hi guys i have recovery image installed and its rooted on my htc hero on orange uk
firmware version is 1.5
baseband 63.18.55.06eu_6.35.06.18
kernel 2.6.27-8dd6deee [email protected] )
my question is this what modaco rom do i need and radio and what guide do i follow to install
or is there a better rom
p.s i have RA-hero-v1.3.2 installed
thanks guys
Go to Modaco's forum and download the latest radio and 2.9 rom.
Go to 'the unlockr' for a nice video to follow about flashing the rom (easy)
Simples.
Basically, download rom to desktop,
plug in phone to use and mount,
drag rom renamed 'update' to phone.
Start phone in recovery image, (hold home button when turning on)
go to sd card update zip in the recovery image and bosh, rom is loaded.
Same for radio.
cheers mate but what is the latest radio i dont get all the coding on the name do i only want the EU version or do i just use the latest one that is 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22
PLEASE HELP i flash the rom that went fine then i flash then the radio that went fine it said restart phone but as i picked it up i touched the home button by mistake a box with a arrow pointing to a phone popped up i waited nothing happened so i disconnected the battery now it wont turn on or anything
Just try restarting the phone or re flashing .( via recovery image)
They do get stuck in a startup loop sometimes, nothing unusual.
On Modaco, the sticky section there is a thread for radios, it tells you latest one. Modaco is UK based so you'll be fine with all that Paul uploads there.
cant do this phone wont respond to anything not the charger not anything no lights no recovery image
here is a more full description of every thing i done

EDIT:it is a beta version of the ROM, it won't flash as such. pls use the following RUU.NBH file which contains the OS only part if u want to test it.
http://giesecke.tk:8090/privat/topaz_rom/index.php?dir=Cooked_ROMs/WM+6.5/Aman/&download=RUU.rar
Are u kidding me? Really stock rom with WM6.5? Have u already tried it???
Cant believe its true!!!!!
OMG
i cant belive it
Can someone post mirror please...Rapidshare maybe
what is the source of this rom?
Is this the official 6.5 release..? Could you comment on the source of this..?
Dont download it semi bricks the Topaz - Shadowline said in xda-devs irc
After trying to flash, it sticks at 99% and then dies after a few min. Which causes the phone to only start back into tri color bootloader with errors and no longer boot WM. Luckily flashing another rom is still possible.
Use caution when testing this rom. It may be just an isolated event or something more serious.
On another note, the next roms that I flash now say "Test rom only Not For sale" lol
im flashing now, lets se what hapends
Seemse genuine enough, but I wont know until im done flashing (5 min!)
Thx for your post shadowline, it was a few seconds before I wanted to start flashing
However, if someone wants to test it, here's the mirror:
http://rapidshare.com/files/249662958/RUU_Topaz_WM65_HTC_WWE_2.01.405.exe
yupp, hangs at 99% for me to.. Well.
Thanks for the update.. I was just about to do my first flash of my 1 week old Topaz! I will wait. Just wonder why the the thread starter is quiet and gave little information at the opening post!?
Plz be carefull with this!!!!!
Downloaded twice the file.
Flashed 4 times, with NO success!!!!
1. Flashed with the original exe, the progressbar stuck at 99%, terminate with "Connection Error"
2. Extracted the .exe in separate folder and flashed again, same, progressbar stuck at 99%
3. Replaced the original RUU with that one what comes with all the cooked ROMs, again stuck at 99%
4. Extracted the secon download, flashed without success!!! Stuck at 99%
At least, flashed again with NTGZ28 Standard ROM and all is OK, no damage done to the device.
Any hope that our ROM Cooks solve that problem, if that is really a HTC WM 6.5 ROM???????
Update: this rom stopped at 99% (useing windows RUU), and when soft-reset it only shows color bars but will still be flashable with TOPAIMG.nbh on SD card *pooh*
So im flashing back EnergyRom now. Thank good for (mostly) failsafe flashing!
Do you or anyone that flashed (i use that term lightly lol) have that text about a test rom when you boot your device?
yes i have, red text on bootscreen. What's that about?
i've faced same problem as all of you. but i successfully managed to flash the OS part only. the red 'test only' text seems to be from the splash screen.
damn, I was sooo going to flash that!

