Move over T9, here comes Swype
Swype works with an on-screen QWERTY keyboard like you have on the tablet version of Windows and on the iPhone. But instead of tapping letters out, you press your finger or stylus on the first letter, then, without lifting it, move it to the remaining letters in the word. When the word is done, then you lift.
It works. Even on tiny small screens, it is intuitive and fast, and you don't even have to run the tutorial. Basically, it's an amazing new input method.
A built-in 65,000-word dictionary corrects obvious and even creative spelling errors. A word menu pops up if the correction is somewhat ambiguous; in our tests, the top choice was usually correct, and it can be selected with a simple swipe upward.
Little tricks make it possible to capitalize words (jerk the stylus up and down) or select double letters (wiggle the pen over a letter).
You can type 55 words per minute on his product. Discount the developer's advantage: Real human beings should be able to motor along at about half that, we estimate. *From Cnet

Main features are...
Simply Trace a Path
The word “quick” was generated from tracing the path shown above in a fraction of a second, by roughly aiming to pass through the letters of the word. A key advantage to Swype is that there is no need to be very accurate, enabling very rapid text entry.
Fast!
You can go fast and be sloppy. There’s no need to try to accurately hit each key. Just make a reasonable effort to trace through the word and Swype will do the rest.
Easy to Learn
The keyboard layout is QWERTY, so there is virtually no learning curve if you’ve already learned to type on a regular keyboard.
Natural Feeling
The smooth motion of sliding from letter to letter feels very natural, not to mention fast.
Finger-Tip Operation
Swype can be used equally well with either a stylus or your fingertip. You don’t have to be precise; so even if you have a large finger that partially obscures the keys, Swype still works!
Auto-Spacing
You can go even faster since Swype automatically enters spaces for you. (Spaces are prepended in front of each word entered by Swype).
Auto Spelling Correction
Not only can you go fast and be sloppy, in most typical cases, Swype will even correct misspelled words. For example, trace out “freind”, and Swype will automatically generate “friend”.
Capitalization Shortcut
Save time by capitalizing any letter in a word with a simple gesture: just slide from the letter to off the top of the keyboard and then continue entering the rest of the word.
65,000-word Learning Dictionary
Chances are the word you are typing is already in the Swype dictionary. But if it isn’t, just tap it out once followed by a space, and Swype will automatically learn it for next time.
Statistical Tracking
Keep track of your speed using Swype’s built-in statistical tracking.
Accented Characters
Words with accented characters (“diacritics”) require no special action - just Swype the word and the correct spelling will be entered. New words with accented characters can by typed by tapping and holding on the letter to see all possible variations.
Over 50 Symbols
Most common symbols are on the main keyboard layer and can be quickly entered by tapping on the key and sliding off the top of the keyboard. Many other symbols are readily available on Swype’s second keyboard layer.
Automatic Help
Swype detects when you may be having trouble or might be able to benefit from a particular feature, and prompts you with helpful tips and instructions.
Interactive Tutorial
Get up-to-speed quickly with the fun and fast Swype interactive tutorial.
Advanced Features
When the Swype software is first started, it runs a short piece of test code to estimate the overall speed of both processing and file access in its current environment. This estimate is used to establish a default value for a “Swype Operation” parameter that can be adjusted by means of a slider control displayed in the user options.
Input Slider
The slider is labeled at the far left with “Faster Response” and at the far right with “Sloppier Input.” This slider setting controls a broad range of internal parameters that determine the breadth of the initial database search to identify the most likely matching word for each entered input path. It also controls a large number of other thresholds, such as how close the path needs to come near a key in order for that key to be potentially considered as a “match” to the path at that point. The slider is initialized to the determined default value, which results in an average response time of less than 250 milliseconds. This means that, on average, Swype will generate the intended word for an input path within ¼ second of when the stylus or finger is lifted from the screen at the end of the path
Speed and Accuracy
Swype is faster than existing text entry methods because it has built-in intelligence that does not require users to hit each letter accurately. Also, tracing a smooth, continuous path is much faster than “target-tap-lift-target-tap...”. Even novice users can quickly achieve sustained data entry speeds of over 40 words per minute.

A message from Swype developers:
We see you have re-packaged our software and are distributing it. We are glad to hear that you guys like Swype, but we are obligated to state that we don't condone such activity nor support the result. Naturally those of you asking for new languages and features should wait until we launch a device in your market. Obviously, we won't support unlicensed versions of our software. One might ask why we don't just release the .cab file ourselves and save everyone the hassle. The reason is that we have spent seven years building Swype and we want to try to make a living selling our software. That means someone needs to pay for it. Thus far, our business model is OEM licensing. We do plan to get to direct-to-consumer distribution but it is a different sort of business and thus it is hard to say when. In the meantime, enjoy using Swype and please look out for a better, more integrated, and legal version coming soon to a phone near you.
Regards,
The Swype Team

Dictionaries/Importing
How to add custom dictionaries:
If You have created an eBook from few books or have a list of words in your language or you use vocabularies below:
Open ebook or text file in any text editor.
Highlight some text and copy it.
Paste into the SMS or Email editor (New SMS, New Email).
Highlight text again and tap Swype key to add the text in database.
*It doesn't work in anything except SMS editor (New SMS window).
*Some words in other languages contain letters that are not listed in Swype (Not even in letter's variant list). Words containing these characters won't be added to Swype database. Try to make them as simple as possible so you can add them to Swype.
*We still need to find a way to open and probably decompile .zdb.le and .zkb.le files, that contain dictionary and keyboard settings.

How to replace your userdata.udb?
Userdata.udb is the database that contains your custom words. You can replace you userdata.udb with a new one with custom words in other languages. As userdata.udb is locked as being in use, follow the steps below for the easiest replacing method.
Rename old userdata.udb to userdata.bak (you cannot delete it, but you can rename it)
Copy the new userdata.udb to $SWYPEHOME directory
Soft-reset your device

