I have a question for all of you who are using shields for our device, from your experience which one is the best?
I mean the most scratch resistant but whitout affecting the sensibility of the touch screen.
I have these 3 models in mind:

I am sorry but I personally have no experience with Bodyguardz what-so-ever. I have used an invisible shield on an iPhone, but it was a very short time. However, I have a GadgetShieldz installed on my Tilt 2 and had one on two of my Fuze's. I think for the price the GadgetShieldz has been a great investment, but do be warned with any of these the screen (I imagine the other two are like this) will have a "drag". With the stock screen protect your finger fluidly slides around. With the GadgetShieldz I do tend to apply more pressure because my skin drags with the surface of the shield, but my screen is still very responsive and works just as it did without. I use the Swype keyboard for my input method and once I adjust to the shield it was like normal. Using the stylus is a bit harder because you cannot simply drag it, but if you learn the right amount of pressure needed this is not an issue.
The back is still kind of slick but better than stock, and I feel less worried now setting my phone down not so scared that it will scratch up that shiny back, ya know!

But the main problem is that is only made for carriers branded phones and not for the unbranded european T7373 which I have
Zagg had 50% off EVERYTHING about a week ago, but I decided I don't need the shield since it's just FRONT & BACK.

I have not tried Bodyguardz either but I've tried Invisiblesheild on many of my phones and currently have the Gadgetshieldz on my Tilt 2. At the moment I have the Invisiblesheild on my Fuze. I was just holding both phones and trying to feel the difference between the two. To be quite honest the only difference I've noticed is the the Invisiblesheild is a little more "grippy" than the Gadgetshieldz. Other than that there is not much of a difference.
The Gadgetsheildz was less than $6 (with shipping) while the Invisiblesheild was almost $30. I would go with a couple of Gadgetshieldz.

No, as a whole the Invisiblesheild is more grippy. Front, back, sides, all.

This is pathetic. It costs almost 5 times as much and it doesn't cover some of the most easily damaged areas? Eff that!
Seriously, do yourself a favor and go with the gadgetsheldz, I'm going to complain to Invisiblesheilds.

I have found the option that is working best for me
I am using phantom skinz for full body and reuseable screen protector for the screen.
I was planning to put phantom skinz on the screen as well, but once i applied it on the back cover i didn't want to have the draggy feeling on the screen so i went with stock screen protector. I also got reusable PET screen protectors like the Boxwave ones for smooth screen feel.
The other think that i was worried about phantom skinz(and invisible shields, bodyguradz etc) is removing it from the delicate resistive tp2 screen.
So for me phantom skin for body + PET screen protector for screen works out to be perfect.

Thanks deeken for the pictures, it looks really nice with the GadgetShieldz, I'm definetly going to buy 2 of these in case I don't get it wright from the first attempt, but that would still be chaper than anything else, also using the 20% coupon.
The only problem is they release a shield for the standard model which I have

Been using zag product from every new device i buy. 3 Reason why
1)life time warranty
2)The case can take a beating and never show that it been threw a lot. had my zagg shield on since i bought my device back in October and people alway say to me
"you should get a case for this phone before it get scratches up did you just get it?"(They cant notice the protective plastic).
3)It's worth the money, buying cheap plastic protective for your phone over and over again going to add up to the price of 1 zagg case.
I see alot of people saying that the zagg do not cover your entire phone. All i have to say is what are you talking about??

It dont make the touch screen harder to use, i have no problem with the stylish nor my fingers. i can use my screen with the slightest touch of a peace of paper,pen, cotten, food you name it i tired it. life time warranty why not take the risk of testing anything out lol

It does provide protection for the front side. My whole T-mobile touch pro 2 cover with the shield. I guess u can't see the cut out that they made when u receive it or you probably just purchase the back protection not the the full protection.

