Is anyone else using this? They are giving a free subscription for all Android users who register before the end of January. I've tried this, and it seems like pretty impressive. Lets you backup, restore and wipe data remotely, as well as lock the phone, sound an alarm and track the SIM details of the thief's sim card. Check it out using the link below. Download it free from the Market.

I'm an idiot.
I installed this and set it up on my Optus SIM, and wanted to insert my other Optus SIM that I use for Wireless Broadband.
Let's just say I forgot the pass code and I was locked out; forcing me to reset (factory wipe/restore). Great.

Didn't you add a friend as a trusted person or something? You can actually get WS to send them a temporary code that you can use to unlock the device!
I have installed too. Impressive app ;-) and free also!!
The offer has been extended to 31st March 2010!

Very good application.
2 days ago, I reset my phone, just for fun, and I tried to restore the SMS's and Contacts. Unfortunately, they did not restore completely. And all my contacts were saved into Google Contacts and not my phone!
Gonna contact TenCube about this.

hi, i recently asked about disabling GPRS which i have now done through my network provider.problem is, it's still possible to access the web via GSM. does anyone know how I can permanently disable any access to the web - even if the phone is reset? O2 say they can't Block access to the GSM number. I have to do this - or get rid of my phone.
maybe if there were a program which would block any atempt to modem using gsm you could put it in the extented rom
but really it's a bit like trying to make sure nobody call a surden nr from a phone but having to do so in your end and not in the operator end
it's only possible if some hack program can block all attempts to connect using anything but usb
Disable GSM
Thanks for that. Pardon my ignorance - but what is my extended Rom? How do I but thing in there? Is such a program available?
On my settings, I notice that the GSM number has a password associated with it. Does anyone know if I can apply to change my password. That way - if the phone is hard-reset, it will try to set up a connection with the default password - which woyuld then be invalid. That way, I could ensure that only I have internet access and only when I manually input the password.

Hate to even mention this but as a last resort you could damage the SIM card port or have siemens disconnect the connector to GSM or SIM if possible, that would take out the phone option.
Ah, but wouldn't that disable the phone completely? i still need the phone to make ordinary calls...
Thanks though Iggy. Know you say that you hate to mention it, and I know I must sound like a complet Philistine Monkey for wanting to do this. But I bought the XDA principally for its connectivity to MS Office, and for the fact its a phone. I couldn't give two hoots about using the internett. it costs too much anyway, and others have access to the phone and know how to reset, use the net, then reset again - and restore the info. Thus making it look like it hasn't been used. (though I can check the call register etc).
So you see I need to do this - to protect my wallet & my kids...
As a very last resort - I'll sell the XDA. buy a seperate PDA with no mobile connectivity, then buy a standard mobile instead.

Sorry Damian Gardiner, did'nt quite understand before that you still needed the phone functionality. Just a quick question, for you to connect to an ISP is that not a data call (whether by GSM or CDMA or Normal phone line) and if so I thought it was possible for your provider to disable data calls?????? Don't really what I am talking about, just thinking out loud.
The way that I disable mine is in the [My Connections] settings where it asks to "Select a modem", I pick the "Hayes Compatible Modem" which does not exist in the XDA. So the device cannot dial out my ISP number. When I actually want to connect to my ISP, I pick "Cellular Line". Actually, if you pick "Cellular Line" it just counts as voice minutes. This can be very useful especially during weekends. It is quite slow though. If you pick GPRS then it counts as data, which is additional service.
Give it a try.
Pat
If your provider disables both GPRS and CSD, you can't make any data calls at all. CSD is what provides the ability to dial a provider.
Wouldnt it just work when you delete ALL connections on the XDA?
That way the device won't be able to connect straight away and thus alwys comes up for some user interaction. . .
When I am on my own network I use CSD (ie. dial-up) because it counts as voice minutes (and I don't ever use all the minutes of my bundle)
When I am abroad I use GPRS (cheaper than Roaming CSD)
Hi!
I have a Verizon Samsung Fascinate (SCH-i500) currently working with PagePlus Talk and Text. I bought it from somebody, so I'm a second owner. Mostly I use wi-fi, but sometimes I need to use data/mms. I went to a PagePlus dealer and asked about enable data/mms, he said I can't use it because PagePlus dose not allow data/mms on smartphone. I searched about solution more than a week, but I couldn't find it. Can you help me with your magic hands? I have QPST program. If you can, please give me a step by step instruction.
Thanks!!!
I just activated a Fascinate with Page Plus today, and I seem to be having the same issue with no data or mms working. Calls and text seems to be working fine though. I bought the phone off ebay, so it was previously used with Verizon service. I've searched for the past week on this as well, and I can't seem to find any instructions on what to do, and Page Plus CS is pretty useless. Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks in advance!
I don't really know how to fix it but maybe I.have some information that can send you in the right direction.
First, there was a thread where people got the fascinate working on either US.cellular or cricket. That may help you get some information.
Second im pretty sure they had to use qpst to change the settings.
Third I think the problem had to do with the prl information in the phone.