How to create vocabulary list?
Help us by sending us the vocabulary list/dictionary of your language. You can download most of them from this link and you have to convert them to .txt file to be able to use them because words in .dic file are attached to each other in single and copying it to SMS editor wont help as it's just a block of texts. There has to be a space between words or each word has to be written in a separate line to be recognized by Swype. To convert .dic to .txt files with separated words you can use procedure below.
Open the DIC file in Notepad ++.
Choose "Convert to Windows Format" from "Format" or "Encoding" menu.
Wait for the process to complete.
Check the last line, Last line should always contain a word, Neither a space nor a symbol. If it contains symbols or empty line clean it.
At last save the file as TXT.
Dictionaries:
Spanish Vocabulary (TXT Format - 91836 Words without letters)
French Vocabulary (TXT Format - 136625 Words and letters)
Portuguese Vocabulary (TXT Format - 385681 Words and letters)
Italian Vocabulary (TXT Format - 277312 Words and letters)
German Vocabulary (TXT Format - 532267 Words and letters)
Swedish Vocabulary (TXT Format - 118271 Words and letters)
German Database (UDB Format - apsis)
German Database (UDB Format - laureus)
Dutch Dictionary (TXT Format - Flip-Oh)
*Opening these files in a Pocket PC text editor takes minutes, You can break them into parts or open them in a single file.
*To open these files faster in PC you can use advanced text editors like Notepad ++.

set your keyboard to windows mobiles default keyboard by changing registry or using apps like SIPChange. Then restart windows. wait for os to completely load up. then try it and report back.
I just installed this keyboard today on my fuze and touch pro 2. This is by far the best vitual keyboard ever!! I can finally type with one hand in super fast speeds. and it's pretty accurate too! This is awesome!

Try these CABs. I have both keyboards but the problem doesn't show up.
Works fine on my Acer F1 (WVGA) on latest official rom and tested on 6.5.3 (cooked rom) before with success.
Thanks.
Nice to hear that
P.S. Download files are attached to the second post.
Thanks for this. The QVGA seems to be working well on my Hermes. I tried slideit about a year back, but didn't find it accurate enough. This seems much better and I'll trial it for a few days.

I think i found a solution for you. Disable and remove XT9 using tweak apps. Disable word suggestion in input settings. Using Sipconfig set Swype to default keyboard and set the timeout to 50. restart and hope it works.
When I select swipe, whether trough the setting menu or trough the sip shortcut it hangs. Does anyone knows how to fix?
Thanx.

You can download the OEM to enable Japanese input and display for your Titan here:

I use for 3.0.1 ROM, just extract OEM and SYS folder to your kitchen, allow it to overwrite
wince.nls and you are ready!
Retains ALL original fonts for interface like CE Star.
Includes new font, Meiryo - Japanese CLEARTYPE font.
Minimal RAM usage by reduce number .dll files installed by SIP.
Bugs -> this thread, and I will address.
Thanks to everyone who help me get started with PPC, and thanks most of all to dcd. Thanks to
Asukal who make original IME files for inspiration and wince.nls file.
Enjoy!
---------------
Update:
Here some screenshots by show you how to use. Also, I add DisableEN.cab from Asukal. It will let
you reduce your number of SIP to just the 4 that I have, which will lower the memory usage on your
phone since your phone won't have to load maybe 10 SIP.
This panel lets you choose between English or Japanese text input. If you want to use hardware
keyboard, just pop open SIP and choose which input you would like to use.
For English input select default (it's highlighted in 1st pic): 英数 EISUU, means ASCII Encoding
For Japanese input hiragana/kanji select top option: かな KANA
For Japanese input katakana select middle option: カナ KANA (You don't need to do this unless
you have a great many katakana words to input and you want to save time!)
The second text that's selected says: 半角 HANKAKU, means "half width" -- Japanese characters
use a combination of 2 english characters encoded together to get all the extended characters.
So, it makes a full width. If you turn HANKAKU off for English, your text will get HUGE, and only
those who have JP support can read it even though it is in English. So, make sure if you type
in English text, your Romaji SIP looks like Picture 1

Now, I only have 4 SIP. Keyboard (Default English), Kensaku (Japanese/English "block recognizer"),
Romaji (Japanese/English Keyboard for Roman letters and Japanese), and Phone Pad, which is HTC's
phone pad from long time ago. New phone pad xT9 won't work because of a conflict about SIP.
Fewer SIP is less memory consumption. You can lower your SIP number by cab file in this post,
DisableEN.cab.
_
Also, I have added EnableEN.cab to add SIP back in case you don't like not having other SIP
available. This way, it won't hurt to try! Make a soft reset if you install DisableEN.cab and do
not use uninstall for that cab. Install EnableEN.cab to get back your SIP, but make a soft
reset after installing that, too.

Are these fonts for hiragana, katakana, and kanji?
Thanks
Yes, this will allow you input by Japanese language text. It have Meiryo and MS Gothic font for PPC and Meiryo is default because it have cleartype ability. This is OEM, so please cook it in a ROM
Thanks
Very nice program. Love how you type the romaji sound, and it translates it into hiragana/katakana symbol.
One thing that I noticed is that if you start typing in the Romaji keyboard and translate a few characters, and then switch to the regular keyboard, the input will keep translating the characters into symbols when I wanted regular American characters. Also, some of the other symbols get messed, especially the back slashes being replaced by the Yen symbol in other parts of the program, namely Touch Flo and selecting programs for gestures.
Thanks
Backslash does not exist when you install Japanese, so that's one problem that I can't fix right now, I think. The backslash in program paths won't affect the program. It will still run, just looks different.
Don't use regular keyboard with this, just change it between full width kana to half width English input on the Romaji input SIP. (Assuming you want to use hardware keyboard.)
Also, if you need trailing N sound like in SUMIMASEN, press the N key twice at the end to make it change to Hiragana N sound like this: SUMIMASENN
Same for in the middle of words like, "KONNICHIHA" instead of "KONICHIWA" to get correct word input
Very nice. I see. Still not very good with kanji and didn't realize that the kanji below kana was for the english letters. Very slick program. Really enjoying it.
I keep wanting to spell out each letter and really need to spell everything out like it sounds in romaji for hiragana. Ex. Juu (instead of ji yu u).
With katakana, I am using the dash for long vowel sounds. Just want to make sure that is right. I was trying to spell out koohii and was getting ko o hi i (ended up using ko-hi-).
I was trying the kanji out, and figured the icon in the lower right corner under the return button translated a highlighted word. But I know very little kanji, so this will come in useful for practice.
So I guess that if I send a text message in hiragana/katakana, the other person will just recieve gibberish if they don't have this?
Thanks for your wonderful work!
If you send SMS message to someone with Japanese text, they will receive 'jibberish' if they are on your network - like verizon to verizon, but if you are sprint and send message to verizon or like, at&t, message won't even go through. But, if both parties have cook a rom with this in it, and both parties have same carrier like Verizon to Verizon, you can send Japanese messages like that, no problem.
If you type a word in romaji, you will notice it stays underlined until you press enter. So, use hardware keyboard to type out a word like... MUZUKASHII - I-Adjective, means difficult, then press SPACE BAR, and it will convert to kanji. Press space again after convert and you will get special menu options. Type KIGOU and press space twice and you will get 135 new symbols include greek letters.
In katakana, you use dash for vowels like coffee, KO-HI-, but you enter consonant twice like double click, DABURUKURIKKU. Complicated but here is another... NYU-TEKUNOROJI- means New Technology lol.
Excellent work illuminarok! I've added yours to my kitchen and giving the choice between english or japanese. Just testing it now.
Is this portable to any kitchen, or just to DCD's?
Thanks
right now just dcd, but I can make it portable
I am amazed how well the kensaku works. Hadn't even tried it till I reread your initial post.
Also, by default, I remove the transcriber from my ROMs, and it looks like your Disable/Enable cab include it. I just modified my registry using the values you had there. Thanks for that. Now I only have Kensaku, Keyboard, and Romaji SIPs.
One thing I did notice is that when you bring up the selection screen and click on options for Romaji, then click the options button, it brings you to a screen all in Japanese characters and everything changes to Japanese. Same thing if you hit options on Kensaku, but this brings up a screen with an option button. Can't read these screens. Too much kanji.
But again, this is me just messing around with the functionality of the program. So far no bugs or anything.
So how big are we talking about if I turn off Hankaku? I have some friends I would like to send really large messages too
Hmm, odd. No success with getting the additional SIPs active on my kitchen of a cleaned of the Sprint WM 6 ROM. I haven't tried a WM 6.1. I'll play around again when I get more free time.