I installed android and it sucks, it reboots all the time, apps are useless, there are of course more things that made me want to switch but i dont want to go into details.
i almost turned my phone into brick when i installed android so i just want a step by step process on how to go back to windows mobile 6.5, and what version is recommended for best performance.
Ok I sugest going back to the stock ROM for your HD2 as you can flash it via SD card anx make everything stock with ome flash. But if you want to go with a custom ROM I suvedt any oc the Energy ROMs they are great. You can flash either of the ROMs via SD card or just put your HD2 into bootloader and wait for Serial to change to USB in the white bar of bootloader and then flash the ROM of your choice. If you flash via USB with official ROM it willnot revert your HSPL to SPL bit via SD card it will. Here is a link to tbe thread on how to flash via SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681317
ok, so i understand that i put the downloaded ROM to my HTC's SD card, hard reset the phone, and do the rest of the steps from the lik you sent.
What about radio? when do i flash it and do i need to flash it?
also, which of the hotfile files from the build available here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
is the "energy" theme? (the first one from the list in post 2)
when i click on the link it sends me to cookie's home tab thread.

Fist off make sure not to confuss putting your HD2 into bootloader and preforming a manual hard reset. To hard reset you have to power on and hold both volume down and up buttons down and the tricolored bootloader will appear for a brief secound but then another screen with instructions will appear. To put it into bootloader just power on holding down the volume down button and you will get tbe bootloader.
Flash the radio you want either before or after you flash the ROM. It really does not matter wich it will still preform it's function the same. I suggest radio version 2.15.50.14 as it is the latest radio version. You don't just have to flash another radio though if you don't want to. I say if you are not having problems with your current reception then your current radio should do fine. You can flash the radio tbe exact same way as the ROM using your SD card. Just rename the .nbh file for the radio to leoimg.nbh and copy it to your SD card. Or you can flash it via USB cable and your computer by using bootloader.
I checked out the link you posted. To download the zip file for the ROM you have to lick on the appropriate download link with the flag that applies to you. Let the page fully load when you go to the first page of the thread and look for the download button links toward the bottom of post #2. You will have two zip files to choose from I would say go with the largest of the two files as it will probably be the one with the start button at the bottom of the screen. I can not be certain of this though as I have a TMOUS HD2 and can not flash the ROM to check.
thanks for the reply, but i turned my phone to a brick yesterday before i read your post, turned out i didnt install HSLP (or something like that) which you need for installing new roms... immediately i went to a shop to get it fixed and luckily they had software that erased everything and installed original software
Glad you got your HD2 up and running again. I was wondering though if you checked to see if you could still get the bootloader to come up by holding down the volume down button down while powering on? Reason why I ask is you said.

I think when you flashed the custom ROM with out HSPL it ran a task 28(it is some debate wich is bett3er task 28 or task 29) before trying to flash the ROM which removed the current ROM from your HD2 leaving it ROM less. If your HD2 was truly bricked the place you brought it to would have had to disassemble your HD2 to get the main board out so they could use a JTAG on it. For that is the only way to revive a truly bricked HD2. So you see I am afraid you paid someone for something you could have done yourself. But the whole point was to get your HD2 up and running again so it is probably worth it to you. Peace
i've read what needed to be done in my sitation, and i ran into a big guide with some info about a program i needed to have fo 30 euro, it was then when i decided to go with the shop.
i had a RGB screen with some info on it, but i dont remember what it was, i'm just glad i got it fixed.
what free procedure have you had in mind?
Get HSPL back on it, Follow Energy ROM recomendations regarding radio version & get 23699 ROM Dinik from ROM repository.
With a few aditional registry tweaks this is one of the best performing ROMs put together.
My HD2 runs supurb on this ROM with over 40 aditional softwares loaded & used daily for work & leasure.
Simply blows a stock ROM away & makes Android only a SD card loaded plaything.

2 ways mate:
1. enter bootloader (press and hold volume down then briefly press power menu)
and flash a custom ROM
2. if you follow other peoples advice here of flashing a stock ROM via sdcard,
you will loose HSPL. or you can just flash a stock ROM via USB method and
keep HSPL on your device.
I personally recommend step 1.