There is NO SIDE PROTECTION for the AT&T Tilt 2. I have this thing in my hand and I can tell you for a fact that they skimped out for the Tilt 2. The cutout is only 3 pieces. One for the front and 2 for the back. Nothing for the sides. I called them on Thursday and complained about this. They customer service rep said he will send an email to the developers to see why they neglected to provide coverage for the sides.
As I stated in my earlier posts I have been using Invisiblesheilds for several of my devices. They are expensive and not worth the money in my opinion. As far as lifetime warranty, you could get 3 gadgetsheildz (which is almost 1/2 the price of one Invisiblesheild) which should last you the life of the phone.
there is no side protection for the verizon touch pro2 either. zagg stated that some people complained about issues removing it when it covered the sides or something like that? so they cut off the surround protection on a lot of the american versions (if not all of them)
i got the bestskinsever.com shield for my sprint touch pro 2 and here are my comments:
- the back cover shield is very nicely done. it covers it edge to edge and has cutouts for all mic holes and the big section of speaker holes in the middle.
- the front pieces are much more problematic and i'm not sure what they were thinking.
the front comes in four pieces plus the screen. I didn't use the screen part so can't comment on that.
the top piece (above the screen) look like it is cut to cover the front surface of the top frame since it is shaped to fit exactly around the curve of the screen. however, it is just a bit longer than necessary so they hang like 1mm over the edge if you put it right up against the edge of the screen. this overhang is too little to stay in place if you bend it down onto the side. i ended up trying a few different positions and ended up shifting it down further onto the side, just above the power button (there is no cutout for the button), but this leaves a gap between the screen and the shield on the front and most of the top is left uncovered except for the sliver between the button and the edge.
the bottom piece has similar problems. you can tell that they only want you to have a slight 2mm overhang over the edge because there is a cutout for the mic right there which would not reach the mic if you placed it flush with the screen. again, there is an exposed gap between the screen and shield and also of the bottom side of the phone.
there are two long, narrow rectangular pieces for the sides. again, they are not wide enough to fully cover the side frame area. if put flush to the screen, they leave a lot of side exposed. i ended up putting it somewhat in the middle. i also had problems positioning them to fit properly between the top and bottom pieces because they are too narrow to stay down when using water. i had to do them over and over and ended up trimming the ends a bit with scissors, but still ended up with some gaps between the top and bottom.
there is really no protection on the corners of the phone on the front side, which is really the most critical for protecting against drops. the tiny bit of overhang on the front pieces are too small to stay down when using the soap and water application method so i had to peel them and start over several times using no water, so they are already not sticking well and are coming off in the corners. the multiple pieces that are hard to position exactly flush with each other and the fact that they do not fit to the edges of the front seams add many more "edges" where there should be none and this really ruins the smooth tactile feel of the phone.
so, i like the back but the design of the front pieces is bad. I'll be providing feedback to them and hopefully they can revise their design.
I haven't tried the others, but am fairly happy with the BodyGuardz. The fit on the Tilt2 is excellent. I recently removed the BodyGuardz screen protector and put on a non-glare screen protector from BoxWave. I didn't find the "rubbery" feel of the BodyGuardz was a problem at all for using the touch screen, I just wanted a less glossy screen.
After two months, the side pieces (that cover the chrome bezel on my Tilt2) are starting to come loose at the corners, and I trim them a little bit as they do so. It's probably due to carrying the phone in my pocket most of the time. I'd like to get a Seidio spring clip holster, but it looks like the one they're currently selling is for the CDMA Rhodiums.
I still have the second set of BodyGuardz protectors, I'll probably wait until I find a good holster and then put them on.

Does anyone know where to get some decent quality and decent price screen protectors? The ones at AT&T and Best Buy are wayyyy overpriced.
I never liked screen protectors, but Naked Shield on ebay is about $2 per, and work very well.
The gorilla glass on these SGS phones are fantastic. I still have my Captivate that is now a year old and the glass cleans up like new. Never had a shield of any sort on it. It lived in my pocket unless I was using it. Now it lives in my wifes purse now that I have the GSII

There really is no need for any type of screen protector at all! I started using them back with my Captivate for a short period of time. But after the viewing quality was just irritaing be and taking away from that Super AMOLED goodness I ripped it off and never looked back. I have never had an issue with not having one, no scratches or degridation of quality and even a better finger swipe response because there is nothing hindering it or causing that "Stickyness" that some sreen protectors have. So I would ditch the screen protector idea and you wont be sorry. Just keep a nice soft lint free cloth/towel nearby to wipe finger prints and face oils from calling and things will be nothing but beautiful for you! Trust me coming from the Infuse where screen is all that phone was for me...It was very manageable and just awesome!
Waiting for realook to make one for the At&t model. Pretty much unnoticeable and retains the glassy look and feel. Loved it on the Captivate.

Same here...Dumped screen protectors. I took key to the glass in the corner and could not scratch it so I figure with normal use and pocket change it should be fine. My captivate never had a single scratch on the glass. The edges may get a nick or two but its a phone not a work of art. Buy the time I pay for good cases and screen protectors I could sell the phone for $50-75 less than the going rate and still be way ahead in a year.
But "fear sells" and they get a lot of money for a clear piece of "special" plastic. Spend the money on an extra Samsung battery and desk charger....
i used a leftover inspire screen protector. it fits perfectly and flushed cuts off right below the earpiece.
BodyGuardz has come out with their screen protector. I'm not trying to blatantly peddle their product, but I honestly think its important. It really depends on how anal you are about scratches. I'm ok with them on the body/sides but not on the screen. I've used it on my iPhone 3gs and it is still in perfect condition. Also, I there wasnt any loss of quality on my 3gs (no comments for the S II yet).
Gorilla Glass will scratch. Its selling point is that it is less likely to break not that it prevents scratches.
With that said, I bought just a screen protector and not a full body skin.