Hey thanks for your reply. I looked into people flashing to cricket and there isn't much information on that either. Plus I can't seem to find any apn settings or anything like that for Page Plus. I've prob spent another 6 hrs today on this with no luck. If anyone has any info about getting data and mms working it will be a huge help. Pretty much everything I find online are people asking what I'm asking with no responses.
For data, you require qpst build 215. Flash the correct ppp settings for your carrier. Any other build will yield you nothing. As far as mms, use apn back up to flash the correct settings.
Hey I really appreciate you giving me an idea with qpst. Unfortunately I'm still stuck at one part, so I'm hoping you might be able to clear that up for me. I downloaded qpst 2.7 build 215, I got my phone in dial up mode from **33284, set the COM port to 1, so I have the QPST service program recognizing my device, and I'm at the PPP Config tab. Only problem is I have no idea what values to enter for anything, I see 3 tabs "Rm", "Um", and "AN" and in each one there are spaces for values of "LCP", "IPCP", "IPCPv6". Then there are spaces for user id, password, tethered NAI, retries, timeout, primary dns, secondary dns, optimized dormant handoff, 1xEVDO->1x. So I really don't know where to begin. I've tried searching all over to see what I'm supposed to set if I want my phone working with Page Plus. Can't seem to find any clear answers. Anyways sorry for the long message. Hopefully you can clear some of this up for me. Again I really appreciate your help, thanks!
I just activated a fascinate on pp as well. Data works for me (haven't tried mms). Have you tried calling pp and verifying that data is enabled on the account? Also maybe an esn reset. The folks over at howard forums are pretty helpful too. Good luck!

Wow, sounds like you got lucky! I did call Page Plus to verify if data was enabled and it is. I guess I should call back and try the esn reset your suggesting. But as of right now I still don't have the data or mms working

Also when you log into your Page Plus account is your phone listed as generic? Mine is listed as generic, and with Phone features as SMS and voicemail. No mention about data on the phone. Even though my plan has 100 mb of data. I do see 100 mb of data listed under the plan on the right though.
I'm getting a fascinate off ebay.
how to use it on pageplus?
$.99c activation service on ebay will activate the phone since it is Verizon phone?
or i have to use qpst?? software?
You guys think my data and mss might not be working due to the fact that I'm running a custom rom and 2.2.1? As opposed to the stock 2.1? I want to get some feedback, before I odin back to 2.1 to test it out, thanks.
I got exactly the same issue.
I know for a fact that the phone is not a problem, because it was working for last half a year with pageplus. I ported a phone number from google voice today and lo and behold, data not working anymore. I tried calling pageplus, they reset data service twice, didn't help. I also tried re-programming by calling numbers from here: http://pageplusdealer.com/PagePlus/catalog/ActivationInstructions.php . I tried reflashing firmware, kernel, and radio, and nothing. It isn't even trying to data connect.
Anyone knows what to do with QPST to try helping the issue?
*EDIT*: I figured it out. QPST showed wrong NAI. Somehow instead of [email protected], it was some completely bogus number with completely bogus domain name. Anyway, I reset it to correct value, and it works fine now. I have absolutely no idea why was it reprogrammed, and why *22890 didn't put it back.
Use (Page Plus Cellular) i have a Galaxy S Fascinate (Verizon) and data / mms work perfectly, I'm on $29.95 Plan 1200 min / 3000 text, 100 mb Data per month.
Hi guys,
I am on the Fido network.
I purchased the Galaxy S2 I9100 from Bell Mobility.
I unlocked the phone using cellunlocker.net.
Everything worked great once the phone was unlocked (data, voice, text, mms, etc).
Once I updated the APN and selected my network operator I noticed my date stamp on incoming texts was off by a few hours. I corrected this by calling my service provider who reset my SIM.
This is where the more serious problem started, the date stamp on the texts was corrected although I lost my data connection.
Another thing I wanted to mention was when restarting the S2, the data network mode (when holding the power button) automatically goes into "deactivated". I activate it right away although this still has no effect.
Can anyone help? The phone worked for just under 2 weeks with data, voice, etc. Now nothing........
=(

