i tested with jlp_svk to download ROM, but only in raw format. So we dump it, but i am afraid, we don't be able to restore it.
And so i read, without hardspl we cannot generate NBH and flash it back

Sorry my english is very poor and I don't understand what you want to say me.
My issue is I have a HTC mega with operator (Orange) ROM and i want to save original ROM before install the official HTC ROM.
But I to be able to the restore the operator ROM in case I should return it to the operator.

1. connect Mega via USB (activesync)
2. run Partition.Addresses.bat and look at Partition.Addresses.txt
3. change in Dump My Phone.bat what partition do you want to dump (delete "rem" on the start of row)
4. start Dump My Phone.bat and wait

Hi, guys. I just used the raw2nbh to merge my raws (part01, part02) which was backed up from a chinaunicom customized diamond. And when I flashed the Ruu_signed.nbh into my diamond (customized by cmcc), It stoped at the first step. Anyone know why ? Just becuase the payload is small so as not to contain the imgfs and the xip ?

This is for backup your original, stock rom. ONLY ROM!
Not for backup datas....
After reflash the reconstructed rom, you will get a clean device, like after hard-reset.

and its Pocket PC version is 4.20.0(build 13252)
I have these questions: is it running wm2k3 or wm2k3se and how can I tell? is there any newer CHS rom available?(dopod's technical support is very poor.) can I use XDATools to backup its rom? and who actually built these roms? Microsoft or the device manufacturer?

AFAIK.
You have a newest XDAII (Chinese version isn.t ??) with OS Windows Mobile 2003 Service Pack 1.
WM2003SE is Pocket PC version 4.21.
ROM built by Device Manufacturer (Vendor like O2, I-Mate, Qtekk or T-Mobile), sorry i do not know you vendor (Dopod ???), may be they are sub vendor from O2.
Microsoft is support OS only.

That's wrong. Until now there is no WM2003 SE available for the XDA II.....

Use the attached tool 'ntrw.exe' to extract the ROM image in SD card:
1. Insert the SD card containing the ROM into a card reader
2. If the card reader drive is 'X:\' under your Windows, then run:
ntrw.exe read xda2_166_cht_image.nb1 x:
(where the 'xda2_166_cht_image.nb1' will be filename of the captured ROM, it can be whatever you like)
Then, you can find an extracted ROM file under the working directory.

Thanks for your uploaded files VERY MUCH! I have upgraded my XDA II to 1.66 CHT successfully!
The zip file you uploaded is actually the ROM file (I used Hex Editor to open it). You can just rename it to any new name with extension 'nbf'. Then, you can flash it to any XDA II device. (Actually you can directly use that to flash)

You can register the website as free, then you can see those upgrade steps. Actually, flashing with Ext ROM is much easier, and is also included in the thread.

It is not possible to convert a dumped ROM to an "exe" upgrade, however you can extract the contents of imgfs:

nope, you cannot upgrade a rom from a dumped imgfs. In theory, it should be possible to modify the imgfs and create a .nb file which you can replace into a rom, but TyTN uses a new .nbh format which we still don't know how to deal with. So, at the moment this is useless for rom upgrading, but useful for other debugging purposes or if you want to have a copy of all the filesystem...
if anyone is interested on this nbh format I can post some info i've been taking out of hexdump'ing shipped rom upgrades and sniffing usb port during rom upgrade process, but it's still a lot to do and I am not an expert, so any help would be appreciated.

ok, Mousey here on the forums had dumped the Orange UK ROM from his Hermes; he then used buildimgfs to create a proper imgfs image; after this, we then wrote this imgfs to the AKU3.3 ROM (using it as a shell essentially) and the result was a successful flash and his PDA was running Orange UK OS ROM, so it would seem that it IS possible to create images of dumped ROMs, but I would advise that you make sure the NB you create is bigger than needed so as not to fill it completely.
All Working Beautifully.
1. I Took The Part02.raw Of A Dumped ROM And Dumped All The Files Using "viewimgfs" from the imgfsTools
2. I Created imgfs_raw_data.bin File From A Random AKU 3.3 OS.nb File Using "aWaiter".
3. Then I Created imgfs_raw_data.bin From The Dumped Files Using "buildimgfs" from the imgfsTools, This Overwrites The imgfs_raw_data.bin File Created In The Previous Step.
4. I Then Merged My imgfs_raw_data.bin With The OS.nb From Step 2 File Using "aWaiter".
5. Then I Created The nbh File Using The Orange Splash Screens And The Romanian EXTROM Using dutty's Rom Koch
6. Finally I Added It To The CustomRUUUpdater Created By Olipro.
And Then Flashed It. Now I've Unlocked The ExtRom Im Going To Add In The UK Files And HardReset.