Its really hard to tell from these pictures but this is the screen from my captivate. It may look like the glass is shattered but actually it is near flawless. Its the lcd that is damaged. The only scratches on the glass are on the top of the screen(the little white lines).
This phone was kinda my test dummy for a handlebar holder on my motorcycle. The first time i dropped it on my bike it fell out of my pocket on the highway at night about 100mph. I felt it fall out but couldnt find it at night. Went back the next day and found the phone and the battery not the back cover. Put the battery in and it turned right on...it rained quite a bit that morning too. The screen was still flawless.
The second time i had the phone in the handlebar holder vertically recording a ride. It fell out after coming down from a small wheelie at maybe 80. I turned around searched for a minute and found it...it was still recording. I have the video. Screen still flawless. This fall was the only time i had a rubber case on. Thats why batt didnt fall out
The last fall was on a highway again at night...i love night rides. I was flying at about 140ish and i felt the phone hit me after falling from the holder i tried to save it to no avail. Looked forever. Went back the next day walked the side and found all the seperate pieces(batt,phone,cover). This time the lcd was broke from the fall. But as you can see the gorilla glass is still like perfect. The few tiny scratches at the top came from this fall...whoopdie doo. The phone still works i was able to use another captivate and simultaneously do the steps to get my busted one in recovery and mount usb to get my info.
Long story short samsung phones frickin rule and so does gorilla glass. I didnt mention the times of other random falls and even throws from frustration and also working construction. I will be buying a new digitalizer for the cappy sometime and keeping that bad boy as a worthy backup.
Am i putting a screen protector on this slick beautiful screen of the sgs2...i think not!

No clue on the quality but it should be one of the best. Seems like most of their products are "premium" price. I only used their trackguard/palmguard and keyboard guard for my MacBook Air, other than that I haven't tried their screen protectors.

I went with the "UltraTough Clear ScreenGuardz (Wet Apply)." I'm not sure how the dry vs. wet will turn out, but I'm more used to the wet application.
I believe the first two are more for visual and acetic appeal as opposed to shear protection. The last two should provide the best level of protection.
If you do worse than this to your screen you may need a screen "protector".....

I don't want to start a war, but read this comment from that last video:
"Actually, you never see the tests for Gorilla glass using concrete. Concrete and substances made of a harder material that Gorilla Glass will scratch it, however metal things (like keys) won't. So sand, concrete, tarmac, flint and so on will scratch it, this isn't a dumy phone."
I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it sounds plausible. At the end of the day I would rather use protection that I know (or believe strongly) will work. But I have to agree that Zagg is clearly trying to sell you their product by putting it through a little bit more extreme situation. And the Engadget one is just crazy.

I had one on my captivate for a year. did the trick. I do contractor work and dj at night so screen protectors are in order. Mine should be here thursday.
I like the moshi iVisor AG one that the at&t store has because it covers up the ugly at&t logo. Pretty pricey though...

No it is less likely to scratch as well. That doesn't mean you CAN'T scratch it, but it resists normal usage scratches as well as keys and change in your pocket. You can't compare a Iphone screen to GG. I've yet to see a Iphone screen that hasn't been scratched up from just daily fingertip use. I can see where people are use to using them in the past so they just keep it going. Technology is a wonderful thing and GG is definitely a fantastic technology upgrade.

That comment is just plain stupid. Not yours but the one you quoted. That's like saying a grinder will scratch it and a diamond will if you push hard enough and try really hard. Who in their right mind would purposely rub their phone on concrete or a flint. Dropping your phone on a concrete road isn't a problem. Been there, done that. Skipping it across a parking lot, like a rock in water might. This isn't a black box from a airplane, it's a phone. If you dropped your phone on concrete hard enough to scratch GG, i'm sure it would tear through any protector you can buy and scratch it anyway.
To each his own but this screen if FAR better and scratch resistant than anything currently on the market and massively better than any of the Iphone screens to date.
So tomorrow i'm getting my Lumia, and i was wondering if it was possible to apply a genric screen protector on it while i wait for the specific one i ordered. Do they actually stick on this particular curved glass screen? What should i use for the moment? I don't wanna end with this bad boy scratched in just a couple days...
Even since my Blackberry days, I have always used screen protectors. This phone represents a big departure for me from that..
I have a belt carrying case or I'll carry the phone in a sort or jacket pocket after making sure nothing else is there.
Carrying in pants pocket is out of the question..
To me the glass and the coating are part of the design of the phone and in this case the shape and texture of the naked screen is what really makes this phone stand head and shoulders above iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or any other higher end peers.
In my opinion, adding any protector in addition to
the silicone case Nokia provides would really take that advantage away and dumb the phone down..
Yeah i feel that too, but you know i'm an offroad rider and the place i live also has some quite sandy ground...i've always managed to scratch every surface i was carrying with me, even the sapphire cristal of my good old Sector watch, so i'll be always too scared to carry a phone naked, especially if it's so damn beautiful...i'm a dangerous man i guess
I bought a Nillkin screen protector and even though it works really well, the cutting is only till the border of the actual screen. It does not go till the edge where the polycarbonate body begins.
So conclusion is that it sucks. I will be interested in any other screen protector anybody has tried which can reach till all the four edges of the screen.