Yes, it works well. Even Japanese don't know all kanji, so I use it to 'draw' in kanji I don't know to my dictionary. Then I can get meaning instantly! If you are interested, I can maybe upload my 7 million word Windows Mobile English <-> Japanese bidirectional dictionary.
No problem at all
I will post image in initial post that describes what this is for later, I'm not home now^^;
Good!
It's just that if you do this, you will display English text, but others will receive 'jibberish' since they may look like English characters but they aren't! They're actually Japanese encoded English, and that doesn't work well for SMS! Email is fine though, as long as their PC can understand the encoding!

Well, sometimes it doesn't like to overwrite that file, so I do it manually. All you should have to do is bake a ROM using the OEM "as-is" and the wince.nls. Let me know if you keep having problems and I'll upload a whole kitchen later if so.

No, in the kitchen I had removed both removed the original ..\SYS\WinCENLS_WWE directory and then copied your modified over as well as remove that directory and add the modifed wince.nls and its associated *.dms (key changed to match your OEM) to the OEM (my kitchen's goal is to give the option to retain stock settings so the old *.nls was provided into its own OEM). Neither were successful in getting the new SIPs active on the WM 6 kitchen. On both occasions I confirmed that all of the modified files (and not the old wince.nls) were used in the build.
I was a bit rushed and need my phone active for the rest of today. Later I may try from scratch again in case a fluke error was made.

I'd be interested in the dictionary too... I miss my old Zaurus dictionary...
A translation of the keys would probably help others with this as well. Although, if you're using Japanese input/display, you might not need to.
Kensaku, the ? brings up a note in Japanese as well. Finally found the space. Just had to actually read. Kensaku will recognize english alphabet as well, you just have to be more precise.
Is there a way to have the program just choose what it thinks is a match to your writing, as opposed to having to manually select the character?
Thanks
SCROBBLE
====================================
Scrobble is a free crossword puzzle board game for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs.
Thanks to everyone who has downloaded and enjoyed Scrobble!
Scrobble has reached over 20,000 downloads since the first version was released in January 2009. It seems like the current version 1.3 is pretty stable and satisfactory. I know some people have requested new features (such as saving your game, adding words to the dictionary, submitting high scores, networked multiplayer, etc.)... and while I would like to implement all of these, I have started developing for the Google Android platform instead of Windows Mobile (if you want to know why, ask and I'll gladly explain! ). I will still fix bugs for Scrobble if they arise, but probably won't be adding any new features for a while (months? year or two?). By the way, for anyone requesting a Save Game feature... whenever I want to "save" my game I just hit the Home button on my phone, which puts Scrobble in the background. Then when I want to pick up my game again I use the task manager to switch back to it (I'm not sure if every Windows Mobile phone has this ability). But this method has worked pretty well for me.
Scrobble runs best on VGA-resolution displays, but it also works on QVGA and WVGA devices. Drag the board around with your finger/stylus or use your device's d-pad to move the board around so you can see all of it.

