Random non-responsiveness moments? - Motorola Droid X2

this is random but, the touchscreen stops responding occasionally
specifically when i'm playing Mario Kart and holding the A button in for extended periods of time (n64oid)
it's not even when the system is hot it's really peculiar
actually now that i think about it this has happened a few times when i was on my homescreen as well where the touchscreen decided to stop responding yet if i pushed the buttons it still operated
anyone else seen this?
i was hoping it was ram related because i just used bloat freezer and cleaned up the ram nicely

The original X2 i had did this extremely often right out of the box (activation was a PITA)... as in it would work for 5-10 seconds (30 if i was lucky) and the touchscreen would "freeze" while all buttons and everything else were working as normal. Power button to make screen go off/on fixed it, but it would just happen 10 seconds later. Idk how bad yours is but if it is common enough see about a replacement (or hope OTA comes soon and fixes it for ya)

I'm Not Sure What It's Related To, Because I Can't Replicate It To A Certain Time Or Point Sometimes When Opening An App It Doesn't Recognize I Tapped The Icon Or When Texting Sometimes It Doesn't Know I Was Touching The Screen. Could Be Just Another Bug In The Software Which We Hope In The Future Will Be Resolved.

Its got the same feature as the atrix if one screen is pressed for more than 20secs in the same spot the screen turns off. Motorola claims to do this to protect against water damage

Touchscreen sensitivity

Am I the only one experiencing an overly sensitive Sense UI? Perhaps I'm missing a setting. I have looked all through /etc and can't find any way to adjust the sensitivity.
Anyone have a solution?
Touchscreen Spaz-out
I will say: occasionally my touch screen will just go bat-**** crazy, registering even the slightest movements as "clicks". The phone is completely unusable; god help you should you be in the lock screen.
Now, after observing this for a couple of days I have a hare-brained theory: it's related to how hot the device is. I've noticed that it happens after extended periods of use, or when it's plugged into the wall charger. Just unplugging it grants a short reprieve, and a refractory "cool down" period generally fixes it. Also it'll work sorta if you press down on the screen like you're trying to kill your phone.
Can anyone else confirm this?
I was getting a lot of the jitteryness and screen lockups before I loaded MR2, everything seems pretty fine now. I had more problems with my wife's myTouch than the eris for once last week.
I do not have any issues like this (I do have all the updates though)

Phone issues: Unstable phone, or just an unstable rooting?

Hey all,
My Samsung Fascinate has an issue where the following have been happening (mostly in spurts, where it gets really bad);
There are what you could call "Phantom" button presses, I'll be doing something on it, surfing the web, reading something, and it'll just start acting up as if random buttons are being pressed. This'll go on for about 10-30 seconds, or until I use kill a bunch of background running apps. I originally thought it was due to having a screen protector over the hot keys, so I took that off the hot key area. that took care of it for a while, until I rooted my phone and started using custom ROMs (right now, I had a debloated ED01 ROM). After that, it began acting up again. I'm gonna try derooting it and doing the official updates to see if that helps. Any other directions for me to look in to fix this? Now it also has been eating up battery power like crazy (it almost dies when I was at work today, and I pretty much only use it as a time piece when there).
I also now have the problem where it wakes back up after I put it to sleep. If you just want to answer this in the thread already for this problem, then no problem, I'll follow that thread as well as this one.
Thanks for your help on this.

EDIT: Another symptom for consideration: When the phone acts up, it'll also snap screenshots when I try to power it off. Usually I can stop this by killing most of the running apps or swiping my finger across the hotkey area..
Sounds like something is up with your digitizer (the part of the screen that registers touch/gestures). If you flash back to bone stock ED01 and it's still acting up, take it in and get it swapped/fixed.

I would say you need to do a real good cleaning of your screen. The screen protectors for the Fascinate were not designed to be placed over the capacative keys (hot keys) and the slight adhesive on the screen protector probably left a residue on the capacitive keys. The screenshot when pressing the power button is a big clue. Screenshots are taken when you hold down the back capacative key and press the power button. This problem has almost always been cleared up by thoroughly cleaning the capacitive (soft) keys.
Cool, thanks guys for the help. I'll try the cleaning thing first; I'm guessing that alcohol wipes would work just fine for this?
Also, on the screen cap thing, that does make sense considering the major thing that happens is my phone will act as if the back button is pressed (with it occasionally phantom pressing the home button and bringing up the task manager box). Would it maybe be a good idea to completely remove the screen protector (it's a ZAGG, ie: Heavy duty). I've talked to a couple of people who say it shouldn't be a huge necessity to have one on.
If this doesn't work, I'll go through and flash the stock ED01.
If anyone else has a possible answer/ solution, feel free to chime in, as I'm hoping to get an idea of all the possible reasons for this.
Thanks again.
Just fyi, you can disable the screen capture service by freezing it through a variety of apps (a lot of people use titanium backup pro).

How would I do that, I've looked through TiB and don't see an obvious setting that would take care of this.
First, you must have the pro version. Go to backup/restore tab at the top and find the screen capture service (it's in red text). Tap it and select freeze. This will disable, but not uninstall it, so you can restore it later. PM me if you need a screen shot.

Ok, got it. Now if I could get it to stop turning back on when I sleep it, it's been doing that a lot more of late. Going back to the capacitive keys issue; Is there a mod that can adjust the sensitivity of those keys, to make it so they don't get 'pressed' if theres any junk on them?

[Q] Should I contact Samsung for warranty?