Use those flexible protectors like Invisishield/BestSkinsEver etc. You can stretch it while applying.
Is a screen protector needed? This phone is fitted with gorrilla glass...
i have to admit my screen gets immensely greasy - i don't think it has any kind of anti smudge coating on it. at least mine didn't - i haven't seen anybody else's one.
Every screen irrespective of it being a Gorilla or Chimpanzee needs a protector. If you have sensitive eyes you can make out minute microscopic scratches that form in an arranged fashion after 2months of use. I hate it.
I am still looking to see if there is any protector out there that can fit edge to edge. Shucks with all the technology out there people cant make a thin plastic sheet that fits a curved screen ??
Skinomi's protections cover the whole screen. I purchased one, and quite happy about it. Fits perfectly egde to edge. It's not a rigid plastic protection like the cheap chinese ones, it is flexible and bends naturally on the curve.
You can find it on Skinomi's website, thought I think it is cheaper on amazon (like $6 or $7).
Don't worry about the picture you may find (which is one of an N9 screen protection) there is only one hole for the sensor on the actual protection.

Note that it will probably be scary ugly after the installation (microbubbles, haze...) but it gets better after a few hours (12 to 20 in my case) and perfect after a few days.
Honestly i wouldn't go generic, you get what you payed for. Trust me i've learned the hard way haha

Fantastic. It is truly invisible and sits neatly edge to edge. I could only make it out from the hole given for the sensor. Good job and thanks a lot. I am ordering one now from eBay.

Besides this phone has gorilla glass. I have not even managed to scratch my other previous phones without gorilla glass after months of use. I rather take the risk of getting a little scratch rather than take away the nice touch feel of the screen.

Then you must not have exposed it to sand. I have managed to scratch almost all the screens I have had on cell phones without a screen protector even if they were made out of gorilla glass. Sand is the enemy to every screen. Metal, like keys or knives, are softer that the glass but sand (or some particles of sand) are not.
I just bought some cheap chinese screen protector (dry application) and it looked horrible. Had it on for 5 minutes and then ripped it off. Have to find a good soft wet application protector now, hopefully before I manage to scratch that thing of beauty.
I've heard good reviews of the Skinomi ones, so I may go for one of those. Does anybody know if the full body (transparent) version has something to cover the super-scratch-prone chrome around the camera? If you know about any screen protector with that feature please let me know, otherwise I'll order the screen only version and use some (custom?) workaround for the chrome thing...

I did order a couple for my Omnia a few weeks ago, but unluckily they came faulty, with pretty irregular cut borders and a nasty white drop of some kind of glue in the middle. They were totally unusable. I wanted to send them back for a replacement, but a couple days later I've lost my Omnia at a concert...oh well

Was wondering what your opinions were on a case and screen protector. I'm using a Zagg InvisibleSheild right now with the silicon-based, glossy case that Verizon offered when I bought my phone (the Zagg I bought later on). My only gripes are that the case feels like a grease magnet, and, while the I don't mind the looks of the screen protector, it is anything but smudge-resistant. I had an anti-glare screen protector with some plastic hard-shell case combo on my old IP4, and loved them.
What do you guys suggest? I can't seem to find any good anti-glare screen protectors out there, at least on Amazon anyway. Are there (relatively thin) cases that cover the power button like the volume rocker, to make it easier to press?