- NOTE: Installing a new version of Scrobble will automatically overwrite your existing dictionary files. So if you have changed to a different language, you must change back to it manually after installing a new version.
- You can now tap Game->Options... to change your dictionary. Put all your dictionary files in the folder in which you installed Scrobble. Choose a dictionary from Game->Options... then restart Scrobble to use it.
- v1.3 uses the OSPD (I think v4) English dictionary by default, which contains around 80,000 words.
DOWNLOAD ..... (installable CAB file - download to device and run to install)
==================================================================
- scrobble.cab [v1.3] (222KB)
(Previous versions: v1.2.cab --- v1.1.cab --- v1.0.cab --- v0.53b.cab --- v0.5b.cab)
REQUIREMENTS
====================================
- .NET Compact Framework 3.5 (download from Microsoft here).
NOTES
====================================
- Scrobble is its own game with its own rules. Read the Help & About to view all the rules.
- Thanks to Sam Allen of dotnetperls.com for his C# DAWG implementation and anagram finder. Also thanks to bigchrizzieboy, hanackin, joshrys, and other xda-dev users for their contributions.
CHANGES
====================================
VERSION 1.3 --- 2009-02-11
- Fixed letter distribution issues (now includes the letter "Y"!)
- Modified CPU-Normal user a bit (a tad easier maybe).
- You can now use the Game->Options menu to choose what dictionary you would like to use. (Note that this still uses the English distribution of letters and scores).
- Minor fixes and changes.
- Support for automatic notification of updates via DeviceUpdate. I tried to support AppToDate as well but I'm waiting on some answers from their forum about a registry key that's needed to make it work.
VERSION 1.2 --- 2009-02-03
- Fixed bug where CPU always uses 'Z' for their blanks, and sometimes plays words that are invalid.
- Fixed bug where game would crash if you place one letter to your move, take it back, then try to submit it.
- You can now drag the board around freely on sub-VGA res devices.
- Changed the amount that the board moves when using the d-pad, so it moves shorter distances at a time.
- Changed both NORM and HARD CPU players (speeding up their turns and changing the way they look for moves).
VERSION 1.1 --- 2009-01-31
- Sped up the computer players (especially NORM).
- Made NORM a little more difficult and HARD a little easier.
- Fixed issue where only 1/4th of the board was visible on QVGA/WVGA displays.
- Minor GUI changes (should look better on sub-VGA displays).
VERSION 1.0 --- 2009-01-30
- Added ability to choose AI opponents (NORMAL and HARD difficulty).
- Increased text sizes for better readability on sub-VGA resolution screens.
- The board is now in a bounded area so it looks cleaner when moved around.
- Removed "Turn:" from the upper-right corner, as the current player is already displayed at the bottom.
- Players can only exchange their letters when there are at least 7 letters left in the bag.
- Other minor changes (cosmetic, bug fixes, etc.).
VERSION 0.53 - beta --- 2009-01-22
- Added the ability to move the Scrobble board around with the directional pad, so devices with sub-VGA resolutions can "see" all parts of the board. The center/Enter button snaps the board to its default (upper-left corner) position.
- The Scrobble shortcut is now placed in the Games folder instead of Programs/Applications. If you don't have a Games folder, one should be created for you.
MULTI-LANGUAGE SUPPORT
====================================
To change the dictionary that Scrobble uses from English to your language (if it's currently supported; if it's not please read the first reply to this post below), follow these instructions:
1. Download the dictionaries/languages file: dicts-de-en-fi-fr-it-nl-pl.zip.
2. Extract the desired language files to your device (including d1- and d2-... such as d1-dutch.scro and d2-dutch.scro if you wanted the Dutch dictionary), into the folder in which you installed Scrobble (EX: \Program Files\Scrobble\).
3. Run Scrobble and tap Game->Options. Choose the desired d1-LANG.scro from the dropdown box and tap OK. Tap OK to the "Saved" message.
4. Restart Scrobble. Note that Scrobble only uses the 26 letters from English (A to Z). So just use the English equivalent of any non-English letters (Ä = A, Ê = E, etc.) in a word.
Note: There are a couple English dictionaries -- OSPD is installed with v1.3 by default, and SOWPODS is the very large dictionary from v1.2.
OTHER LANGUAGES: There are some other dictionaries attached as zip files further along down in this thread... such as Spanish and Catalan (page 4 if you are logged in).

Updates / News
(Look here for future announcements, important messages, etc.).
If you would like to try to create or find a Scrobble dictionary for a language other than English, it must follow these requirements:
1. A single text file, not binary / database / etc. The entire dictionary should be easily editable in Notepad.
2. All UPPERCASE letters. (Use the free Notepad++ for this... Select All, then Edit -- to Upper case).
3. A single list of words, one word per line, no breaks, no spaces
4. You must convert all "special" letters to their A, B, C, ..., X, Y, Z equivalent.. so Ö becomes O, Ä becomes A, etc.
Here's how the English dictionary file starts:
AA
AARDVARK
AARDVARKS
AARDWOLF
...
NOTE: I have already found German, Finnish, French and Serbian dictionaries. So if you would like support for these languages, just let me know and I will try to include them in an upcoming version of Scrobble. (In the meantime, playing the English-only version can only improve your English spelling and vocabulary skills if you are a non-native English speaker!).

UPDATE - French Language Support
If you would like French support, follow these instructions:
1. download the attached dict-french.zip.
2. extract the d1.scro and d2.scro files to your device.
3. rename the existing files that are installed with Scrobble in:
\Program Files\Scrobble\
to d1-en.scro and d2-en.scro
4. replace them with d1.scro and d2.scro from the zip file.
5. restart Scrobble.
I have not tested this (as I don't know French) so please let me know your results.
Tested it on Kaiser (QVGA) and...
Since I loved this game in the early years, i had to try it.
The Game seems to work good and smooth (fast), but the pics are to big. I've made some screenshots how it looks on my Kaiser.
Kaiser is running WM 6.1, AthineOS NAKED Rom, installed the game on my storage card.
The board is 4 way to big (you can see the star in the middel in the down-right corner). Also somethings are hard to read (the screenshots says it all i guess, they are not scaled).
The game is easy to understand, if not there´s a huge Help & About under the Game menu.
You can Look up words... (are they in the Scrobble dictonary or not?)
Request:
I hope someone (you acrosse?) could make this great game work for Qvga devices.
Some other Feedback:
- The Shortcut is placed under programs, I think it´s better under programs\games
- I'm interested in dictonary (I could help with a dutch one), P.M. me how I need to help.
Support for non-VGA devices
bigchrizzieboy,
Thanks for trying out Scrobble on your device and posting the results and screenshots.
I will look into providing support for other resolutions (QVGA, WVGA, etc.).
The problem is that the board is very small and not too finger-friendly even on my 480x640 display. I have to use a stylus to tap the desired tile.
But I could look into using scrollbars.
Hi! thanks a lot for sharing !
What would you need exactly to translate into french ?
French translation
hanackin,
I actually have a French Scrabble dictionary. I'll try to include this language in the next major release of Scrobble.
Thanks for the interest!
ok!!! That's good news so
I will wait for the next release so
Thanks dude

how about using the Dpad to move around the board, or letting the board freely move around the screen (dragging) so that you can slide it over to the area you want to see. Or even use a zoom feature to see a certain area better.
this is very nice, i like scrabble very much. But i like to play against friends.
So my first feature request is:
- Multiplayer support through Bluetooth or wi fi.

Seifer,
I would love to do multiplayer support over Bluetooth or WiFi, but this would be quite complex and take a long time. So I may implement it in the future, but for now you will just have to pass one device back and forth. I designed Scrobble so that when one player's turn is over a large "Move Results" dialog covers up their letters, so the next player cannot see the other player's letters. They have to tap a large button in order to take their turn. (If people are close enough to play over Bluetooth or WiFi, they are most likely close enough to pass their device back and forth! ).
v0.53 has ability to move the board around using d-pad

bigchrizzieboy, check out v0.53 and see if this helps any. I couldn't really do anything about the hard-to-read text. This text is already very small on VGA devices, and it just gets more distorted when WM6 tries to fit it on a QVGA screen / aspect ratio. It looks like it's at least legible from your screenshots, although not very pretty.
But now you can use your device's d-pad to move the board around (thanks to joshrys for this idea), and the center/Enter button will snap it back to its default top-left corner position. I only tested this on my Fuze/Touch Pro so feel free to let me know your results!
Also the shortcut goes to Programs\Games now.
Testing
GREAT!
Will test it, post some feedback/screenies later today...
Erm ...! Can I replace the words database with a german one? Or how can I edit the words database for this little great game?
Have long time searched for such a game as for freeware!

