Okay I have 2.47 SPL, 3.42.30 Radio, 3.2.3 Rom and Telus Carrier Cab. I have installed adobe reader from adobe.com and now I can not just click on the adobe file to open it. I have to run the adobe program first then open the file through adobe. Anyone have an adobe that will work like it used too!
Cheers

I have seen this on many of my installs. Try turning off the "reflow" option. I think that is what it is called any way. It seems that a large picture, (London Tube map for instance), does not open with this option on. Let me know if my guess is correct.
Cheers
Perhaps you can try MyExtensions and register the extensions manually?

Try using the latest version (2.5). The version on Adobe's site is 2.0. Uninstall the version you have now and install the version I've attached below and let me know.

uninstall both first.
then install gc14 cab
May I *HIGHLY* recommend you install FoxIt Reader instead of the bloatware from Adobe.
On our poor Titans that suffer from lack of RAM, Adobe runs very slowly and eats up just about all your available resources.
I used the Adobe reader for many months until I came across Foxit, and it runs SO much faster and smoother, with all the same features.

Hi there
I'm new here, and I own a HTC Hero (GSM) which I really like it! I was waiting for the official 2.1 update from HTC but I soon found out that HTC keep postponing the release date and I really can't wait anymore.
I really want to root my phone and install a custom rom,I've keep searching for guides and "how to" toipics from XDA and google but I really don't understand a lot of what they were saying.
Alright here is my question
1. What is Vanilla,Espresso and this Kitchen thingy?
2. What does this full wipe means? does it really wipe all my data on my phone?
3. What is a busybox,VPN,APN, and AOSP?
4. What is this Launcher 2 and HelixLauncher thing?
5. Does the Custom Rom (Android 2.1 custom rom) have bluetooth file sharing features?
6. How do I install this "Apps 2 SD"?
7. Which is better way to root the phone? The unlokr.com (one click rooting) way or the XDA ones?
8. What is JIT? I've seen a lot of rom have this JIT enabled thingy...
9. Which is the best custom rom on XDA? (doesn't matter if it wasn't a Sense UI one,I just want a stable, fast, less buggy custom rom)
Sorry for asking a lot of qustions, but I really want to make sure what am I doing before rooting and installing custom rom on my HTC Hero.
many thanks in advance!

1.Vanilla=Type of ROM where is no HTC stuff like Sense included.
Espresso= Version of Android
Kitchen= Select which apps u want to use on certain custom ROM´s.
2: This mean u shoud wipe data/factory reset, wipe Dalvik(APP)Cache, Wipe SD:ExT Partition (If its there)
3.Busybox= Root Features for your Hero, VPN= ?, APN=Mobile Network Connection Points?, AOSP= Android Open Source Project
4.Launcher2= HomeApp with 5 Homescreens, HelixLauncher= Another Home App
5.Yes they have but u should not use them.
6. Different on every ROM. APPS2SD means that u can install apps on your SDcard.
7.One Click Rooting should not work anymore so u should use the XDA´s one.
8.JIT is a combile method that translate directly to maschine code i think please use google.
9.Best is Kimera 1.6 or Modaco 3.2 - u should not use 2.1 ROMS they are quiete to buggy!
I sell my Hero next Week when my Desire is Arrived =) But have fun with the Hero ;-)
PS: Sry for my bad English.
1. Vanilla means stock android, without any visual or functional enhancements. Espresso is a User Interface, just like Sense. The kitchen is used for adding or removing ROM components(and other stuff too).
2. Full wipe means erasing all data and cache. Yes, you lose all your installed apps, contacts, texts and such. Basically it's a factory reset.
3. Busybox extends the android shell functionality. VPN = virtual private network, APN = access point name, AOSP = android open source project -- you could google for all
As you can see, all the information i've provided you can be found by searching google. So, to help you enhance your 'googling' skills, I will let you answer the remaining questions by yourself.
Moreover, this is the development section. Next time post these kinds of questions in the Q&A section.

Should I wait?
Alright, sorry for double posting but I really want to ask this qustions, well actually I should ask this question myself but I want some opinion from u guys
Should I wait for the official release from HTC for the Android 2.1 with Sense for the HTC Hero?
just stay on original/stock rom . 2.73.xxx.xx
This is better. and wait for 2.1 update
it's my opinion.

How pissed off are you with 1.5? Have you seen/used 2.1? Did you like it? etc etc etc

Then if you install 2.1 stock, it'll lock the phone down removing the possibility of ever rooting it, no?
Personally I'd root it and go with modaco latest if you want it roughly as stock but with some bugfixes then you've got the option of using custom roms in the future or whatever you want. you only need to root it once then you can do whatever you like.