I had such a hard time putting on those screen protectors when I had my original Motorola DROID that i'd never buy those things again. It's not worth the trouble it takes to put them on without getting annoying bubbles underneath, or when they get dirty/worn around the edges and start coming back off.
I remember asking a Verizon employee to put them on when I bought some extra ones from them in-store and after I watched them fight trying to get one on good I said nevermind these things are junk I don't want them. They don't help with touchscreen response either.
In my experience I think screen protectors are the biggest waste of time (for protection) - The only real benefit is it can sometimes make the screen feel easier to touch and less fingerprints.
I am a very active phone user. I have an SGS 3 for business and DNA for daily use. I have also owned lots of high end smartphones. The only time I ever used a screen protector was with a business original iPhone 3G (was already on) after it becoming annoying to me I ripped it off. Not once have I ever encountered scratches that I can notice without having the screen off and on some crazy angle with with a completely blank screen. Yes there are extremely light scratches that are only noticeable under these angles but anybody upset about this is simply nitpicking or being a princess.
I used to work for a Telco company dealing with repairs and I can tell you this much. If your screen is going to get a deep scratch from something it won't matter if you use one or not, however if you are always taking your phone to the beach and rolling around in sand, filling your pockets with sand and jamming your phone against the granules then a screen protector might reduce the impact. Other than that it is a complete waste of time when it comes down to protection.
I also think it is absolutely ridiculous when people try to argue this and show me there phone with a screen protector on it covered in tiny scratches. Firstly screen protectors (Unless you buy glass ones) are going to scratch easier than the your screen, but the funny thing is, people actually leave the protector on with these scratches present and don't seem to complain about the look of it? 90% of people I know never change their screen protector and it totally defeats the purpose of having one if it is more scratched than what it would be without one.
What do you think that when you sell the phone that you will pull that screen protector off and suddenly the phone is worth more money because it doesn't have those tiny scratches that nobody can notice? In most cases you are selling an outdated phone and considering I have sold hundreds of phones second hand, the last thing people are worried about with a second hand phone is turning the screen off and examining minuscule scratches on weird angles. You do realise that people actually have the screen on when they use the phone?
So my advice to anybody who uses or is looking to use a screen protector is if you think this is going to save your phone against "noticeable scratches" then you are 100% wrong - If you use one that reduces fingerprints, has a likeable sensitivity and you like the look and feel of it than I understand, that is simply your preference and I can respect that. In any other scenario I think it is time to grow a pair and rip that stupid thing off and try it for yourself.
Pros:
Might reduce light scratches directly to the screen that you would need to search for on certain angles with a blank screen, lol
If you roll in sand you might have a reduction in the depth of the scratch
Some people prefer the feel of a protector
Some might offer less fingerprints
Cons:
Makes screen duller, even if some offer 99% clearness it is still duller
Can reduce screen sensitivity
Unless you put it on perfectly it will be noticeable due to peeling up, bubbles, dirt or just the plain visuals of the material
If you have paid for it than you have most likely wasted your money
As for cases, the best protection with the least bulk would be one of the TPU cases with the S design on the back. You can get better protection but it will be twice if not thrice as bulky

I have used Diztronic in the past and they are above average. I would still say that the best case so far I have used for my phone would be the Ballistic cases
On the left is the front of my cases and on the right is the back
The 3 on the top starting from the left are Qmadix White/Grey and Purple/Grey These cases are FANTASTIC for protection. They are half silicon and half solid plastic, you can actually flex and bend the cases and they spring back, they are a very tight fit and the indentation on the sides make it easy to grip when you need to access the power button, which is nice and easy to press in and they also help when you're using for anything 1 handed.
Then you have the Ballistic LS series in Grey which is probably the best protection you will get for this phone for it's size. The only part that is large is obviously the corners, they are oversized silicon with a solid hard cap deliberately for cushion landing and they have a great track record for drop tests as it is usually the corner impact that does the most damage, it does however look a bit dorky. Down the bottom is also a Ballistic this time in Black and it's the Shell Gell regular. Overall this case feels the best for comfort and button pressing vs overall protection. The Qmadix cases are on par but just a little bit harder on the buttons, keep in mind they are a slimmer fit. Next we have a clear S design TPU case which offers great protection for it's size, however the power button is very hard to press in unless you get it perfectly square on and it just doesn't feel as nice in the hand, it is very slim.
The last case is the Poetic Palette which offers the worst protection out of all of them as it is designed only to be a barely there case. It doesn't cover the bottom or top of the bezel and it doesn't wrap around the edges. I have shattered 2 screens using this style of case and I wouldn't recommend this to anybody. I didn't even order this case, I actually ordered the Poetic Atmosphere which looks fantastic but they sent me the wrong case
I am constantly changing between all of these cases besides the Poetic Pallette which I didn't even want and the Grey Ballistic with massive corners as it is just too weird looking. All of the others are fantastic and I would rate them like this
Ballistic Shell Gel + Qmadix are a tie. It's hard for me to settle on just 1 lol.
Clear TPU is great but not as comfortable so it comes in second
Keep in mind I AM A VERY ACTIVE SINGLE HANDED USER! I drop my phone at least a few times a week

I always put an invisible shield on my phones (even though many people don't like them) mostly so if it does get scratched I can "un-scratch it" with a $5 warranty replacement OR when I go to sell the phone it's still perfect for the next person.
If my screen protector gets scratched I can fix the problem in 3 days for $5. If my glass screen is scratched it's going to cost me at least $100 to fix.