I searched for this game, too, but only found the Handmark Scrabble "official game." But it didn't even display correctly on my VGA screen (half the letters were missing).
Anyway... unfortunately the game is somewhat hard-coded in English.
Replacing the dictionary would only work if it was with a language that had exactly 26 letters (same as English), and the same exact ones (A, B, C, ..., X, Y, Z).
But German (and most other non-English languages) have umlauts, accents, etc. So I will have to work on providing support for other languages (your vote for German is counted).
tested v0.53 on QVGA
Running (smooth) from memory card on Kaiser, WM 6.1, qvga
The board moves, that's it. It doesn;t display anything special. The quarter just floats arround.
Described from left to right (first screenshot "serie"):
- moved to left
- moved to left and then up
- moved a bit back and get a great score
- moved to right and down (then i see scrollbars).
the "center button" works good (places the board in no time in the upper left)
I'm not a developer, but the solution is in my oppinion something like the floating board inside a frame that can't move.
Zoomed in so you can see the Font that's unclear.
Keep up the great work

What is needed to make this work? I think:
- delete/customize the words with special letters like ö,é (coöperatie, privé).
- anything else?

Once you change all the "special" letters (anything that does not appear in English's alphabet, A-Z) to their "normal" equivalent (like all ö's become o and all é's become e), re-upload the file.
I will take it and write a little custom Windows app to convert it to ALL UPPERCASE (or something like Notepad++ or an advanced text editor could probably do this). Then I will create the 2 special dictionary files that Scrobble requires, d1.scro and d2.scro. These are located in \Program Files\Scrobble. You can rename the current d1.scro and d2.scro to d1-en.scro and d2-en.scro, and then put in the special Dutch ones.
Then you can play the game and just use e instead of é, etc.
EDIT: Yeah, in Notepad++ (a great, free, advanced Windows text/code editor) you can do Edit...Select All, and then Edit...to Upper case. You probably also want to make sure that once you remove all special letters that there are no two words in the list that are exactly the same. Does Dutch use a lot of special letters? Would it be pretty easy to play Scrobble in Dutch with only the use of normal A-Z English letters?
Thanks a lot acrosser !!!!!
I will test it right now
edit : so far everything seems good. Just to be more frenchy, I can translate all the srtings to make it fully french, just send me what needs to be translated and I will proceed.
Little remark, the game board on a VGA screen is a little bit small a bigger one would be better. And A WVGA version would also be great

I have uploaded the French dictionary in text format. Feel free to edit it and make it more "Frenchy" --- just remember to only use capital letters, A to Z.
I could make the board a little bigger, but I want it to all fit at once on a VGA screen. The problem with support for non-VGA devices is that I am developing in Visual Studio .NET 2008... and as far as I can tell it doesn't really support multiple-resolution device development very well. WM tries to scale it down and fit everything that it can, but any text that is very small already on a VGA resolution is going to be tiny, distorted and unreadable on smaller screens.
I would almost have to create a new project just for WVGA, and another QVGA... and then any bug fixes in the "main" one would have to be duplicated across all three! (This is my first project for Windows Mobile devices).
thanks for that
and how about to make it multilingual ?
cheers