Go to mobile network settings - access point name. I'm guessing that there is no APN settings there. Google APN settings for your service provider or ring them and ask them. This should sort out your data connection
Hi,
All APN settings are correct, they were working prior to calling the service provider for a SIM reset. I rechecked them 10 million times to ensure all is well.
Using my wireless for now and even factory reset my phone but nothing.
Try deleting your apns and reconfigure them!

Just finished, I deleted my APN and created a new one. Still nothing, even when I reset to default. Also registered it on my network operator. This is very puzzling for me... I appreciate your response as I thought it was a great idea and was sure it would have worked! =(
Maybe try a buddies Fido sim to see if it helps.

Tell me what network your on and tell me what modem you are runinng? Take a screen shot of your APN settings. It will take 2 screen shots for the APN settings
I apologize for the delay as I was away for work until today...
The data works now.
I called into my service provider who at first stated they could not help me as my phone was unlocked. This was overcome as I still had the my Nexus S which I bought from my service provider which also had no data. After trouble shooting for 30 min on both phones (resetting, factory wiping, creating new APN's, etc) we were unable to get the data to work.
The tech rep then asked me to attend a Fido store (my provider), which I agreed to (rep asked me to insert my SIM into another Fido phone and try the data connection that way).
Within 10 min of the phone call my data connected just like that. Funny part is I didn't do anything to the S2.
I believe my provider switched off the data when I called in originally regarding my date stamp. Then when I called back they switched it back on knowing it wasn't any of my settings or the phone. This is just my theory.
My advice is never let your provider know you have an unlocked phone, especially Fido.
I appreciate your help and hope this helps anyone going forward.
Sorry to post this here but I wasn't sure where else to ask it ....
Yesterday I got a text message from T-mobile stating that:
"You recently changed the web plan on your T-mobile account. If this was done in error, please go to MyT-Mobile.com"
Needless to say, I hadn't changed ANYTHING on my account. I went to the webpage and saw that an "unlimited data plan" had been added to my account.
When I called to cancel it, all the woman in India could tell me was that someone had added the account via MyT-Mobile.com. She suggested that maybe I had done it accidentally myself by clicking on a text message T-Mobile had sent me offering such a service, but I didn't receive any such message.
If my account was hacked, what benefit would there be for someone to add a data plan to it?
EDIT: There is one other possibility--I don't have a data plan at all. I use my wifi at home and there is free wifi where I work ... Sometimes the wifi at work drops out and I will get an "upsell" webpage from t-mobile, which I just cancel out off ... could I have accidentally hit something on that page that added data to my plan without any further confirmation from me?
Happened to me once on att and I called att and they changed it back.

Thanks for responding. My question for you is: do you know HOW it happened to you? That's my concern--figuring out how it happened so it doesn't happen again.
Change your password & security question if you have not already if your using windows it's a good idea to do a full system virus scan first if you don't use security software I would recommend buying some also make sure your wifi router isn't using wep since that can be hacked instead use wpa or wpa2 and change your wifi password as well to be sure
If it's not a problem with your security it's possible a friend or family member may have gained access to your account by using your computer at one stage or simply guessing details about you or your password or it's reset questions

What benefit do you think someone would gain from adding unlimited data to my account? That's what I can't figure out, and why I think maybe I did somehow accidentally do it myself.

No change at all. I've even flashed in the latest UK firmware (of the BC52 family, as I remember) which some claim also has VoWifi enabled for. I haven't had any joy at all. I'll change it back to the original HK firmware this weekend.
I must mention, though, that the first time I flashed the SEA ROM and went into the part of the menu where WoWifi would configured, it froze with a blank screen for several seconds before taking me back to the home screen. When I went ito the menu again, it was just like I was using the original software, with no menu for VoWifi; and has been like that with subsequent firmware versions I have flash3d since. I don't know if that means anything, I am just making it known.
I must admit, though, that I have not flashed the SEA ROM by clearing the phone completely (I have been preserving userdata). Reason for this is I have media and games taking the lion's share of the 512 gigs of this thing's memory; and having to reinstate all that is not quite my idea of fun. But do you suppose that it would make a difference?