If you sell your phone still as a current model in new condition then it might work in your favour. As my comment suggests earlier, this bothers very few buyers when they purchase a second hand phone. I used to sell refurbished handsets all day every day. Light scratches are not noticeable unless the screen is off and you hold it on an angle. If you get a scratch deeper than this it won't matter if you have a screen protector or not, it's going to scratch the same.
I have seen way too many phones with evidence of this due to the nature of my profession. However, some people are very picky when it even comes to these light scratches (Which are more like minuscule clear marks) even on their CD's and Movies. Some also believe it is far nicer to swipe the screen with a protector on! - I personally can't stand the feel and look of them. Nothing like riding bareback

Yeah I sold my Galaxy Nexus for $220 in about 3 days because it was still in perfect condition. It's also mostly just about the fact that scratches annoy me and i'd rather be constantly changing screen protectors than to look at it lol
I actually think the ones from Verizon aren't too bad at all. They aren't edge to edge, but because of the curved glass, this material probably can't be. It covers the screen and buttons, doesn't take much away from the screen, and is cheap peace of mind. That's not to say they're the best out there. But they're cheap and readily available.
I do sometimes think about going naked, both on the case and the screen protector. One the one hand, I've always liked the idea that a $4-10 piece of plastic is taking the abuse, and I can easily rip it off and replace it when needed. On the other, the plastic will actually scratch more easily than the glass. So just because our screen protectors end up with scratches on them does not necessarily validate the need to use them. Some of those scratches on the screen protectors wouldn't have happened on the glass. But some certainly could have, so it really comes down to how much you care about scratches and how much risk you want to take.
I have learned that a screen protector is good the hard way.
I carry a small flashlight on my beltloop and i tuck the light into my pocket, well the flashlight is harder then the glass and it will put light scratches on it.
An otterbox case will do everything you want. It comes with the best screen protector I've ever used and it makes the power and volume MUCH easier to push. It also makes the phone nearly indestructible and is fairly priced IMO. I really hate screen protectors as a rule butt the otterbox wasn't too bad. I did eventually remove it from the case though.
I went with a Qmadix case which was recommended, thanks for giving recommendations for it. The power button is much easier to use.
By the way, does anyone have any positive experience with a tight fitting case and screen protectors? Particularly a screen protector that doesn't bubble up around the edges with this or a similar case?

Seidio just came out with an active case for the dna. It isn't the thinnest, but the kickstand on it is very high quality to match the rest of the case. I just received mine an couple days ago and have been very happy with it so far. It's similar to the commuter otter box, but with an added kickstand and better feeling materials. Very protective as well.

Hah, I do have that case which I just came off of.
There are two small gripes I have with it, one being the power button is even more receded with that case, and the other being that I didn't like the greasy feel it had (at least for me). This Qmadix case I'm using now has a nice grip to it, and the power button is beveled like the volume rocker cover; it doesn't give that "cushiony" feel when I sit it down like the silicone case, though... It adds some thickness to the set as opposed to the silicon case, but not that much. It almost has an Otterbox look to it but, considering I've never owned an Otterbox, I believe it is still quite thinner.
I sort of solved the bubbling of my Zagg screen protector by reseating the case; that being said, I nearly tore my phone in half removing the case. Some of the tabs started popping up which held the front face onto the phone. Yikes! Guess I should've been a bit more gentle. It snapped back together without problems, thankfully.
Is there a case that offers as much protection as say the silicon case at Verizon, but has a built in kickstand on the backside?
Just got this case in the mail today, sort of seidio activeish but minus the kickstand. Worth the 5 bucks I spent but my old lady has the note 2 and active case, the fit around the buttons is crazy different. Very loose and sloppy on my apex case

Review - Exact Case (Slender) & Sparin Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Shield K1
A few weeks back I purchased both of the above from Amazon. I figured I'd give a review on both items.