Help and faq
HELP / FAQ / TROUBLESHOOTING
Read this whole text before using the FingerKeyboard or asking for help! If your question is already answered in FAQ it will be ignored. Don't be lazy!
What version should I install on my XYZ device? / What is WVGA, WQVGA, VGA and QVGA?
To successfully install Fingerkeyboard on your device, you need to pick the correct version for your phone. For example, let's say you want to find out what resolution Samsung Omnia has. Type "Samsung Omnia review" into Google, and among the first few results usually you'll get the most popular review sites listed. Reviews always contain resolution information, so we easily find out that Samsung Omnia has a 400x240 pixels resolution. That means you should install FingerKeyboard WQVGA cab.
Here's the list of supported resolutions for FingerKeyboard, with their standard abbreviations:
WVGA - 800x480
WQVGA - 400x240
VGA - 640x480
QVGA - 320x240
Why does FingerKeyboard look differently on my device then on the screenshots?
There can be some small differences between the screenshots and what you see on your screen. The reason for this is that different layouts can have different features, graphic elements or button layouts. We consider English layout to be the "standard" layout, with best combination of button size and positions.
How can I type those special characters that appear above normal characters?
Press and hold a key.
How to switch to full CAPS?
Press and hold the shift button.
Spacebar
If you press and hold spacebar button it will write a dot followed by a space.
How to use text selection?
Switch to full CAPS mode and then use arrow buttons to select text.
How to use cut / copy / paste / undo?
Switch to full CAPS mode, select the text you want to cut or copy, and press and hold ^c or ^x characters. Then press and hold ^v to paste. On some layouts these are named "cut", "copy" and "pst". Same thing with "undo" option - you can use "undo" at any moment, and it will take you back for unlimited number of steps.
Where is that Config tool you mention?
After you install FingerKeyboard, go to Start > Programs > Finger Keyboard.
How can I switch to numeric keyboard?
Press 123 button. If your layout does not have dedicated 123 button, press Shift and 123 will appear on your Language toggle button. Behavior of Language toggle button can be customized in Configuration tool.
How can I change a color scheme of the keyboard?
Config tool > Main > Color scheme: select which ever you like and press OK or Apply.
How can I select language layouts?
Config tool > Main: you will see a list of all language layouts you have in your FingerKeyboard folder. Put a tick next to the layouts you want to use and press OK or Apply. We also advise you to physically delete layouts you don't want to use from oyur device (Program files / FingerKeyb / Skins). This will make Config tool start up a little bit faster and use less memory.
What are all those Backspace options in Config tool?
Behavior of Backspace key can be customized to suit your needs. You can separately control what will Backspace do on short click and long press, as well as how it will behave in small caps or caps lock mode.
How to minimize or turn off the keyboard?
Short press the keyboard toggle button (the one with small keyboard or switch sign on it). Long press on this button will turn off FingerKeyboard and switch to default HTC keyboard.
How to disable click sound?
Run FingerKeyboard Config tool. Under "Options" tab you will find a "Press sound" box. Here you can select from several different click sounds, all of which have "quiet" and "loud" versions. This is useful if you want a subtle click sound, but don't want to lower the volume for the whole System. There is also a "no sound option".
How can I get vibration feedback?
Config tool > Options tab > Press vibrate. Here you can select how long you want the vibration feedback to last. Minimum of 20ms will get you a barely noticeable vibration effect, while 80ms will be very strong.
Vibration feedback don't work on my device. Why is this?
If you're having problems with vibration feedback, it's most likely that our autodetect LED vibration feature don't work well on your device. However, you can play around with "VibrateLed 1" string in skin-01-global.txt (Program Files\FingerKeyb\Skins) and see if perhaps changing to another LED number will work for you.
How can I control the key-press delay? / What is "Hold time" / Can I make the keys repeat on press+hold?
"Hold time" option in Config tool is a cool option you can use to control how long it will be needed for a key to be continuously pressed before it writes a letter or performs an action. This part of the "Hold time" function is controlled with numbers in the first box. The second box controls how long will it take for a key to be continuously pressed before it starts repeating itself. So, if you put 500ms in the first box, and 200ms in the second box, that means you will have to press a key for 500ms before it performs it's "long press" action, and 200ms more before it starts repeating that function. If you hold the key even longer, it will then gradually accelerate.
Can I hide / show Windows menu bars?
Yes, go to Config tool and under "Options" tab select how you want the keyboard to display in Portrait and Landscape mode. We suggest selecting "Show bar" for portrait, and "Hide bar" for landscape.
I want the pop-up images to stay longer on screen. How can I do this?
In Config tool, Options tab, there is a "Popup time" box. Here you can select how long will the pop-up image stay on screen after a key has been pressed. If you set pop-up time to 1500ms, this means the pop-up image will stay on screen for 1.5 seconds, or until next key is pressed. Pop-up image delay affects ONLY the normal character keys (A,B,C,D etc). Special action keys, such as Shift, Space, Backspace etc. have default short time and will not stay on your screen. This is done to avoid action keys images covering large areas of the screen with their larger pop-up images.
What are Smiles / Shortcuts?
This is a feature that no other keyboard has. It allows you to control what any of the several predefined actions keys will do when you press and hold them. Almost all layouts have these special actions included (between 7 and 11 actions on most of the layouts). You can control what will show up on a key when you open the keyboard, as well as what that key will write when you press+hold it. For example, you can type into "Key text" box "info" and into "Action text" you could type "John Smith, gsm:00123456789, e-mail: [email protected]". Or maybe your favorite web address. Or your signature. Or your wife's name. Or your lover's name for all we care The possibilities are endless! You can do the same thing for smiles - if you don't like the default ones, use your own, or something else!
A special key I need is missing / Can I customize smiles / Can I change shortcuts?
If there's a key missing in your language layout, you can easily add it yourself by using either Smiles or Shortcuts tab in Config tool. Simply type the missing key into two of the horizontal boxes and the key will appear when you long press a button that has that Smiles / Shortcut action.
Why does XYZ language layout have only a few smiles / shortcuts buttons?
Some language layouts have very high demands regarding the number of characters they need to occupy. Because of this there are a few language layouts that may have a smaller number of smiles / shortcuts spaces reserved. We have tried to include as many as possible, believe us!
How can I make FingerKeyboard a default keyboard? / How can I keep FingerKeyboard as default keyboard even after reset?
You can use a small program called SIP Change. Look it up on XDA-developers.com forum, and remember to set delay to 40-50 seconds.
"Where is XYZ language layout? Why is it not included!?"
If you want a certain language layout, first check FingerKeyboard2.1 thread on XDA-developers.com forum if someone maybe already made an additional layout and posted it there. If not, the best thing you can do is to make your own layout and share it with other people. If your layout is good, we'll probably include it in next version. Please do not spam us with "I WANT THIS LANGUAGE!!!" messages. All language layouts depend exclusively on the community to produce them. If no one can't be bothered to make your language layout, we can't really help you.
Editing instructions:
You can use the existing layouts to make it custom layouts! The easiest way is to open one of the layout skin txt files and replace the existing characters with your own. Experiment a bit, and you will soon get the hang of it. Same applies if you want to make your own skin - edit the included bitmaps, and change the appropriate lines in txt files. Everything you want to know about FingerKeyboard actions, layouts, colors and resolutions is explained in "doc-about-skin.txt" that is located in the root of the FingerKeyb folder. Read it first before asking for help!
XT9 and Word suggestion
XT9 & TEXT SUGGESTION:
This keyboard does not support T9. However, there is an option to enable standard Windows Mobile word suggestion, as well as SMS contact name suggestion. There are two ways to do this.
First way is to use the FingerKeyboard Config tool and select what you want to use (Word / SMS suggestion, or both). SMS suggestions will work normally, but for WinMo word suggestion to function, you will need to switch to HTC default keyboard and manually turn on XT9 on the little T9 switch. After that, you can reload FingerKeyboard and everything will work normally. This can be a good way for people who like to use T9 on other keyboards, but also want to use FingerKeyboard without T9. This approach also makes it possible to use new HTC style suggestion windows (the ones with small arrows on each side, where you can flip between names / words).
To avoid messing around with XT9 switch on HTC keyboard you can simply globally disable XT9 across the whole system. That means that T9 will not work even on system keyboards that have T9 support, but SMS / Word suggestions will both work. This will disable the HTC style suggestion windows, and use the default WinMo style (opens a simple white window with list of suggested words or names). The patch file which disables XT9 globally is attached in this post. This patch can be uninstalled. If you already have it installed, you do not have to remove it or reinstall it. Also, please note that when you install this patch, you will not be able to select SMS /Word options in FingerKeyb config tool - they will always be grayed out.
It might be best to install the FingerKeyb cab and test it first. You can always globally disable XT9 later on if you decide so.
There is a known bug with Word suggestion, that has been almost fully fixed in this version of FingerKeyboard. The bug manifests itself like this:
- if you have "Text word suggestion" turned on, and you type an SMS message, the "home" and "end" buttons will not work while the word suggestion window is open on the screen. If you select a word, those keys will work normally. Unfortunately, this isn't our fault - it's actually a bug in Word suggestion app.
Bug tracker
BUG TRACKER for v2.1
This space is reserved for bug tracking.
Even though the latest version of FingerKeyboard2 has been tested on multiple devices with different ROM-s for more then 20 days, it's very likely that we missed some bugs.
When reporting bugs, please try to be as detailed as possible. The more information you supply, the easier it will be to find the bug and squash it. And we like squashing bugs! Some bugs with previous versions of FingerKeyboard were caused by 3rd party software. The usual suspects are other 3rd party keyboards.
DEBUG LOGGER! PLEASE USE IT IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS!
Attached below, you will find Fingerkeyb_debug.dll file. This file will create a debug log which you can then send to us, so we can detect problems and try to fix them in the next release. It is mostly aimed at solving the problem that some people have with landscape mode, but it can be used to track any other problems as well. Debug logger is not that painless to use, but if you really want our help, this is the best way for us to detect what the problem is.
To start using this, you will need Resco Explorer or Total Commander CE.
Go into FingerKeyb folder (Program Files).
1. rename Fingerkeyb.dll to something else (example: Fingerkeyb_.dll)
2. Copy FingerKeybd_debug.dll to Program Files/FingerKeyb directory.
3. Rename FingerKeyb_debug.dll to FingerKeyb.dll
4. Softreset the phone
5. Open the FingerKeyboard, press 1-10 random keys on keyboard.
6. Minimize the keyboard, rotate the phone and open the keyboard again, after the phone is in landscape mode. Try to press 1-10 random keys again.
7. If you encounter the landscape bug, switch to HTC keyboard, making sure that it shows in landscape correctly.
8. Copy the FingerKeyb.log in working directory to a different folder on your device or PC and after that select FingerKeyboard again.
9. You will now have 2 log files. Rename them so they don't have the same file name and send them to Rozenthal or Exidler.
If you do not have Resco File Explorer or Total Commander CE, you can try this procedure:
0. Unregister keyboard using the old Fingerkeyb_register.exe (found in v1.4 thread) and then softreset
1. same as above
2. same as above
3. same as above
4. Register keyboard with the Fingerkeyb_register.exe
5. same as above
6. same as above
7. same as above
8. same as above
9. same as above
The logging tool will seem very slow, that's normal - it needs to write a bunch of info on every keypress, so take it easy. After you're done, you can simply reverse the procedure: remove the debug.dll, rename back the original Fingerkeyb.dll, and continue using the keyboard normally.
The log files can be sent to us via private messages here on XDA. Also, please do not expect to instantly receive a magical solution for your problem. If a simple solution exists, we will message you on how to apply it. If it's an issue that requires changing FingerKeyboard core files, it's more likely that the issue will be fixed in future versions of the software.