currently a shipped Orange UK ROM doesn't exist, and we don't have the capabilities to produce signed files... but since it seems your bootloader is intact, I would suggest you try the KITL trick described on the wiki

So you dumped a ROM from a phone and merged it with a shipped ROM that was AKU 3.3? Was the "phone ROM" AKU 3.3 also, and, did your default internet connections remain after flashing?

if you dumped the OS from your Hermes onto your hard-drive, then yes.
also, as I said before... remember to use as large an OS.nb as possible.
Currently I'm looking into modifying the size of the OS.nb itself; hopefully this can be done without generating any bad blocks (even if the attempt fails), but I'll get back to you on that.

I downloaded the raphael kitchen.
then i downloaded a base rom from this thread

I fired up the kitchen, placed my part01.raw and part02.raw together with the RUU_signed.nbh from the baserom in the baserom folder in the raphael kitchen.
Then i chose option 2 in kitchen to rebuild rom.
after a lot of kitchen work, i now end up with these files.
00_unknown.nb
01_spl.nb
02_mainsplash.bmp
02_MainSplash.nb
OS.NB
and of course the part01.raw part02.raw and the ruu_signed.nbh
So the next step is now the !Cook.cmd
now i have a cmd prompt open saying building os.... please wait.
Do i have a functional copy of my danish rom when this is completed ?
did i make any gross stupid errors ?
and what about part00.raw and part03.raw ?
what are they used for ?

recently bought a topaz and the factory rom which I have is 1.43.720.1.
I got this in India, does anybody know where I can find this same ROM, somewhere on HTC websites? or if anybody has it already can please share?
Also, checked HTC Asia wbesite, and the latest version of ROM I can find is 1.40 only

Guys, Can anyone, help me on dumping a ROM from my device?
Also, is it possible to flash that same ROM back to the device, if yes how?

Seems like that is too much of time to spend on dumping the ROM then create your own based on the dump.
I guess, I'll better wait untill the offical ship ROM is available on internet!

All depends on how urgently is your need to scratch the itch to upgrade the ROM of the phone. My new TD2 lasted 4 days before it was flashed... The dump is needed if you need to restore the phone for warranty purposes etc.

I'm trying to back up my stock ROM 1.43.720.1 (51718) WWE using xdatools and KovskyKitchen. The KovskyKitchen requires a stock ROM .nbh file to be in the Baserom folder. The one I could find here in this Topaz ROM dev forum is older ver i.e. RUU_Topaz_HTC_WWE_1.39.405.2_Radio_Signed_Topaz_61.20t.25.10_3.43.25.19_Ship.
My question is, suppose I use this in KovskyKitchen along with my stock ROM raw files, does it package with my stock rom or the older one?

if you need just a backup of the OS (the Radio is already available), why don't use DumpROM to copy it and then use RebuildROM to create a flashable .nbh file?
my td2 came with -1.43.720.2 (51718) wwe- in india
rom date - 6/15/09
just dumped and rebuilt the rom -- using dump my phone and rebuild rom
it does work on testing
i have uploaded the rom to megaupload

its os only with no radio etc
couldnt dump my radio 3.44.25.27A protocol 61.25at.25.19U
does anyone have a flashable version of this radio?

As far as I know, only 3.44.25.27 (without the A) is available. I don't know if there is a big difference.

Not as easy as dumping a ROM.
Search the WIKI, and the whole XDA-Developers and you will find some tips. But nothing special for Topaz

This is indeed the latest version of Topaz ROM till date from HTC!
But no official release from HTC support yet, the ROM is already 3 months old. Even I have not flashed my topaz yet, just waiting for an official release of this version!
