Am I the only one experiencing an overly sensitive Sense UI? Perhaps I'm missing a setting. I have looked all through /etc and can't find any way to adjust the sensitivity.
Anyone have a solution?
Touchscreen Spaz-out
I will say: occasionally my touch screen will just go bat-**** crazy, registering even the slightest movements as "clicks". The phone is completely unusable; god help you should you be in the lock screen.
Now, after observing this for a couple of days I have a hare-brained theory: it's related to how hot the device is. I've noticed that it happens after extended periods of use, or when it's plugged into the wall charger. Just unplugging it grants a short reprieve, and a refractory "cool down" period generally fixes it. Also it'll work sorta if you press down on the screen like you're trying to kill your phone.
Can anyone else confirm this?
I was getting a lot of the jitteryness and screen lockups before I loaded MR2, everything seems pretty fine now. I had more problems with my wife's myTouch than the eris for once last week.
I do not have any issues like this (I do have all the updates though)

this is random but, the touchscreen stops responding occasionally
specifically when i'm playing Mario Kart and holding the A button in for extended periods of time (n64oid)
it's not even when the system is hot it's really peculiar
actually now that i think about it this has happened a few times when i was on my homescreen as well where the touchscreen decided to stop responding yet if i pushed the buttons it still operated
anyone else seen this?
i was hoping it was ram related because i just used bloat freezer and cleaned up the ram nicely
The original X2 i had did this extremely often right out of the box (activation was a PITA)... as in it would work for 5-10 seconds (30 if i was lucky) and the touchscreen would "freeze" while all buttons and everything else were working as normal. Power button to make screen go off/on fixed it, but it would just happen 10 seconds later. Idk how bad yours is but if it is common enough see about a replacement (or hope OTA comes soon and fixes it for ya)
I'm Not Sure What It's Related To, Because I Can't Replicate It To A Certain Time Or Point Sometimes When Opening An App It Doesn't Recognize I Tapped The Icon Or When Texting Sometimes It Doesn't Know I Was Touching The Screen. Could Be Just Another Bug In The Software Which We Hope In The Future Will Be Resolved.
Its got the same feature as the atrix if one screen is pressed for more than 20secs in the same spot the screen turns off. Motorola claims to do this to protect against water damage
As stated almost every time a new thread hits this forum, the search function sucks, which is why I don't know, if this has been mentioned before, but:
Has anyone experienced, that once in a while the screen just rotates randomly, without any physical influences? I can even have it placed in the, so-called, multimedia dock, and the tab just rotates to portrait mode for a second or two, and then back again. It's highly irritating, and it hasn't been resolved with a factory reset.
Anyone with similar experience, and/or with a solution?
Same issue here. I use a cover case, it could be what causing this, i will try to remove it and let you know.
I haven't seen that, but I have seen mine rotate for a split second from just the slightest of tilts. Like sitting on my chest, I breathe with one hand holding it causing a slight tilt to that side.doesn't happen often at least.
whithout the case, it's better... Weird :/
Yes, this issue has been reported before and i also have this problem. But it's really rare, maybe 3-4 times a week?
My nook tablet was opening apps like Facebook and google search and typing unusual letters in the search and status boxes. Anyone seen anything like this? It honestly seemed like the device was being controlled remotely. I wasn't even touching the device and it was trying to type letters. My device has been rooted for about two weeks. I've not seen anything like this until tonight.
What was your battery charge? There are reports of the touchscreen acting weird when the battery is low.
yea, sounds more like a glitch in the touch screen. this happened on my phone. I would warranty it. Make sure you unroot first
It sounds like a defective unit... I have a Droid X that does the same thing; started happening about a month or two out of warranty. I've factory reset / SBF'd it a million times and it still happens, rooted or not.
For me, it seems to happen more frequently when the screen is dirty (but also happens when perfectly clean), and especially bad if I am wearing clothing that generates static electricity (fleece and other synthetics). Makes me wonder if the screen isn't grounded properly.. the phone has a lot more flex in the chasis than it should and sometimes flexing it in just the right way will make the problem stop.
Thanks
Thanks much for the replies. The battery was very low and I was sitting in a chair that could generate static electricity. Also noticed little bits of dog hair caught between the case and the screen. Not sure I'm going to return the unit just yet. It could have been a fluke. The only time I've seen a machine act like that is when someone controls a server at work remotely. It was really strange and seemed like a program was attempting to type on its own.
One other caveat is that I had installed Aurora on the tablet earlier in the night. It's a browser by Mozilla in development. It was running really sweet so I don't think that had anything to do with it. I did notice that the tablet was locking up on a couple pages and really sluggish for a bit while using the default browser. It then responded fine until the ghost took over.
One other question if anyone is still listening: if this happened to you did the keyboard come up? It didn't appear when the letters were being typed in my case.
I was thinking a cover and possibly a shield may be in order. I've got a year, so it if happens again even one time I'm going to return the unit- after unrooting of course.
My Nook Color will do this as well when it has been zapped by static electricity and when there are a bunch of finger prints all over the screen (usually when the finger oil gets built up around the edges of the screen it starts).
A good wipe down with a microfiber cloth (with the screen off) fixes it for me. Granted this is Nook Color and not my Nook Touch we're talking about, but I figure the behavior could be similar.
Good luck!