What I was refering to in my other post is this. I feel like the shop probably just ran a task 29 (Google task 29 for HTC HD2) and then just flashed the stock ROM for your HD2 Wich can be downloaded for free from XDA, HTC.com, and probably your carriers website. These are all things you can do yourself. But like I said if the shop had to take your HD2 apart you did theright thing.
eh, i think they run the thing you said, so i am like 40$ lost on this... this solution should be easier to find, i searched google and xda for the problem i ran into, i typed different keywords, searched for an hour and found only some big guide with one of the steps requiring to buy a software for 20 euro. This forum should be better organized when it comes to HTC errors. Some screens and direct links to solutions.

Just an humble suggestion, users should read "stickies" before they do something to their device.
Almost all of guides, video, tutorial or references links are stickied at the beginning of the the forum/subforums

Hi guys and girls, I have just purchased a HD2 and would like to install android gingerbread (or whatever is easiest and best)... i have read through the how-to threads on here made by tytung - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 - (including the apparent 'beginners' guide for installing ROMs etc) a million times and being the worlds most useless person with a mobile i just dont have the courage to do it as i dont understand none of the terminology or how to install any of the links etc... could somebody please point me in the direction of a full step-by-step guide for dummies lol
i am currently running on:
flash size: 512mb
OS version: 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
ROM version: 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE
ROM date: 10/26/09
Radio version: 2.04.50.22_2
(i believe these are the ones most mentioned in the threads... but mean nothing to me )
i could literally do with the dummies guide with pictures the lot if possible lol.. BUT any help for a so called 'newb' would be very much appreciated.
thanks in advance
Tbh the easiest thing to do is flash hard spl then boot your desired build via SD. Unfortunately I'm on my phone so I can't link but if search the hd2 thread its all there. Also if you Google hd2 android Roms there all in one place and also tell u what type they are nand, SD ect. If I get to my PC later I'll link all the info.
Hope this helps.
Ok here u go all the info u need should be here. May have to paste the URL as im still on my phone.

thanks for that... i would like to install the gingerbread android from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 as this one looks like the newest/most stable version that has everything working..but because my phone has been factory reset and i think i need the correct radio i am not sure where to get that and how to install it onto the phone to even begin...
i am sorry, i know i am a complete hassle but ya know, the phone is expensive and im a newb, dont want to break it ....
(i held the down vol button and switched it on the other day to see what happens and then the phone didnt switch back on for like 5 mins after, it **** me right up lol, need to be totally sure im doing the right things from now on before i give myself a mental breakdown lol)
i do like the layout of that thread thought where its a step-by-step so id know if i were doing the right things
since the phone is stocked what i have downloaded so far is:
RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe ... can somebody please confirm that this is the correct thing that i need to install first by going to ROMupdateutility.exe!! .. and anything else i need to do for this...
then i have ''DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF.rar'' downloaded
aswell as ''MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.2.0.0_for_NexusHD2_135M.zip'' and the ''NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.2a_NAND_(Android-2.3.7).zip''
but which HSPL is best to install to do this? and where to download it from? ... on some threads here they say that HSPL4 is the best, but others say that its not fully safe to use? ...
are these the only things that i have to have to install this? and could somebody please put up a quick step-by-step to install it all pleeeeeeeeeeease, i would be eternally grateful lol
Found this mate
The first thing to do is this
After that then follow step 2 and 3 of Installation Guide for MAGLDR 1.13 in the thread you have posted this will give you CWM and the actual ROM.
The first step is the trickiest but you only have to do it the once and then you can get most ROMs flashed. The most important thing is not to interupt any of the processes or you will brick the device. Btw have a look here too
i followed the steps from the first link you sent and installed recovery, magldr etc... but now on the last step when installing the nand android roms i am stuck...the steps are not clear and there are no roms links to download... the phone is in magldr mode now and i dont know what to do from here.... please help

View the "Detailed guide" section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620 (it instructs you on how to flash roms via magldr; ignore the version of magldr mentioned in step 1).
whats happened is that i have put the gingerbread version from the link i posted into the sd root, but there are 3 files (boot, meta and system) but no files to run?????
i forgot to install the ''NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.2a_NAND_(Android-2.3.7).zip'' at the beginning to i installed it afterwards as another thread said i could do if i went into the USB mass stg ... but now, with the 3 files, i dont know what to run on my computer to install android :/