Use the official 1.5 rom for a week to two weeks, then root and install a few different custom roms for a week to two weeks and then see what you prefer, you can either stay rooted on a custom rom or you can revert back to the original 1.5 official
there is a reason why Google was invented. e.g. you would be able to find stuff on ROMs like http://android.modaco.com/content/h.../304106/revote-for-best-2-1-rom-w-benchmarks/

if built in, maybe - check with the rom creator first
if app - yes...
then,
does Kimera custom rom (android 1.5) have chinese input support?
and how about the Modaco custom rom (also android 1.5),does it also have chinese input support too?
and if u say that there is an app to enable chinese input, what is the name of the app?

OIC - i've no idea. Sometimes the custom rom's have support for other languages and keyboards, some have better support than others. Check the market before or check with your preferred rom developer before flashing!
Here it is guys, install as any other apk.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KLP71VL3
Works fine on my HTC Legend on 2.2
Looks real nice Not sure if it is aprovement, but certainly looks different
apk didn't work on CM6.1
But the flashable zip from this topic did the trick

Does this really change the refund window to 15 minutes? Boourns
Nice interface though. I like it.
Does anyone experience the system slowing down extremely much with this update? have wiped data and cache for the third time now after my Legend got reeeaaaally slow. Will try not to update this Market for now, to see if this is it...
Edit: It was not.
Does anyone know how to restore the old market? I keep getting Force Closes.
You can unninstall this update using the application manager.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I flashed the ZIP package
By finding a zip file for the old one and flashing it.

This is not my work. I just found this patched version on wildfire's forum and it works just fine with nfinity rom

Anything for 1.6 like this?
Work fine on SPQRom -0.7
excellent, i'll download straight away
It says it cannot find build.prop. Is it not possible just to push it into /system/app ?
I get the same error on SP-FroYo ROM

Yes, just open the zip file and extract vending.apk
I get FC all the time on my Tattoo with SP-FroYo ROM
can't install it on nfinity froyo 1.15(can't find build.prop)
If you cannot flash it, open zip and find vending.apk, extract it and the push it or copy it(if you use a prog like android commander or android manager) to /system/app. Then reboot.
Thanks, it works perfectly! I deleted old vending.apk (after backup) and pushed the new one.
But i understand why it was not made for Tattoo, look at the screenshots.

I dont know why but it doesn't work for me on SPq ROM 0.7 and nFinity 0.15
I don't know about SPQRom, but I tested this on nfinity rom(1.13 and 1.15) and on kalimocho's latest version and works fine. Try to clear data for market from settings - applications.
It doesn't work because it's made with Wildfire build.prop someone has to put in our build.prop and resign it. I honestly don't know how to do it.
I can flash it without problems. I have clockwordmod recovery image for tattoo.
Anyway here is the patch with corrected build.prop
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10102232&postcount=37
working like charm
I have a 1722 result for video, up 200 from 1.82,
and it is very fast and nice on nfinity 1.15 OC to 710Hz
Cheers
Vuk
Just flashed it and FC
Any tips?
Latest Market running on Stock ROM 1.6 (donut)
Hi guys, apparently there's a version of the latest Market app that works on Tattoo with android 1.6, take a look at this post
I'm going to test it, hopefully it will work.

I have cm6.1.1 would it work on it?(g2)

Have confirmation of working on Tattoo cm6.1 roms, but on sense froyo needs data and cache wipe after flashing the update

Hi Arturo,
did it work for you?
I have a confirmation from Germany that it worked.
As I mentioned in the original post, here in uk i have download problems with market. Even a guy from Holland had problems.
Sorry for the stupid question - it's been a while that I used my X10 Mini Android phone...
I am trying to revive my phone for my son and just installed newest stock ROM from Sony. Everything works as Sony - expected, however I do not find e.g. the App Kytephone in the store to install. I heard that this app pretty much close down the phone and makes any android phone a great kids phone.
Any help how I can install that app? Any stting or update to marketpalce needed Would updating to any custom ROM might make that App available to install ? Which one is most stable (as my son shouldn't use too many features anyway...)
THANK YOU!
It needs Android 2.2 or higher, and sony's latest update is 2.1, that's why you can't find it in the store, so upgrading to a custom froyo or gingerbread rom should do the trick

Awsome - thanks, will try. I know this is a non-checker question and it all depends on individual opinions... However, could you name any ROM that has its strength in stability and battery life?
I would go with MiniCM7, the last version to run on stock kernel was 2.0.7, which is quite stable.
Or you could try this, which should run on 2.1 too

The market will only show apps that are suitable for our phones. You get more choice if you run the latest custom rom (which is Jellybean), but the market will also take into account things like the screen resolution, and the architecture of the chip used.
Apps developed specifically for Armv7 or higher won't run on our phones, which have Armv6 architecture, and if an app requires a resolution higher than 240x320, then the market won't show those options either.
If you want to try an app that is unsopported, find a .apk for that app (use a general search for that app), copy it to your sd-card and install it from there. If the app checks it's own requirements (rather than let google-play decide if it's appropriate) it still won't install though. Sometimes you'll get lucky, but that is really rare.
Usually the only way to get an 'unsupported' app to run is to get a different device that fulfill it's requirements.
