
*Shuffle playlist
*And a lot of other stuff!!!
Thank you so much for donating!

Feel free to buy me a cookie if you appreciate my work!
Nice work. I can't test as I use Linux, but I have used similar apps on my DS in the past.

Very usefull! Great work.
very nice program... but I have been wondering.... under what situation you need that software except that
1. it extended the range of a remote (but if you're too far away from the computer, you probably can't hear the music)
2. you want to scare away someone when you're not at home (provided that you actually know the situation at home)
my idea is, to make the software more "meaningful", you may consider to add the ability that, streaming the the song to your device from the host computer.
therefore even you don't have the physical files on your phone (maybe space limitation?) you can still listen the songs as long as you have them on your playlist. does that make a little bit more sense?

It is indeed an option I will look into.
However many people reported this to be very useful when you're sitting outside and u got the speakers turned up, or you are in the living room and would like to put on another song without walking to the pc.
I find it very useful to train with, I don't have a mirror upstairs so I go downstairs, but I don't have speakers there and I hate to run up and down to change/replay a song.
This app is awesome and to have a remote app that works of the internet work a genius. Something i thought should have been created ages ago.
I just have one small issue when i go to retrieve playlists the server on the pc crashes. It gets the information from the 'client Says: Playlists' but then windows says 'dServer has encountered a problem and needs to close' etc .
If there is a debug file or need more info ill give it to you as i would love to have this app working for me
Also im running XP SP3 if that has any bearing.
Also probably a stupid question but do you have to have the server running to use the other programs such as itunesm, wmp etc?

Alright, let's run through the procedure shall we
You have extracted dRemote_Server_v0.3.1.zip to a folder on your pc.
Make sure you put the DLLs in the same folder.
Now start the server, specify the ports and click "Enable"
Now click on Add Playlist, locate a .wpl file (Windows Media Player Playlist).
Now you can load the client and try to refresh the playlists.
Yeh ive done that exactly and i still get the issue heres what i get
Also i am using a .wpl playlist

Thank you for the report
very cool concept. Ill try it as soon as i can
woop woop it works and it is awesome, part from the slight lag but i can understand that as it uses the internet to work
Also i found another bug when i select a song from the playlist to play i get an error as well on the server and it crashes and exits??
And a small request on the server can you make an option to minimize to tray as i would run it in the background constantly and therefore like to not have it taking up space on the old taskbar.

Can you be a bit more specific on the crash?
It works fine for me :S
I will make a tray option, I love programs that have minimize to tray enabled so why not make it for dRemote
