I'm loving my HTC dream. BUT i need a soft keypad so i can send a SMS using the touch screen.
I've downloaded and Installed Touch Input, but can't get it to work.
ANYBODY that can help me.. PLEASE

1. is your phone rooted? looks like it if you don't have a touch keyboard update.
2. have you updated to JF1.5?
3. look at this tutorial

just make sure it's all rooted and stuff, if it is, update to JF1.5, then if you want hero or some other ROM that is here to flash go ahead and look around at the android development forum or PM me and i can help you out if you need
did you go into locale and text and made sure that you checked that touch input would be active? Then go into like your messenging and long click on the text field and it should give you the option of "input method" then from there you can click on touch input. It should work.

I'm assuming you're on a Rogers HTC Dream (because you called it a Dream not a G1, and Rogers don't add IMEs to their ROMs).
Can you give a link to the apk that you installed?
Have you enabled Touch Input? (Settings > Text > Touch Input)

Has anyone else had a problem with the word completion and spell correction on the software and hardware qwerty keyboards? Even though I have both of these features checked they still don't work. When I'm in T9 mode it works ok just not in ABC.
Is anyone else having this problem? I would like it to work like word completion did on my Mogul.

Yeah, me too. I loved word completion on my Treo 700wx. I wish it would start working on the TP. Of course that is minor compared to the TP not wanting answer incoming phone calls. Now THAT just sucks.

That worked great. It took a soft reset before it started working though.

where did the cab go?
phone not answering calls.
There is a fix for that problem it comes from diamond config and advanced config function. You need to do a search it is a quick reg edit that will fix it. I believe I found it over at ppcgeeks. And it fixed my problem of not answering calls.
Classic Word Completion?
I would like to have the classic 6.0 XV6800 word completion. It was alot nicer. Anyone know where to find it at? Ive been looking and searching the forums for it.

i'm loharisan. i got a big Q for all of u that has used X10. Actually i've been using Windows Mobile 6.1 for almost 4 years till today. The most helpful and utilitarian function in WM 6.1 is contact searching mode at dialer.
i.e
if i'm gonna call 'JAMES' in my phone book directory, i just have to hit '5,2,6' at the T9 dialer pad then the contact no of james will appear without having had to search or browse for 'JAMES' in full contact list.. then by clicking at the contact appeared on the dialer screen i can directly call the person.. it is really helpful btw.
now after looking review at youtube and reading i notice that there is no explainantion about the capability of doing so in most recent reviews. actually i'm planning to get x10 this week.
so the question is, does android/ X10 is able to that? just as simple like WM6.1?

I feel your pain. AS far as I know it doesn't, unless of course, you can find a dialer in the market that implements that behavior.
If you want a 1 click dialer you can try "MeContacts". "Any cut" is also nice if you want a shortcut for a direct dial in your desktop.

I have spent the last three days searching my brains out and have not found an answer to my question.
I recently installed the backside rom in my OV and love it (many thanks) but the stock voice to text feature in messaging included with the virgin mobile rom is no longer there. The feature is gone and the little mic icon on the keyboard is gone. Is there a way to bring it over on the sd card when I install the new rom and then add it back in? Does someone know where to get the files to install back in?
I have tried several market apps but none of them function quite the same or as well as the factory app. I don't want to go back to the stock rom but this feature may be the deal breaker.

I appreciate the response and thanks for the welcome but that app is just not quite the same and I do not think it adds an icon to the keyboard when attempting to text.
I would like to now if the original equipment feature is able to be added when flashing the new rom.

Yes this is the solutin, voice search is responsable for all voice input; in-app and on keyboard..

Thank you for the reply but I am not looking for an alternative solution I am looking for information on re-installing the original app that comes installed in the phone.
The original function is very user friendly, requires no setup and minimal input to use. Voice search is just not the same. However, if someone knows if Voice can be setup "exactly" like the original app I am all ears.

I have an LG Incite (CT810) that uses WinMo 6.5. It's about the same size as the Aria.
Make a good offer on the phone - I currently use it as a stand-alone GPS device.

Yes, we working in htc hd mini thread to get way to install hspl, I done hspl, but trying to install it...if we hack hd mini we will install aria flash inside so than we will need to reverse proces so than will be option installing wince to aria... I must to say wince runing very well on aria (everything working), only bad thing and that not working is button keypads, so there is unusable buttons home, menu, back and search, so no option to back to prewious menu becouse buttons not working but I think someone will fix it if have wince port for aria...

Yes! Only completely not working buttons and that buttons light: home, menu, back and search... so wince is unusable without that buttons... maybe you know a way for possible fix?
can must scratch with existing drivers, but without any result is not predictable source...

Me and a friend are trying to port a system app from the same phone but two different roms. Here's the situation. The phone is zopo zp998 and it comes with regular Android 4.2.2. Zopo is making the exact same phone for the Chinese market with on OS based on Android 4.2.2 that's called YunOS and it doesn't have Google account support so it's not usable outside China.
The YunOS has a black screen gesture feature that you can activate in the settings under display and then while the screen is Black you can make symbols on it with your finger and open specific apps. For instance if you draw the letter C the dialer will open.
Here's where we'd like the help. My friend was able to find the system app for the gestures in YunOS and all its library files and put it in his rom. When the phone boots we can see that the gestures service is running fine but we don't have the option in the settings to activate the app. Is there a guide we can use on how to transfer a system setting and app like this? Is there another app we can use to trigger the on and off of the app? I am not so advanced to figure this out by myself. All help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Slekkas, just an idea which might help:
Do you see "settings->advanced settings->Superuser" in your menu? This entry does not work at all and is useless, but the switch is there. If you can locate the adress of this "Superuser" entry in ROM then you can alter it (without really knowing how it works ). Exchange "Superuser" with "Black-SCR" and you got what you search for: A switch you can use. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately not... I've asked at least at 5 different forums but no one is willing to help. I feel invisible.
I've copied the file :
Gesture in /sys/devices/virtual/input/input3/
Libgesture3Dvstar.so in/system/lib/
Yunos_gestureSetting.apk in /system/app/
and it did nothing...how did you seen that gestures are ok on boot?
On 998 gestures are for sliding in app. There is an apk for active in setting.I think we had to take this apk for active blackscreen gesture, but it is integrated in settings...
no means to port yunos setting on 998...

Actually i stay on yunos rom for try and try....
I'm not competent enough but Some developpers are working on it...（Fluffy...）
I worked along with fluffy on this but yunos is very complicated. It has to do something with the smali files