If you are a representative of the media, and wish to cover FingerKeyboard2 in your magazine, portal or blog, below you will find a ZIP-ed media kit.
Inside it is a short text about FingerKeyboard v2.1, several full size screenshots, high-quality FingerKeyboard logo as well as some other graphics that can be used in publications of any kind.
If you have any additional questions, you will find the needed contacts within the info-text.
We would also kindly ask you to inform us when you publish your cover on FingerKeyboard.
Very nice, is there a skins thread/section yet though? O_O
Hi, thanks.
I dunno if it's because everyone likes the default color schemes (there is a lot of them included), but very few people actually played with graphics for FKBD so far.
And those that did were mostly making small changes here and there, no big overhauls.

It is available for VGA Giannis edition, but not for the utak3r QVGA.
However, we will make a QVGA version that will be just the same as WVGA / VGA with all language layouts included. Hang on for a day or so, and it will be posted!
p.s. Thank you!

Check Program Files\FingerKeyb\Skins - everything is in simple TXT files.
If you want to cook this into your ROM, we would kindly request that you first contact us and tell us what are you working on.
We will grant all requests for ROM inclusion, we just want to know where and how is the keyboard being used.
Whoa, i didn't notice that you have a thread in dev&hacking - i was about to suggest creating it instead of staying hidden in the blackstone section
Maybe it would be a good idea to lock the old one to keep the discussion in one place?
I am having trouble with the Giannis86 VGA cab. It wont install on my touch pro. I get an unsuccessful installation message.

StatKbd project - self-adjusting SIP keyboard for WM.
It analyses touch coordinates and adjusts recognition algorithm. This is especially important for finger typing - usually you don't hit exact center of button while typing due to device tilt, etc...
In addition to this, StatKbd introduces key "spot" size adjustment basing on language statistics - again, for better touch recognition.
From user perspective this means that every key virtually expands and shrinks (normally it's not visible, but you can enable special mode to see it) basing on previously entered text. This allows you to enter text better, avoiding typos.
Of course, all these options are adjustable, so you can disable them if you want.
There're 2 skins (black and white) in package. Visual skin editor is also free and available for download.
Currently English and Russian layouts are available, but you can easily customize skin for any language (we'll really appreciate if you upload it here or to official site then).
You can read more (and download installation packages) at official site:
gss.freeiz.com (sorry, can't post direct link now - I'm new to this forum)
Current version (1.2) is free, but donations are very welcome - you can use "Donate" button on official site.
nice try buddy but i think that this not good enough for any WM. although its not finger friendly and its do not even uses numeric keys can't find even enter. LoL..
Well, look closer to long-click (upper) symbols. Keypad is on long-click for most right button in middle row (short click switches language layouts), enter is long-click on space. I did it because I was really sick and tired of false clicks on enter button (that you can't undo).
As for finger-friendly, well, miracles don't happen in this world (especially with keyboards on small screens ). However, I really think that you didn't calibrate it. To adjust keyboard to your fingers, you should manually calibrate it (via options) or just spend some time typing text and correcting typos by backspace (yes, that's annoying, but takes just several minutes) - keyboard will self-adjust.
I have installed it in my X1. Its quite good but its a bit too small to use in portrait mode. Other than that its not bad but takes a bit getting used to.
The idea was to make small keyboard, to keep most of the application screen visible. White skin is smallest one, black one is bigger. You can create you custom skin (with appropriate size) using Stat Skin editor - just take one of original skins, resize jpg files to the size you want (using any picture editor), then remap keys using StatSkinEditor (there's option to do it automatically - Edit / Resize Keys Map). Possibly, you'll have to change font sizes too.
Thank you very much .. It acts better than Finger friendly !!! .. I wish The skin editor really works too cuz I tried it on Win 7 , Win 8 .. Wish for Arabic Skin ...
Thanks again for a good app.
maybe a little bigger skin? its hard to use.

What is the problem with Skin Editor ? It works OK on my PC. You have to install Visual C++ 2008 SP1 redistributable package though, if it is not installed on your PC yet (by some other application). You can download it for free from Microsoft site: ... /download/en/details.aspx?id=5582
Treat ... as microsoft web server address - this stupid system does not allow me to post full link.