So follow the instructions given in that rom's post (See "Installation Guide for MAGLDR 1.13" in it's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060).
in the post it says ''Enter ClockworkMod Recovery when you're on MAGLDR 1.13 (hold "Power" button during boot) and select "AD Recovery" or "Boot AD SD" (if ever copied CWM's initrd.gz and zImage to SD).''
when i go to AD Recovery it says ''no boot sources''
when i go to Boot AS SD it says
''andoid load at 11800000
from microSD
load zimage
k: /zimage
SD KERNEL OPEN FAILED''

Have you unzipped the file because I believe you place the zip onto your SD still zipped up the flash it using CWM.
Somebody correct me i'm wrong please last thing I booted on my HD2 was via SD and was many months ago.
awww i am beginning to wish i hadnt started ... how do i do that now? i am at the main maglrd screen, when i go to USB mass storage and plug in my usb nothing comes up now either?
if nobody knows please just tell me how to cancel and put it back as it was with windows 6.5 ... thats better than nothing
OK go here and download the file. Unzip it to your desktop boot your handset normally copy the unzipped file to to the root of your SD card then open the folder with your phone and click CLRCAD nothing will happen dont worry then click haret. It should boot be patient as far as I can see it's the same ROM but just in SD format.
how do you run the handset normally now? i am at the magldr screen now and everytime i turn the phone it this screen comes up ...??

Installing magldr erases your OS, so basically it's the only thing on your device at this point.
RESOLVED !!
Massive thank you to Bebida for helping me to get this working .... the man is a legend !!!
the only issues i have found is that i cant add a new contact.. it goes to sync with email address (for some reason) but then after i fill in the details it still doesnt add ??? dont know whether im doing something wrong or whether theres an issue there !!!
and also every now and again, when i press the apps button it flickers but doesnt come on, but if i leave it a few minutes and then try again, or go into the settings screen it seems to work fine !!!
...
oh and also that the battery seems to be getting eaten rather quickly...whether thats because there alot more going on with the screen now with apps etc i dont know, but im having to order a back up battery i think because i dont have the time to charge up during the day

It may be worth going to settings>accounts&sync>google to see if you have auto sync contacts checked if so uncheck and try and add a contact again to see if it is related to that.
My best advise would be to look through the thread where you got the ROM as 9 outa 10 times the issues have been raised and a fix posted.
As for battery it's more than likely you have been hammering the usage and data downloading apps and stuff, I know I do when I flash a new ROM but again check the thread my man.
could anyone help me fix my phone? my phone is already rooted, i use rom manager and then i load the .zip file which makes reading sd card faster from root toolbox and i click on the file then everything freeze even then i turn off and i turn it back on, now it freeze forever, so could anybody help me? please im begging you
Dont worry my friend
If u cannot get back into system to delete the file you may try a hard reset to bring ur phone back into life
It will whype all ur data but ur phone probably should work again
you may try the whipe data/cash in recovery mode
if this doesnt work try the following:
http://www.htc.com/help/in/howto_iframe.aspx?id=167228&type=1&p_id=439
If this doenst work let me know and i will see if i can help u
but dont worry anyway ur phone´s not bricked or something
u still have the chance to reflash the firmware
i tried going into factory setting already but my phone still wont stop freeze, is it because i use a custom rom when i havent install clockwork mod? also when the htc logo come when turning on passes i get a black screenand i cant do anything at all except reboot
Custom ROM without clockworkmod? The first thing ROM manager would have done is to prompt you to install it. How did you install a custom ROM without a recovery? What happens when you go into recovery from bootloader? (Press and hold volume down while turning on the phone, then use volume keys to navigate to 'recovery' and press power to select)
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
i already did that, but nothing happens except some picture of a phone downloading something and than fail. i was just clicking on the .zip file then everything freeze then i had to reboot but thats when the htc logo pass then a black screen come then everything freeze
Since you said you're rooted, I presume you've already unlocked your bootloader via www.htcdev.com.
Have you tried out these?
[TOOL] HTC One V All-In-One Toolkit V1.1 [6-11-2012] [PERM ROOT] [Noob-Proof]
[Recovery]CWM v5 Touch Recovery for HTC One V[Build 6]
Both of these threads are from the One V Development forum. You can flash CWM Touch recovery via either of them. Once you have recovery then you can wipe all your partitions, install a new custom ROM and do anything. Don't panic about the state of your phone and rush through. Follow the instructions step by step. These kind of problems are common and fixable. Good luck.
In the worst case that none of the above work out for you, you can always return to stock unrooted HTC firmware by connecting your phone to computer and running an official HTC RUU (ROM Update Utility). They are .exe files so you'll need Windows. Here's the link.
Primo (HTC One V) Shipped ROM Collection
Find and download the right RUU for your phone depending on your region. For example, I'm in India, so my RUU would be the Asia one. For India and the whole of Asia. Similarly there are ones for Europe, China & an exclusive one for phones on Sprint networks worldwide. WWE = World Wide Edition. There are so many Europe ones because they're all different version numbers so if you're confused, the latest is RUU_PRIMO_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_2.08.401.2 so run that.
Tip -> You would have got much more help and much quicker too if you had posted this in the HTC One V General or Q&A forum (see link below). Also don't forget to hit thanks for the posters of those threads if they helped you.