I purchased the case in brown. If you search Amazon, the prices for this particular case vary greatly, even from the same vendor. I found a deal where it was only $1.95 for the case and $4.95 for shipping. Other ads by the same vendor have it for as much as $12.00 plus shipping, so look around. Be advised, there is also an Exact case sold without the "Slender" designation, and this is a case where the tablet slips inside and is surrounded by a leather-like material and it's velcroed in place. The case I'm reviewing holds onto the tablet by its four corners, and there is absolutely nothing that gets near the screen or top speakers.
Fit - it fits almost perfectly. I say almost with a small reservation. When you press it into the case, it fits just right, almost a perfect fit. I say almost, as I would have liked it to fit in with a "snap". The four corners do hold the tablet in quite well, and I do not think the tablet will come out of the case in normal use or thrown in a bag. But, I think that if the tablet were dropped from a small distance, the case would go flying one way and the tablet the other. I'm not going to try this, as I don't want to find out for sure, but it seems as though the four corner retention clips are more of a press fit than a snap fit (if that makes sense). As to quality, I give it very high marks! The finish is great! It looks like leather in texture, and it is all attached to the plastic shell quite well with no gaps or irregularities or glue lines or anything. In looks alone it looks like it should cost at least $20 to $40. When the cover is folded fully open, the tablet still fits the hand well with no annoying sharp edges, and it's comfortable to hold. The flexible hinge where the cover meets the shell is also great...no glue lines, and no peeling in about 2 weeks of daily use. The cover is held closed to the tablet with 2 magnets. The magnets hold it quite positively, and it's not going to open on its own. I was worried that I would permanently bend the cover along its edge while opening it due to the good hold the magnets have on it, but It's still straight and showing no signs of bending or wear. The magnets in the cover flap itself put the tablet to sleep 100% of the time when the cover is closed, and it takes an inch of opening the tablet for the built-in magnets to get far away enough for the tablet to wake up. My only gripe, and it's not fully a real gripe is that this case/cover was made for the original Shield Tablet, and not specifically for the Shield Tablet K1, so it has the cutout on the side for the original tablet's stylus (the K1 does not have a stylus silo, nor does it come with a stylus). But, I knew the cutout would be there before I purchased it, so in effect, it's not really a gripe at all. The cutout does not get in the way at all when handling the tablet. As to the rest of the cutouts, they are perfect! No issues with the camera being obscured as it is with some other cases out there, and there are even cut outs for the two bass ports that are situated on the edges of the tablet to the sides of the larger forward facing speakers. The cover at this point does not work great at holding the tablet up to view videos, for example. There are magnets in the flap that are supposed to hold onto the case to allow viewing in landscape mode, but they don't hold well and the tablet slowly settles down flat to the table. Bear in mind it has gotten better since new, as it would not hold at all when new. This appears to be because the creases in the flap are still new and not as flexible as they need to be. Over 2 weeks time they have become a bit more flexible and are holding better, but not perfect yet. I've only tried it a few times so I've not really been flexing these hinges much. But I think over time, with more use, it will work as it's supposed to. Time will tell! Lastly, drop protection...I don't think this case really has much if any. If the tablet falls on one of it's corners, there is only about 1/16" of plastic sitting there. Would it help? Maybe. There is absolutely no rubber anywhere on this case, so the only shock protection there might be, if any, might be is the soft cover flap. But, I did not buy this case for drop protection. I bought it for its minimalist dimensions, non interference with the screen, properly sized openings, light weight, and scratch protection while traveling. In those regards, it is perfect.
So, if I had to give a numerical grade on this case, I would give it somewhere between a 95% to 99% . My only points of detraction would be for what I believe would be it not retaining the tablet in a fall. If you were to pick one up, it's possible yours might snap in better than mine, but I'm only guessing at this as I only have experience with the particular one I own. Would i go out and buy it again? Definitely YES!!!
As to the Sparin tempered glassscreen protector...I only installed it a few days ago, so my comments on my experience are limited. What can i say? It was postal packaged well for shipping (it was sent direct from the manufacturer with no damage). It was packaged well within its manufacturer's case too. The item comes with everything you might need to successfully apply the glass protector to the tablet. There were both wet and dry wipes (Not sure but the dry wipe might also be an anti-static wipe, which would help with static attracted dust), a microfiber cloth, positioning stickers, dust removal sticker, and a cardboard squeegee (which IMO seems to be totally useless with a tempered glass screen protector). There may have been more items included, but I don't remember. After cleaning the screen many times along with eagle-eye inspection to ensure no dust specs remained (and a steamy room to keep dust down), I applied the protector free hand. It went on with no issues and sucked right down onto the glass. I did have one bubble that formed during adhesion, but I was able to wipe it away to the edge of the glass with some pressure from my finger and it disappeared. There are a couple of line of entrapped air along one edge, near a speaker grill, which I cannot push away, but it's nowhere near the light-up portion of the screen so I'm not too concerned about it. It does not appear to be caused by dust or anything. i'm wondering if it might be a small depression in the tablet's screen. As far as I can tell...no scientific tests available here ...there is no difference in the slickness compared to a stock screen, and no loss of screen sensitivity. As an asides...I placed the glass, with adhesive peel sheet still attached, while still in its foam shipping sleeve upon the tablet, and it still didn't seem to affect touch sensitivity. I also don't think there is any loss of brightness through the new glass (impossible to tell once it's actually affixed), but it looked crystal clear before it was applied. Not sure just yet, but I think there may now be less of a fingerprint issue with this glass' coating. The protector is a slight bit shorter in the long dimension than the tablet's glass...maybe 1/16" shorter, but it's a non-issue as the light-up portion of the screen does not come anywhere near this area. I'd rather they err on it being shorter than longer. The edges of the glass are rounded all the way around, so no sharp edges to the fingers. I really can't find any fault with this item, and when I review, I'm always looking for faults! I guess I'm more of a pessimist than I am an optimist. So, I'd give this item a 100%
Would I buy it again? Definitely YES! Also, compared to reviews on other tempered glass protectors for the Shield Tablet, this item had the fewest complaints of them all, which is why i went for this one in the first place.

I would like to see some pictures if possible. Quick question for you: Is the cover "floppy"? By that I mean does the cover easily bend and flop around at the indentations made to prop up the tablet? I bought a generic case for my K1 which did and it drove me nuts to carry while holding it like a book.