Hello, I'm glad to announce my next free application for WP7, the SilverDict.
SilverDict is a offline dictionary application, compatible with famous StarDict program by dictionaries format. Application is very fast, simple and reliable. You don't need to switch languages, SilverDict is using all installed and enabled dictionaries to search the words.
On the first run, application will offer you to download and install dictionaries from online repository (based on free XDXF dictionary collection http://sourceforge.net/projects/xdxf/files/ ) or your own dictionaries from cloud stores (SkyDrive or DropBox).
Dictionary file archive for download and install should be:
in StarDict format (i.e. have *.idx, *.ifo, *.dict.dz or *.dict, optional *.syn files; also optional resource (images) directory;
dictionary archive should be zipped (has *.zip extension) or in Unix-style compressed tarball format .tar.bz2 in one file. For *.zip archive you may try to archive more then one dictionary;
Of course, for downloading dictionaries you should have your Internet connection enabled (for download only, SilverDict does not required Internet connection)
Please, be patient: dictionary installation requires some time (depending from dictionary size).
I don't recommend you to install too many dictionaries; BTW, SilverDict can display up to 8 dictionaries simultaneously.
I'll be glad to hear your impressions, suggestions and feature requests here! Happy searching!

SilveDict+ (no ads): store link
version 1.8: fixed bugs; added SD card support (WP8 only);
Please note: zip archive extension (.zip) is reserved for system; you should change '.zip' extension to the '.zip.dic' first.
version 1.7: fixed various bugs; improved stability; added ""Rate My App"" control.
version 1.6: added Live tiles support; now you may pin article to the start screen; Windows Phone 8 support; added ""silverdict"" protocol for WP8; third-party developers now can use 'SilverDict' as an add-on dictionary; fixed various bugs.
version 1.5: custom color themes, independent from the system theme; "Favorites" tab (please enable in the "settings"); ability to swap languages in "Dictionary manager" by flick gesture; fixed various bugs, improved overall application stability;
version 1.4: added input box with history; fixed various bugs;
version 1.3: improved umlaut diacritic support; improved dictionaries order handling; fixed various bugs;
version 1.2: fixed online repository access
version 1.1: fixed bugs with DropBox login, and saving input text
version 1.0: initial release
By far, Silverdict is the best looking dict app I've tried, WP7 or Android. The design is clean, polished and intuitive.
The "tab" design is a very useful idea (2nd picture OP). I usually use 3 portuguese dicts on Fora Dictionary (Android app). When I begin to write a word on it, various suggestions appear (of all 3 dicts). In Silverdict it's a little bit different, it's more individualized: you write a word on textbox and the results aren't displayed all together, but in each dict's tab. It seemed to me as a flaw at first, but now I really like your design option sensboston.
EDIT: after playing a little bit more with SilverDict, I find to feel that it would be more intituitive if when I tap a word all dicts display it's meaning. As it is now, each time I select a tab I have to tap on the word to display it's meaning, even if I have tapped it before.
Fora Dictionary has a start scanner function. When activated, if you copy a word on browser or an e-book reader app, it automaticly opens dict app and displays the word's meaning. It's a superb feature, but due to WP7 limitations it will probably be hard to achieve. Besides, WP7 e-book readers I've tried don't have the option to copy a word (can't understand why).
EDIT: with Freda e-book reader, with a 2-step procedure, it's possible to copy a word. Start scanner would be a nice implementation in Silverdict, if possible of course.
Skyfire works great, but I'm having an issue with dropbox. I added my account and it opened dropbox page on browser. Due to "not having jave script" my folders weren't displayed.
Thanks for your review and comments!
As for design: I never tried Fora Dictionary but a long time customer of the ABBYY Lingvo dictionary (IMHO, the best dictionary profuct for Windows). SilverDict is copying Lingvo's UI: you have a list of found words (with variants) and you have to click word to display explanation. I thought, dictionary separation by tabs will be more intuitive to end-user; but I can try to implement tab-less, merged list.
As for DropBox: it's a strange. I've switched app to production state (it takes some time) at DropBox devs site, but it still works fine for me: on my Focus or on emulator. Tomorrow I'll try (at work) on the other different handsets. Will be good if someone else can test that functionality too.

Silverdict works great the way it is so don't get into to much work. It was just a remark I made and it's nice to have an app with a different approach. To be honest, each time I use it, the more I like how it works.
Just a small remark: on settings, there's an option to enable/disable save last input, but it doesn't seem to work. I have it disabled, but each time I start Silverdict the last word I typed remains on search box.
And about "detect copied word" function, is it possible to implement?
Yeah, I already figured out this bug. I'll fix it in the next release.
As for your request: unfortunately it's not possible because of Microsoft limitations http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms589129(v=VS.96).aspx
I don't understand why, truly... Seems like they are too scared because of xda whitehats hacks and don't have enough facilities for proper testing

Unfortunately, I expected that... bah!
Looks very promising. I'll definitely give it a try once it hits the marketplace.
Just forgot to ask: if you have free dictionaries (under free license or without licences) that isn't in the repository, and you want to share 'em with others, please let me know.
[UPDATE] new version (1.1) of SilverDict uploaded, two significant bugs, with DropBox and cleaning input box are fixed . Big thanks to myself11 for testing!
Has Silverdict been already approved on Marketplace? Can't find it yet.
There sould be an Android version Now when I go back to ICS, dict apps seem ugly and less pratical.
Today MS approved ver 1.2 (with latest bugfixes), should be available in 12+ hours.
It's online!

Yes, sure! For SkyDrive access I'm using standard Microsoft component from Live SDK (you can find my working example source here, on xda). For the DropBox I've used DropNet, https://github.com/dkarzon/DropNet.
P.S. I mean this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529197

It's for the user to be able to add his own stardict dictionaries to Silverdict. If you have none or simply are happy with those available online, there's no need to sync with Skydrive or Dropbox. In my case, it's very useful since I have gathered stardict dictionaries that are not available online.
He-he, I recognized this question as a developer's question Yep, myself11 is absolutely right: using cloud storage you can easily install your own dictionaries.
Technically there are lot of various dictionaries, available on internet; most of 'em can be converted to StarDict format (I don't have enough time to collect 'em all!) Another issue is a right owners... So, SilverDict just provide flexibility.
i would prefer a table containing the string and the translation. just like LEO-dictionary. but the offline support & diversity of dictonarys are quite good!
roqstr, SilverDict is a dictionary, not a translator. Offline sentences translation is a very complex task and can't be easy done on the handset (it's requires a huge database - for example, how Google's translations works). By the way, what LEO-dictionary you are talking about? Just checked Android app called "LEO dictionary" - it's works the same way as a SilverDict but online only and without SilverDict's advantages.
That app is just great. Thanks.
I have recognized searching for special charaters as the first one in the word does not deliver a result, e.g. Öl, árbol ...
Am I missing something?
Thanks ...