So here are some problems I have with my phone but I'm not sure if they make my phone valid for a replacement...
touch screen isn't sensitive enough - it doesn't respond sometimes unless my finger is perfectly perpendicular to the screen. And when I'm scrolling, it sometimes flicks all the way down by itself
Sometimes, I only press the home button once but leads to voice
The battery usually only lasts for 8-10 hours with normal usage. This includes texting, checking e-mail and facebook. I also have pretty much everything turned off and brightness dimmed halfway.
The phone freezes up from time to time. The screen goes lack and none of the buttons work, not even the power button. I have to remove the battery and put it back in to get it working again.
The battery can also get unusually hot, some times for no reason at all
I get quite a few of these issues too, not sure if they're valid for a warranty claim though. As far as I can tell, a lot of users have been getting lots of these issues also. I'd start by clearing out any apps that you don't need/use (probably easiest way is to back them all up with titanium backup, delete them all and then only install the ones you need immediately, then install others as you need them) as there could be one/some causing you some issues. As for the touch screen sensitivity, there's a few threads on here that address that (with apps) but also some kernels include a fix. I'm on slow-ass internet atm so I won't include links but just do a quick search and you'll find what you're after.
As for only pressing the home button once and getting voice, if you use the "JKAY mod" theme, there's an option to disable home button double click (very useful). As for why it happens, I'd say it's an error with switch debouncing but who knows, just get jkay and disable it.
Also, as I said in another thread, I've had very good experiences with using the void #echo kernel, so give that a try and see if it fixes any of your problems.
Try updating the firmware and also calibrate sensors to avoid further sensor problems.
I would update the firmware, but I actually want to get this traded in for warranty since I did drop my phone, leaving the chrome slightly scratched. So I guess none of my reasons would qualify for warranty then? How about the part where my phone goes completely unresponsive that I have to remove the battery before anything works again? Could that be a valid reason because the couple times it happened, I almost had a panic attack.
If you want to stay on stock and have a warranty then tell them it reboots twice a day so probably has firmware problems and they will send it away.

You can try but all they will do is a factory reset first .
You can do that before returning under warranty .

[Q] Help! Spurious button presses make phone act like it is possessed

Today my Atrix 4G started acting like a ghost was controlling it. It can be just sitting there with the display on, and somt part of the screen will be pressed and a program started. I have Elixir 2 buttons, Multicon buttons, and the regular app buttons installed on the display by the basic ATT controls. All three have had buttons "pressed" in a seemingly random way. I have rebooted several times. The phone is quite unusable.
Then I also get my regular reboot problem. The phone will be fine all day, but at some point, it just starts rebooting every 2 minutes. The little LED in the upper right corner turns often purple (it is usually green.) I get the process stopped message a lot then, too. It happens even if it is fully charged.
Part of your problem can be after having widgets on screen if you then froze the program which is for the widget the widget remains but as a ghost. You don't see it but its there. I had this issue with something like beautiful widgets and it played hell with my phone. Just a thought.

No wifi, nothing frozen
I have not frozen any programs. It happened after several reboots. I also did not have wifi turned on.
Thanks for your suggestions

I have this issue too, but it happens at random times and I can stop it by turning the screen off then on.
I think it might be the digitizer going bad.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Mine was accompanied by dead zones. I had to rotate the phone to get certain spots and keys on the keyboard to register. Sometimes pressing a spot on the lower left side registered on the upper right.
When I finally replaced the digitizer, I found the left side ribbon had detached and was being held in place by pressure. if the ribbon moved around, it caused spurious connections. I even had one ROM install itself with the Aroma installer because it kept thinking I was hitting the "next" button.
Digitizer replacement fixed.
Will replace phone, need to copy old phone to new
I think my phone needs a new digitizer. The wty expires in a week, so I'm going to a service center tmw. Thanks to all who made these useful suggestions.
Do I need to unroot it before I return it?
Do you know how to ghost my old phone to my new one?

Black Screen

I have run into these issues several times. They seem to be related, but I can't say for sure.
Every now and then while I'm actively using the phone, 1/2 the screen will go away and the phone will be unresponsive. If I shut off the screen, then turn it back on, it usually clears up. Sometimes the screen won't come back on. It stays off no matter what buttons I press. So I put it on the charger, that triggers the screen turning on and everything is back to normal (the battery is always over 50% or more at this point). Yesterday this got to a point of happening several times in 1/2 hour, so I ended up rebooting to see if it would clear it up. This issue did not come back since then.
On a similar note, I was playing a game this morning in a dark room with the brightness turned all the way down. I was being very active in interacting with the screen. Every now and then the screen would go black, except for the notification bar. I could still see that (time and statuses of things running). The screen would not respond to any touches, so I would shut the screen off and turn it back on and all would be good. This happened 2-3 times over a 45 min period. I play this game quite often, but not usually in the dark and often not as actively as I was doing. My resolution is set in the middle (FHQ+ I think it's called).
Has anyone else run into anything like this?
This S9+ snapdragon through Verizon just seems to be plagued with so many minor issues. I've never had a new phone with this many problems.

As a followup, I think I have found the problem. It seems to be with a product called Game Tuner. It can black out the screen while leaving the app running in the background. I think it is buggy. Doesn't seem to be a way to shut it off though.

I was able to uninstall, then install an older version of Game Tuner and the problem that was easiest to reproduce was fixed. Hopefully this will prevent the weird 1/2 screen thing as well.