That skewed gray stripe near the top of the screen is just a strange reflection from something in the room. The screen looks fantastic. It's probably set for somewhere around 60% brightness in this image.
The screen protector is just a fraction of an inch on the short side. Maybe 1/32" or 1/16" short, but I don't care as it fully covers the light-up portion of the screen by a very good margin...all the way up to the speakers, but just a bit shy. All the edges that your finger might come into contact with are rounded, and not sharp!
i bought the "same" cover but with black colour and it's pretty good. Now i 'm looking for a tempered glass, but some brands dont send to my country (Portugal) or the shipping costs are too damn high . tks for the pics

Got a Pixel 4a in yesterday and a couple screen protectors. Here are my thoughts on them, in case this is useful for somebody.

The clarity and feel of the screen protector is just fine. Good to hear about the Omoton. I was pretty satisfied with the one on my OnePlus 6T. Got it perfect the first time, no lint or bubbles underneath, and it's still that way a month later. That's what I ordered for the 4a that's on the way.
Bought a "Lightning King" (L[emoji298]K) for a 3a off Amazon for cheap. You get three glass protectors which have camera cut out. I'm very satisfied with this product... And I'm picky.
If they make one for 4a get it

Purchased these off of Amazon and they seem okay until you try to get the edges to seal to the screen. Mine has a small gap I think because the actual screen protector is too big for the screen. So I would avoid.

Have the Omoton protector. Covers the usable screen, could be a bit wider, but it's better than their 3a protector, which distorted the edges of the display. No clarity issues, no installation issues. The cutout at the top of the screen for the speaker is unnecessarily wide. No hole punch. Reddit hasn't noticed a difference in selfie quality with/without a screen protector covering the camera.
My review of the Zagg Invisishield screen protector offered on the Google Play Store. Within 2 days of receiving the phone & applying the protector, I had thought I cracked my screen. Turned out to be the screen protector so Google is refunding me for that 40 bucks. Whew. Don't get tempered glass protectors. I hadn't dropped the phone or anything so the Zagg just decided to splinter and crack on its own.

They do make one and they're excellent. The installation is very easy with the supplied frame. It looks like it will work with pretty much any case.
I purchased the Mr. Shield screen protectors. I have had them for a few phones now and they always honor the lifetime warranty when I ask for replacements.
This one fits well. On the sides it is exactly as wide as the lit portion of the screen. No issue, but a tiny bit wider might have helped those who are not great with I stalls. Top and bottom are a little longer than the lit portion of the screen.
I will say this one does a very very good job fighting oils and fingerprints. I have not had to clean the screen once in 3 days.
Overall great price. They have great customer service and it fits well. If you have trouble installing screen protectors this one might be difficult as the width is exactly the same as the screen.

ESR one sucks. Stupid halo/rainbow effect in the middle. Don't get that one. I have the Unique Me brand one coming as well to try.

Any rainbow effect or adhesion issues on the edges?
Another down vote for Zagg. The corner with the cutout won't fully adhere to the screen.
I ordered ArmorShield. I had it on my last two phones and it was an excellent protector that lasted over two years. I had to order from the company because AMZ didn't have stock yet.

If you install it correctly it looks perfect. When you shift the phone side to side you can see one small line for the edge of pixels.
I am almost OCD about this stuff and it has not even captured my eye once. Just my 2 cents.

Easy install, all good. No issue with Spigen Crystalclear case. Has a cut out for the camera, we will see how it holds up.

Installed the first one yesterday; went on fine, perfectly aligned, crystal clear, no conflict with the Spigen Tough Armor case, and looked to be of high quality, similar to Ailun & SuperShieldz. Totally satisfied.

Yep. First time I've ever bought them with an alignment frame included - worked very well.
I've never used a screen protector before, but now that a canister of cooking spray fell and broke my 3a XL's glass and display, I have an order for a 4a Just wondering, honestly, how well tempered screen protectors actually work. My understanding is that in theory, in my situation for example, instead of the glass/display being broken, a protector would have shattered first, more than likely saving the actual phone screen. Do these protectors help a whole lot, or not all that much in real world use if stuff falls on the phone, or you drop it and are unlucky that it should fall face-down on a hard surface? I do have an order for protectors on the way this time since it seems like it can't hurt.,

Over the years, I have chipped, cracked and, in one case, shattered screen protectors; but never had the phone screen damaged. In the vast majority of those cases, I'm sure there would have been damage to the phone. I also put cases on my phones, for the same reason.

Can you show how the LK protector fits the display? Like the camera cutout and how far past the display does the protector go or does it end with the display? I have a LK protector on my 3a and it's the best fitting protector I've ever had. I have a 4a coming and want to confirm if the LK protectors fit correctly before I order.

Maybe check out some of the reviews/pictures/videos on Amazon. It looks like there are pictures of what you're asking for I bought the LK based on what I've read here, just waiting for my 4a and case, protectors,, to come in!