Weird, I could swear there was a thread about this, but now I can't find it for the life of me.
Anyway, it's a known issue- no need to panic and return the NT.
When the battery gets critically low, sometimes the NT will seem to have a mind of it's own and everything you describe starts happening. Apps open themselves, random text types itself, touchscreen completely unresponsive, etc.
I've seen exactly the same thing, and also at first wondered if it was a remote hack. Then I noticed the pattern that it's only during extreme power lows.
Just recharge to at least a minimal level and there's no problem.

Ah. I knew I posted there, but thread is strangely missing from my 'find all posts..' results.

Same thing happens to me but I only switch the screen off and on and then it goes away.
As has been mentioned, charge it, clean the screen, wash your hands. This should take care of the "autogibberish". As far as opening software... do you mean that it is opening foreground applications? Or that software will just load in the background? If the latter, this is NORMAL behavior of Android -- it will load software into memory so that it is instantly available when you try to run the software. If the former, probably related to the dirty screen.
I do NOT believe that this is a hardware defect. It rather is a side-effect of a LARGE touch surface. The bigger the touch surface, the more likely it is to be subject to random static charges.
Whoops didn't realize how this thread was!
Today something strange started happeneing. When the pen is a short distance from the screen, the flyer starts to pick up the pen's movements.
Yesterday I was using it and this was not happening. I didn't update anything overnight so this has me a bit baffled.
Last week I added a screen protector but the pen has been working without issue since. Well until today. This on the official HC ROM.
Any thoughts?
Battery may be getting weak.
I'd check the batteries.
how long has it been used?
i had taken it off the battery probably 2 hours earlier.
anyway i switched it off for some time (30 or so minutes) and since then it has stopped the behaviour. strange.

Check the scribes batteries....
I had similar issues and replacing the battery did not help.
I ended up opening the entire pen mechanisim, (un screwing the front and back portions) and cleand all the electrodes,
The pe is working well again.
This happened to me. I took out the battery, and then screwed the back on as tight as I could, and it worked properly again.

Does your tablet pickup strong frequency?
My flyer also show strange behavior yesterday on one particular place.
My pen is battery off but most of the time tablet pickup all finger touch as pen touch, take screen shot and cannot navigate with finger touch. Reboot didn't make any changes.
After 20 minute tablet become back normal function. I suspect on place that happen. Probably tablet pickup some frequency and though as pen is nearby and reply every touch as pen touch.
I cannot verify since cannot go back to that place.
I have this problem all the time in class, I think I figured out how to fix it and avoid the problem.
To fix it: Remove the battery and wait about 10 seconds.
To avoid it: I have a nasty habit of playing with the two input buttons. I think that if you press both buttons together at the same time or even possibly some odd combination, it causes the board to crash and thus you get the behavior described.
Hallo,
I had the problem too, but getting out of the battery doesn't help. The other day suddenly it works again (and i set my Flyer off and on without success the day before).
I have no explanation for this behaviour. I know for sure I didn't press both keys.
Greetings

I have a HTC Jetstream and faced similar problem. But faced the problem only after wiping the screen. May be too much static which caused the pen's scribe field to be amplified creating this strange phenomenon. When I swept my hand across the screen and tried or after a while of use-like 15min or so, the problem self resolved.

If the buttons are facing up the problem goes away
Any help much appreciated....I have an issue with my screen flickering, dimming very faint and going black when i touch my screen. sometimes my screen will go black for long periods of time and phone is practically useless. This is not an issue of just a slight flicker on light colored screens that I have read other people describe. The screen does not always do this but is definitely getting more frequent. The flickering/dimming happens when I touch screen and especially when I touch it with more pressure. It also seems to be more sensitive on the bottom half of the screen.
I consider myself as the "scientific type" and have been testing many different scenarios trying to find a rhyme or reason to this happening. The only thing I have found is that if I keep my phone out of my pocket the problem seem to not happen. Then I can put my phone in my pocket for as little as 5 minutes and my screen could be messed up for hours. Everything else about phone seems to work great.
At first I was thinking this was a software issue but now I am leaning towards hardware? I am rooted, unlocked with s-on and cannot send back for warranty. I was running mean Rom for many versions and have also gone back to stock rom and stock kernel and experience same problem. Many reboots and clean installs too. I have also taken phone apart and reconnected all ribbon cables hoping there was a bad connection.
My Evo lte is only 4 months old and has never been dropped nor has it ever been wet. There are no scratches on screen and has been in otter box since the phone was brand new. I am running out of ideas and am I dire need for advice.
Thanks,
Mike