I've a SIM card issue too. This one is tied specifically to the SIM issues by Vodafone Irl.
Android 12 pre January Google Security update it works fine. Factory reset / Full Wipe / Sony Software repair / Newsflash with different regions, all result in the same issue. Immediately after factory reset it works, but a security update is pending install, requiring reboot. After reboot phone is unable to maintain SIM card, SIM menu in settings keeps disappearing, phone UI, Settings UI crashes. Only way to fix is to remove the SiM card.
2 SIMs from Vodafone Irl tried and one brand new from the Vodafone store. All fail. They all work perfectly fine in my previous OnePlus 8/6 phone.
Using a Three Irl SIM works perfectly, using a Vodafone UK SIM , roaming on the Vodafone Irl network also works.
I am at a complete loss as to what to try next.
I'm dealing with Customer Service with the past 2 weeks and as of now, no service engineer has responded.

This is "similar" to the isse i've had on my old Iphone 4S with Wind IT SIM. There was something incompatible with wind sim cards with that iphone model. Appll swapped 3 times the phone but never solved the issue. Wind also done nothing. The issue was solved some years after but i already sold the phone at that time
Yeah, I can't see the issue being fixed.
Funny that the issue happed after the security update.
I don't want to have to switch networks but it looks like I might have no choice. I'll hold out I'll either Sony get back to me or a new security update lands on new FW.
I've not seen anyone else with the same issue, but there's no provider here selling the Xperia 1.3
Either way, it's a pain in the ass...
I tried changing the enabled radio modes in an Engineering menu and saw exactly this. If it's not a mode in the GUI everything crashes. I fixed it with a network reset. In your case, experimenting with the Engineering menu might be the only way to fix it. If you reset it and the SIM requests an unsupported mode you'll be back to crashing.

Sounds like your device has a problem. I haven't had any issues (besides the absence of VoLTE/VoWifi) with all firmware versions I have tried out so far. What happens when you do a clean install with the original firmware?

Same issue. Everything works perfectly until the first reboot when the new security patch gets installed.
That's the problem.
If it's hardware surely the fault would occur before the security patch is applied not after.

Go into the Dialler and type the following to go to the menu you want.
Service Menu *#*#73788423#*#*
FCM Diagnostics *#*#426#*#*
IMEI Info *#06#
Testing *#*#4636#*#*
The One in the image is the Testing menu, Phone info, 3 Dot Menu top right (scroll down then up to make it appear), Select Radio Band
PROCEED WITH CAUTION! I'm guessing you could possibly FUBAR here.
I had the problem after touching this menu:
*#*#4636#*#
-> Phone information
--> Set Preferred Network Type:
---> NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA
Everything SIM related crashed with a different value. I have a XQ-BC62 so I'm not sure my setting is the same as other phones.
A network reset will fix any damage done here, assuming your SIM card doesn't break it again. It will cost you all BT pairing, WiFi passwords, and APNs.

I had performed a Network Settings reset, same issue. I had and currently have the same settings as above.
What it reminds me of, is having an old SIM Card and putting it in a new phone, similar to when they changed the voltage capabilities of the SIM cards years ago. Back when we were trimming SIM cards with scissors to fit
So I received a Play store System update today, again still showing February 1St 2022.
Still having the same issue...
Google Video
I had a response from Sony UK, but nothing other than try switching off 4G and 5G ! I can't even get to that menu!
Just received FW update 61.1.A.4.78 this morning. Unfortunately no change to my Vodafone issue.
As of today, still no response from Sony.
I've determined that the SIM profile must be stored on the Phone. Factory resetting the phone whilst roaming and changing a setting in the *#*#4636#*#* menu appears to cause it. The roaming was the thing that killed it. However it still doesn't explain why no Vodafone IRL SIM card worked.
I have managed to repeat a similar issue where the SIM menu crashes each time it is accessed , again after messing with the *#*#4636#*#* menu. and /or hot swapping SIM cards causes the problem. Use a different SIM card in the device and it works , use the original SIM card in a different device and it works. I believe there is a SIM profile stored on the device that is getting corrupted. The only resolve is a factory reset. Or a new SIM card (waiting to confirm this, new card on the way...can't face another factory reset!)