today my phone got worst, it wont charge at all
I've had some fun with the TG01 after finding after a couple of years, manged to play a few roms 6.5>7 and back to 6.5 and then managed to brick it after messing with EFS2 in a bid to unlock.
Thanks to qinwengui I managed to get it working, but I'm stuck with one ROM that I would like to change from.
At the moment I have 'miRom 7 radio 0321' rom running from mirolg's thread " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367055" but I can not change it to any other other rom??
I've been trying to change to another one or two that I'd like to try from the rom section but they will not boot.
I can sucessfully use TG downloader or MicroSD card and although any other rom will flash, the phone will not boot.
After ever attempt, I need to go back to miRom 7 radio 0321, which works fine everytime.
Am I missing something obvious?
I've only tried the following "[ROM][miROM1_rel. 6][ENG][18.04.2011] HTC SENSE 2021 with 96 MB free RAM " &
"[ROM][miROM12][ENG 31.12] [GER 02.01] NEWest Build 29007 OS6.5.3 CLEAN 94 MB free RAM" but they will not boot up.
I suppose I'm grateful I have the phone working again in the main, but I'd love to try another ROM if possible.
As said, can use TG Downloader, 100% sucessful message appears, phone will not restart automatically. When I manually restart, green light, will not boot.
I can also use SDDL/prg, phone shows white screen, do not remove SD or power off, takes a while, then will not boot.
Any ideas would be truly appreciated.

Hi.
First I suggest to flash any official rom ( it was said in different threads it could help in some cases because it contains full kernel ). If it works You will be able to flash any custom roms. It it not help, maybe You have not original bootloader from WM6. but this one that was needed to install WP7 ?
Regards
fdjacentyfd
Thanks for the advice and good shout for the boot files. Any quick way to check? I have tried a malaysia official rom as I could not find much else -
TG0110_5005180028TSW.tsw but still same, not boot. Thanks though
I guess , roms You want to flash have not radio 321 ?
I think You will be able to flash any rom with radio 321 so maybe simply change a radio in any rom You want to have to radio 321. First start with official rom. Maybe after success of such operation You will be able to flash any rom with radio other than 321.
Regards
Wow, That's me lost now
I just followed every step from this post "[GUIDE] upgrade to wp7 / flash wp7 rom/ downgrade from wp7 to 6.5 WM OS"
My thinking was in case as you mentioned the boot files were wrong, all worked right up to boting on WM7 rom and I got a black screen with a picture of the phone connected to PC in white colour. Could not get past that. Now backtracking and also following the get back to WM6.5 tut and another rom, still no go. As I write, trying the 0321 rom that has been working. I can't get my head around this.....
Are you thinking that I can only use a rom with the radio 0321? Is this my problem?
Long pause as the 0321 rom via tg downloader is on 99%, may aswell wait to update -
WORKING! Absolutely stuck as to why this is the only rom that works, tried a few 6.5, a few WM7???
D
I am bit confused now . What is working ? Still Miro7 rom with radio 321 loaded via tg downloader ? If so , could You test any official rom ( use sdll+ ) changing it radio to 321 ? Radio 321 has always been "suspicious" for me. Taken from God knows where with for eample battery driver bug . That is why I do not use it even if some people
are say enthusistic oppinions about it.
